Today I get 24 my teeth pulled in a full set put in. It's currently before 5:00 a.m. where I am. I can't stop crying and I'm shaking like a leaf. But thank you for putting this video out and creating a community to lean on. Wish me luck. 😢
Having my teeth removed is one of the best decisions I've made. I was scared at first but when I was able to eat ice cream , drink hot / cold and smile big it made it all worth it.
Having dentures... Don't it fall off sometimes? I know my mom and dad has some.. upper and lower. But they are 80+ years old... is there a new way that they don't fall off now? Are they attached somewhere in your mouth? Thanks
Same!! I got dentures at 30, 35 now. Never have regretted it. I’m not afraid to smile big, I can eat, drink just about anything (except I miss eating dill pickles by biting out the inside first lol). I do need to get my dentures remade , as I still have my original dentures (thanks, COVID!!). But I still have zero regret, never had any. I had a beautiful perfect smile at one time (before the enamel got completely destroyed from pregnancies), and I miss that… but that smile was long gone by the time I got dentures. Relearning to talk and eat was a process though, I’ll say that!!
@crush it they should use fixodent or poligrip. I prefer fixodent! Lol it holds better and I'm 42. Most seniors don't like using it bc it's really snuggled onto the gum but to release them at night I just gargle with hot water. Hot as I can stand it for easy release. I work with seniors anyways so it's fun to let them know my process. Just remember for an elderly person put as little as possible onto the denture plates. Hopes this helps! 🙏
I’m in the regret phase. I’m in horrible pain. I can’t speak. I feel like I’m constantly lisping. I have mouth ulcers because the denture keeps shifting. I’m not eating so I’m weak and have constant hunger headaches. It’s effecting my mental health. I’m a chatty, vivacious person normally, but now I’m non-verbal and introverted. It’s so hard. I believe that dentist should counsel patients about the trials, tribulations and emotional trauma that may occur. I’ve made the decision to seek out help. Your videos have helped as well. Thank you.
I am a rock musician and I remember before getting my teeth removed after years and years of horrible pain... I was playing lead guitar ina band and I was one of the two singers.. and some of the songs I was the lead singer and guitarist for... and omfg.. I would often fuck my vocal parts up and get way to close up on the mic and not open my lips and mouth far enough to properly enunciate and perform the vocal as I should have... due to my humiliation and dread of the audience or worse... someone in the audience getting a fantastic clear shot of my broken shards of freont teeth and the rotten mess that was my front teeth and i was sooo humiliated and ended up quitting the band partly due to that... and i was ( i hate to brag , i dont like big egos.. and i have very low self esteem tbh...) I was a damn good singer, and often had peers compare me to Chris Cornell of SOundgarden ( they are being waaay way to nice..) anyways.. It takes time to learn to speak around the changes inside your mouth.. but even with my broken and repaired dozens of times dentures and having to relearn slightly every time they break and i fix them... You will get much more comfortable with it.. I hope after the year its been since you wrote this.. that your experience has improved and that you ultimately feel much better about your teeth, your talking and voice and lisp ( i was humiliated and still am when i don't have my teeth in on the top by my lisping..ool) and that you are happier... God Bless you and I love you whoever you are! I hope things are better and don't give up and remember that they will get better... mine are horrible tbh and i am still in far far better shape than I ever was before... i almost died once from the infections... anyways.
I am 10 days into my denture journey. I am still in the "regret" phase. I have been fighting gum disease for over 25 years, more then 5 gum surgeries (actually I lost count) trying to save my teeth. I have lost the battle, and failed. I hate them. I hate them with every fiber of my being. I won't even let my wife see me without them in, I am so embarrassed and ashamed at what I have come to. I have shed tears almost everyday since. I was in tears this morning putting in my bottom dentures, the pain takes several minutes to subside. My top ones are loose, so not much pain, but very uncomfortable. I have 4 to 6 months before the implants are healed for the snap-in's to work. I have lost 10 pounds since because its so difficult to eat, never mind even talking. I can't imagine this getting better, but every video says it will happen. I don't know anyone else with dentures that I can confide in, so I watch as many videos as I can, and still feel depressed after watching. Right now I wish I could go back in time, and tell myself NOT to do it, and take your chances.
As I just told another comment but yours I even relate to even more I understand I understand I understand it is so much bigger than anyone usually fully admits because there's this oh I'm strong I can take the pain or it shouldn't be affecting me psychologically this much but I have been in psychological agony as well as physical and so far deeply regret the choice because I mostly did it cuz I didn't want to continue to put massive amounts of money into the teeth in my insurance pays for a full set of dentures every 5 years so I just said okay let's do it but oh my God it literally has sent me back and I'm in the theater and the arts and the teaching profession and after the covid I was getting so close so close and happy to getting back to life as we all are and then this anyway if you need a comrade just someone to chat with ... I tend to be hugely over committed in terms of too many people in my life but I sure could use someone just in specifically to occasionally talk about this because otherwise I'm feeling very very alonr.. I have a huge wonderful group of friends and colleagues all over the country but the lonest comes from one not wanting to complain and why and call vanity call it what you will but I don't have my teeth and can't keep them in right now and so I simply don't want to be around people I actually couldn't be I hate to look at myself so much without these dentures and I have not yet once been able to put them in even slightly from the pain and the bone shards and on and on but anyway I'm not usually complainer and it sounds like you aren't either but when you use the words embarrassed and ashamed and tears oh my God I get it I get it I get it it really is an amputation is a complete life change and I guess I knew that but I didn't realize it with this be this overwhelming and frustrating so anyway I'm not quite sure if you can respond directly to me, but should you need or watch what could be a once a week check in with each other, vent, rage, share tips whatever I think only people who have going through this recent traumatic experience can really help no matter how many family members or friends or colleagues you have.. And what's especially challenging most of all for me is somehow not being able to without saying Express just how traumatic and horrific this is like a true amputation because then I get embarrassed because God we just came through covid what about the millions that died what about before ukrainians what about the people in tents living on the highways and on and on and on she gets to the point where you absolutely don't even want to tell people that you're not exactly in a good mood which is course is an understatement and I don't want to isolate from those I love again but so far that's what I've been doing . Anyway I'm sure like me you have a very very busy life and I'm completely backlogged with all sorts of people I should communicate with but I really think all of us going through this needs some outlet so if you want to communicate I'm not sure I can leave my number here but text is always good for me 802-279-2399 my name is Jude
Oops I hope this got to you it's not showing up but I just left you a long reply and suggested that maybe those of us going through this can at least vent or share tips and depression once a week perhaps anyway let me know if you did not get that other message and that I left you a phone number there to text you otherwise I understand everything you say and we can only hope and assume things will get better but we definitely need support from others going through it
I know the feeling, I just had the surgery,I cant keep the teeth in,they feel like there gaging me,and im scared my mouth want get use to them,Im so hating I did this!!
@@bigw6784 I feel the same way. It is like a nightmare. I can't talk right, I constantly gag, and they are loose. The glue I have to use is absolutely horrid getting it off my gums. I dread it every day! didn't anticipate it would be this way. I hate it and pray it gets better. I hope it gets better for you and anyone else experiencing this!
Being a Dental Laboratory Removable Prosthetic Specialist, for the last 48 years, I want to say, in my opinion, you are providing an amazing service of what expectations the new denture wearer might experience. Keep up the good work =)
@@kalinjax ... It's interesting what we do, during the fabrication process, for new denture patients who are receiving immediate denture vs. fabricating the normal replacement dentures ... especially regarding the FUD. Happy to fill you in further if interested.
@@bradrock7731 ... May I ask, are you considering a Full Upper over a Full Lower appliance? If you have the knowledge to know what a favorable impression looks like, able to establish a vertical and centric relationship and set the teeth with the proper occlusion and balance, you might be able to make it work. I'm not trying to discourage you but it takes a lot of experience to make successful removable dentures. I know this because I've made thousands. To answer your question ... no, I haven't seen any of the "DO IT YOURSELF" kits. Should you decide to have a go at it, please let me know how everything turns out. If you would like to touch base by phone I'd be happy to help you on your journey. Best of luck, George
@Mistyc Mc ana ... It's amazing technology for sure, and it's going to eventually find it's place for the removable practice. For me, and for now, I'm only interested in offering the dental profession a digital replacement denture that starts with the patients existing dentures. Just a side note: I still encourage my Dentist to take advantage of the patients old dentures, when possible, as a starting point. Lots of information in a well worn denture. After mounting the old denture I usually need to open the bite slightly to regain lost vertical. Saves so much time, this way, over the 5 or 6 appointments needed with the conventional approach. We refer to this approach as the '3 Appointment Denture" Keep it simple ... "less can be more" if that makes since. Guess I'm getting to old to start over ... ha =)
Im 37 and finally had the last 19 teeth extracted about 3 weeks ago and got my temporary set of dentures just yesterday. Yes, they did warn me that they will not at all be like my natural teeth and will feel bulky and painful for a while, but my final set will be so much better! I hate my temporary dentures! Even though they are absolutely beautiful, I regretted the decision right after my final fitting yesterday. I have been so bummed out today. That is until I saw your video. Everything you experienced is verbatim of what I'm going through now. There is NO room in there for anything! Boy did I cry! Thinking this is me now. Can't talk, can't eat, can't even feel like me. But you gave me hope! I can not thank you enough for sharing your journey!!!!!! Good bless you❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️!
It takes a while to adjust. I have been waring the same dentures for thirty years now. Since the adjustments I have not seen another dentist in all that time. I take them out to brush them and leave them in the rest of the time. My last girlfriend did not know I had them until I eventually told her. Mistake. Easy enough to avoid. She still sees a dentist regularly putting in new posts and crowns and such to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars per year. I can eat most things though small seeds are an issue. What is it worth to look good, eat what you want, and never again be in a dental chair? I can still recall the shock of loosing my teeth. It will always be a shock.
I am 3 weeks into wearing my top denture, I experienced everything you talked about. It hurt so bad taking those things in and out because of my gums still being swollen and super sore, but I toughed it out and now it's a little bit easier than it was. I was ashamed to let my husband see me without my teeth but, after he did see me he said to me, " Honey you're still beautiful whether you have teeth or not," that gave me even more confidence and then my daughter saw me with them in and she cried and said "now that's the mama I remember! She told me and my son in law told me how good I looked and that I looked healthier." Oh, I can't leave this out my 2 1/2 yr old grandson said Grannie you're pretty! So that really boosted my spirits! So yeah It is frustrating at times eating or drinking but I know it will get better, so for people reading this comment hang in there it will get better day by day! All of you are beautiful ❤️
