Having watched this video I was interested enough to buy the Meike ext.tubes. The 16mm section worked fine on its own, but the 10mm section did not. The camera would not function at all with it attached. I thought about the problem overnight and the next day I picked up the 10mm piece and a clean lint-free rag, which I then used to polish the contact pins on both ends of the extension tube. Then, using the rag, I carefully pushed all the inner pins down, having had the notion that one or more might actually be sticking. This proved successful and now both extension tubes function perfectly. It's something others might want to take note of if they have a similar problem. ~Thank you for your very useful videos, btw.
@@DamianBrown Quite possibly, but as one section worked I though it must he a contact problem, which in retrospect was only a minor fault. Now I'm delighted with the pair, and the price is an absolute gift. Cheers, and thanks again for your clear, explanatory and helpful videos.
Pretty good I took a few pictures of a grasshopper I was like wow for all those little details at the time I try with the xf 18-55mm. I got a 23mm I'll try with that one tomorrow.
Wow! I was just messing around with some vintage macros just yesterday and today this video showed up. Another note. Keep your screenshot or whatever it’s called because that’s what I notice first that it’s your video and I always have to see what you have to say. Thanks. (Lens cloth)
Hi , I bought the jjc extension tubes , I don’t know if I am being stupid but I am completely unable to adjust the focus manually via the focus ring or automatically and when I try the to adjust focus , manually or in auto , the image is just a blur and doesn’t change what so ever , I have to move the the position of the camera it’s self in order to achieve a good focus point , any help ? Thanks 😊 I am using an xt2 with the 35 f2 and 16 1.4 by the way.
Once the extension tube is attached, am I able to change the aperture or is it necessary to lock the aperture without the extension tube and then mount the tube?
I have the Neewer extension tubes. These seem to be identical to your Meike tubes except the branding and product code NW-F-AF3. I seem to remember Meike and Neewer are part of the same company. My tubes work fine and are great for the price.
Hi, any suggestions for a macro lens which won't cost a fortune?) I was thinking may be an adaptor and a lens from other brand will work or better to focuse on Fuji for Fuji. ?
Thanks for sharing! I am planning to use it along with the 70-300 lens which has magnification of 0.33 but doesn't give much magnification after using extensions according to the table by fuji. would love to hear how the lens magnification math workout for extension tubes.
Much appreciated. The Fuji 16 was available on ebay for 67 dollars plus, but Pal2tech had a review of mostly the Fuji and just a touch of the Meike. An afterthought. Your video sold me. Super cheap on ebay with free shipping. Curious to see it on my 90, 23, and 16.(1.4) And why not on my vintage glass too. Or even the Fuji 16-50..
Does it change the focal length of the lens (more zoom than the default number) or it's just make the minimum focus of the lens more closer to the object? For example I have a 55mm lens, if i use it with extention tube does it change to say it 60mm or above? Or it's still 55mm with the closer of minimum lens focus?
Hi Damien. I’m using the x-T1, is there a feature or clever menu that can make the EVF display like a DSLR, so it sees light at a normal level, but you have the camera set up for a pretty bright flash? I.e. all i see is black at the moment so i cant focus my shots....I’m wanting to do macro using a flash tube diffuser i made with a pringles tube.....
Ahhhh Damien I’ve Solved the problem, the setting is called PREVIEW LIVE PIC..... I’m very happy now! But yeah I’ll keep watching your vids, they’re great. Mainly the Fuji ones. Dan.
Hey man! I’m really digging macro but I’m on a budget so I’m looking into fuji 60mm 2.4 and since it’s a 1:2 macro not 1:1, I wonder if mcex-11/16 or this meike 10/16 would make the 60mm 1:1? Thank you and I hope you notice this. Sorry if this is a noob question but I’m not really familiar and I just want to be sure when buying cos I don’t have much. Thank you!
As far as I can tell this chart for the Fuji version is accurate, you can see certain lens and magnifications possible www.fujifilm.eu/fileadmin/countries/europe/pressimages/DSC/Nov2014/MCEX-table.png Hopefully it helps!
Don't recommend f 11/16/22 for macro- and pay close attention to softness coming from diffraction. Basic stuff. research 'effective aperture' in macro.

That's weird, I wonder if it's a quality control issue?

Good idea!
"Somewhere reliable like Amazon" nearly knocked me out of my chair mate, well played!
😂😂😂 thanks for noticing
I have a 35mm f2 wr lens, but when I try to attach it to the Meike Tub, the lens doesn't fit, and won't attach.
Is there something stopping it attaching? Some lenses don't work BUT the mounts should be the same across the board, generally.

Do you know if the focus bracketing feature would work when these tubes are attached?

is this compatible with meike 35mm?
Hi! Can I also use it with 35mm f1.4 manual lens as adapter?
Would like to know too on fuji 35 1.4
can i use my xc35mm f2 with the meike macrotube?

No, doesn't change the focal length :)
@@DamianBrown okay, thanks for the reply
Can you use this as a substiture for prime 50mm lens?
For macro maybe yes.
Thanks - looking for cheap way to do some macro stuff.
Brilliant, I'd say this is the route!

Sound. Sorry I was late to reply!!
will it work with 18-5mm?
Will these extesion tubes work with the Fujifilm XF56mm f/1.2?
I believe so but haven't tried it myself.

Do you Recommend JJC Over Mieki?
Not particularly, it's almost the same
Great video mate. How much softness due to diffraction did you experience? Cheers and stay safe out there.
I didn't have a big issue really, without shooting too critically. Though I would love the 80mm for this kinda thing. I think it'd be a lot better.
@@DamianBrown Brill, thanks for the comment and always great vids. Cheers

Exactly
Thanks for video! On Amazon it is not available..
Ye they've sold out :( I added an eBay link as an alternative :(
Back in stock :)
@@DamianBrown Thanks a lot!
"Why not?" Diffraction. Diffraction is "Why not?".
Thanks Damian

Boycott cheap Chinese copies, Matt!
