Wikipedia- "As Gibbs was a toddler at the time she was recorded as the voice of Boo in Monsters, Inc., her parents helped the crew simulate scenarios that would elicit the required audio reactions that would be her lines; recording was difficult nevertheless because she would run all over the Pixar office."
It also shows that he grew as a person and friend, from being caring but self centered and completely disregarding the child to actually caring for sully even as he himself changed because of Bo.

Sure the promotion for films like this are aimed towards children as they get the whole family involved, but every animated film I’ve ever watched has always been catered for all ages. There are SO many 2000-2010 animated films they need to watch and I’m glad this is one of them!
There was something honestly so touching about seeing Oak go full dad mode for Boo. You could see how attached he was getting in the bonding scenes between her and Sulley, his jaw dropped when Sulley accidentally scared her, and there was so much hidden anger when Randall strapped her to that chair.
It actually took me a while to realize that the look on Sully’s face wasn’t just because he scared Boo but also because the realization hit that he had been frightening children to that degree the whole time. I love the depths that Pixar takes its characters.

45:49 Pixar’s “brain trust” always say: we don’t make movies for kids that parents can enjoy, we make them for everybody. That’s why the storylines and approaches are so deep and well built.
52:20 me again 😅 at the final credits of every Pixar films there is a section named “Pixar Babies”. It lists all the employees’ babies born during production, and you can tell how long it took because there are a LOT of names there. I don’t know the metrics nowadays, but it used to take around 4 years to complete a film and projects had to be developed concomitantly (and that’s why there are always easter eggs of movies that hadn’t been released yet, like Nemo on “Monters, Inc”, Lotso in “Up” or Dug in “Ratatouille”)
I’d forgotten how genuinely funny this movie is. The writing, the animation, the voice acting - everything is really on point and it’s such an enjoyable film. Really enjoyed the reaction, fellas!
Aww, Oak's reaction to Boo being scared unintentionally by Sally is so nice🥺 Would LOVE to watch your reaction to Toy story too! And the Pizza planet car is outside near the trailer where Randall was thrown into their door!

Funny, entertaining and good-old life lesson to boot.....what more could you want?
Fun fact, the release of this movie was pushed back a little due to 9/11. The reason for the push back was because the scene where they decontaminated the fancy restaurant was actually originally the building being completely demolished with an explosion- hence why Sally’s fur moves the way it does in the scene when the field is activated. They reanimated the scene to be a force field over the restaurant instead of an explosion but they didn’t have time for the finer details such as the fur blowing from the force of the explosion.
The joke where Mike's face is covered is one that has grown the most where there's multiple places IRL where this occurs. A lot of DVD retailers even put stickers over Mike's face on every copy 😂
I still have my Boo doll from when I was a kid, she talks, says “Kitty” “boo!” Mike Wazowzki!” And sings her gibberish song. I remember seeing this in theater for my 9th birthday, just turned 32 yesterday. I still absolutely love it! One of my favorites. 💜

I’m 23. 24 in a week. And you guys always bring me back to my childhood when you watch older animated movies. You guys are absolutely hilarious and I love watching your videos. ❤❤❤
Please watch the bloopers because thry contain the actual company show of 'Put that thing back where it came from or so help me'. Mike's new car was a short included on the video when it came out (it was my last big movie I got on video) and I remember really enjoying that
What I admire most about Pixar's films is how they open up a deeper understanding when viewed from an adult perspective. One such example is the scene in which Sulley realizes how scared he made Boo. It was one of the warmest childhood memories, as it was my first introduction to Pixar and American animation.
Mike on DVD box covers and other places had his face covered as a continuous running gag. The DVD cases had stickers that were directly over him, you can look it up lol For Boo, they follow one of the artists daughters around with a microphone and cut her lines together using the random things/noises she say whilst playing.
