Great to see you react to this this movie, it's such a childhood classic! Also, I'd love for you to watch and react to WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING. I watched it for the first time recently and it has instantly become one of the BEST MOVIES I've ever watched. It has everything: gorgeous setting and camera work, well written characters, great acting performances and a very layered and emotionally impactful story. I think you'll love it as much as I did. And I have a feeling that you will discuss the movie for at least 20 minutes after it ends.
In my opinion Treasure Planet is the best animation Disney has put out. It's a shame what happened with it's release, leading to it not receiving the recognition it so fully deserved. Yet despite that, it is so beloved by many which is a credit to the people that really pushed for it to be made and created such a beautiful film. (As someone who's not super into Disney, I feel very passionate about this lol)
Not Disney (at least at the time), but there's also Titan A.E. And Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, which is one of my underrated favorites. And Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas.
These were great and still are just came out in a wrong time (3D animation was something new back then with Shrek and all these in theaters so standard animations couldn't compete with them).. Sad 😢
Agreed! I'm Brazilian and as a kid for me was like WOW so that's the indigenous culture in the US? (I didn't know it was Canada at the time) , that's so nice ❤ to know ancient cultures is one of my passions til nowadays
@@sonicartzldesignerclan5763 but it is underrated. Underrated isn't only used for ratings(not entirely sure I spelled that right), it could also mean that it has a low audience. And no one thinks using the word "underrated" is cool. No reason for you to be this upset about it.
Koda saying "I don't like that story" will always get me 😭😭😭😭😭😭 that is my very favourite childhood movie of all time. It makes me cry every single time
Some more underrated animated films I’d love to watch a reaction to: - The Road to El Dorado - Treasure Planet - Quest for Camelot - Atlantis - The Great Mouse Detective - The Emperor’s New Groove - Balto - We’re Back: A Dinosaur Story
Watching this as a kid, it broke my heart, put it back together, broke it again, then fixed it at the end. I cant wait for my niece and nephew to get a bit older so we can go through Disneys golden era of animated movies.
A fun fact is that EVERYONE who worked on the production had siblings, it was a requirement of the director. That way everyone would be able to understand the characters and show this brotherly love in the film
My reservation gave me the name "The Boy who Plays with Wolves." because when I was 7-8 years old, I was playing outside with some random reservation dogs, 3-4 of them. I was outside with them for about 30 minutes before my mother and her two friends found me. They realised right away that the "dogs" I was playing with were wolves. As soon as the wolves seen my mother and her friends, they ran into the woods and I never seen them again.
@@idontknow8422I’d be way more terrified with bear cubs than wolves. Wolves have a pack mentality and generally don’t see humans as prey. A mama bear will often attack anything that gets near their cubs blindly.
The scene with the water from the sky and then orange light as kenai pierces it is so beautifully animated. I still get goosebumps every time i watch it.
If you pay attention to the background, you’ll see an eagle hanging out, watching over the brothers. First time you see it is as 11:41 You also see it right after the camera pans up from the wooly mammoths. Cool little easter eggs.
One of my favourite Disney films and so underrated. The animation is so beautiful 🐻 And yes Oak! Phil Collins didn't have to go THAT hard for the Tarzan soundtrack, but he did that, he did that for us.
My brother used to struggle to breathe due to laughing at the ‘shut up’ goat scene when he was little. He was young enough that ‘Shut up’ was a bad word so this was like an R rated movie to him them 😂
Such an underrated and under appreciated film. To me one of my favorite Disney 2000’s movies. It deserved better than the reviews it got. The animation gorgeous, the characters relatable and enjoyable, the music perfectly executed, the lessons very well made, and finally the emotions and character development hits close to home. Kenai’s journey is so good cause he went to a very rash, kind of arrogant, irresponsible young human to a bear that realized what he did was wrong and now understands that there’s more to life then he thought not only by the totem he was given but the consequences of his actions when he was bent on anger, sadness, and revenge. So glad you guys saw this and enjoyed it.😁👍😊
My mom took me and my sister to see this in theaters. When we walked out my was like “That was a lot deeper than I thought it would be”. This movie rocks.
Brother Bear is truly one of the best eye-opener movies about the difference in perspective. That scene in the cave where they see the images of the bear and the human still gives me chills. Thanks for another great reaction vid! ❤
The Eagle hangs out throughout the entire movie. If you guys remember, Sitka's totem is the Eagle and when he went up to the spirits, he became the Eagle. So you can see him following the Brothers. It's a pretty nice Easter Egg.
I love how y’all are like “this movie isn’t too sad or traumatic” while I’m over here sobbing every time i watch the scene where Kenai tells Koda the truth. 😂 And don’t get me started on when Koda hugs his mom for the last time at the end. I loved this movie and watched it all the time as a kid but im just such a crier that it always gets me.
I always cry when Kenai notices he killed Koda's mom and when he tells Koda the truth. It may not be "3 days down" sadness but several hours eventhough the end is so cheerful.
The extended DVD had a watch along version where the whole movie was narrated and talked about by Moose Doug & Moose Bob, the whole thing is hilarious.