Life is short. You're really lucky when you think about it. I may be you someday soon. Thank you all for being open. All my crowns n fillings are broken.
Getting Dentures was the best thing I did for both my physical health but for my mental health as well. These dang teeth were constantly breaking and I was spending soooooo much money on the repairs. I was literally in the Dentist chair every single month for something. I also couldn't eat anything hard. Now I have full dentures and can eat everything and anything ....even corn on the cob. I went in knowing it would take time getting used to them and have not once regretted my decision.
@@deltajohnson1525 I did, I actually ordered mine Online and saved so much $$$ doing so. I've had mine about 5 years now and have never had to use adhesive.
You are helping so many people with your honesty. Frankly, I don't believe a damn thing these social media glamour people say. Surgery is trauma. There is weeks, months and sometimes over a year to recover. There are so many nerves, a lot of bone involved. Oral surgery is a Big deal. Thank you for your channel and for straight talk
A year. Nope! Try never getting rid of pain. Try having to always grind every bite your eat. Oh, scrambled eggs are OK. But I had not choice. My teeth were not getting any more cavities, but the bones under my teeth ached all the time, so I had not choice but to get dentures. I do have good memories of when my teeth were good. I never needed them straightened either. The esthetics of my teeth were perfect, it's just that my bones were so infected. I attribute much of that to dentists who had to save bad teeth at all costs. If I had not had root canals, I believe that a bridge or two here and there would have sufficed. I did have a really bad dentist when I was under 10 years old who put a needle into my mouth for novocaine who pushed that needle deep into my jaw bone. That dentist might be the one who caused me to have the root canal in my 20s. I'd give anything to be able to have a dentist who could give me implants that would work. I tried to be careful about the dentists I saw, but alas, they ruined my mouth. I can look like I have teeth, but I never get rid of the pain and there is no way under the sun that I can actually chew my food. Grind, grind, grind. I never can really go out to dinner. I go to be with family and friends and figure out something to look like I'm eating, but I do all my real eating ground up food at home. Sorry for the rant, it's just no fun of any kind.
Yes and they want to yank mine out with no medication. 5000 bucks more for medication. 10000 for teeth pulled and 2 plastic resin molds that cost them nothing. It's a racket. Teeth are a part of our body. They SELL them like cars. It's so sick
I just got dentures 9 days ago and it's been the best decision I ever made for me. I watched a lot of your videos so I would know what to expect. They were very helpful and I have the best smile ever. I was lucky I guess because I healed quickly and the fit is perfect!
I am about 6 years in - Let me be perfectly honest with you. I only regret not doing it sooner. From the age of about 25 my mouth only got worse. The pain only got worse. I hated smiling because I hated how my teeth looked. I couldn't eat nuts, or anything too hot or too cold because everything hurt. The day I got my teeth pulled the pain was gone - I was sore but it wasn't the same. 2 weeks later I was eating Thanksgiving dinner with no pain in my mouth at all. Speaking took some getting used to - but the confidence I gained was well worth it.
Please Google low income dental care. The town you live. There should be dental clinics or charity organizations. To pull your bad teeth. That's what I had do. I still have more to pull. As you just said you ended up in the hospital. Untreated infected teeth can kill you. Dentures are expensive but something can be figured out to replace your teeth. Your life is the most important thing.
@@angelaschaefer5883 hey i am having teeth issues.. My first molar will be extracted.. Nd they are suggesting implant .. I m terrified English is not my first language
I sobbed at the dentist office. But going to oral surgeon after have her made my dentures. Then permanent dentures down the road, putting in implants as I go to eventually get 4 on 4. I spent 1,400 on a crown last May, and it fell on in December. It’s never stops. I’ve had so many root canals and crowns, then crowns redone in my 50’s. I had 3 bridges, and now a doc said I need dentures on top but if I spent another 7,000 on the few bottom teeth….yea…she always says that. I’m thinking I’m going to get 4 on 4 implants with dentures instead of wasting the money for dentures, more cash on pulling teeth, and when will the bottom ones go? I’m calling Clear Choice in my city about just keeping permanent dentures.
I’m so glad that you shared your experience. As a dentist, I know what to tell you to expect; but hearing the emotions behind the experience gives me a different perspective. I plan on recommending your channel to others going through this.
In my own experience it's better to keep some teeth you have then remove them all and replace with tender. When you have tender, you don't speak and eat normally, you feel stressful, I always use clue everyday, I shouldn't have removed off my remaining teeth off, that's my biggest mistake, should've asked dentist to make bridge than been removed, remember some dentists speak from something they haven't been experiencing but based on some research. once ur teeth out, that's it. Thanks for the video
I totally regret getting dentures. In fact I don’t wear them half the time. Now after a couple years if I do wear them they don’t fit right. I can’t eat with the bottom denture, so it comes out if food is in front of me. I know people that wear dentures and never have trouble with them. What is wrong with me?
@@janicetaul2579 nothings wrong with you, not everyone is the same some can eat with them however I'm like you, I feel like I can't taste the food the same with them in!😔✌️
I realized while I was watching this that it is now been seven years since I had the rest of my teeth removed and implants supported dentures put in. I could identify with a lot of what you're talking about, but I have to admit it's been so long now that I've kind of forgotten what it was like when I first got the procedure done.. I only know that I haven't had any pain for 7 years, no infections, no missing teeth, for 7 years I've been able to eat what I wanted, and for the last 7 years I've actually smiled, something I never did before with gray stained damaged teeth. All I can say is I will never regret my decision to have this done, it changed my life
I was in the dental field for 20 years and it’s positive patients like you who made me love my job. I did a lot of work with dentures & have to say those that keep an open mind and don’t give up no matter the hurdles in between do extremely wonderful. Dentures have come a long way and there’s many things now that make it nearly impossible to tell someone has dentures. I have to say you don’t look like you wear dentures. Your beautiful, confident, speak well! Your just stunning! God Bless You🙏❤️
Thank you for this video you have no idea how much this has helped. 2 years ago I became a father, I was a raging drug addict and had been since I was 16. Between drugs and a negative life style caused a good amount of teeth loose and decay. The mother of my child because my wife and helped me get clean and stay clean she over looked my horrible teeth and all my past and I couldn't be anymore thankful for her being in my life she's amazing anywho baby number to was just born and we had family pictures and I look at the pictures and realize that I can see how bad my teeth really are so I'm really self conscious about them then my toddler ask me daddy why are your teeth all gone 😢 man that broke me like bad so iv decided to man up and get them taken care of Anxiety and fears be damned I'm getting dentures I want the look and feel better about my self and not still have my past hanging over me. No matter how well I dress or look I still look like a meth head because of my teeth so I'm changing that tomorrow I go to get them pulled and start getting dentures. Thank you for helping to ease my fears about that. And sorry ik I'm horrible and writing
Whatever your writing may be missing, your beautiful heart and soul definitely make up for it. Many blessings to you and your family, your story is beautiful too. Good luck.
I agree with Sharon!! And I have wondered about this journey for me due to medical issues that I couldn’t control. However, those people younger with dentures were those I had worked with that were addicts who became parents! And I remember one lady in particular and she used to hide her smile and when she told us she finally moved up the queue to get dentures we got to celebrate then we got to celebrate again when she felt confident smiling! It was amazing and wonderful! It was also such an honour to walk a bit of that journey with her and when I think, “oh dear I don’t know if can do this” (and in my case I don’t know what I’ll do), people like you and this lady…. And now seeing this lovely RUclipsr…. It’s encouraging! I hope all is going well for you! Know that no matter what happened, you’ve overcome and you’re moving forward and doing it for amazing reasons! Xo
Having worked in dentistry for many years, I would never have known they were dentures, they are sooo natural! How lovely of you to reassure others to help people overcome their fears about wearing dentures. 🤩
@@elsonck2523 She has the all-on-4 dentures. They are something like 2 or 4 implants with the denture put on them. And I agree, her teeth look really good. Her dentist has a great sense of aesthetics for natural looking teeth. That's not easy to find; so many dentists make these perfect looking teeth that scream "DENTURES". lol
Dentist here. 14:24 THANK YOU. no matter how good i think i've prepared the patient prior to treatment, in about 9 out of 10 times people have this reaction like you described in your video. hearing this from somebody who wears dentures is such a relief since sometimes you loose faith in your abilities as a dentist. i think i just might recommend your channel to my patients 😁
I doubt you’ll read this but I sincerely thank you for your videos. I had all my teeth extracted and had immediate dentures installed. I’ve been really struggling with both the physical changes and the mental/emotional impact it is having on me. Your content is so well done and compassionate, it’s really helping me. Thank you
Hi Nickalas. I'm about to have all my teeth extracted too. I'm scared and I know I will experience the same feelings you are describing. I hope that you and I can talk about our experience to encourage one another.
@@dproulx222 hi 👋 😁two months have passed since you commented. How are you getting on? How are you feeling? I’m about to undertake the same process and so glad I found this channel
I have partial back dentures, but still have both front top, and bottom teeth. My issue is chewing, I just don’t seem to get a good chew, almost like they are not sharp enough to grind the food. So I just take them out and chew with my front teeth… Plus it’s hard for me to swallow at times and it takes forever to chew up the food just to swallow safely. I just wish the teeth they use in a denture was a bit sharper or thinner or something!
Yep I had to have my uppers extracted and I went through a depression that was akin to being an amputee. I was depressed & felt un-whole. It took awhile for me to talk right and not being able to eat regularly took its toll psychologically. The only thing that really has been long lasting is how much it’s changed the appearance of my face bc of bone loss but I’m good with it now.
Thank you Kalinjax for this video. I had immediate dentures placed today after 4 weeks of no teeth at all. I'm staying positive and I'm determined to practice speaking and eating until I get better at both. I'm literally on day 1 of wearing dentures, and this learning process is really challenging in many ways. I just wanted to say thank you for caring enough about helping others to create your channel. Today I saw myself smiling with "nice white teeth" for the first time in years...it's a good place to start..now I need to work on speaking without slurring and chewing food again!
So happy for you!! You’re already way ahead of where I was. I was loaded with morphine and pretty much slept all of day one and day two haha! Keep pushing, keep practicing! It reminds me of learning to drive a car. It just seems impossible with all of the things you have to be aware of and none of your movements seem to be fluid. Before you know it, it’s just second nature. Best of luck and congrats on taking the first step! That’s the hardest!
@@bogiboglin2702 My dentist recommended that I not get immediate on extraction day due to my specific case. He said it would be better to wait 2 weeks. It ended up that I did a wax turn-in at 3 weeks, and I had the immediate placed the next week.

