Thank you so much! I had my extractions 3 weeks ago today. I just assumed once I got my dentures it would be smooth sailing. I NEVER knew I would not be able to talk , eat , or even wear them .i still have a lot of swelling. I can not talk at all at this point with the dentures in. You just gave me courage to keep trying! Your dentures/ teeth are gorgeous your smile is so beautiful! You have no idea how very much this video helped me. I felt like crying before this video now I am determined to keep trying. I will think of your lil baby son learning to walk . That was such an excellent analogy it really makes sense and helped me. Thank you again you're an Angel for posting this video!!!!
You have been so helpful during my journey. I have been scared out of my mind…with so many questions. I literally just had my surgery Friday 9/29/23. Thank you for being there for so many of us.❤
Thank you so much for being so genuine and honest. I've had dentures for almost 10 years. Yeah, 10 whole miserable years of struggling with everything from eating, speaking, to just feeling so self conscious that I basically secluded myself from any social gatherings. But, thanks to your videos, I feel better than I have in decades about my teeth and specifically these dentures. After stumbling across your videos and listening to your journey, you have inspired me, tremendously!! Because of you, instead of feeling completely beaten down, ashamed and alone, I have learned to take all of your advice and experiences and apply them to my situation. You are such a blessing!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, Kalin!! :D
Thank you so much for giving me hope. I've had dentures for two weeks and I'm so depressed because I find it hard to believe I can get used to this. You've made a difference. I think I can do this!
Oh my God, you have given me such hope! I got full uppers January 17th 2012, and I really need these kind of pep talks right now. You have given me courage dear lady. Thank you soooooo much. God bless you.
Thank you so much for just being you really. I'm 35 and got dentures a week ago and I've been so frustrated and feeling awkward thinking I was the only young person with dentures. Basically I got all my teeth pulled because they got so bad that they literally turned on me, and were making me sick with infections and stuff not to mention the terrible pain I was in. (I was practically bed ridden with pain!) They had to go. I'm so glad I found your videos. Now I don't feel so alone anymore! You have already helped me feel better about it all.
Been a week since I got my dentures. I am doing GREAT!!! You have helped me in so many ways. I am also young so you helped me to not be so embarrassed and I thank you. I appreciate all your info and knowing It doesn't make you feel as awkward as I thought it would. And all the questions I had you answered for me! I feel and look great! So thank you XOXOXO
One of the many things I learned from Kal by watching her videos. I made the mistake of assuming I could/would/should be able to speak/eat like I did with real teeth. That, is what frustrated me. Then, I came here. Watching her vids she's shown me: Speak a little slower, practise enunciation carefully, take smaller bites, eat slower. When I accepted that, it's amazing how quickly everything else fell into place. Those are powerful, and new for me, things to encorporate, but it has worked well.
Thank you for being real about it. I have a partial and it was very challenging to get accustomed to and it yet is because I gag sometime with it in my mouth. Now I am looking at getting dentures. I am like you I will not give up but rather work on by the grace of God getting accustomed to eating and speaking with my new foreign object in my mouth. I pray you have got use to them by now and doing well.
Thank you for putting these videos out there for us..I just had surgery (all on 4 implants)extractions ..my bottom temp is fixed but I had to use a removeable denture on top because the bone around one of the implants on top was too soft and needed grafting..so I am struggling to talk/eat..your video is so encouraging
Awesome video I learned a lot. I am getting my permanent dentures in a couple of days, I never had the immediate dentures I went 8 weeks without teeth. Thank you, you help so many people.😀
you are such a pro at this! You should do this professionally! I love your videos- they are so helpful. My journey is underway and I can't way until July 1st. :) THANK YOU for all your help!