Love this movie. Fun fact: the moose in the German version have a very stereotypical Swedish accent (sounding like an ikea commercial) and are called Benny & Björn (like the ABBA members)
My uncle works very closely and with Phil Collins and been friends for years. I was lucky enough to go to the premier for brother bear in London with my family as guests. I don’t remember much as I was really young but the stuff I do remember are some of my earliest memories
I do have to say the first transformation scene gives me chills every time. The music, the imagery, the emotions and of course the gorgeous animation! One of my favourite scenes in any Disney film.
47:25 As a kid from that time I can definitely say that my parents got their money's worth for buying that DVD! This is by far one of the movies that gives me the most nostalgia.
as an indigenous person, this was a childhood favourite of my sister and I’s. it still holds such a warm and safe place in my heart as an adult. love this movie very much! and also as a canadian, i do love the moose.
This, Treasure Planet, and Lilo and Stitch are some of my favorite movies. I saw it in theaters and you bet I had the DVD. I had a little plastic Kenai toy that you could transform back and forth from man/bear. I remember really enjoying the game on the GameBoy as well XD I lost it a long time ago but man I’d love to play it again
It's always so strange to me when y'all refrence your "heavy hitter" movies because none of them touched me the way movies like this one, Inside Out, and Encanto did. Just goes to show that art is made for an audience and that audience is varied! And our experiences deeply affect how we feel while watching. Glad you enjoyed this, it's absolutely one of my favorite Disney movies and I love seeing it get some deserved love
I love the story and all the lessons that can be found in it. It's one of those films that you just appreciate the subtlety in certain moments the more times you watch it.
50:22 I have this (among many other Disney movies) on VHS tape. Probably one of Disney's most underrated films! I used to watch this with my brothers and it was one of the only movies that we'd watch together, keep still and not fuss about. Wholesome memories with this movie indeed ❤️🇨🇦
hi i'm brazilian and i've been following the channel for a few months, always surprised and amused by your reactions! Brother Bear is a famous film in my country, i think that precisely because it's so deep but so light at the same time, you can see the development and growth of the characters without losing the brightness and lightness of life. I'm very happy to see you enjoying it in the same way I did!
fun fact: I used to be TERRIFIED of the commercials for this movie bc the person doing the voiceover had a super deep voice and would say ‘brother bearrrr’ in a rasp/growl and it freaked me out 😭
I use to help babysit my roommates child back in 2008 era and she watched this movie everyday. I was so tired of it but brings back fun memories with that little kiddo
This movie made me cry a lot as a child. I'm the middle kid out of a bunch of three, and we watched this together when we got the DVD. So of course we assigned each of the three brothers to represent one of us. Putting myself in the shoes of a brother who thinks he has lost everything due to his harsh words ☆broke me☆.
One of my all time favourite Disney movies! Phil Collins nailed the songs just like in Tarzan! Such a tear jerker too just like good ol' disney to do! Gets you right in the feels! 👍👌😎🔥💯🐻😂 Can't wait for your future disney reactions! 👍😎🔥
If you can get your hands on a DVD copy of this film, there's a commentary done entirely in-character by the moose guys. First time I ever saw this movie, I saw the regular version and then the commentary back to back! Stayed in my head rent free ever since.
Love that you three watched this one, it's so beautiful! Two things I want to add for more context. That one bear was speaking Croatian and he said something like "I almost froze while I was going through ice crossing, it was something I barely survived, BARELY!". The other thing was about the scene where Kenai admits what he did to Koda... apparently the original version had the full sound of Kenai telling Koda but in test screenings and such, execs made the change to keep the music loud and have Kenai be nearly silent because it was just too sad for the kids (and most adults watching it tbh)
11:41 I love the detail that there is a change in the width of the screen, referring to the fact that when Kenai is turned into a bear, he gets a wider view of the world. Loved this move and your reactions 🩷
I was named Soaring Around Eagle. Thats my name. Gumbawa Mashiit Migisi. And uh definitely I see why they named me that. To be hones, I've been all around. Even as a kid I explored places. I was kind of like the guinea pig. If all my cousins were afraid to do something, I'll be the one to try it out first. Definitely got my fair share of injuries like that. But its good for Canada, at least. Free Healthcare. Don't have to worry about injuries when you know I know we can be healed from them
This is by far one of my most favorite Disney films and I so hope Disney keeps it just as it is now. It's such an amazing film, the animation, soundtrack, voice acting and story just melts well together
My kids grew up in the 2000s and we loved brother bear so much we named our rescue puppy Koda and we even called her Koda bear at times. My daughter loved this movie and the puppy became her dog. We lost her 2 years ago and she left a huge hole in our hearts. Needless to say this movie Nelda special p,ace I. Our families heart. I am glad you guys enjoyed one of the classics.
36:00 Right there with you!! ❤ Couldn't agree more! These newer animation styles are cool and all, but I'll always love animations like Brother Bear and Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. They're incredibly beautiful. It's not even the medium used, it's the style used to draw characters and environments. They used to be stunning back then.