It takes about a year to get used to them. I love mine. No tooth aches. No dentist bills. It is well known to get rid of those rotting teeth before they start affecting your health. No regrets.
Here in New Zealand, at 79, I am 55 years into my denture experience. This is my 3rd set, ten years old, still excellent. One of my best decisions in life.
Did you do posts to hook the dentures onto? or do you just use adhesive to secure them with? Do we end up swallowing adhesive as the day goes on? How often do you have to change it out? tia. Any other advise? My younger sister said the same thing as you. Best decision she ever made. She was finally out of pain.
I finished my denture procedure in January. I was adamant that i didn't want dentures, i truly feared them and wanted implants but due to cost they're gonna have to wait. But you know what? When i realized that there's people out there that's lost limbs, etc and manage to adapt and get on with life then i knew it was gonna be ok in the end. And so far so good! Sure, you'll have good and bad days but as long as you have a good dentist and an open mind then you'll be fine. Best wishes to anyone reading this going through the same. It'll be fine 😉
@@GlassOnion602 I'm really not sure about the shrinkage. After talking to several people i know with dentures they've not expressed a problem with this, only gum shrinkage but i knew that already. Of course, this will be different for some, it all depends on that persons situation. Implants won't be for everyone as previous problems can lead to a weak jaw bone and from what i understand implants come with a higher level of maintenance, never mind the cost! Either way, it is what it is, I'll see what happens but I'm not worrying about it.

