Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️ I’m slightly obsessed with black and white right now - can’t get enough! 😆 These 4 are 11”x15” so will fit well in a standard 11”x14” frame for sale. Smaller paintings I usually mat so that the outside dimensions fit into a standard frame and sell them in the mat only. It’s nice to have some options at a lower price point ☺️

I am still working on the last few lessons from CVP 2023, but yes, I've found it very valuable. I am fairly new (the last 5 years) to being an artist, but I think anybody at any level can learn from it! I have seen how some experienced artists ahve taken their work to an entirely new level. @jackieschomburgart There was about a 10-day long series of daily phone calls introducing the course in mid-February that I found very valuable just on its own, and the course started the last Monday in February. It'll likely be something similar next time.
These are 1. Gorgeous, and 2. Immensely inspirational and 3. Very Jackie! Just incredible. I wonder if you see yourself as productive when you complete a sitting such as this one?
Thank you! Any time I make something (ANYTHING) I feel productive. When my kids were all babies at the same time, it was so hard for me to even feed myself that art making felt impossible. I did so much during the days to care for the kids but it was all the things that don’t show up (feeding them, doing dishes, changing diapers, laundry etc) - nothing I could hold in my hand. I learned that life feels better when I have something that I can hold in my hand as proof that I accomplished something. Not every session produces a masterpiece, but every session does provide something I can hold in my hand that didn’t exist until I created it and that feels wonderful ❤️ It’s taken a while to get it through my head that it’s a numbers game - the more you make, the more “good ones” you end up with. If I set out to “make a good one” I tighten up and it’s awful 😂. How do you feel when you’ve made something?

Hi Jackie - was making some black collage papers using India Ink I needed to use up. I had a few small paint brushes lying there - some small pointy rounds, a small flat - I picked them all up at once and started drawing circles. Lots of nice lines because of properties of all the different brushes. I was using 4 at a time in unison - the small rounds making nice skinny lines and the small flat wider lines with twists in them as I made my circles. I thought of you!
Thank you so much Jackie, I really really enjoyed watching you creating these amazing and stunning abstracts. I really really love ❤️ them all too. I’ve subscribed and given you a thumb’s up too. Please stay safe and well too
Very nice! What will you do with these now? Frame them? Sell them? Give as gifts? Hang on your walls? Put in a binder to look at later? I’m asking because I often wonder what do to with the pieces I create.
Hi Vivian! Thank you ❤️ It really depends on the pieces. These will likely go into frames and/or added to my online shop (coming soon ☺️). Smaller pieces may be matted with wide matting for dramatic flair in a standard size frame. Others may be recycled into collage for a new painting. ☺️ What do you typically end up doing with your pieces?
I love the final product and I’d love to see more of this type of working from large to the smaller pieces and refining them. Question: what did you do with the final pages? Did you turn them into a journal, use them as collage fodder or something else?
I also really like the string and ribbon masking. I definitely want to try something like this bc years ago I bought a bunch of big watercolor sheets and this would be a great way to use them. I’m thinking I’d make a journal at the end. I think the biggest challenge for me would be limiting the color palette. I’m thinking of finding a triad I really want to explore and trying to limit myself to that but I know that I’ll want to throw the flourescents in bc I always do and then of course magenta. Maybe magenta and quin gold should be in my triad maybe with teal. Really enjoyed this video, it’s inspiring me for sure. Thanks again.
Thanks Laura! If I end up with some successful pieces, I’ll frame them and add them to my online shop. If not, I may use for collage or keep as a painting to add onto in a future video. It really depends on how the pieces turn out ❤️
I also really liked the black ink base; what surprises me most (and is a lesson for me) is that you Add color, Remove (or cover) color, and then Add color again until it feels 'right' to you.
love though how your using different techniques to create a interesting abstract piece of art- anything is possible- Ive been exploring gesso and textures and actually painting with a pallet knife

