  • Did my full mouth extractions hurt? NOPE. The shots hurt. The swelling was uncomfortable. But for me, my full mouth extractions hurt no worse than a single tooth extraction.

I was completely awake threw the whole procedure. Just had all my top pulled out last week. I am a baby when it comes to pain. Look at me? Im a stick, I can't take much... So believe me when I say, if you have a dentist that knows what he is doing, it will not hurt one bit. I have only used ibprofin as a pain med as well. Believe me folks, its so worth it. Right now I have no teeth, waiting for the healing period, but I can say I feel sooooooo much better because I no longer have any rotten or broken teeth.

I went in yesterday for a full extraction, top and bottom. I was given a pill to take 1 hour before for nausea and Triazolam for anxiety 30 minutes before the procedure. It didn't do anything for me. I requested the 2nd pill which I was given 30 minutes after the first. Still nothing..I didn't even get groggy. They put numbing ointment on my gums prior to the shots, which helped a little bit and I recommend. My back molars came out fine but I had to be numbed again and again as they moved towards my front teeth. I think the pain from the shots was due from infection in my front tooth. I stopped the procedure after the last top tooth was out..and will go back to do the bottom next week. I withstood what I could take..my advice is, if you feel it, let them know and if its too much, stop it. I am pretty tough and have had shots in my mouth many times but my mind and body needed a break.
I have not experienced any pain from the extractions at all but I am following the after care to a T.
As said before everyone is different but dont be ashamed or afraid to say it hurts!! If you are not IV sedated, you are allowed to let them know your pain/discomfort levels..

Just had full mouth extraction two days ago. It was one of most painful things I have ever felt. I had teeth pulled due to severe bruxism. During COVID I had ground my teeth to the gum line in several areas. I have problems with Novocaine not being as effective on the left side of my face. I had so many shots of Novocaine, in some extremely painful area. Then had to get shots of anesthesia directly into a few spots. Several times getting a tooth partially removed and then having to stop because of pain. It was awful. The staff were incredibly kind and really supportive during the painful parts. It took 24 hours for my mouth to stop bleeding and now my face is swolled and heavily bruised. It has been a tough ride. So it can be painful process, but it is what has to be done.

I was attacked on NYC Subway in the 80’s…I remember broken jaw, teeth, skull, clavicle etc….gruesome situation. Doctors at NYU Langhone put me back together….additional surgeons made me normal..
Until this past year. My jawbone is breaking down, teeth falling out. Hearing issues, neck and head pain I never had before….
I have watched many of your videos. This one freaked me out. Those memories of being wrapped in ice and yards of gauze to keep me together. Tons of surgeries and pain. Scars on the outside and inside my skull/face.
OH NO 🙈 this triggered me to cry 😭 hysterically. I have to go through this again?
    I don’t have a choice. I’m refusing dentures. I’m going for the 4/6 implants.
Next week I have another appointment. The fear is real.

I had the top taken off in one day. Was given a pill that made me light sleep, but able to answer questions. My shots were given after that medication never felt the shots. After I found that all my teeth were sawed off. Never felt or remembered a thing. I brought a blanket with me, good idea. Never felt the four implants, and came home with teeth. Felt great, not stitches. Still trying to decide what to do as I am not comfortable with the permanent uppers. My lowers have implants, but they are removable, and easy to clean with an ultrasonic cleaner. Good luck to everyone going down this path.

bless your heart. in the long run if that was necessary you'll feel better. the whole deal is getting use to it, took me a year. the hardest part is the ego deal and making sure you work with your dentist on how want to look recreating your natural smile. so bottom line any where from 6 months to a yr. stay on top of how you want those things feel, look and fit don't be afraid to speak up on what you want and why.

    • @moss8448
      @moss8448 2 года назад +4

take for example my first ones where way too protruding hell I looked like somebody else. remember how you looked and hold em to it. what you'll get is somebody else's idea of what your mouth or what your smile should look like, few go by what it was so in your deallings start tweaking back to the way it was. things like making sure your new teeth go high enough, the amount of product they use doesn't make you look like you were punched in the mouth a week ago, when you open and close your mouth it doesn't pull the uppers down (smooth lip action i.e.) remember it really is a work in progress.

