- I was the "ugly duckling". There is hope for ugly ducklings! LOL! Prior to getting dentures, I looked pretty rough. Just sharing a little background on my self image and how dentures gave me confidence I never really had. I "grew into my looks", if that makes sense. It's all about confidence!

It's so nice to see I'm not the only young person with dentures. They naturally fell out after I had my boy @ 18, I'm 23 now. I've had them for about a year but I'm still not comfortable with them. I seen a few vlogs with young women with dentures. It gives me a little confidence back. Lastly, I was "that kid" in school, too until I turned 20 and discovered the pin up look. I always loved anything of the 40s/50s/60s. Anyway, thank you for brightening my day!
Much love from Canada
Also, do you have advice on how to have my dentures altered to look more real, natural?
I think it's destiny that I found you and your videos today. Thank you for your transparency. I relate to you so much
Thank you so much for these videos I have a genetic disease that is causing me to lose all my teeth I'm about to start my journey to dentures at only 25 it's been devastating to say the least but I can't wait to not be in pain anymore. your videos were the first I found and they've put my mind at ease. you are beautiful inside and out!
Thanks so much for all of your kind words and I am more excited then nervous now bc I will be able to smile again!!! It's gonna all work out and I am having 16 teeth removed and immediate dentures but in ;) I will let you know how it goes !!!
You are truly inspirational. This entire video it seems as if you've stepped into my own shoes and discussed my own life story. I as well went through every awkward, weird phase from child to adult, now being 27 years old, and I am only a few days away from having my surgery and going through the process of dentures to implants. I'm beyond thankful, blessed and excited for this opportunity and am nervous to see my appearance once I receive even the first stage with my temporary dentures. I have never had a beautiful smile my entire life and I am beyond nervous and excited at the same time. Your videos have put me at ease and helped my through many emotions and questions I am currently battling. Thank you. You are such an amazing support for me, a stranger, more than you know.
Hi kaylix I watched your videos on and off since last year. I'm 43 I just had a birthday on Jan 2nd. And my gift to my self was to have all my teeth extracted by my 43rd birthday and I did. With the support from your video's really took away all my fear. I just finished having all the top done and tomorrow going for the appointment for the imprint. I had to wait until all the swelling went down because I'm not a warrior. You're very brave gosh I know it was pain full for you. WOW!!!! So I wanted to express my journey to you. You had given me more support with your kind words than my child's father who I've been with on and off . I actually seen him yesterday for the first time since all my teeth were pulled and he started telling me in a slightly loud voice why I didn't take care of my teeth. I'm 43 right and he said the most hurtful words to me you look like your 50 now. I can't even cry really that's how bad the pain is deep deeply inside. I accepted what was going to happen to me. And I said why would you say something like that to me what happened to the support I needed from you (him). It was like I just wanted to crawl in a whole just for that moment. But I didn't want him to feel like he was winning or succeed in making me feel like a crack head or addict. Oh and the second insult was I looked like a addict. I really felt like this is the man I spent over 18yrs with and we have a 22yr old son together. For him to look at me in a different way with a blink of a eye. Wow that really tells me something about so called love. I truly felt like I was a so ugly and I'm not vein at all. I felt beautiful still without my teeth. I will post pics soon. Sorry my comment is so long but your the only person I wanted to speak to about this and all the followers. If they see it. If you guys have a supportive husband - boyfriend hang on to him because he loves you.
Wow. I'm so sorry you had to deal with that on top of dealing with losing your teeth. Look, just because someone says something about you, doesn't make it true. This is not a "truth"..... someone else could look at you and think you were the most beautiful person to walk the face of the earth. Honestly. You did this for you, not for him. Just remember that. We can't please everyone. Some people are going to say hurtful things but it's up to us to decide whether or not we regard it as a truth. If someone can't treat you right and respect you, find someone else. Life is too short and TRUST me, there are PLENTY of other fish out there... Hang in there! And congrats for getting the courage up!
I'm only at the looking at the videos stage. You have made an impression on me like no other! Thank you for your very candid approach. I have no confidence and feel very much like you have described feeling before your transformation. I'm 53 and have been feeling old and hopeless with my ugly teeth, but I'm having renewed confidence now. Hopefully I will soon have the opportunity to join the ranks of confident denture wearers gain the confidence that comes with it. Thanks again. You are beautiful!!
