  • You do NOT need to remove the dishwasher like I did. I found this out the hard way.
    I had a tough time figuring out how to use my Kenmore Elite dishwasher's troubleshooting diagnostic cycle and couldn't find its manual online, so hopefully this will help someone else out. If you have one of the early Kenmore Elite models with no screen like I have, you'll count the blinking lights to figure out your error codes once you're in diagnostic mode. Write down your error codes, then go here to diagnose what your error code means: www.searspartsdirect.com/diy/...
    My Kenmore dishwasher wasn't getting the water hot enough. We first ran a test cycle by hitting the three buttons mentioned three times, then waiting 20 seconds for the lights "normal cycle" and "heated wash" to light up and start a test cycle. After going into diagnostic mode by hitting the three buttons mentioned and repeating, I had several error codes given. The most pressing one was F6E6, or Function 6 with error code 6 (the code was 6 blinks followed by a pause and 6 blinks). This likely points to a bad thermistor/thermostat, which makes sense. The dishwasher wasn't dissolving the soap, wasn't cleaning shortening off utensils, and we finally used a meat thermometer mid-cycle to find the water was only 90 degrees.
    I bought a used thermostat on Amazon for $8: amzn.to/38APIOE
    You do NOT need to remove the dishwasher like I did. Turn off the power to the dishwasher and take off the bottom panel. It's in the front left area. It takes a little pushing to get the new one on if yours comes with the plastic housing. Works great now.

    I replaced the heating element and also the thermistor on mine, same model. You don't need to disconnect everything or pull it all the way out. The bottom structure of the dishwasher is just frame support. turn off the circuit breaker, pull it out about 2and a half feet. You can reach the plastic screws and electric connections of the heating element and also the thermistor with your arms and a cresent wrench/pliers laying on the floor. Makes it much quicker and easier.

    Does anyone know of the address of the head quarters of the Sears Company or what is left of them.
    Our Kenmore Elite dishwasher would not work in the normal mode. It gave errors saying not enough water, start washing and the screen goes blank and starts beeping or it says there is too much suds (we only use Cascade) and not over fill the dispenser.
    I called Sears to come out and fix it. We have a whole house appliance contract on our appliances. I paid the $ 75 dollar for the service man to come out.
    He came in opened the dish washer, loosen the screws to the inside door panel and stared at it for several minutes and said 'You need a new dish washer". I told him OK and thanked him and he left.
    I came here and found this video and tried what you said and by golly it worked. It re-set the controller module and now my dish washer works on all cycles.
    I'm going to send a letter to someone at Sears and see if I can get my money back or at least gripe at them because the serviceman didn't have the knowledge to do what you said.
    I'm glad you put this on RUclips.

    Hi thanks for the video ., I have the same exact dish washer ., I have red light blinking rapidly where it says “locked” I’ve turn off the power at the circuit breaker and turn power back on after 5mins and still blinking rapidly, I press buttons on the control and they don’t even light up like the way they do for you ., I guess because of rapid blinking red light

      Try holding the "No Heat Dry" button (or possibly the lock button itself) for 8 seconds. You may have the child safety lock on. If it's still not working, there may be a stuck button, and you'll have to try fiddling with each button with door open.

    How do I find what code F2E2 means

    • @for5155
      @for5155  3 года назад

      Sorry, just updated the link to the correct one. Should work now. F2E2 means you need to check the wiring between the user interface control and the electronic control board. If the wires and connections are okay, replace the user interface control board. If the problem persists, replace the electronic control board. Aka, buy a new dishwasher.