I really love your random markmaking. I can just imagine each of these really large…hanging on a gallery wall. Can you see these at 36x24 or larger. What’s the largest you’ve ever worked?
Hello! I love how you cut up the large paper into four smaller ones to make four separate art pieces. Can I ask, do you make your own black and white pattern tissue paper or do you buy it that way! I love those large black marks! Thank you!
Hi Debra! Thank you! I do make my own collage tissue - usually with a gel Press or just painting directly on to the tissue. Here are a couple videos of my process that you might enjoy: ruclips.net/video/_GgDsvLqdNc/видео.html ruclips.net/video/PfFU-wNCWEA/видео.html ruclips.net/video/8MlKr9NO_Ck/видео.html ruclips.net/video/MxPnpY5aFdw/видео.html Let me know if these are helpful! ❤️
I loved all four of these pieces, each with their own personalities so to speak. Thank you for demonstrating the mark making techniques you used in this video. I've wanted to purchase some Gelly Plates for awhile now and I feel it's time! what size do you recommend for a beginner in mixed media abstract art? I have also experimented with cutting down a larger piece of work into smaller pieces and enjoy this very much.
Thanks, Laurie! Definitely try it - it’s fun! I’d recommend getting a gelli plate that is about the size of the paper you’re going to print on, or a bit smaller. So if you’re going to print on 9x12” paper, try to get that size plate. I started with a 12x12” plate but usually use 9x12” paper so I always have to have other pages with half prints on them. Not a huge deal, but I wish I started with a 9x12” instead 😂 I hope you love exploring with your plate - let me know how it goes! ❤️
I really enjoyed your video. You used some water soluble crayons and I would love to know what those are I love using crayons and other types of color.
Thank you for watching! Yes, Neocolor II crayons! They are my favorite! Here’s an affiliate link if you’re interested in learning more: amzn.to/3qcRN1C
Oh that’s so kind of you to say - I’m so glad! These pages are about 8.5”x12” so I frame them to 16”x20” and sell each one for $175. Let me know if you’re interested in adding them to your art collection ❤️
Thanks for your patience with my delayed response, my son was hospitalized in the ICU shortly after your kind comment and I lost track of everything but him for a couple weeks (he’s much better now) ❤️
I'm constantly learning from your super videos. 🤩 May I ask, do you have a video for showing how you mark on tissue paper (and do you ever use rice paper)? Also what makes you use the roll of blue paper to dab off like you do? Thanks in advance 🙏
Hi Valerie! Yes, I have a few collage paper videos and almost all of them contain tissue paper ☺️ Here’s one: ruclips.net/video/PfFU-wNCWEA/видео.html And here’s part 2: ruclips.net/video/8MlKr9NO_Ck/видео.html I have a “collage” playlist that you might enjoy as well - it contains more collage paper making videos as well as my collage process ☺️
Oh, and the blue roll is just a roll of paper towels. I like the blue “shop towels” paper towels bc there isn’t any texture to them like most of the kitchen paper towels have.
New to your channel. I really enjoyed this Jackie. Love the ribbon effect. I’m going down to the studio to give that a try. Thanks so much for sharing!
This is the first video of yours I've watched. I'm assuming these are acrylic paints? What exactly is 80's colours? I'm curious does each decade have specific colors? This is the first time I've heard this. What are the current colors? 😅 I actually liked the finished look. Mixed media is becoming more interesting to me lately.
Hi! Welcome to my channel - so glad to have you watching 🤗 To me, 80s colors are just the colors I remember from when I was growing up 🌈 I won’t speak for anyone else, but for my own personal 2020’s colors are black & navy for my clothes and fluorescent red and celadon for my paintings 😆
love the colours. I dont have a gel plate or dont know what is a good one to start with or a brayer. Any suggestions for a newbie? I do water colour & mixed media. Love the idea of your use of the gel plate. Thank u for the inspiration
Thank you! I’d suggest getting a gelli arts or gel press gel plate of whatever size paper you like to use, if possible - my first one was 12”x12”, but I wished it had been 9”x12” bc I always had an extra 3” of the gelli plate to deal with lol I’d recommend buying a brayer in person if you have an art store nearby - some of them don’t roll as smoothly as others (they get stuck a bit like a wobbly wheel at the supermarket 😆). If you need to purchase online and you get one that sticks a bit, don’t worry too much - mine eventually smoothed out. 👍