I wanted to thank you for your videos. I'm 24 and recently had my teeth extracted.. genetics, braces(glue) being on too long, poor diet, and just not taking good enough care I decided it was a smarter choice to get dentures rather than spending triple the cost to fix everything with crowns which aren't even my real teeth anyways and can just as easily all fall off. I haven't been able to truly smile showing my teeth in years embarrassed at the state they were in so I chose this option fast and before I knew it my teeth were gone and I started to wonder if I made the right choice.. I wasn't informed about anything and a few nights ago was online reading about the "changing face" or how the bone starts to disappear rapidly which frightened me and I broke down and cried thinking I would not only look old/distorted but no one would love me ever again because i'm so young its not socially acceptable. But knowing you're close to my age and seeing your beautiful smile progress with different types/realignment options has given me that glimmer of hope again to get through it. Wish there was more down to earth people like you!
Thank you so much for all your videos! You are an absolutely excellent communicator, in addition to being highly intelligent and very honest. You have helped me enormously. I've just had all my teeth extracted (18 in all), have my temporary dentures, and am now waiting a couple of months for my implants. Eventually, I will have implant supported removable dentures. Your knowledge, and the way you communicate it will be helping so many people, especially younger women. Thank you, kalinjax!
Geesh LOL i'm blushing! Haha. Thank you for your encouraging words =) I am happy to be of help, good luck in your healing and transition to implants!
Great sharing! Your candid sharing is so nice. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Thankyou so much Kristy for these videos,, am very grateful to be able to watch them while I am going through the process. Getting my permanent dentures soon but not soon enough, lol! anyway, I love watching your videos ,, keep more coming girl!! sharon in orange park
Great Video by the way! I appreciate you taking the time outta your day to make these Videos!! And this video was great cause it was a bit of a change up from the ordinary denture/implant videos. So it's good to have different subjects and not just denture videos!! Mad love coming from South Philly!! Barb W. And thanks again for the Christmas card.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed! You're more than welcome!
I've always had very poor teeth. They are very fragile. Its due genetics and the fact I was diagnosed with Celiac disease when I was around 8 years old. Because of that, I didn't absorb Calcium and other things needed for enamel of the teeth. The enamel starts to build around 7-8 years old, so mine didn't get hard enough. PLUS I had to restrict milk because doctors suspected I have lactose intolerance. I didn't have it, but because I had to be without milk so long, I never learnt to drink it again. Also, because I had so terrible teeth, I didn't take care of them (I thought it was useless, it sure wasn't). I've had every teeth repaired in hospital for 3 times (That is costly). Now I have very few teeth left. I have restricted all sorts of candies so they survive until I get dentures. I have time for denture planning in 1 month. I'm young, 24-years old, but I would never have enough money for implants or bridges, they are very costly. Just have to get normal plastic ones, either partial or full.
Ugly Ducklings Turn into Beautiful Swans!!
Amen!
And I agree I was born with the ugly duckling syndrome as well. And so I know exactly how you felt.
Thank you so much for the open and honest videos. This all hits so close to home for me, we've very much had a lot of the same dental health experience but I've never heard anyone else talk about it. I just had all of my teeth extracted finally, and it was a little brutal but I survived.... Part of my problem was that I was transgender and didn't identify as a guy, so I didn't care about myself or getting my teeth fixed, i brushed 3 times a day but it didn't do any good... drinking soda, bad diet and poor genetics, the same story as yours pretty much screwed me... also when I was 8-9 years old a dentist put silver caps and a bunch of other heavy metal in my brother and I's back teeth which sort of set the course for fucked up teeth the rest of my life until finally getting rid of them... I didn't do anything about them though until I got on hormone therapy and started transitioning, and I feel so much healthier since they're gone. They were making me so sick physically and had me in a mental fog. I get my dentures next Friday and I'm sure I"m going to cry... it's such a socially stigmatizing emotional thing being stuck going through life with bad teeth and it took so much energy trying to hide them when I talked etc... Congrats on improving your life, you look amazing.
Yeah a new video! I'm so excited that the next video you make will be A How to Clean your Bridges Video!! Also, I think I told you that I have been researching about the All on 4 and I believe I am gonna go to Dr. golpa for sure!!
