I watched you 3 years and 2 months ago for the first time. I randomly stumbled across your blog/website while considering options to fix my smile and I watched so many of your videos and I believed everything you said but it never got through to me then the way it is now... Now that I've had the procedure done. Now I understand from an insiders point of view and you're so right and it's making me cry. They're not my teeth but I feel the best I've ever felt in my life. I feel so pretty. So happy, so confident. I have no fear anymore. I'm not afraid of dating and I'm not afraid that if I get rejected, that it's because of my teeth. This has been so emotional and I feel like I've truly come full circle. From watching your videos wondering if this could be my future to this being my present. It's been almost 2 weeks with my top denture and I'm so freaking happy that you decided to make these videos 7+ years ago because whether you know it or not, you helped save me. I don't feel like I'm worthless anymore. I don't feel like I don't matter. I do matter. So thank you! Thank you more than you will ever know.

This video has actually given me a better perspective. I turn 37 this year and I’m freaking out because I was told I need to get full upper and lower dentures. I’m terrified of everyone noticing, not talking right, them popping out in awkward moments. But seeing how well u are doing in two weeks gives me hope.

I just wanted to say how glad I am that I found your videos. I'm 53 years old. I'm having my teeth pulled and immediate dentures put in on April 3rd. I'm really scared and sad. Your videos are awesome and make me feel so much better about what is to come. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

Just had all my teeth removed 3 days ago (mine also had to be surgically removed, all of them as most of them were broken off at the gum line) and "healing" dentures put in my mouth. I opted for the IV to put me stone cold out and once the surgeon turned on the drip I was out in no more than 5 seconds. Woke up 45 minutes later with a full set (upper and lower) healing dentures staring back at me in the mirror.
I don't remember anything from the surgeon turning on the drip until they woke me up again.
I saw my dentist the next day for him to give me my post op inspection and he said he was baffled as there is no swelling and I'm talking like normal other than words with an S in them. I go see him again on Wed this week for him to pull out the dentures just in case I can't get them back in by myself he'll help me. Truth is I've already pulled them out several times to clean then but I want him to look at my gums to make sure that I'm healing alright, I've got disolving stitches where each tooth (except the molars I can't see any stitches there, maybe there on the inside) that should disolve in 7 to 10 days the surgeon said. I'm so SO happy I finally had this done after 9 years of terrible toothaches all the time and rotten breath from the rotten teeth etc.
I think most people are scared before the surgery but are so happy once it's all over and no matter what I tell you, you will never believe me that I don't feel anything from it, and don't remember the surgery at all but you will once it's over. If you're really freaked and need to do this, then opt for the IV sleep and nitrous gas, you'll be stumbling out of the dentists office with a bloody but beautiful smile. It was so SO worth it. I can now open my mouth when I talk instead of trying to keep it as tightly closed and mumbling all the time and now in pictures I can smile and show "my" teeth which I haven't been able to do since I was about 10 or 12 years old.

    watching in 2016.
27 years old myself, just got my teeth removed and had my immidiate put it.
it hurts, but seeing myself in the mirror it was worth every penny. no more hiding my smile for pictures, no more being careful how I laugh to no let people see in my mouth.
if you need this done, do it. it hurts, but if your mouth is anything like mine was, it's more of a relief than anything

Leilababy89 it takes about a couple of weeks, but after that you can eat whatever you want. my teeth were horrible so I can actually enjoy more foods now, that I wouldn't go near before. no one can tell even when kissing if you have dentures. if your teeth were like mine, and you've thought about doing this, do it. if your teeth are bad enough to where you've even thought about this, do it. best decision of my life. my kids now have pictures with their dad where he is smiling

I just want to say....this video is sooo helpful....I am also 26 and fixing to be going to get all me teeth pulled and get dentures. I am sooo scared to do it but the thought of being able to smile without worry and never have another infectious tooth in my mouth seems soo worth it!!! But being only 26 and having 2 kids and a full time job where I deal with the public everyday...it is soo scary to think about the process!!!

I have so far listened to your first two videos. I am soon suppose to have surgery. And I am frightened. I am having mandibular tori that's under my tongue and the roof of my mouth and 24 teeth cut out, all in one surgery. I can not find anything on here where someone has had this done, although I'm sure there has been. I commend you for getting these video up and keeping them on for others. They are a comfort. Thank you.