8:10 Yup. That heavy in the first 15 minutes. It gets way heavier. That's why I love this movie. It tackled some heavy stuff that nowadays you just don't see in kid's movies. And if you do it is super downplayed and often treated as a joke. Brother Bear was one of those movies I wasn't allowed to watch as a kid, even when I was 13 because my siblings were always too young. I didn't get the chance to watch it until I was 16 or 17. I completely broke down the first time I watched it. This movie is beautiful.
I saw this movie in theaters when it came out and it is still one of my all time favorites! I am suprised no one talked about how it teaches accountability butter than just about any animated movie I can think of. The song "brother bear, I let you down" is all about taking accountability and saying I messed up and I am so sorry! That is a powerful message that I took from this movie as a kid.😊
00:50 This is actually kinda sad, that this movie gets forgotten... It has a very beautiful message imo. There isn't much movies about brotherhood nowadays.
Fyi you made me actually rewatch the ad portion of this video because while scrubbing through I caught the shot of Answer stabbed on the ground and it made me rewind the whole damn thing. Lol. Kudos BaddMedicine. Kudos.
One of my top 3 favorite Disney Movies. Far to underrated. I’m not sure why it it didn’t appeal to people. The art style for its time is beautiful, the nature of which it tells a “Boy to Man,” story is great. Maybe cause it didn’t have that fully cute and fun vibe Disney is known for. Idk. Great movie and great reaction!
Great to see you react to this this movie, it's such a childhood classic! Also, I'd love for you to watch and react to WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING. And I have a feeling that you will discuss the movie for at least 20 minutes after it ends.
So I was 8ish when this came out, I wore out the DVD by rewatching it over a few years. I remember one of the little DVD extras was a game where the Shaman woman asks you questions and then you find out what your totem is, kind of like taking the Pottermore quiz. My sister and I would always retake it if we got what we thought were "lame" animals lol. Also, this movie was nominated for an oscar for animation. it lost to finding nemo. The other movie I saw I'm 2003 with Joaquin Phoenix was Signs. Some images from that one still haunt me... The kid who plays Koda was the youngest nephew in The Bernie Mac Show
Oh boy that brings me back to my childhood and going at the closest blockbuster on a friday night so we could choose the VHS' for the weekend... the 2d animations at the time were extremelly breathtaking
I miss when Disney movies had consequences like this-Koda’s mom doesn’t come back. Kenai doesn’t become a man because he realizes he was wrong-he becomes a man when he truly accepts the responsibility that comes with his actions. He took Koda’s family away, so he willingly gives up his humanity to protect and support koda as family.

Disney in the early 2000's is very underrated. This, Treasure Planet and Atlantis was great

The other thing was about the scene where Kenai admits what he did to Koda... apparently the original version had the full sound of Kenai telling Koda but in test screenings and such, execs made the change to keep the music loud and have Kenai be nearly silent because it was just too sad for the kids (and most adults watching it tbh)
lol the acting from the ad omg you guys are so funny
Never clicked this fast on a video absolutely love you guys
11:41 I love the detail that there is a change in the width of the screen, referring to the fact that when Kenai is turned into a bear, he gets a wider view of the world. Loved this move and your reactions 🩷
“Took him straight into Mordor” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I dont know how you guys are able to watch these emotional movies without crying. I have seen this before and still cried watching this
I was named Soaring Around Eagle.
Don't have to worry about injuries when you know I know we can be healed from them
My childhood baby!! Badd Medicine always delivers the best, LET'S GOO!!
Another movie with a bear as the protagonist that you should react to is Open Season. I loved it as a kid and it is definitely a good laugh.
Such a comfort movie. I grew up on it, it's still one of my mom's favourites too. We often quote "I spy with my little eye something- Tree"
An underrated gem I grew up watching as a kid it made me love bears and the sibling bond that's timeless in my opinion 😄👏🏻🎥💕🐻
I love this movie! Thank you! 😭💖
I love the transformation song :> Bulgarian womans choir singing inuit about prehistoric man heh.
00:50 This is actually kinda sad, that this movie gets forgotten... It has a very beautiful message imo. There isn't much movies about brotherhood nowadays.
Takes me back to my childhood... God the memories.
YES THE UP NORTH CABIN FAMILY MOVIE! Great call Oak!
Fyi you made me actually rewatch the ad portion of this video because while scrubbing through I caught the shot of Answer stabbed on the ground and it made me rewind the whole damn thing. Lol. Kudos BaddMedicine. Kudos.
Phil Collins only has one gear...HARD!!!!
Yes, that movie is just amazing in anything.
Fun fact when kodai became a bear to show how his perspective of looking the world enlarged they make the frame larger.
The kid who plays Koda was the youngest nephew in The Bernie Mac Show
no u can't, that was my favorite movie to watch with my grandpa (my tata), now that he's gone, this movie has a big part in my heart, so underrated:(
Oh boy that brings me back to my childhood and going at the closest blockbuster on a friday night so we could choose the VHS' for the weekend... the 2d animations at the time were extremelly breathtaking
One of my favorites from childhood. I rewatched SO many times. Have my heart completely ❤