Awesome! And yes, it is a highly anticipated video but one that requires planning and the assistance of a camera girl haha. My sister is going to help. It's tricky because the process is sort of.... involved lol.
I bet! That would be really nice for your sister to join in on the video! Can't wait to see the video soon ! Thanks again!
Oh wow! Jan. 7 is my son’s birthday also. What a coincidence!
Again, I TRULY appreciate you and your movement! . . .( Honestly, your personality even BEFORE the teeth was attractive and easy to know and probably someone my friends and I would have dated! ) lol Yet again, thanks for sharing! #CHEERS and #BRAVO Kal! :D
I love your videos! I probably mentioned earlier that i am a retired Dental Hygienist and believe me i can tell you from my own personal experience that the looks of your teeth/smile can have a huge impact on the way you feel about yourself. From a young age i have always had beautiful straight perfect teeth so WAS quite confident growing up, so confident that because my childhood dentist encouraged me because of good grades in Science and probably because of my pretty teeth, to go into the Dental Field which i did for 25 years. However, I am older now and over the years have had my share of dental work including permanent bridges root canals, etc. Now, unfortunately, things have gone wrong with an extensive bridge which involved almost one quadrant of my mouth. It involved removal of bridge, extractions and a totally different look for me for a short duration, thankfully.
As of now i have a very nice lightweight removable partial which is made by a company called DuraFlex.....it is unbelievable what a fabulous job they have done replacing so many teeth and i have my confidence back. I also found a wonderful dentist who did a perfect job taking perfect
impressions along with working with a top notch lab. These are two
extremely important steps. Bad impressions and bad labs equal bad
fitting bridges, crowns, partials, implants.
feel everything has healed and hopefully the bone has filled in so i am seriously considering 2 implants but the cost is unbelievably expensive at over $3000 per tooth plus more dental work to fill in the spaces. I am really torn as to weather to go ahead with the implants or just stay comfortable with my not too bothersome partial.
But what i mainly wanted to say is how much I agree with you as to the level of confidence we have depending on what our smile looks like. My heart has always gone out to anyone who has suffered through dental problems or have missing teeth which they cant afford to replace.
I personally cried when i looked at myself in the mirror after my few teeth were pulled and i could kiss the people who invented this wonderful material in my partial and my dentist who agreed to make the partial for me. It has given me time to make the huge decision on weather or not to take the chance on getting implants, i do have the luxury of going ahead with them or not. I really wish more dentists would discuss this option with their patients who can't afford costly implants which can also
fail if not done properly.
I have really enjoyed your videos and the help you have given so many people including me who had been in the dental profession for many years but have had little experience or knowledge about implants.
I am so happy for you, you are very intelligent as someone else mentioned and we can see what a beautiful smile can do for the confidence of a person.......you are a beautiful person inside and out and someone should hire you as a representative for implants. You could probably go work for an implant specialist you would be GREAT, compassionate and understanding with the patients. I wish you continued confidence with your beautiful smile and thank you for all of
your help, I love your videos.
I
Thank you SO much for the encouragement. I am sorry that you have had to go through all that you have but thank you for sharing! Hopefully this can open peoples' eyes and see that this issue knows no boundaries, honestly. It's something SO many people have to struggle with, even those in the dental health field! Too many times people want to jump to conclusions and assume "drugs" or "bad hygiene or whatever.... but even the most educated, well informed of us all can fall victim to a decline in oral health! Implants are ideal for pretty much most people faced with tooth loss.... but price seems to always determine whether one gets excellent, state-of-the-art care or "this will do because it's all I can afford". That totally needs to change. People just don't even fully understand how something as "simple" as tooth decay and poor oral health can affect many other areas of society. I recently talked to a teenager (and if you're reading this, hello young woman!) who wants to become a doctor but because of he inability to fix her teeth, she has considered opting for a nursing program instead. Not that there is anything wrong with being a nurse but this problem causes people to not be able to reach their full potential. Oh I could write a book (and I just did, sorry!) but reading your comment just really drives the point home that things desperately need to change! I am so very glad you are doing well!
This is such an inspirational video. I thank you so much for sharing this. It's like you're telling my story. This is a video I'll watch when I'm feeling down. I have dentures for 1 month now. Thank you so much Kalinjax!!!