I just had a full mouth extraction 4 days ago so the memory is fresh. (26 teeth)
I was prescribed Valium 5mg and told to take 2 an hour before my appointment.
I must say, they didn’t do much, probably could have taken another.
First thing they do is take your blood pressure. Your bottom number must be under 100 or they can’t proceed. Mine was 104 even with taking the Valium. So they waited 10 minutes and took it again which was then 94 so they were able to proceed.
Dentist swabbed my upper mouth with numbing gel, waited a few mins then began to give the shots. He explained he’d done 100’s of these so no worries! Lol
He also told me he was going to wait till after my uppers were pulled before he numbs my lowers. I thought that was nice!
I felt every shot but just a prick, no pain, and I didn’t ever at any point ask him to stop. I laid completely still and allowed him to work.
He stared with my right side back molars and worked his way around. I could hear him drop each tooth onto the metal tray. I thought I’d been counting each but then he said we’re done with the top!
    I said THATS CRAZY!
They laughed. I had only counted about 6 teeth I’d thought he pulled when he said “your tops are done now going to numb your bottom.”
I didn’t feel him take out most of my uppers. I HEARD a cracking sound when he apparently was twisting the tooth to loosen. That’s it.
    No biggie!!
Same with the bottoms however I did feel some slight discomfort when he began pulling the bottoms because he didn’t wait for the shots to take full effect, he just started pulling. It still was no biggie.
The entire procedure took 1 hr 15 min and that included the wait time for my blood pressure to come down.
What I did feel after the first shots to my upper was my heart throbbing. I could literally feel it in my throat.
So when they returned after letting the shots take affect for about 8 mins I told them about it. They said that’s normal for the Novocain to do that, so they proceed to pull my teeth.
This having all my teeth pulled was my greatest stress prior.
I thought I can deal with all the after effects of having no teeth and immediate dentures, I just need to get through this day.
    I did with EASE!
My mouth was numb for about 3-4 hrs after leaving the office but I was prescribed Ibuprofen 600 and took it every 6 hrs for 3 1/2 days, then didn’t need it anymore.
    That’s MY story.
    You’ll all be fine!
    No worries!
    You can do this!!

I woke up looking around trying to figure out if they pulled my teeth and they did lol. All I could eat on day 1 was a pint of ice cream. Each day is better. I'm on day 5 eating ravioli. Not much swelling. It hurts on the front of my lower jaw and I think that's where they did a bone graft. My mom wore dentures for years with no problems. I hope I'm like her.

We anxiety people send our love and comfort. Just know others with our problem have successfully succeeded and did not die. Just like anxiety is uncomfortable we will not die. Remember it is a process design to protect us and not harm us. Anxiety and panic are in fact quite harmless. IF you will stop fighting it and allow it with a curious exploratory outlook you will discover that it will come and go A WHOLE LOT SOONER that usual and when this finally first happens to you there will be the most humongous Ah-Ha moment that triggers this amazing victory dance unlike anything you've ever experienced and the liberation will in fact encourage you in ways you actually dream about. Again, we love ya you awesome human!

I am one of the not so lucky ones that had a lot of pain! I was under general anesthesia for 7 1/2 hours. I had 24 extractions
, bone grafting, large hole in my sinus repaired, 10 implants and the lower arch placed. Unexpectedly I had to wear a denture on the top for 3 months. It was all extremely painful for me. The first 2 -3 days I had an extreme headache. I did take traditional pain medication that my surgeon prescribed. I am pretty sure it was Oxycodone. I got home on Tuesday night from surgery around 8 or 9pm. I stayed in bed on the following Wednesday and Thursday but was able to stay up on Friday. So really 2 full days out of commission after surgery but then it took me several more days to get back to “normal”. But you know what I would do it all over again in a heartbeat! It is so worth it ❤️

I underwent a procedure where all my teeth were extracted at once, and I was conscious throughout. The relief from the pain of having bad teeth was different from the post-extraction pain. The numerous injections for numbing were almost dreamlike. It took several shots to achieve complete numbness, and if I felt anything, they administered more. After the extractions and immediate denture placement, I managed to drive home, which was an hour away. However, once I got home, the pain was so intense that all I could do was lie down, sleep, and let the blood drain. The following day, the pain had subsided to a dull ache. I didn't take any pain medication. The discomfort was significant, and I had to endure it. However, the alternative would have been a mouth full of painful, bad teeth.