Been a week today and I am doing GREAT!!!! Thank you for all your info....it has helped me so much XOXOXOXO I am also young so you helped me not to feel so embarrassed about having dentures and I appreciate it. :)
Thanks so much for sharing your courage, perseverance, and strength throughout this journey. Watching your video really helped remind me of some important things. I've been having ongoing dental work & surgeries for over a year now. Changes in my speech were frustrating at first. Once I accepted that it will take time for my tongue to get used to the new configurations, I was able to laugh at myself for sounding like Sylvester the Cat. I like what you said about your son's first steps...so true
I got dentures yesterday. I want you to know that I have been watching your videos and want to thank you for sharing what you experienced. I had some idea of what to expect so thank you :)
I have some "news" to give you because it's been a few weeks since we last wrote, but just wanted to say that this video is really awesome! I love the LOGIC behind your explanation & perspective of adapting to dentures, and how you used the transition of getting a new phone & all that it takes in getting used to that new phone. Same concept for getting used to new teeth; a prosthetic arm, leg, finger or any other limb. It's all about learning & takes time to adapt! Very well said! :)
Thank you for your video. It was what i needed to hear I just got my upper dentures today and tried to eat It wasnt easy and was staeting to regrwt it.
ive been fighting cancer since i was 8 and been told by some drs other people that i couldnt perform like a normal person. yes i admit there are some things i cant do but at least i tried and failed i didnt just not try and fail anyways. lot people said i couldnt go back school and graduate the year i was suppose to graduate and i proved them wrong the day i was handed my diploma is day i said i did what most people said i couldnt do. now i have get all my teeth out due to high dosage of radiation and go through the hyper beric treatments and was worried at first that a 30 year old boy eating with dentures be odd and wierd hard but like i tell lot people out there. if i can survive everything cancer close to death has thrown at me and yet beat them by all odds than i know ill find a way make dentures work for me not agianst me
I do because my gums have changed so much that the teeth aren't fitting like they should. It's not recommended to rely on adhesives. I'm in the process of finding a good dentist that won't charge an arm and a leg for a nice set of permanent dentures. Good fitting dentures should not require adhesive unless you are out on a special occasion or eating something tricky like corn on the cob that may require extra stability.
I wish you the best, Amy. I got mine a few weeks ago, and I still can't stand having them in my mouth -- the upper part that hits the soft palate, particularly. My dentist says, "It will feel weird having them in your mouth at first, but after a while it will feel weird not to have them in." I'm hoping that's true because right now it feels like I'll never get to that point. Sorry, I don't mean to be discouraging. I think I've always had a hair-trigger gag reflex. Good luck to you!
I went about my dentures diff than most do..only because I have the summer off from work n could hide out lol I had my teeth taken out n healed for 4 months than went n had my dentures made, from my experience it was so much easyer..but I know some can't hide a whole summer..I have had them about 8 months I just took them in for the 1st realignment..nothing was wrong they were just too big,and I knew to expect this..my dentures are the true set not the set they put n after pulling teeth..after watching videos on here about realignments I'm nerves I pick them up n bout 3 hrs.crossing my fingers they turned out good
In the very beginning I did and I noticed I was still covering my mouth out of habit but I got used to them very quickly and smile all the time. There are times when I wonder if people can tell but it's a fleeting thought and wouldn't affect me if they could tell or not.
HI I'VE BEEN WATCHING SEVERAL OFYOUR VIDEOS AND I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING ALL THESE VERY IMPORTANT FACTS WITH US.I HAVE JUST ONE DAY WEARING MY FULL SET OF DENTURES AFTER SURGERY AND I START EATING WITH SOME PAIN BUT EVERYTHING REASONABLE ACCORDING TO ALL YOUR EXPERIENCES.I DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE OF HAVING BAD TEETH MY ENTIRE LIFE SINCE VERY LITTLE DUE TO AN AGRESSIVE TREATMEN OF ANTIBIOTICS AFTER I GOT HEPATITIS AFFECTING MY QUALITY OF TEETH FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.THE WAY YOU EX PRESS YOURSELF IN THE VIDEOS COULD'NT BE MORE HELPFUL AND CLEAR.ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU AND IM READY FOR THE NEXT PERIODS OF ADAPTING MYSELF TO THIS NEW EXPERIENCE.BLESSINGS
Another good video Kal. I've had my dentures now for 10 weeks and yes it's all about practicing with them. I still glue both top and bottom, most-likely the fit but it is what it is. I have difficulties with steak, pork chops and most foods that require intense chewing (non processed foods), I've learned that if you cut the difficult foods thin and small they are do-able. I'm lucky I haven't had any problems with the pronunciation of words. Good advice is practice!