What a inspiring video, you are a beautiful person, you explain things so well, I wish you had pictures when you were younger, Iam a new subscriber, I have a lot of catching up to do ! Beautiful smile !
please it's such a hard thing to talk about but I'm 26 and have been with this 5yrs now..... and its time to do somthink about it.... but I've had that much work in the past that now I'm scared to do anything but can't carry on like this.... but looking at your vids it's like looking at myself.... but how I would like to be
You probably know me from DANS as William. I have not been wearing mine because 1 I have not gone anywhere. And 2 they are too small. They don't look like average looking teeth. I guess thats what I get going cheap on them. And that along with the worry my jawline has looked smaller and all.
Happy birthday from uk 😘 xx
I want to Thank you for the wonderful video's you are sharing on you tube about dentures and implants.
My spouse is going to have all of her upper teeth removed because the bridge she has is no longer secured
Is loose due to bone density deterioration. Obviously she was careless with her oral hygiene and one thing led to another and now the time has come for complete upper removal.
She is sad and she thinks is the end of the world, it is 3.45 am and couldn't sleep just because my wife is thinking the worst .i am going to show her and transalate your video to her so she can realize there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Your video's shows a beautiful women smiling with confidence. And i want my wife to see this.
Thank you again.
this vid is so real for me
When my mom took us to Disneyland she surprised us too!
Well you have turned into the most beautful woman in the world. You have the most perfect looking face
Hey Kristi I have been trying to reply to the comments you left on my videos however for some reason it's not allowing me to reply. That's why I usually just put a comment right under the video but I know that's not the right way to do it but it gets the job done!!
This happens every once in a while to me and I really don't understand it. For instance, Ellie Kolesik, I can't reply to your comment for some reason, but thank you! This RUclips/Google+ merge is the WORST. So many details they didn't work out. It's frustrating!
I agree I don't like it at all!
Just described me lol down to that awful hair and clothes lol I don't have dentures but I'm going down that route I also have 10 yr old autistic son I'm nearly 29
please I need your help..... your life is how my life us going I'm happy in everything but there's one thing that's stopping me ...
i hate how people treat me cuz of my teeth, cuz i was born missing buds for my lateral incisors, got a space in the front teeth and the rest are falling apart due to sloppy filling work, malocclusion, dry mouth, vitamin deficiency, dental infections that lead to extractions, always been under weight and not by choice, now aging. people just assume im a drug addict and it hurts. and as a kid my parents always dressed me like an idiot and cut my hair funny.
Awesome video! God can I relate to everything you said!!!
xoxox 👍
Ty for sharing ur story ... I have a question for ya ... Getting the all on 4 if u have some upper teeth do they remove them & give u the temporary right then and there orrrr do u have to wait for it to heal go back for temp then go back for permanent ? I kno u had dentures previously but hoping u can answer that quest :) Thanks
From what I understand, you go in to get your teeth extracted and implants placed the same day. You'll leave with no teeth, but you can request a surgical mask. The next day, you go back for your temporary bridges. These will last from 3-6 months, at which point, you will go back for your permanent set. I hope this helps.
I want to finally grow into my looks too. My do I hate my teeth.
i get that. me too
I know the pain..
Hey !! I am having my procedure done tomarrow have you ever had the pill form of oral sadation ? If so what does it do I am so nervous !!
Hmm? No, I haven't! But I know nervous! When I got my implants done by Dr. Golpa, I had IV sedation combined with nitrous oxide.... I have a totally irrational fear of the mask! I seriously always feared that I wouldn't wake up. I hate feeling "out of control", it makes me panic. It was SO lovely! Like going in, taking a cozy nap, and waking up with implants! So, while I don't have experience with the pill and can't tell you exactly what happens, I can tell you that they are going to have to have you comfortable.... they just can't perform a successful procedure with you on edge, in pain, squirming about. So whatever it does, i'm sure it probably gets the job done! Hope this helps at least ease your worries a tad?
Oh, and good luck, good vibes and all that jazz! I'm sure you'll do great!
Well I survived!! My teeth are beautiful Thanks for all of your videos the really help me and the oral sadation in pill form helped a great deal :)
@@lucylou2939 Was it dentures or implants that you have? I can't afford implants.😥
Laurie J Kase mine are dentures (:
you are so beautiful😊😊