Three weeks ago on the 24th of Feb I had 8 top teeth at the back removed with alveoloplasty (not counting wisdoms as all 4 were removed last year), leaving me with just the 6 in the front. I had no real pain, just some aching for a few days.
A week later on the 3rd of March I had 10 bottom teeth removed including lower canines this time, with alveoloplasty, leaving me with just the central 4 (that can be saved). Same as the top I just had some aching for a few days.
In 11 days time on the 28th of March I will have the remaining top 6 removed (so I will be left with no original top teeth) and a full upper immediate denture fitted; and at the same time I will have a partial lower immediate denture fitted.
I'm excited and also nervous. For the first time in my life I will be able to smile with teeth showing!

I recently found your channel and need to take some time to dive in to where/how your journey began. I had full mouth extractions done October, 2021 and had 14 implant post installed and major bone reconstruction, all in the same day. Probably not my smartest move. The recovery was barbaric and the most painful experience of my life (that’s saying a lot; I’ve had 15 other surgeries, chemo and radiation!) I was completely unrecognizable for a week due to the severe swelling and bruising of my face, eyes and neck. My treatment team was top notch; I shudder to think what it would’ve been otherwise. I am still in the temporary phase and won’t receive my permanent prosthetics for a few more months. The pain, the feeling of closterphobia of having foreign things in my mouth I can’t take out myself is almost too much to bear sometimes. Eating food is hurrendous.. there is not cutting, grinding or chopping.. it’s more like an animal mashing their food leaving behind globs of unprocessed food stuck to my teeth and gums. I am frustrated and feel very defeated sometimes. Am I totally alone in this?

I told the oral surgeon I want to be out during the procedure, i want to just come in and get it done; I don’t want to be aware of anything they do 🤣
I also have an aortic aneurysm so I don’t want to put myself through that stress either…
It’s going to cost me a lot more to do it this way, but I really don’t think I can handle it under local.

I myself was awake for every one of my teeth being extracted, soft teeth runs in my Family, bad thing about me afterwards is only the top dentures would work because my lower bone structure was very thin and I’ve been without bottom teeth for the past 9 years,it’s really bad sometimes trying to eat crunchy foods, cuts my gums,I can’t afford implants so I’m kinda in a bad situation right now,I’m retired/disabled and on a fixed income so it’s not easy, you look great girl, btw,my original teeth were so bad that infections were all over my mouth,it was bad,so I kinda half smile and half laugh with only top dentures,it’ll work out someday for a full smile

I'm really glad I found your content. I had 14 teeth extracted 5 days ago. I'm extremely dental phobic, they knew this. That actual procedure was fine, I was sedated. The aftercare however has been awful. I have been in excruciating pain for days. The dentist wasn't " comfortable " prescribing more pain meds. I also have TMJ disorder which flared up as a result of the procedure and I couldn't get anything to alleviate my pain. I have regretted this decision, but I know it will be bad before it gets better. But I am so miserable. My gums are so sore and I'm so sad. I'm hoping my recovery gets better.