15:19 It's become a really fun and accepted fan theory that the kid they're talking about here is actually Jack Jack. If you remember that he has so many powers and can travel through dimensions. Obviously that wasn't the original intension but looking back now it fits really well😂
34 year old woman here lol watched this when I was 10 years old when this came out and I remember my mother having to deal with ALOT of rewatches of Disney movies when my sister and I were kids but this one she enjoyed quite a bit. Also congrats on Morgan & Morgan sponsoring you! 👏🏻👏🏻
This was one of the biggest movies of my childhood and I still absolutely love it to this day, the scene with Sully losing his mind while watching the trash get compacted is one of my all-time favorite moments of any movie ever. A little fun fact about the production: Sully's fur was a huge pain to get right, the artists at Pixar spent a whole load of time working it out and ended up doing a whole lot of trailblazing for hair simulation in CG moviemaking
FUN FACT: if I'm not wrong, the voice of the little girl was done by the daughter of one of the producers or a person in charge of the movie. I love that voice.
That Monsters at work was a series acting as a sequel, following a young monster, who had graduated as a Scare-er, joining the company shortly after they switch to laughs. The epilogue takes place after several episodes in.
Fun fact: the garbage scene is based on a Looney Tunes cartoon where Marc Anthony thinks that Pussyfoot turns into a cookie. Boo is named after her voice actress Mary Gibbs
I *adore* this film. I was 21 and went to see it in the cinema one Saturday morning on its release, and when I left, I went down the street to eat lunch in a nearby cafe, and then back to the cinema for the afternoon showing. And if I hadn't had plans for that evening, I'd have gone to the evening show too.
Each Pixar movie pushed the limits on animation/CGI technology and led to the innovation of new CGI components. For example, Monsters Inc. led to the animation team creating a new animation engine that was able to animate the individual hairs of Sully's fur so that each hair reacted independently rather than as a mass. This was ground-breaking at the time.
I remember how much I looked forward to this movie. The power of Pixar is the ability to tell a believable story through the delight that is animation. Pure adult escapism
Loved the Morgan scene you guys did there! Congrats on another sponsor! Loved your reactions at 34:41 & 35:11 😄 Oak's reaction when Boo got scared of Sulley. Interesting story concept of having fear from kids to power their 'world' but liked as story progressed they find out laughter is better, as the saying goes "laughter is th4 best medicine" & all your laughter reactions are just that! ^_^ nice seeing character development between Boo, Sulley & Wazowski , very heartwarming ending to the movie.
It's probably been 20 years since I last sat down and watched this and yet I still find myself singing "Put that thing back where it came from or so help meeeeee! bum bum bum bum bum bum" every now and then 🤣
This movie is so much fun! I can't wait for you guys to see the prequel, which is one of my biggest comfort films! Also seeing how protective Oak got throughout the whole thing was so wholesome lol. Anytime his Dad Mode comes out it's so sweet hahaha. Good dad right there! A fun bit of behind the scenes info, Billy Crystal got the role if Mike first, and was already great close friends with John Goodman, and he either told them he should be cast as Sulley or he had great influence on John getting sent the scripts as a pitch. Most of the time for animated movies, the voice actors not only record in separate studios, they record on different days and at different times, and some don't even end up meeting until the premier. Crystal and Goodman, being as close as they are, requested they film the whole thing together in the same room, and that's why their chemistry is so amazing! They improvised a TON of stuff, including the entire "put that thing back where it came from" scene! Also, because the voice actress for boo (Mary) was so little (I believe she was two years old) she obviously wouldn't sit still to record her lines, so they let her run around and play in the studio and followed her around with a mic to get her audio! In the scene where she's sitting on Sulley's bed and she shows him her drawing of Randall, she moves another drawing off of it, and on that drawing you can see the name Mary written in the top corner! Some people say this means that the little girl's actual name is Mary, while others just think it's a fun easter egg. Either way it's cute!
I never really thought about this till now, but usually when you hear your kid screaming their brains out in their room, the normal thing would be to not let them sleep alone for a while and/or move out if they keep talking about their closet like that, but since there’s a whole bunch of monsters being assigned to a whole bunch of kids, screaming at night as a kid must be such a regular thing in this universe🥴 like “oh your kid is screaming at night now? Yeah, my little Sarah started doing that when she was around 6” like BRO💀
Ugghh 41:00 i still cry happy tears at the end man. I also cry nostalgic-I miss- being a- kid tears 😢😢😢 man i used to watch this movie like every other day for years
The interview with the monster, saying mine powers and a laser beams is probably actually jackjacked from The Incredibles. Yes, because in the second one that they figured out he might be teleporting dimensions
the adult joke with the yellow snow😂😂😂 absolute perfection one of my favorite Pixar classics! Would you guys be interested in watching Guillermo del Torro's Pinocchio ? It's animated in Stop Motion and such a great re- telling of the tale and not necessarily a movie targeted towards kids If you ask me.