My extractions and dentures are tomorrow. I'm not afraid after you showed the way. I'm totally excited because last week I gave the dentist a pic of myself with the old smile and he's going to make it as identical as possible....even the space in the front! I'm older and picked the exact color of my existing good parts of my teeth, a natural ivory. He has a before and after book. What an artist! My new teeth will look real. ..and face should fill out some...
    Wow you are so beautiful!
Thanks for your help and experience :)

I love these videos!! When i got my top teeth pulled in 2010 i had no idea there was anything like these or any type of supports, i found your videos may 2017 when i finally got my bottom teeth pulled an was waiting for my new full set of dentures and you have no idea how excited and relieved i was to kno im not alone! I felt like a piece of crap because i was so young and needed dentures and i started watching all of your videos and instantly felt better! Thank you so much for having the courage to put yourself out there to let others know we arent alone in this journey!!! I appreciate and respect you so much and i kno exactly how you felt about living with shitty teeth but not wanting to get them pulled, i put it off for years and once i decided to get them taken care of in 2010 i felt like a brand new woman and i had a top denture and bottom partial, after a couple years my bottom teeth went bad to the point they were breaking and falling apart and it wasnt even painful because my teeth were so bad! I lived like that until april of 2017 and i finally decided to get my bottom teeth taken care of and i went back to the dentist i had in 2010 since he knew me and had my records plus i loved my dentures and the way they looked! My first appt back with him they took xrays andbi begged the nurse to just have my teeth pulled that visit but she said he would set up another appt for that so when he came in after looking at how bad my teeth were he asked me how i felt abt getting them pulled that day and i couldnt have been happier lol sounds funny that i was ecstatic abt having my teeth pulled lol but they were so bad he had to surgically remove them and put stitches in because it was a huge mess in there but leaving his office that day i felt the biggest relief and accomplishment. I was finally getting my self back and waiting for that day to go pick up my new teeth lol was like a child waiting for christmas!!! So much excitement and anxiety all these different emotions and as soon as i got them i could instantly feel my self esteem go through the roof! I am now almost 6 months post extractions and needing a reline and have my appt set in nov and i can not wait to get them to "refit" again lol they are so loose even adhesive doesnt work very well and i used the at home reline kit from reline it and that works although it taste disgusting its working until i can get to my appt!! Sorry for the long comment but you are the very first person i watched going through this journey and i watched or tried to watch every video of yours as you were going on your journey and it gave me hope and made me realize im not alone! Thank you so very much

Seriously, this video made me cry. With happiness and relief. Im a 39 yr old female and was just recently told I have to get dentures after going in thinking I could get braces to straighten my teeth. I felt like I was hit by struck with that news. I knew my teeth were bad but not that bad. I've been trying to wrap my head around the whole process and I was terrified ...until I found your page. THANK YOU so much for posting all your videos. It's comforting to know that there are people out there who feel the same way about dentures and have gone through the process at a young age. (I still consider myself young lol) my parents, who wear dentures wouldn't post anything about them lol so thank you and bless your heart for sharing your story. You've made a difference in my life just because of it. :)

Laura Neaves I am opting for implants as well. Im still trying to get the nerve to make the appointment. I have to do it sooner or later. My teeth feel like they're shifting rapidly, almost telling me that it's time to just get it done. You can do it!! Let's follow each others process. Follow me or dm @islandempire on IG. It'll go by fast and you'll have an even more beautiful smile. That's what I'm telling myself everyday. Stay strong and patient.

I'm really scared that my life is over. I'm single and I don't think there's no way I'll be able to date because how am I going to eat? Anyway thanks for answering. I've messaged her and she never answered. THANK you.