Thank you for trying to take some of the stigma and shame around dentures, implants, abcesses etc. Especially being young. Like you I had serious problems from a young age. I finally started going to the dentist last year and basically all my molars have to be pulled out. I'm 34. It's really hard and embarrassing. I was supposed to get 2 pulled today but the infection was so bad the novacaine wouldn't work. It's criminal how expensive dental work is in the US and how little insurance covers. I mean for any other surgery they would at least give you twilight sedation! I'm really trying to get my teeth healthy and presentable but it feels never-ending and the pain is truly horrific.
I hear you. Root canals, a couple extractions, dry socket with one of them... I empathize. I know the pain of having them worked on and numbing not being enough. Hang in there.
If I dentist wanted to pull your teeth without treating the infection first, they’re a bad dentist in my opinion, I understand the abject misery of tooth pain, so you definitely have all my sympathy.
@Krystal My this is true. It is genetic too some degree cause I spent fortune on dental work even with insurance and still had nothing but problems. Iam now in partial and denture

i went 1.5 to 2 weeks after getting my teeth removed til i would wear mine. them dentist and professionals(that usually still have real teeth or implants) are crazy to tell patients to wear them to help the healing process. im 4-5 years in now and i forget i have dentures, they are just my teeth only difference is i can actually bite through cheesesticks instead of pulling out all the cheese on the first bite and chew anything, and i have the ease of taking them out to clean them. still cant bring myself to go back in and get snaps put in.
I got all my upper teeth pulled in my 50's. The pain was horrific with my new teeth in. So, I kept them out until my gums healed. Best move for me. Yes, it felt weird for awhile, but after getting used to them, it's the best thing I ever did.
@@jennyd5728 I’m about to have my top teeth and most of my bottom pulled at age 40 bc as my dentist put it, “my dentine is failing.” My teeth are literally more filling than tooth, the fillings keep cracking and falling out, and I have receding gums. For me, medication I absolutely must take chronically dries out my mouth which leads to tooth decay and I also have acid reflux, damaging my enamel and my dental work. I’m terrified of getting dentures. But I’m going to lose my teeth one way or the other and I’m tired of the pain.
@@jrsterdis same I’m in my 40s and I’m having bone loose on my teeth had a couple of infection on the top teeth. Had them all pulled out on top and a couple at the bottom.
Time, practice and patience. Yes!! I had osteomyelitis in my jawbone from a dental extraction while in chemo. Had to have port in heart and weeks of vancomycin iv treatments. Ended up pulling all and getting dentures in 2000. 23 years now with dentures and I’m so glad I did it. Your videos are awesome.
I'm considered a zebra. My body does has so many sensitivities since using a certain treatment for over a 13 month period. I would never put a foreign object in my bone due to my condition. @@RS-qu5lh
Looking at you, I would never have thought you have dentures. They look so natural and like you just have healthy teeth. So glad to see this as I may be doing this in the future and do have some concerns. Thanks for posting.
I'll guarantee you her teeth weren't made by a pro, no way could they be that far off, they were definitely made by an amateur, remember, these students have to learn somewhere. My teeth weren't made by any pro either, there wasn't any suction to hold them in place.. certainly not made by a lab tech.
I REALLY REALLY REALLY NEEDED TO HEAR THIS. I almost cried!!! 6 months with immediate dentures. Thank you so much! I can move on and let go of my anxieties and fears!!
I went what you went through exactly. There was so much swelling it was like I had been shot in the mouth. It was exhausting swelling, never ending. I was in bed 5-1/2 months with my cat who stayed with me 24 hours a day. It took 5-1/2 months to heal, and I was drinking juices mostly and eating mashed potatoes. Now today, all swelling is gone and all feels completely natural and I have a Hollywood smile, easy to talk and better than ever. At first, I thought I made the worst mistake of my life and my life was destroyed, but now, being rid of old terrible teen, and now having an incredible smile, it makes all the difference in the world. I just had to ride it out. Before I felt I would never be able to smile, and now I smile all the time.
6 months on and I still can’t wear lower dentures for more than 8 hours and invariable have to take them out after a meal … maybe so I can enjoy dessert without bits of my savoury course stuck in teeth … or worse seeds that get caught under. They ruined my social life, where everyone meets up to eat … and couldn’t understand why I hated paying for food I couldn’t enjoy. I was told I must wear them 24 hours … will that ever happen. I now meet friends for drinks/ coffee and cake .. but miss out on a lot ..
Thank you for all the real gut level Honest Videos! I'm going to hqve to get the plain old dentures, the cheap ones. Im super disappointed that I can't at least get snap in dentures but when your poor there is no other choice. Thanks for all you do
Same here. It's taken 4 1/2 months to even get my immediate ones to work even halfway decent, plus having to have surgery to file down a protruding section of my top jawbone that was preventing the dentures from going all the way back like they should. I was wondering after all this time, when I was *ever* going to get my permanent set, and just found out my immediate ones are my permanent set, as that's all my insurance will pay for. The final adjustments are bing made on them, and hopefully when I get them on Feb. 8, they'll finally fit like they're supposed to. I'm trying to remain positive.
You got this Tony. It's a bit rough in the beginning, but you'll either love or hate your dentures but just know, you can't change the fact that you got your teeth pulled, but you can change your dentures to how you want them so that you're able to eat, smile, laugh again. You'll find yourself saying, "this isn't as bad as I thought it would be" once you're all healed and able to do the things that you didn't think you would be able to do. Patience is the key. I've had my uppers for over 20 years. I just did bottoms on April 5th and I truly thought I'd hate it... but man... I love them. I can eat anything and everything with no problems and I have a technique that keeps them in all day with even eating throughout the day. And these aren't even my perms... but I'm prepared for my perms now that I know what I'm doing. :)
Day one of trying to wear these and I am Freaking out. I cant imagine ever being able to eat or talk with these. I run a karaoke company and I'm ready to close my doors. On the upside I have had allergies my entire life. Since extraction, no allergies.
You nailed it! 🔨🔨🔨 I’ve worn dentures for over twenty years. I only take them out to clean them, otherwise they’re in 24-7. I never use adhesive because 😮 I use home reline kits for a better fit. I don’t even know they’re not my natural teeth. Yours make you look beautiful! 💝
I am nearly 70 and last year I had to have one molar pulled because the gold crown failed. I felt absolutely horrified! Since then there has been a steady decline in the health of my teeth and for the first time I am entertaining having them removed. Diabetes sucks. Anyway, thank you for such a personal testimony. It helps to know. You look great btw:)
You can only have tooth repaired for failed root canal. About two times after that it has to be pulled. My mom is 76 she has had several teeth pulled. Because of the same reason as this lady has. With my mom she had them replaced with implants.
I just had my teeth removed 3 days ago, and I get my dentures this friday. the first time I looked in the mirror, it terrified me. I'm so nervous about the whole process still to come, but I've needed this for so long. I needed to hear everything you had to say.
If it is the healthier option I've just accepted it. Idc what I see or what anyone else sees I care about my health people forget that every tooth and every nerve and every bit of decay affects the entire immunity of the entire body. Thank you for this amazing video ♡
I have never missed having toothaches since they've been gone. Decay on the top goes to the brain. Decay on the bottom goes to the heart. Everyone needs to stop the decay, it does spread over time.
I've given birth with nothing for pain. I would give birth 8 more x to avoid a toothache. I get migraines but I agree. There is nothing like the horrible pain I get from toothaches😢
The amount of people dying from heart attacks, post dental clearance is scary, plaques straight down the carotid ( I’d say mostly older people) The above point is spot on!
I remember way back when my mom was in her early 50s and got dentures. She had worn partials for years, and her teeth were in rough shape. It was shocking how much younger she looked! It was a huge adjustment, and I know I can’t possibly understand how much she had to go through to get used to them, but she did, and she did well with them
I am on day 3 of my full mouth extraction and I can't stop crying. I don't have the money to replace any kind of smile. I'm so sad and I feel like I made the biggest mistake in my life. Unfortunately, my teeth were not worth saving. There's no way to fix this other than to accept my new situation as it is, what it is. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Hun you say any kind of smile are you referring to implants or anything like dentures? Cause if it’s dentures not sure what state you live but most will cover them on medicaid
I hope you are better, I'm listening to this because I'm going in to have all pulled. I have nothing money for anything fancy but its hard to wear earrings for me so dentures is possible? I dont know! Anyway, I do hope you are happier. ❤
I had all my teeth pulled in October 2019, due to numerous health issues after a car accident. After 32 years of implants and crowns and having non stop sinus infections and swollen lymph glands I just knew it was all these implants. I took the leap and had all my teeth removed. Within 1 week I could feel the difference in my energy and within 2 weeks I was able to actually get out if bed and not experience a fever and swollen lymph nodes. Its been almost 4 years and I would do it all again!
I know it isn't popular what I am going to post but I would go without ANY teeth before I'd get implants - too many horror stories, one being my SIL who has been having a horrible time with full implants she had done many years ago - infection has even hit her inside bottom lip! Bone loss happening around implants as one ages is brutal I've heard - just can not believe people put metal screws in their gum bone! 😢
My teeth have been brittle for years, yesterday another front tooth broke, that was it. I have a consult for snap in . I’m scared , I’m worried about the cost . Don’t know what to expect , Wednesday 3:00 y’all wish me luck
Thank you so much for your time. I’m 44 and have no choice but to start my journey. Mainly because I’m terrified but your channel is helping more then you could imagine. Hit home when you said pain and throbbing, miserable all day goes away I 🙏🏼 that’s the case and I’m sure the people I work with would appreciate it.
Best decision I ever made. I'm 6 months post upper denture and about to get my "permanent" denture. My jaws and gums have shrunk so much. My temporary denture feels huge. It's definitely a process. It feels like trying to eat and talk with golf balls in your mouth. I've cried at times but my old teeth hurt so bad, I don't regret getting a denture. Aaaaaand its so fun taking them out😆 But the first time I really looked in the mirror I cried. This is a great video.🎉
I was a hot mess too! So swollen and bruised with a hockey puck in my mouth. It IS a shock to the system... physical and mental! I remember having to close my eyes to chew so I could focus better on my mouth movements. It was rough for me and I still slur some when I talk, 3 months post 16 extractions, but I wouldn't go back for anything! I only regret putting it off so long!! Having to relearn chewing after 7 years of chewing with only my front teeth was harder than I thought it would be! Re-training my cheek muscles to smile after hiding it for so many years is difficult, too! My advise is life is too short to be tripping on teeth... get it over with and enjoy eating and smiling!! 😁
@@benildatagle1967 it is such mental torture until e-day is over with. I truly feel for you... It is more mental, fear, anxiety, panicky feelings, than physical pain. At least it was for me. The pain before was worse than after for me as well. It's getting through it, sitting in that chair and having it done, that was way worse for me. Fear of regret even though my remaining teeth were so awful. I am so grateful now that it is over and no regrets from the other side! My dentist gave me a pill for my nerves the night before and the morning of, I prayed and meditated my way through it and listened to "Lofi Girl" music on RUclips during the procedure and I was shocked it went so fast! Stay strong and breathe deep... it's worth it! 😊
Oh my….this is EXACTLY what I needed to watch today! I am on day 10 of immediate dentures right after full extractions. I had “buyers remorse” HORRIBLE a few days after surgery. My dentures feel so big and bulky still, and too big. Watching your video has helped ease my mind. I go for my first realign in a few days, and hoping they fit a little better after. So THANK YOU KalinJax!
I’m 4 days in - bruising is colorful, face puffy, big lips w-purple stain/lips peeling/nose feels broken. Teeth fill Big &Tight - Still grieving & regretting though I know it’s for the best! Thanks Kalin you are a light in the scary darkness! Can’t wait to see the eating with bridges video!
@@benildatagle1967 4 in 1 they extracted all of my teeth, but you go home with teeth. They would not have touched my mouth if they didn’t offer sedation!
You are amazing! Two months ago I got all on 4 implants with fixed temporary dentures. My dentist used the scanner and digital computer to make the dentures. I have had a huge problem with the dentures because of the pressure they place on the tissue. Very painful, I am hoping to find some relief with adjustments. I am 68 yr old woman. I could not wear the conventional dentures. Praying for the doctor to know what to do to get me living eating and speaking correctly again. Your video helped, I have felt kinda defeated with all the pain involved but hoping my issue will work out as yours did. The fixed dentures are very different, only the dentist can remove them because they are screw retained. So when in pain there is no takings them out for relief. Bless you and thank you for sharing your journey!
I hear two different stories from people all the time. I hear people who want to commit suicide, and I have a female friend who had 20 rotten discussing broken teeth pulled got beautiful dentures and she loves them. If that little 90lb girl can go through all that there's hope for all of us.
@@jennyd5728 for me it was lots of depression sensory issues with brushing meds I took and the 5 kids I birthed. All of that seriously screwed up my teeth