There is a actual sequel to this. Its a show called Monsters at Work. Season 1 takes place directly after Waternoose's arrest. Mike & Sully are around but they arent main characters, while it focuses on new characters. Season 2 is the direct sequel taking place after the end of the movie. Season 2 brings back characters from the prequel Monsters University. The show expands on the change from scare power to laugh power. They actually manage to bring back the majority of the cast back, the one person who i can remember they replaced is Jennifer Tilly for Season 2. Honestly while Season 1 is a tough watch, i think Season 2 is much better and better expanding the whole change from scare to laugh, while exploring what the Monster world thinks about the change.
Season 1 is a nice bit incredible but not bad. It was a good season to get to know the characters but I love season 2! The contractions and ending was perfect!
The Toy Story Easter egg is at the part when they threw Randall through the door and the house he ended up on (another gather) had the pizza planet truck parked next to it.
The Actress who plays Boo (Mary Gibbons) is 28 now. To get all of her babbles, words, noises and cries, they followed her around with a microphone for days as she played.
I would be so STOKED if you guys reacted to the bloopers! In fact, I say react to ALL Pixar bloopers, they are all super fun! Not only that, maybe you all can watch the shorts too! Not just shorts related to the main films, but also standalone shorts too! Maybe they can all be bundled into one video once all of the main films are reacted to as a sort of fond sendoff? I would be delighted to see it!
This is my personal favorite Pixar movie because this was the first movie I ever watched in theaters. I understand Oak about his son becoming a fan of the monsters. I had my moment too where I wore clothes, had toys, plushies and my birthday party was themed after Monsters Inc., and to this day, I still remember every line of the movie and even Mike's new car. Also, Boo might be the cutest kid in film.
@ thank you 🥺 Rn I’m doing thanksgiving catering at my job so you can probably guess why that’s stressful… and also pregnant with my first baby and trying to sort out a lot of convoluted doctors stuff… but right this moment I am home and I’m just gonna chill
One of my all time favourite childhood movies! Takes me way back! Youre never too old for these movies! So glad you got round to this one! Loving your content guys! 👍👌🤘😎💯🔥
You should definitely check out Monsters University. Monsters at Work is also fun! It’s a show that takes place right at the end of this movie as they experience the chaos of switching to laugh power and a monster who just got here for a new scaring job.
It’s a conspiracy that when the monsters were describing Boo on the news, they were actually talking about Jack Jack from “The Incredibles” because he also has the power of teleportation; and all the Pixar movies are supposed to be connected.
The last movie Billy Crystal was in was “Here Today” released in 2021. His latest project is on Apple TV, a thriller series called “Before” that premiered in October
Answer crying at the end is me crying at the end!! I love this movie (monsters university is my favorite but this one is top notch) and Oak's indignation over Boo being scared of Sully, perfection. Thanks for this guys!
I was 6 when this movie came out in 2001 and that ending always wrecked me. It's so bittersweet. I was so sad that they had to separate and even sadder when we didn't get to see an older her in the end. What a fantastic film.
I haven't watched this movie since I was a kid and its amazing to see what stuff I missed as a kid. For example, I did not pick up on the fact that the laughs were shown to be more powerful than the screams so early on in the film. I don't know how, but that part just completely went over my head.
Fun fact: Boo's voice actress was so young that they obviously couldn't have her sit in a recording booth and read lines from a script, so they followed her around with a microphone and recorded her as she played and went about her day. That's source accurate toddler babbling in this whole movie! 😂
Monsters Inc is just so damn good for kids and adults. It hits so hard with family while also being one of the most creative universes. Monsters University isn’t a masterpiece like this one but I think it’s still really good!