It's another chapter in your life. Not the end of of it. See it this way, no one has to know they're fake. Especially if you're getting the implants that snap in where you don't have to remove them in front of anyone...but even if you had the regular dentures, if you find the right person, they won't judge you or dislike you for having them. Many people have gone through this, we're not alone on this journey. :)

Hi there, probably 8 years ago I got a full clearance (all teeth out in one go), I am 43 now. I can say it was the best thing I have ever done, it took a lifetime of decision making, dentist extreme phobia, and the cost to even get what was to a slightly decent whiter smile. I had choice of £3k to just remove the messy ones and a brighten up, this before further treatments, or about $4 odd k pending on where you are. I couldn't eat without breaking bits of my original teeth, or chewing on one side carefully. I went to a dentist first and they threw me out saying full removals were barbaric, ok, next one wanted to help on the NHS (free healthcare here), I was unemployed at the time. A private dentist wanted to do an x-ray then long story short, he would put me toward an NHS surgeon to do my clearance, ok then :) My NHS dentist made me a set up before I even had the clearance from a gum mould (and my original teeth), then I took these to the surgeon on operation day. I woke up with them in, superb. Healing was a little sore, several months later, fine, all healed and could eat absolutely anything, steaks, apples, pears the lot. I visit the dentist once a year now, ive had several new sets made on the journey through. Now if you asked me, well from going from very near fainting with pain, to now, well, i'm well happy now :)

@mislastchild Mine protruded at first. If you compare the first videos to the subsequent ones you will notice a huge difference. When they do the reline, they have to REALLY shove them bad boys back as far as they will go in order to correct that problem. Unless they were just made wrong, in which case I would demand that they fix them....

@randr73093 Yes I had a bone fragment pop up on the bottom front and OMG it hurt, that hurt worse probably than anything else because I almost couldn't wear the bottoms at all. I just religiously gargled with salt water (I mean almost like constantly) and it came right on out. Just make sure you are keeping the area as clean as possible to prevent infection and keep up with your rinses and it will resolve itself. I got my dentures on December 15th last year:-)

I just want to say...THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Watching you had helped me make the decision I did and I'm so thankful you helped me make up my mind I just turned 50 this year and I too struggled with bad teeth. They really started getting bad at about 45 when I started losng teeth. Well, I finally said now that I have a daughter ready to graduate college, it was TIME FOR ME!
I just had my teeth pulled yesterday and I'm heading out to see him today. But anyway....the first hour after extractions it was ok then hour 3 I had to go get my prescription. Well this morning I was better. I took my dentures off after the 24 hrs and they told me to swish salt water around and its a bit shocking to see yourself without teeth. But I am struggling with talking and eating even yogurt. It seems like my top denture towards my nose is way too high and there is a big bump before the tongue hits the front teeth so I sound like I have a denture in my mouth. Also the bottom is really loose. So I know they had issues with taking the impressions but do you think they had it wrong? Because watching your videos you were talking really well afterwards.

Hi! I have watched a lot of your videos and so happy for you. Tomorrow is 2 weeks since I had 23 extractions and immediates done. I wore them non stop for 5 days, taking them out and cleaning them of course, per my oral surgeon. He wanted me to do a week, I just couldn't. The sores were so painful, it brought me to tears taking them out and putting them back in. I went to the dentist the day after surgery for check up and a couple days later, each time the filed them down a little, but no help. Sooooo, I have had them out for 8 days now and my two week check up is tomorrow. I CANNOT put them in. I tried numbing my entire gums with orajel and ambesol, and it still hurt to even try to put them in. I am scared to death to go tomorrow. I was in tears tonight cause I am just so frustrated. I want to smile!!! Any advice???

I'm in the UK I wish my dentist would of gave me something to carm me down although I had them out in 4s or 5s at a time manly because I have bad anxiety and was terrified of the dentist, but the last time I went he took my 2 front teeth and 1 at the bk and the injection at the front was horrible (the others weren't nice but these were something else) the pain went up my face and even made my eyes water after he had to sit me up and take my pulse and slow my breathing down, if he had given me something maybe it wouldn't of been so bad still worth it in the end

I have been watching your videos because I'm getting 20 teeth pulled tomorrow morning from affordable dentures. I saw another video where you had to get a refund from them...that scares me to death!

Please don't worry! It varies from location to location, honestly. I've talked to many people who got gorgeous dentures from Affordable Dentures and have had overall pleasant experiences. This is a temporary set for you. In six months to a year it will need to be replaced, then you can be more involved in the creative process of your dentures. Good luck tomorrow!!