I'm glad I found this video. I've had top dentures for just over a year and hated every single day since. Mistake no. 1 ... I've never been back to a dentist. Mistake no. 2 I don't practice eating with them. Mistake no. 3. I take them out every chance I get. They don't look bad, I just can't talk properly and they feel like I have a block of plastic in my mouth and I still sometimes have a gag reflex. I feel like my life is over, I hardly ever leave my house. Medicaid Aids in South Africa hardly ever pay for dental costs except for the bare minimum anyway. Really, I regret them every single day 😢😢😢
I wish so badly that I would have had someone like this to watch when I got my dentures about eight years ago. I had a very difficult time with it but I'm so much better now. Thanks for doing what you do!
I am about a week into having my dentures. I don't regret it one bit. yes, being without teeth for that 24ish hours was really weird. The amount of random pain that has magically disappeared around my body is the icing on the cake. It is one of the best feelings in the world that I, after 40 years of living with bad teeth, to be proud of my smile.. and this is just the temporary set. Yes, the eating part is hard, I crave all of the things that I know I cannot have at this point. I know it will come.
Did you have any health issues that disappeared once you had your teeth removed ? I’m about to possibly go the anchored denture route and I’ve heard that many people had an instant weight lifting off there shoulders sort of sensation and better health right after removal of bad/dead teeth.
@@1MrBanff without a doubt!! Aches and pains around my entire body are almost completely gone. I do still have a few, from other medical issues. I’d been suffering from chronic pain for over a decade.. random pain. I don’t regret it at all. I miss eating my normal diet is really the only complaint I have.
@Wellness Warrior1 weirdness was my hair had been falling out. It quit now I had all my teeth extracted 1 month ago. Allergies calmed down immediately. My teeth were worked on extensively in my 20s to 40s am now 65 and have gum disease, lost teeth, and broken teeth. Feeling so much better it's strange. I had fillings in most of my teeth, caps, and root canals (3). Kind of happy to have out of body.
I’ve slowly had teeth pulled, so I’ve had the rest pulled and it’s been months. I wonder if my experience will be different than the ones who get them pulled and dentures immediately right away?im 38 and so self conscious I actually enjoyed the mandatory mask requirement so no one would have to see me with no teeth
Bruh… I got a “flipper” from my dentist. Not supposed to be the end game but I’ve been rocking these for ages. I’m 40 and getting my grill situated was a great call. It was relatively affordable and it works for me. Wish y’all the best.
Wait until your gum is completely healed. Then get the denture if it hurts go back to the dentist to get it rubdown to fit properly. It will feel funny to eat with for about a week but don't take it out if you do you will never get comfortable eating with them. I have dentures over 29 yrs now.
I am currently in the regret phase. I got my dentures last week and I cannot stand them. They hurt- they are huge, I can barely fit them in my mouth with enough room to swallow. I have been crying every single day. This video has given me so much hope. I truly appreciate you sharing your journey. Thank you so much for your inspiring words. I am going to try to wear them and see if it gets better. Thank you again!
Never regretted getting my upper dentures, yes I was sore for a bit but the instant dentures worked out perfect. It’s now 3 years and I’m still wearing the same ones, don’t need adhesive and am so happy I can smile. Also can eat fine… still love the crunchy French bread
@merillawentz4688 please tell me how there is no denture paste, glue, adhesive ? I am not going forward due to that so kindly tell me how that gets done and if it's implant where metal is put in gumline not for me metal attracts end frequencies, not for me.
@@maryannsinopoli8957 Not sure if you understand dentures, I did not get implants, heard too many horror stories, I got same day dentures and they fit perfectly, never needed to use adhesives because they are a perfect fit. So glad I got them and grateful for the experienced dentist that did this for me. Wishing you well 🌷
I could only wear the top denture for like four to six months-THEN I finally started (slowly) introducing the lower denture. It was a major adjustment for me-very uncomfortable at first, but with time and a lot of mental priming I got used to it. I had to convince myself MENTALLY that the dentures were my real teeth-and that made all the difference and was the only way for me adjust. Took about a year. Much love y’all! 🖤
I'm trying to wear my bottom permanent dentures as much as I can. I look different but everyone gives me compliments, I think my neck looks fat n them. I'm scared to get implants & don't want to go thru all that pain again so I guess I'll get use to them. Still not too pleased yet.
My partner had all of his teeth extracted in April, and the dentist actually recommended letting his gums heal entirely and waiting for his permanent set. He was sooo glad he didn’t get immediate dentures- he was virtually pain free by the third day and was eating solid food with no teeth by the second week. He’s now in the process of getting his dentures fitted and done… My tooth extraction journey is coming up this next spring and my mind was set on immediate dentures (because I work with the public) but after seeing what he went through versus people who had immediate dentures, I’m waiting as well. It’ll also save me around $1,600!
Ur teeth look amazing. I would've never guessed they weren't ur own! I'm in the beginning of this adventure. Haven't even had my teeth pulled yet because I'm having a terrible time coming to terms with the fact I'm gonna HAVE TO get dentures sooner or later. My teeth are really bad. The anxiety I got when I saw myself in the mirror was almost crippling. I need to get mine relined now but I can say that I'm happy I did it. my swelling was so bad and I thought I would never be able to eat and talk right but it does get better.
Thank you for your channel!! There is a stigma about teeth...and dentures. Why dentistry isnt automatically covered by health insurance is ridiculous in my opinion! But, on behalf of people like me, that didnt do drugs or have an accident...I just had bad teeth no matter how well I took care of them! To someone that has never had the pain and shame of bad teeth, they can't understand how wonderful it is to smile and chew crunchy things, to not have infections...it was a hard adjustment and truthfully I didn't see in the beginning how I would ever adjust but, now I am grateful every day...every, single, day!!!!
i am so grateful for these videos. One week ago i got all my top teeth extracted. Its been soooo rough. I wish id found these videos before. EVERYONE spent the whole time telling me how much better everything would get. My extraction resulted in a sinus perforation. I've been miserable since. Ive been regretting everything. This video as well as others, has been helpful at managing the overwhelming feelings. this pain wont last forever. this headache hopefully wont last forever.
hey any updates? I've had 7 top teeth taken out allready mainly at the back though and thinking I'll have to get dentures sooner then later it was always the plan it's just when that will be. scared.
This video brought tears to my eyes. Long history of cavities here. I have always taken care of my teeth but cavities just always cropped up. My teeth do not take drilling and fillings. It was always temporary and within the year that particular tooth that was worked on, would break and I never could afford dental insurance and didnt qualify for care credit because I had low income for years. I would go and have those broken teeth pulled during free extraction day at the local government clinic. With what little teeth I had left in the back, I lost many when I was pregnant for my twins. I have no bottom back teeth. Because of this, my upper back teeth are somewhat useless, so to speak. I can't chew well with just upper teeth. I know what needs to happen and I can't afford implants to replace just the ones I've lost..I cry a lot, focusing on the negative and although it's rough having this poor mouth environment, I can't imagine not having my own teeth. The ones I have left are not rotting..they look normal. Anyway, I felt all of what you said. Research leads to understanding and that can calm nerves but what I loved about this video is that it was informative but also reached the human emotional level of this journey. Aside from "how much is this going to cost", this type of dialog is the most important part of it all.. this right here. Thank you..I'd never guess in a million years you wear dentures. I'd run right now to have the rest of mine pulled, if I knew I'd get teeth like yours. I'll probably end up with your first pair..if I'm even that lucky. When it's time to do this, I'll remember everything you've said. This is the only video I've seen that gives me hope. Thank you so much.