I’m so happy I found your channel it’s nice to have others with the some struggle. I’ve only been on Motrin for pain and it’s not pain pain it’s just achy like you described. I'm currently 25 and I've been without teeth for almost 4 years now.
I was diagnosed with aggressive periodontitis (I believe that's what its called - genetic, mother and grandmother both got it but much later in life than me) when I was 20. I had all my teeth extracted soon after. They caught it quickly, and I only experienced a bit of decay beforehand. However, I was told it was more than what it seemed. I had a few holes in my teeth that concerned me but didn't cause me pain (which is apparently even worse than experiencing pain; no pain meant my teeth were totally dead, which they found out after an x-ray).
It all happened within 6 months - I was in the process of getting basic fillings when it occurred. Right side first, then the left 6 months later. Within the 6 month wait, my teeth began to decay and I was told it would be best and more cost efficient to opt for dentures rather than trying to fix the teeth only to still ultimately have them decay. My mother tried to save hers for years and ended up getting them extracted, so I listened to my dentist - as much as I hated the news. It was one of the biggest shocks of my life.
I had my surgery shortly after that appointment, full extractions and no prior tooth loss. I wasn't prescribed medicine beforehand, already had anxiety medicine of my own. Like she said, the most painful part of the process was the shot. I was also put "to sleep" for my surgery (not really asleep, but I was given stuff that makes you not remember). However, I ended up "waking up" before the surgery was over. That was terrifying, but I didn't feel too much. It was just extremely uncomfortable.
Honestly, I'd say the worst part wasn't the surgery itself. It was after. The gauze and stitches in your mouth and looking in the mirror, feeling just awful, and being told that you can't cry and to calm down because it can worsen the bleeding and make it difficult to clot - very important to keep calm. I remained calm through everything minus the moment after I looked in that mirror after the surgery.
After everything, I was medicated. Tylenol 3 and Moltrin to be alternated ultimately, Vicodin for the first few days. They honestly barely helped after day 3 - that was the worst for me, when the swelling kicked in. I wish I would have saved the Vicodin, tbh. The swelling and massive soreness remained and didn't begin to settle until around day 5-7. It took another few months before I was able to eat without pain, too. I had to be very careful. But I did heal up (clotting wise, at least) fairly quickly.
I didn't get dentures right away, and I still don't have them today. They ended up not shaving off enough bone for my surgery, opted to keep as much as possible due to my young age, so I ultimately needed another. Dentures would have been too painful for me to wear, would cause sores all across my mouth from what my dentist told me. However, I lost my medical insurance (aged out of my dad's insurance policy with the military shortly after the surgery) and couldn't afford it on my own (would have been over 2k with being put to sleep).
It's been years, and the bottom part of my mouth has smoothed out enough on it's own now. Doesn't need surgery anymore. My top half still does, however (still just over 1k). I'd say the worst part of everything is healing up after, and should you not have teeth like me.. Feeling out of place and kinda like a freak of nature. I taught myself how to speak and how to eat certain foods over time, and people barely notice I don't have teeth. Many say I speak so normally they almost forget I dont have them. I get that double glance all the time when I go out by strangrs, which is uncomfortable, but alas. What can you do?
I'm doing my best, have been for years (I'm now a single mom on top of everything, too - had him about a year after my surgery, and he came first).
Wish me luck everyone. I hope I get teeth someday soon. 👌🏻

I had two molars pulled. One was abscessed. They must have given me at least six injections of Novocain, but it might as well been water. I could feel everything, but the dentist forged ahead. She nearly pulled me out of the chair yanking while I was yelling. It was like having Doc Holliday pull my teeth in the 1860’s, but without the laudanum. The roots broke off of one. I’ve had open heart surgery, broken bones, half a thumb bit off breaking up a dog fight…on and on. I had NEVER had pain like I felt that day. I can’t take ibuprofen or any NSAIDs due to blood thinning medication, and no opioids prescribed. In two weeks I’m having all my top teeth extracted, again with novocaine only. I finally called my primary care doc and he prescribed 1.5mg of lorazepam, as if that will have much effect on a 180 pound man! I have no choice but to go ahead - I’m risking my life with dental issues. Thanks much for the encouraging video. Been 5 days since my extractions. Had to get over 40 shots of novacaine (my body is weird and doesn't react as normal) and still felt certain parts of the extractions; but, overall, went well.
New teeth look great; but, had to take the top plate out about two hrs after extractions, once the novacaine wore off, because the back of the plate both goes too far into the back of my mouth and doesn't properly follow my ridge. Thankfully I don't tend to swell much at all and could easily get it in and out.
Got the back cut down enough where I could start wearing it without gagging. The messed up ridge line makes talking a bit more difficult (the back of my tongue dislodges the plate and I have to recreate suction) and can't really use the plate to chew because they misjudged the impressions while making them and it cuts into a boney prominence in my mouth with every bite; but, can deal with the pain enough to wear them so long as I don't talk much nor try to chew with them in.
I go in about 9 more days for actual adjustments and a reline.
Bottom fits amazingly, despite being ever so slightly loose (will be fixed during the reline). I wear it near constantly because I'm uncomfortable not doing so (have a lovely split in my gums where they had to vertically slice it to extract what remained of my lower, right canine).
Tired of soup and pudding. Have eaten ice cream a few times, but keeps getting stuck behind misaligned ridge and can't swallow it; so, have to wait for it to melt. Lol.
Did eat some vienna sausages with both plates; though, the top plate digging into the aforementioned boney prominence began to be bothersome enough that I won't be doing so again until after the adjustments and reline.
Gums never really hurt after extractions, just a few friction spots here and there. Didn't swell much at all, and what lil I did only lasted a few hrs. Overall, pleased to have taken the step, just ready to get the adjustments and reline. Would have done so already, but been busy with work.