Your gums shrink pretty rapidly in the beginning which makes the denture loose. It's normal, it happened to me. After you have healed you will get a reline, which should make them fit much better. Also, eating does not come naturally. You will fail at first. It will seem impossible. But the more you practice, the better you get at it. I hope that helps? Sorry you're having troubles, we've all been there at one point!
Another video of yours that I love! =) Had my wax try in literally like 2 hours ago today, and it went good..Im happy with how the teeth it look and all that, but it felt very very weird with having something in my mouth like that...and my dentist told me today that when I get my dentures in about a week (week at the most), that it will take some getting used to.....and I think the wax try in today gave me that reality check - that it's gonna feel "weird" at first...but im staying positive!
@bratnik25 from most people's experience, yes- it's the more challenging one. But it's not impossible to function with it. I can eat just fine with mine and it moves allover the place if I let it. It just takes some getting used to;-p
if you had a choice in keeping few teeth which ones would you say are absolutely crucial.... i have all my teeth but alot of them are filled with resin ... and this resin itself (not the teeth) has been giving me alot of pain, i cant afford to experiement with different materials any more so i thinking of extracting good teeth one by one so but not sure with which to start and which i wouldnt regret taking out...
I have watched a lot of your video's and I just had my last two teeth pulled at the top yesterday so I have a full upper and a partial for the bottom, but when he put them in, I felt like I looked like Mr. Ed, the dentist and his assistant said they looked great, I don't feel that way. Plus they make me gag like crazy, my question is what can they do to make them not look so long, and stop the gaging. I'm just nervous about this entire process! Thanks for your inspiring video's.
How long have you had them? I couldn't eat anything but soft foods at first and talking was pretty tricky. Check out my very first video and you will see that pronouncing certain things was a challenge. Did you get immediate dentures or did you wait for your gums to heal and then get permanent dentures? It takes a lot of patience and practice. The surroundings in your mouth have changed so it's going to take a bit to get used to it.
I was happy for you when you got the snap ins you are much to pretty to have removables I am also getting snap ins but partials and cant wait to have a full set of teeth again ed
I think you're 100% right. This dentist is not the best. Not at all. I had Medicaid at the time of the procedure, and he was one of the few in my area who accepted Medicaid. Right off the bat I was limited by the welfare nature of the insurance. But I have Blue Cross now, and I'm thinking just what you suggested. Find a much better dentist -- indeed, a prosthodontist if that's covered. It may be considered cosmetic by the insurance company. But you're right that it makes all the difference.
Sadly, no. My dentist keeps cutting down the line on the uppers but it still hasn't kept me from gagging. It takes a little longer now, but it only had to happen once in a meeting at work. Now I'm too paranoid to keep trying. Which infuriates and depresses me. I went through all the pain to have my teeth extracted and then an alveoplasty and I don't feel any closer to a solution. My dentist still insists it will work, but I'm losing faith.
1st day is a nightmare. but thank God mom went through this and she said constantly chew bubblicious gum. and it helps. still weird but like She said in a month it will automatic. she has them for 30 years and you'd never know it.
i just got my top dentures on monday after having 12 teeth pulled the same day. i am still swollen some. when will i look normal again with no swelling and when will i quit messing with the roof of my mouth?
I am really surprised to read below that you have full upper and lowers, your teeth look totally natural. I don't suspect that my permanent dentures (uppers and lowers) will look anything like my real teeth looked. When they took my impression I only had a couple molars, 2 k9 and one front tooth on the uppers left that hadn't been broken off at the gumline and only a molar, and the front 6 teeth on the bottom so I imagine I'll get some generic mouth of teeth in 3 months, my "healing" dentures are sure prettier than my real teeth even when my real teeth were still here and white and pretty but they look "too" perfect if that makes sense.