They need to watch UP 😁🥲🥺💔😭😭
@@michaelriddick7116 They already have, go check it out!
@@michaelriddick7116 they already did 2 years ago, it's on the channel😂
40:06 😂 I worked at a place that was basically the GameStop of movies. Anytime that we had received a copy of this film, I was adamant the sticker went overtop of Mike.
Whenever the fellas are watching an animated movie, I'm HERE FOR IT!! 😂😂
Still rewatch you HTTYD reaction..
You guys might need to go through the Disney Renaissance era movies if you haven't seen em, either: Hunchback, Hercules, Beauty & the Beast, Pocahontas, Mulan, Sleeping Beauty.

There is something so heartwarming and wholesome about this channel. You guys always go into movies with an open mind and even if it's something that doesn't end up being your cup of tea you're always nice and recognize that some people really do enjoy what you just watched, so you don't really tear it apart or anything. This channel somehow has cozy vibes, haha! It's like sitting on the couch with your cool dad or uncle or cousin and showing them something you really like. Thanks for being such a vibe!!
I’m 23. 24 in a week. And you guys always bring me back to my childhood when you watch older animated movies. You guys are absolutely hilarious and I love watching your videos. ❤❤❤
Happy early b-day.
@ thank you! 🙏🏽
HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY 🎉🎂🎊🎁
@@Letha-Mae thank you! 🥹
A film from 2001 is an "older" film.
Thanks for making me feel ancient!
Please watch the bloopers because thry contain the actual company show of 'Put that thing back where it came from or so help me'.
Mike's new car was a short included on the video when it came out (it was my last big movie I got on video) and I remember really enjoying that
I forgot they did a full number on Put That Thing Back. 😂 I still remember If I Didn’t Have You, which will always be my fave Billy Crystal song.
What I admire most about Pixar's films is how they open up a deeper understanding when viewed from an adult perspective. One such example is the scene in which Sulley realizes how scared he made Boo. It was one of the warmest childhood memories, as it was my first introduction to Pixar and American animation.
8:18 - the "Armageddon walk" was actually a copy of the same "astronaut walk" done in "The Right Stuff" from 1983.
yes I am a Right Stuff referrer. Shows my age
THANK YOU!
I came down here to say the same thing and that should watch the movie.
Which wasn’t in slow motion.
You can definitely tell what generation people are from watching scenes like that. I also think of The Right Stuff.
Mike on DVD box covers and other places had his face covered as a continuous running gag. The DVD cases had stickers that were directly over him, you can look it up lol
For Boo, they follow one of the artists daughters around with a microphone and cut her lines together using the random things/noises she say whilst playing.
Okay but the skit was so good 😂 I actually watched the whole ad lol
15:19 It's become a really fun and accepted fan theory that the kid they're talking about here is actually Jack Jack. If you remember that he has so many powers and can travel through dimensions. Obviously that wasn't the original intension but looking back now it fits really well😂
34 year old woman here lol watched this when I was 10 years old when this came out and I remember my mother having to deal with ALOT of rewatches of Disney movies when my sister and I were kids but this one she enjoyed quite a bit. Also congrats on Morgan & Morgan sponsoring you! 👏🏻👏🏻
This was one of my favorite movies as a kid a long with Emperors New Groove. This is gonna be good.
Emperors New Groove would be a hit to these guys
🎶KUZCOOOOOOO!!!🎶
I second emperors new groove it’s my fave Disney film
W moviesss
Jumpin' jack rabbits, Bob!!! 😂 Y'all too much. First Answer's oblique and now Mason Quinn getting shocked to hell. 😂 LOL
That skit was awesome! 😂🤌🏽
Another Pixar classic. "Mike Wazowski!"
Monsters University next! A great movie with a message that you don't often see in animated movies.
That Monsters at work was a series acting as a sequel, following a young monster, who had graduated as a Scare-er, joining the company shortly after they switch to laughs. The epilogue takes place after several episodes in.
In the danish version, Randall is voiced by Mads Mikkelsen. Ya know Le Chiffre and Hannibal.
Really? I didn't know that.