I have my assessment in 6 days and im super nervous because typically I have bad luck with things in general. Im always in pain and im so self conscious so im definitely doing this but im scared. Thank you for this video, i needed to see this video. Its reminded me to no matter what, stay positive and make myself get used to it.
8 hours away from 16 upper extraction and immediate denture put in. This video and all the comments have already relieved some of my anxieties. My mindset and attitude are I've delt with dental pain for so many years I'm ready for it to be done and over with. I just can't stop the thoughts of how the extraction and bone reshaping process is gonna be. I'm terrified but this too shall pass
My wife just got her upper dentures as I type. She is going thru the exact same issues, but it is really good to see how great yours came out. We just returned as she has excessive bleeding, and they just told me. That they are going to re cement them once the bleeding stops. I myself had dentures done several years ago. So I know all too well the adjustments you go thru on getting used to the fact that they are permanent. I eventually came to grips with it, but it did take time.
I am scared to death, I cry at night thinking what is about to come and the thought of losing all my teeth. However there is no other options for me so here I am on the beginning of this journey. My Dentist is very kind and has broken down every step of the way for me including chair time, diet plans, and total 8 months recovery time. He is also responsible for sending me your RUclips link 🥰 We have decided on semi permanent Phonares. Thank you for sharing your experience I thought I was the only person feeling this way! 😢 I had no idea there are support groups out there! 🤗
I've had my dentures put in 3 days ago and I felt like giving up! I lost 15lbs in the month of having my teeth pulled. I'm going on a trip next week and hope it doesn't get too hard to eat food. Sometimes it's hard to taste foods. You're video helped me alot to feel better about myself in that I will get thru this and my life will get better! I can't thank you enough. GOD SPEED!
Does loosing weight affect how your dentures fit? Sorry may be a silly question & I'm at the very beginning of my journey doing research by asking questions
I had my dentures put in late last year. I was never warned by my dentist that they would be so out of whack. I did my hours upon hours of research, asked tons of questions and here I sit staring in the mirror miserable. I’ve had 10 adjustments and I was told that because I have a small mouth there’s no more than can be done and I’m not a candidate for implants because of bone density. So I have to deal with this somehow! Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I’m so glad that I came across this video! 🥰
I just got mine done yesterday and I’m glad I did I haven’t smiled in probably 20 years, I can’t eat I’m sore and can’t talk. But thank you for this post I’m encouraged. Keep doing what your doing.
Thank you for this video. I’m 4 months into the temporary dentures and still regretting it. I clinging to the hope that the permanent will be better. It helps knowing I’m not alone in regretting and that it gets better.
I'm on the precipice of getting my top teeth pulled on Wednesday. I've had bad teeth since I was a teen who was anorexia/bulimic, and they really started crumbling when I had kids. I've not done it til now because of fear. Seriously, I'm autistic and the crunching and drilling sends me into major panic attack mode. But now I have to, I can barely eat and the discomfort is 24/7/365. I'm glad I found you, you've already helped allay some of my fears. Thank you, you have a new subscriber.❤
I am well past the initial journey. I have to say I am an exception. My mind set was different from most and I have never felt regret in light of everything. My teeth were destroyed from the inside, no amount of brushing or flossing was going to fix my issue. I learned from my primary care physician in 2012 that i was diabetic. Out of all the things that could have gone wrong, loss of eye sight and a host of many others, I feel fortunate that my teeth were the sacrifice to my disease. I had stated many times over the years, due to teeth pain and sensitivity to cold (unaware that diabetes was leading the way on the destruction of my teeth) that I just wanted my teeth pulled and give me dentures already. My E-Day was December 2019. I received my dentures in March 2020. My insurance did not allow for a healing set or immediate set of dentures, so i went three months with no teeth. I spent those three months strengthening my gums. Gargling with warm salt water, and eventually stopping once the sting of the salt was no longer present. I ate toast, then stepped up to Cheetos Puffs as they were abrasive all the way through (unlike toast). Yes it hurt like hell but I knew the end result would be beneficial. Adhesives sucked and destroyed the flavor of anything I ate or drank. The initial wearing of my dentures was an adjustment to say the least, but I was mentally ready for this change. There was no room for my tongue, my speech was peppered with whistles and my mouth was just slam full of two foreign objects. I got used to this and I planned on being adhesive free in about a year or so. Six months later in September 2020, I got my first lab reline. I have been adhesive free ever since, six months sooner than anticipated. My speech automatically adjusts depending if I have my dentures in or not. It's as if my tongue has two settings. Dentures in means less distance to roof of mouth and dentures out means more distance to roof of mouth. My tongue adjusted over many months. I still have a lisp without dentures but my enunciation is much clearer and cleaner now than it was at the start. Everyone heals differently, some faster some slower, I was in the camp of faster. Your mental state is the most important aspect of this transition to life without teeth. My dentist was shocked when I told him I can eat pistachios with my dentures (believe me I can eat anything with my dentures, and due to my gum strengthening regimen most things without dentures) and his response to me was "most people can't". I feel there are two reasons why most people can't A) they can't wrap their mind around the concept of dentures and feel overwhelmed with the thought of having to learn to chew all over again or B) they leave their dentures in 24/7 except when they clean them and pop them back into their mouths, which results in mushy gums as they never allow their mouth to dry out from the excess fluid retained around the gums by leaving the dentures in 24/7 so this leaves them unable to eat anything as their gums are now mushy as the bone within the gums has been reabsorbed by the body. Everyone's healing process and adaptation to wearing dentures is different. So needless to say someone else's journey will be far different than mine was. I am happy and very pleased with my dentures. I wish all who have to take on this journey find enlightenment and reassurance that millions of people have gone through this at one time or another. And there is a vast community of people out there, as well as videos on RUclips, that can ease your hesitance and perhaps help to speed up your mental recovery.
That story was hilarious 😂 I’m only 4 days post 19 teeth extraction and also have to wait 3 months for dentures. I thought maybe I was in denial, but I’m continuing to eat the few things I enjoy while I wait. PS, I’m a terrible patient !!! But so good to hear how to strengthen your gums prior to 👍 TY
I remember day by day the procedure and the comments and self reflection. Your video's helped me through the transformation process. One thing that stuck with me was how the dentures felt, felt, felt to me rather than what others thought I looked like. And lo and behold soooooo many people complimented me on my new smile.
I have to say thank you dentist didn't prepare but actually kind of hurried me too decide dentures or a new parture that was broke but I'd worry comfortably for maybe 15 years and because my neighbor had beautiful teeth dentures I choose those but who really talked about the problems and what you go thru so thanks for a platform where I'm not alone in this situation
3 months ago I got my immediate dentures. Adjustment has been TOUGH, but your warnings were so helpful. I did have a time of regret... But I am happier now. It's been a process, & I am grateful that I found you BEFORE I started the process.
The only regret I have about my dentures is the gum shrinkage .I have had them since I was 40 years old within a year I aged about 5 years I got wrinkles and line indentations all around my lips and mouth .I am 50 now and I look 60 around my mouth .My gums are tiny .I really wish I would have had the money for the snap in or magnetic dentures .It really causes me to have a low self esteem I hope that people really think about all their different options.Mine was because of the money issue .Thank you for telling us about the good and the bad .Others always say how great it is only