Aww, thank you, Judi! I’ve gone as big as 36”x72” but I’ve been attracted to smaller work over the last year or so. I’ll go big again! ❤️
I loved the colors! 😂
Thank you!
That looked like so much fun! This video is inspiring me to head to the studio today. And, the results are wonderful. 💗
Yay! I’m so glad! ❤️
Loved these techniques!!
So glad! Thanks for letting me know! ❤️❤️❤️
They came out stunning
Thank you so much! ❤️
Here are a couple videos of my process that you might enjoy:

Just found out your channel yesterday and oh man!!! You are wonderful.. just got what i wanted to watch on youtube. You are very inspiring 😊
That’s so nice to hear, Aishwarya - thank you! So glad to have you watching! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for this information. I’ll keep you posted on my art therapy journey discovering my style!
Hi....what would you do with this lovely pieces? You've made me realise that I have to spend more time on my abstracts, and to use more collage
Oh that’s so kind of you to say - I’m so glad! These pages are about 8.5”x12” so I frame them to 16”x20” and sell each one for $175. Let me know if you’re interested in adding them to your art collection ❤️
Thanks for your patience with my delayed response, my son was hospitalized in the ICU shortly after your kind comment and I lost track of everything but him for a couple weeks (he’s much better now) ❤️
Love this so much, your process is so fun to watch, what a wonderful inspiration!tyvm!
Thank you, Lee! ❤️❤️❤️
I'm constantly learning from your super videos. 🤩 May I ask, do you have a video for showing how you mark on tissue paper (and do you ever use rice paper)? Also what makes you use the roll of blue paper to dab off like you do? Thanks in advance 🙏
Hi Valerie! Yes, I have a few collage paper videos and almost all of them contain tissue paper ☺️
Here’s one: ruclips.net/video/PfFU-wNCWEA/видео.html
And here’s part 2: ruclips.net/video/8MlKr9NO_Ck/видео.html
I have a “collage” playlist that you might enjoy as well - it contains more collage paper making videos as well as my collage process ☺️
So glad to have you watching - thanks Diane! ❤️❤️❤️
I love that you don’t have to talk the whole time.
Thanks :) I try to only talk when I have something to say - but I do go on tangents from time to time 😆
Hi im new to your channel. I like both ive seen so far. So since i use the color combo a lot I didn’t think it was over the top at all 😂
Hello and welcome! ❤️❤️❤️
This is the first video of yours I've watched. I'm assuming these are acrylic paints? What exactly is 80's colours? I'm curious does each decade have specific colors? This is the first time I've heard this. What are the current colors? 😅
I actually liked the finished look.
They're amazing!!
Thanks Peggy! ❤️
Can you show how you would frame these? Mat, Mount or ? ….
Hi Laurel, yes! I just posted a framed version of one of them on my Instagram page (instagram.com/jackieschomburgart) ☺️
“Art is what you can get away with”
Totally agree! 💯
Love your channel ❤ and your art ❤ what type of paper do you use?
Hi Catherine, thank you! ❤️ I usually use mixed media paper or watercolor paper. Ideally 300gsm, but it can get expensive!
@@jackieschomburgart thank you 🙏🏻 absolutely love your channel been binge watching all your videos ❤️
@@catherinetaylor2690 ❤️❤️❤️
How could I make that flouro red? I have fluorescent paints tube set but no red …
Great question! Unfortunately, I have no idea if it’s possible, but if you figure out how to do it, let me know! 🤩
Brilliant so glag i located you.
Thanks so much, Mary - I’m so glad you did too! ❤️
What medium do you use to adhere your collage papers? Thanks.
Gloss medium :)
I love the art. The colors, the textures. Why are you rushing through the process.
Thank you! ❤️ I don’t recall rushing through the process - is that what it felt like to you?
Hi Jackie, im sorry but are u the person that sent me an email for me to send you picks from where I live in Spain?
I lost who it was 😢 could be you?
Sorry, Maria - I’m not the person. I hope you figure out who it was (and that you are having a lovely time in Spain)! ❤️