Hello...Your video was shown to me by a subscriber of yours and mine. I have had so many issues after the placement that it has taken over my life pretty much. I live here in Fernandina Beach/ Amelia Island....just North of you in Jax. If you see my videos...let me know what you think or if you have ever heard of what I am going through. Also.....do you have full plates upper and Lower or just the lower? They look so good I couldn't tell . You are a very pretty lady and I think they look great!!
Got 16 teeth pulled yesterday and immediate dentures put in. Don't think I will have problem with top but everytime I move my tongue ..like to move (pudding) food around between cheek and teeth..my bottoms come completely loose. I will take them out this afternoon for the first time and rinse my mouth. If I put some fixadent powder on the bottoms is that going to interfere with my healing? Even when I swallow some drink ( drink from a water bottle a lot)...they come loose with my tongue moving with the liquid. Do I need to have them adjusted this quickly? I have not seen any swelling..(I'm odd in that I don't usually swell even with injuries).
Have you googled for the best Prosthodontist in your area? I haven't had to deal with it, but I will eventually. I'm not fucking around with the dental centers or any old dentist, I'll save up for the best. I'm worried about that feeling, I can't even stand a tag in my shirt. I read some are miserable, others it's like nothing...I assume it has a lot to do with the Prosthodontist, or unhappily the dentist who treats the person.
i have to use fixident i dont have much gum to hold them i had mine made custom :'( i am not able to eat very well yet it been almost a week n still i cant get it
well I had my upper teeth pulled yesterday and immidiates put in right away I look like a horse now :( they rub under my lips. I got an appointment at 3 today to help with the rubbing part hope that helps :(
Get a motorcycle and then you just ride in between the cars on your way to the dentist.......its very nice, trust me hehee... Well I mean ride in between cars......ehm, nice to see you again .......we love you kali baby tihi:-)
Hey wheres your other channel? I mean the I am sexy channel?....no I mean the other channel? hehe.....you are a busy mom.........hugzzzzzz and lolzzzzzz haha

Not only are you easy to look at but, you have a very good talent for being a speaker.. Good Job!
This is my 2nd day with dentures and I am so glad that I found you because you help me so much to understand my dentures.....Thank You so much.

love your videos, it truly is all in how a person thinks about things.
Thank you for this video. As someone who has recently transitioned, this is very comforting.
@coleycole1207 no I am totally used to them and don't even think about them really. They don't feel odd or out of place at all. You do get used to it!

Do you have a complete set?(both top and bottom)
They look good either way!
Thank you for all your information. You made me feel comfortable with deciding to getting dentures.

@BTBLEMKE I started REALLY eating steaks around 4-5 months. And eating chicken off the bone. And corn on the cob LOL. It gets easier:-)
@mygalmo Yes, everything takes time and believe it or not even where I am at now in the process I am still learning and improving:-)
@mommieluvshrmakeup Thank you:-) Just glad I can help!
Your smile looks amazing.
@honeyray1978 Thank you:-) Yes I have a full upper and lower.
1st day is a nightmare. but thank God mom went through this and she said constantly chew bubblicious gum. and it helps. still weird but like She said in a month it will automatic. she has them for 30 years and you'd never know it.
You are so awesome, great advice.
i just got my top dentures on monday after having 12 teeth pulled the same day. i am still swollen some. when will i look normal again with no swelling and when will i quit messing with the roof of my mouth?
Good analogy!
Kal, you speak the truth!
I'm sorry i'm just now seeing this, did you still have any questions?
My youngest sons name is also Ezra!
@GotOneLifeToLive hahaha if you go to my main channel page you will see a link right above my subscribers- kal32205 is the other channel;-p
A tiny amount could make a WORLD of difference =)
Did you get used to it?
great advice.....thanks
Inspirational video.Thank you,
Stephen uk.