You are not their worst patient, they are not good surgeons. My sister completed all those procedures back- home and she did not take any medication, any pain medication, any antibiotics, any morphine, and everything was perfect, no gums were swollen at all. The dentures were fit perfectly from the first minute. She never relined them, and they never rocked.
However she went to repair a broken front tooth in this new country that I suppose is yours too , but they trimmed one side of her dentures teeth without informing her. Then she was advised a reline, but she never could have it fixed properly. She lost a fortune making new relines, then new dentures, but none of them helped her chew properly, as they wanted her to extract her lower teeth and make new lower dentures. Money counts.
my daughter had a root canal in Canada, and it was awful. they prescribed Tylenol 3 and she almost died from it at night. She got pale, short of breath, tremor, cold sweat.
I am amazed at the incapacity of dentists and denturists who are not well qualified, and are so expensive. here in our country.
Also my mother's neighbour uses her dentures just to go out. She could never chew with them. She chews with her jaws or grinds her food.
My neighbour went to a denturist for a reline, who was a quack too, who trimmed two or three lateral teeth without informing her. She felt the roughness after wearing the denture.
Now there is a discrepancy between the upper denture and her lower teeth, and she will have to make new dentures. She is afraid to go to any denturists she lost her faith in them too.

My teeth were like yours... I didn't have any way to pay for it really, I ended up getting on the DeltaDental insurance that I paid for out of pocket for a year first... $35 a month... then after a year I went to an oral surgeon and paid for x rays and a consultation, and luckily he ended up in the Delta Dental network... he quoted me $6299 to remove 27 teeth and to do the deal where they prepare your gums/mouth so dentures fit better, alveoplasty or something similar to that which was about $1400. He didn't think the insurance company would cover over $1500 over it, but did a prefile and it came back that I would have to pay $2766... So Delta Dental saved me a lot. I got a care credit for $2500 and paid the $266 cash and got mine done. Hope I get the carecredit paid off before the predatory interest kicks in.

First I'd like to say Thanks for your video's,I was scared and they helped alot with knowing what to expect. Tomorrow it will be 2 weeks since I had 20 extractions an have my temps, still talking funny an hard to eat, is that what made you decide to go get them relined? Does that help or was it they didn't fit right?

Even though I am a bit older (33) I also have 3 children and a 6 month old (who was prem so adjusted age 4 months). I also stay at home, my house is hectic. I had bad bad teeth and personally I found the extractions quite painful *BUT* NOOOOOOOOOTHING compared to the pain my teeth caused before. I have sore spots at the moment (6 days out) but I am so much happier than they looked before. I'm not 100% happy with the teeth, they are too gummy BUT much better than the way they were :)

I got my top denture just 2 weeks ago and they are so loose now that even when I just talk they start to fall. And when I eat (even soft foods) they are all over the place and I am sooooo worried that I am going to get choked because of it. Does a reline really make them fit tighter?

No need to apologize for the profanity, this is a very emotional decision as well, even for men but especially for women! We are vain, not necessarily in a bad way but we are biologically and genetically programmed to want to look good. (It's evolution, the male mates with the best looking female, the female wants to look her best to get the best male.)
Anyway, I enjoy your videos, I'm almost twice your age, was scared to get dentures, was at that inevitable point of almost no good teeth left. Had a few that could have been saved, but dentist said eventually they would go bad. Have some sort of genetic defect that makes my teeth break, and no pain, which is odd.
To anyone who is scared, terrified, etc, that's perfectly normal, and we all tend to think- yeah it worked for them but I'm way worse. I had a lot of bleeding, a lot of teeth extracted, NO pain during the procedure and very little afterward. I had conscious sedation, which freaked me out to consider, but it was the way to go.
The biggest thing, and She touches on it here, but to me it's THE BIGGEST reason to do this, is your health. With bad teeth/infection you are at a huge risk for heart disease, as well as other issues. That is what motivated me more than my shitty smile, more than not having enough good back teeth to chew properly, more than knowing I was probably 5 years away from having no teeth at all no matter what I did (except getting dentures).
Good luck to all in making this difficult decision, and thanks so much to Kristi for journaling her progress!!!!

  • @kalinjax

Bad off as in they have to come out because nothing can be done to save them (tooth decay, periodontal disease). There are many factors that can contribute to one's teeth being so bad they need to be pulled. Mine were bad as a teenager and since my parents never took me to the dentist, by the time I was an adult I couldn't afford all of the work that needed to be done to save them. By that time, there was no amount of brushing, flossing, and rinsing that would have made a difference....