My mom is in her 70s. Has five implanted individual teeth. It cost her $25,000 for that. Three of them failed each time they failed. The dentist charged $5,000 per tooth. Then about A month ago. She had infection underneath the implant. The implant had to be removed. So the dentist could drain the infection. She was on antibiotics for 10 days. The misconception that implants are easy or that they eliminate infection. Is simply not true. I am 50 years old also. So I know that having my teeth pulled. Replaced with dentures will age me. I can live with that. No more infected teeth for the rest my life. Sounds terrific to me.
Yep, 6 months after, and getting a complication with the bottom set, I had virtually a panic attack but now after a year I'm into the acceptance stage and past the regrets, in no small part to inspirational, open, genuine, sensitive people like yourself. Thank You.
I'm literally here because I just had my extraction 4 days ago and I f'd up! 😢 😭 I am having a really hard time Thanks for the pep talk. It still feels like I will be the only person who never adjusts.
I will have my teeth pulled out this month too... I hope we can share updates with how we are feeling. I'm trying to prepare myself psychologically because I'm so scared about how I will look when I have to remove the dentures at night.
Aww you will be fine just give it a little time to get well and adjust to it . Just remember if everyone wants to live to be old, yes , they will go through the same thing whether they get them full or they come out by themselves
😮😮30 years ago, my mom was having health issues because of her teeth. It was a hard journey, but it was well worth it in the long run. Today she is a very healthy independent 94 year old woman.
I have regretted getting my dentures big time! It’s been 1 year and a half and now I have to get new ones made because they hurt in places and just not comfortable. I’m praying that the new ones got me better!!
I had my top teeth all pulled today and have immediate top dentures, had some pain but the moment I saw my top set of dentures I cried tears of happiness and joy. I’m 40 and have had bad teeth nearly my whole life. I’m happy I made this decision because I was getting depressed and avoided talking and would run away so I didn’t have to speak to anyone. But I’ll take it day by day as I can say it is a better decision then having decayed, broken and in pain and continues infection. I’m happy and excited fort this new chapter of my life to be able to just smile and not be ashamed and embarrassed. Thank you for your videos
why did you chose denture vs implants or are you on the way getting implants. I have some of my front teeth needing implants and bridge. But I am considering getting dentures. I feel tired of dental work
@@imperfect13Implants are much better than dentures. If you can't afford Implants, you can go overseas to get them. My friend went to India to get them. He got upper and lower Implants and they came out great for 10,000 dollars. He has a great implant dentist in India he can recommend to you.
My husband is one year into his denture journey. He definitely had regrets but I think they’re gone now.. He still has trouble eating steak and some sandwiches…. Like a sub sandwich or a big burger. He misses things that are out of the question, like taffy and gum. But as he went through the first few months, I could not have been more proud of him.
I’m 34 & I have just started the process of getting my smile back. I have to have an immediate top denture & a partial put in at the bottom in September. I’m really nervous & scared, I knew I would need dentures. But was just terrified of what the process was going to be like. I really wish I would’ve taken care of my teeth once I became an adult. But watching your videos these past few weeks, have really assured me that everything is going to be alright! I just need to trust the process!
Thank you for your inspiring video and sharing your story. It helps me feel better knowing that I'm gonna have partial denture soon. All the anxiety, stress and social interactions is just overwhelming and parting with teeth that one can never get back.
just want to say thanks. I had mine for about ten days and they still hurt to put in and take out. Once in the pain goes away after a few minutes. I feel weird and think I look strange but I'm so happy with them. Thank you for posting. This video made my morning and you look great, great smile.
I absolutely love mine. Take them out to eat ice cream, ecstasy! Getting rid those toxic old metal filled teeth is like being reborn and that comes as un unexpected bonus. You're going to get old but your teeth won't. I don't use adhesive, don't take them out often. Only bad experience was when I lost them and found the dog chewing them under the bed.
@@maryannsinopoli8957 It is better with glue but for just round the house and at work I don't bother. Top set I still have the two canines steel capped as anchors so I never glue them. Bottom set had one anchor which I lost eventually and there's now a gap which adds to the realism. I still rarely glue them although they are loose and haven't I just got used to them. I've got the same tube of Fixadent I bought when I got the teeth about 5 years ago and it's looking good for a few years yet.
@@maryannsinopoli8957 🤣 It doesn't taste great and it melts with hot drinks and you can taste it then. You can probably get different flavors nowadays. My Grandmother had all hers out on the kitchen table with no anesthetic when she was 18. It was a luxury back then. Teeth were a curse. It was what you got as a coming of age present if your folks could afford it. Think yourself lucky to have the opportunity.
I knew I needed dentures but couldn’t bring myself to do it. Saw your videos an it gave me the confidence to do it. It will be a year in July since I got them. Thanks for all the encouragement you give people, it changes our lives.
I’m 75 and was born with teeth that were defective. They crumbled and had exposed roots. By 24 all were root canal’d and capped. So, eventually everything abscessed because of so much ‘work’ over decades! All of my teeth were pulled at one time while awake. Not great! My first dentures were GREAT!! But… later to have replacement dentures 😵💫 I never have been able to get bottom dentures that fit. Uppers always stay great! Never needed adhesive’s. So I still use the original bottom denture worn down from 30 years ago. I can’t afford implants!!!
Thanks for sharing. I had full extraction in mid January it's now beginning of May and I'm just starting to feel like myself again. I literally went through the stages of grief...yes grief! Once I named what I was feeling I was able to be more compassionate with myself and feel much closer to acceptance today. I wish anyone considering this type of life altering procedure to do a quick mental health check to be sure their cup can handle having this much poured in at once. They make people who need to lose more than a few pounds go through psych testing so the question im left with is: in what reality does losing apart of you that significantly alters your appearance and how you interact with life doesn't at least get an honorable mention? Be mindful of this if you are heading in this direction and much luck on your journey💕
36 hours since I had my whole top row pulled, 4 implants and immediate dentures. Tons of pain still. Huge shock. But compared to what I used to have? No question, I made the right choice. It’s gonna suck for awhile, but it was still well worth it.
Today I get 24 my teeth pulled in a full set put in. It's currently before 5:00 a.m. where I am. I can't stop crying and I'm shaking like a leaf. But thank you for putting this video out and creating a community to lean on. Wish me luck. 😢
How did you go with your teeth ? Hope all went well.❤
Good luck with the rest of your life,Ken👍🏻
I'm one month in with top dentures..it's getting easier, swelling almost gone, and can eat a few normal things😂 I wish you the best!
Any updates? Hope it went well for you.
I got 6 tooth pull and got my denture the same day.The only problem I had my right jaw on the right bottom was sore a week no problem now
Having my teeth removed is one of the best decisions I've made. I was scared at first but when I was able to eat ice cream , drink hot / cold and smile big it made it all worth it.
Yesssss!!! ❤️
@@crushit95763 on 6. Google it.
Thank you.
I feel exactly like this 5 days with my dentures I'm in pain and can't talk and hardly eat I feel like my dentures are crooked in my mouth
How are you doing now? I'm so sorry. My grandparents never said anything about all this and they both had dentures.
I hope things are better and don't give up and remember that they will get better... mine are horrible tbh and i am still in far far better shape than I ever was before... i almost died once from the infections... anyways.
They won't tell you that until your teeth are pulled and your going nuts from pain and misery