Another iconic voice: Randal’s henchman, Fungus, is voiced by Frank Oz!
I've never known that at all... you mean to tell me the guy who voices Mrs. Piggy and Bert voiced him and I'm just now learning at 24? Lol
As a 34 year old man, this is unironically one of my favorite movies of all time.
This movie was my childhood 😍 There were so many great animated movies from like mid 90s to early 2000s era
Yes, because in the second one that they figured out he might be teleporting dimensions
the adult joke with the yellow snow😂😂😂 absolute perfection
one of my favorite Pixar classics!
27:42 “Oh, well THAT’S THE WORST THING I’VE EVER SEEN IN A MOVIE!” Oak 🥺🥺🥺
I've loved this movie my entire life 🥲 so many great quotes as well 😅
BRO you have to admire the dedication of Oak to put off watching this _with his own children_ in order to watch it here. We are truly blessed
my daughter at one point looked EXACTLY like Boo. She had the short hair, round adorable cheeks and a VERY contagious laugh and smile
38:20 .... to the people who say MEN are emotionless....... 😢
I’m super stressed rn but gonna try and chill on my lunch break and vibe with these guys 😢
Hope you feel better soon-- be patient with yourself and try some self-care. You matter.
@ thank you 🥺 Rn I’m doing thanksgiving catering at my job so you can probably guess why that’s stressful… and also pregnant with my first baby and trying to sort out a lot of convoluted doctors stuff… but right this moment I am home and I’m just gonna chill
Aight dope choice y'all, NOW ya gotta watch Monsters University 🔥
One of my all time favourite childhood movies! Takes me way back! Youre never too old for these movies! So glad you got round to this one! Loving your content guys! 👍👌🤘😎💯🔥
Every now and again you guys get on an absolute roll and I’m here for it!
You should definitely check out Monsters University. Monsters at Work is also fun! It’s a show that takes place right at the end of this movie as they experience the chaos of switching to laugh power and a monster who just got here for a new scaring job.
2:00 has me dying 😂😂😂😂
After all these years Disney is now building a Monsters Inc Land with a Door Roller Coaster!
"2319! We have a 2319!" Lol this line was a thing back in February 3rd, 2019 because the date was marked down as 2/3/19.
Love this one! Hope y’all caught the bloopers / after scenes! They’re so cute too.
15:25 Monster: But it picked me up with its mind powers and shook me like a Badd Medicine😂😂😂
Always tickles me because "cousin's sister's daughter".... is still just a cousin 😆
I named my kitty Boo when I was a kid. lol she’s still with me. She’s about 16 years old now.
Awwe that's cute 🐈🐈⬛
Answer crying at the end is me crying at the end!! I love this movie (monsters university is my favorite but this one is top notch) and Oak's indignation over Boo being scared of Sully, perfection. Thanks for this guys!
Monsters Inc. is a fantastic movie. Believe it or not, the sequel “Monsters University” is even better. I cannot WAIT till y’all watch it
I was 6 when this movie came out in 2001 and that ending always wrecked me.
7:40 Always Watching Badd Medicine!
10:28 Nevermind!
10:45 2319!
13:12 Here's Boo!
14:00 Kitty!

28:48 Betrayal!
31:15 Not this time Dude
32:39 Mike Wazowski!
34:42 Get Him Boo!
35:11 Randall Got Buried!
35:35 Not in the Monsters Balls!
37:07 of course it's Ruzz
38:22 😢😭
40:35 Mike Wazowski For the Win!
I’ve forgotten what an amazing film this was.
One of my favorite movies!! So glad you guys are doing this one.
2:37 The skit for the add read had me so confused. 😂
Fun fact: Boo's voice actress was so young that they obviously couldn't have her sit in a recording booth and read lines from a script, so they followed her around with a microphone and recorded her as she played and went about her day. That's source accurate toddler babbling in this whole movie! 😂
How did they get the sad kitty when he leaves?
Monsters Inc is just so damn good for kids and adults. It hits so hard with family while also being one of the most creative universes.
Monsters University isn’t a masterpiece like this one but I think it’s still really good!
One of my all time favorite Pixar films!