@@georgemohr George; As a pro, what is your opinion of the DIY home denture kits?
We refer to this approach as the '3 Appointment Denture"
Keep it simple ...
How is it going now??
When my granddaughter realised I had dentures she would tell everyone Nanny take your teeth out ,when I was trying to hide the fact

I don’t have dentures, but if I did….i wouldn’t want to broadcast it lol
Man, I cannot wait to be you. My last tooth infection led to sepsis and I spent this last Christmas in the hospital. It’s just so expensive 😢

Thank you for this. Going through the nightmarish process of losing your teeth is nothing short of traumatic. Thank you for sharing your story
Surely helped me will have my friend come and listen

Xo

@Sharon thank you and I did it!! Iv had them for two weeks today
Having worked in dentistry for many years, I would never have known they were dentures, they are sooo natural! How lovely of you to reassure others to help people overcome their fears about wearing dentures. 🤩
Than you are just fooling yourself
She originally had dentures but went on to get implants. But yes, great natural look.
@@elsonck2523 She has the all-on-4 dentures. They are something like 2 or 4 implants with the denture put on them. And I agree, her teeth look really good. Her dentist has a great sense of aesthetics for natural looking teeth. That's not easy to find; so many dentists make these perfect looking teeth that scream "DENTURES". lol
Thanks for clarifying. My son needs to have dentures. Total implants are $25,000 and not affordable.
I would really like to smile again and talk to people AND eat. No insurance unfortunately.
So I just take them out and chew with my front teeth…
Plus it’s hard for me to swallow at times and it takes forever to chew up the food just to swallow safely. I just wish the teeth they use in a denture was a bit sharper or thinner or something!
You should go back and have a new impression made now that the gums have receded therefore making a much better denture fitting all round.
Good for you! That's such an amazing feeling.
Why did you have to wait 4 weeks for immediates?
I got my immediates put in right after the extractions one week after impressions.
@@bogiboglin2702 My dentist recommended that I not get immediate on extraction day due to my specific case. He said it would be better to wait 2 weeks. It ended up that I did a wax turn-in at 3 weeks, and I had the immediate placed the next week.
Hey I had my immediate upper Denture done on Tuesday April 12th! How are you feeling today? I hope good! 🙏 I'm doing way better than I had thought I would! Stay strong
Ha! New Zealand is of a high necessity for me asap😊 It's a beautiful place like a fairy tale 🏞️🏔️🌅🏔️🌈
Why did you have to get them at such a young age- your 20's ?!
I did too. 25 years old. Medication caused my teeth to crumble. @michelle-zd2nc
Without implants, I would be worried the bone and jaw would shrink. Are there things you are learning about how to minimize that?
@@GlassOnion602 I'm really not sure about the shrinkage. After talking to several people i know with dentures they've not expressed a problem with this, only gum shrinkage but i knew that already. Of course, this will be different for some, it all depends on that persons situation. Implants won't be for everyone as previous problems can lead to a weak jaw bone and from what i understand implants come with a higher level of maintenance, never mind the cost! Either way, it is what it is, I'll see what happens but I'm not worrying about it.
@@maryannsinopoli8957 I've got three and after several years nothing happened like that.
@@maryannsinopoli8957 I have a few dental implants and I will not get another one. I have had a metalic taste in my mouth since they put them in. And sores in my mouth and other problems that were not there before. They are tintanium but I also read that there is no such thing as "pure" titanium and I am allergic to metals. So I might get them out and my other teeth and get dentures.
One day I got a tooth ache and said, “That’s it‼️” I had all of my teeth removed and people were shocked. After healing, I’ve had NO MORE PAIN🙏🏻 Thank you for your videos. People need to know these things. One must adapt to new methods of eating, but the no pain part is worth it all.

As a student nurse looking for denture info, THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. Your honesty and your journey provided me information for patients that I never thought about. I appreciate this, your video was like finding gold! ❤
Got it. I was being an asshole.
If you have teeth in your mouth, you have hope! Look to minerals,. herbs. supplements.....to heal your teeth!
It’s crazy that this came up today. My husband just got dentures yesterday and is having a hard time. I sent this video to him and think it will help him out. Thanks!

I'm 47 and just got 4 on 4 implants. With the iv sedation it was like I remember panicking for 3 seconds and then a guy tapping me on the shoulder 3 seconds later telling me I was done. 3 hrs passed and I felt or remember nothing.
I just had my 2 week appt after getting my teeth pulled(bc of soft teeth) and getting the immediate denture. I received my first soft liner. The difference was night and day which definitely helped with the process. I’m now trying to accept using denture adhesive so I can eat tougher foods.
Thank you! This has been the hardest 7 days of my life and I ABSOLUTELY needed this right now. I’m determined to make it work. 😉

Since then there has been a steady decline in the health of my teeth and for the first time I am entertaining having them removed. Diabetes sucks. Anyway, thank you for such a personal testimony. It helps to know. You look great btw:)
Why did the tooth need to be pulled instead of replacing the crown?
You can only have tooth repaired for failed root canal. About two times after that it has to be pulled. My mom is 76 she has had several teeth pulled. Because of the same reason as this lady has. With my mom she had them replaced with implants.
I just had my teeth removed 3 days ago, and I get my dentures this friday. the first time I looked in the mirror, it terrified me. I'm so nervous about the whole process still to come, but I've needed this for so long. I needed to hear everything you had to say.

@@jennyd5728 drinking too much mtw dew bud had over 20 rotten and got all pulled
Amen!

Really, I regret them every single day 😢😢😢
I’m so sorry you are struggling friend. It will get better ❤ hang in there ❤️
7 years, I do all the same.
You could always trim the upper palette yourself to reduce gag reflex.
I have the same 😢
Keep them in at all cost an practice eating with them an after awhile you won't even remember you have them in
I wish so badly that I would have had someone like this to watch when I got my dentures about eight years ago.
@@sandy_sd10 That's awesome, Hopefully I have a similar experience
I’ve slowly had teeth pulled, so I’ve had the rest pulled and it’s been months. I wonder if my experience will be different than the ones who get them pulled and dentures immediately right away?im 38 and so self conscious I actually enjoyed the mandatory mask requirement so no one would have to see me with no teeth
Same I still like wearing masks cos of my teeth lol
Me too!!😂
Bruh…
I got a “flipper” from my dentist.
@@stangreen4134What is a flipper if I can ask?
I am currently in the regret phase. I got my dentures last week and I cannot stand them. They hurt- they are huge, I can barely fit them in my mouth with enough room to swallow. I have been crying every single day. This video has given me so much hope. I truly appreciate you sharing your journey. Thank you so much for your inspiring words. I am going to try to wear them and see if it gets better. Thank you again!
Shannon are you doing better ?
I hope you feel much better now and got used to them ❤
Never regretted getting my upper dentures, yes I was sore for a bit but the instant dentures worked out perfect.
Yeah it was painful for a few days, but with proper mouth care and following the instructions after the procedure it healed beautifully and so it was a great experience.
My husband had the rest of his teeth pulled. Almost two weeks ago. He is eating solid food. Without any teeth either.
Missing the majority of the top ones. The bottom aren't as bad but if I'm getting top dentures I figure why not get the bottom too. I keep putting off even scheduling an appointment to get my teeth pulled. Watching your video has helped me I think. I've only watched this one but I definitely plan to watch all ur videos. Thank you for sharing your story. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'll benefit from it! You're beautiful!! God bless you!!!
Those dentures Look good. Tis a process and i was anxious at first.
Anyhow I got acclimated to the fit and using the adhesive. A Health condition caused hardship and I was able to get mine through Medicaid having no income awaiting disability.

But, on behalf of people like me, that didnt do drugs or have an accident...I just had bad teeth no matter how well I took care of them! @@ella-bt8hp How do the dentures feel
I hope it went well & you're doing better 🙏
Dgr how is it going ?
My wife just got her upper dentures as I type. She is going thru the exact same issues, but it is really good to see how great yours came out. We just returned as she has excessive bleeding, and they just told me. That they are going to re cement them once the bleeding stops. I myself had dentures done several years ago. So I know all too well the adjustments you go thru on getting used to the fact that they are permanent. I eventually came to grips with it, but it did take time.
I am scared to death, I cry at night thinking what is about to come and the thought of losing all my teeth. However there is no other options for me so here I am on the beginning of this journey. i lost 15lbs too, i know, it does get better
It doesn't get better ! I have upper and bottom partial dentures. Horrible

@@loricreed I wish I had been. I had to beg them to give me nitrous.
I've been watching your videos for years. They've really helped put me at ease about my own rapidly-worsening dental problems.

Thank You.