He said my lower jaw is fine, but my top jaw I would need to have a zygomatic implants, but luckily he works with a surgeon, I can’t remember what kind it was at this time but he said that he works with someone who does them in the not too far away city for me, so he’s referring me to him and whenever I’m able to go into the consult and do the surgery and everything they will both be working together on doing the implants and then the smile creating my teeth and things. I wasn’t able to get my score checked because we only discussed my history with my medical issues and then my job bone and his recommendation of going to the other person for the implant part of it

I closely mirrored your routine. Numbed up well and extracted all uppers in one day. Went home biting gauze pad and taking 800 mg Ibuprofen. Came in 8:00 next morning for temporary uppers. Returning two weeks from now (like 4/5 weeks after upper extraction) to do the lowers. Ive had a few embarrassing encounters and a little soreness the first two weeks but the dentures initially felt huge in my mouth but feeling more normal each day. I want to speak more each day and rush me back to speaking without a lisp but with only having a dog to talk with it is taking me much longer. I anticipate feeling pretty normal in like maybe 6-8 weeks. Watch a lot of YT for help and hints. Experiment with how much adhesive to use and where to apply.

Few days ago I had the rest of my teeth pulled, upper, because I will wear dentures. I had bad experience in the past when I had a tooth pulled. The dentist was unable to pull the whole tooth out because my root was twisted. She had to contact my husband to take me immediately to an oral surgeon. The oral surgeon put me under to finish pulling my tooth. That experience caused me to have an extreme anxiety when I had other teeth pulled or an implant. After I had my two front, upper, teeth and root pulled, I felt very relaxed and had no pain until the anesthesia wore off. Later I did develop pain and took one pain pill. I took 1000 mg Tylenol the rest of the time. Now my problem is getting use to the denture. My mouth is sore from the denture. My gums finally stopped bleeding. I had an adjustment to my denture and scheduled to have another one. My dentist said it will take a couple of adjustments while my swelling goes down. The RUclips episodes has been so helpful, especially how to take care of my denture.

My dentist lets a topical on a cotton swab soak on the area about 15 minutes prior. Then injects very slowly a little at a time. That’s how it should be. No meds for anxiety or pain though I used prayers and meditation. It was so gross they said to leave denture in until next days appointment. I had them out early in the morning. But the bleeding took 11 hours to stop and dentures were loose even with swelling. So it was just a mess

First of all your dentures look awesome. This time next week , August 3, 2023, , I am having my remaining 15 teeth extracted, and the denture journey begins. I opted for temps first. After viewing many of your great videos, I am feeling more and more confident I'll get through this ok. I'm not a bleeder. Recent extractions didn't bleed at all when I got home. And three weeks later the holes have healed great. I'll be taking two Triazolam pills one hour before going in. In the past, I only took one and never remember a thing. No pain..nothing! When I woke up and I was home in bed. 6 Extractions complete. Two pills should do the trick.

Extractions were easy for me as I had sedation and it removed all pain. The worst time was the first week of recovery. Needed a week off work and proper painkillers for about a week. After that recover from the remaining discomfort was very quick. The only issue around pain came for me because I had an infection from the first procedure and the bottom implant didn't quite take and that was a painful appt. but I was very unlucky to have has either of these, so for most people it's not a particularly procedure. A large filling was far worse.

Im getting just the upper denture, I went in for the impressions today. My bottom teeth are ok somehow, but the uppers are a wreck. I dont look horrible, but there's a few missing and the pain, MY GOD THE PAIN! Basically I went the same route in my younger day as you did. Plus, back then I was working in Hollywood - where looks are everything. I did my best to keep the main front teeth looking presentable, which worked for a while. Then I started doing the drugs, mainly cocaine. Hollywood sort of drives a person to it whether you think it will or not. The upside was the coke numbed the crap outta my face so the pain was gone. But the downside is its wrecking the teeth, and now youre a coke addict. Just compounding problems now. In 2001 I decided to drop out of Hollywood and moved to GA to be closer to family and start a new life. But the teeth were going downhill. Like a dummy, I just powered through. Brushing and flossing like a madman. But it was too late. Ive had a upper tooth pulled every 3 or 4 years. Im pretty much out of teeth to chew with. Last week I decided its time. The pain those shots will cause is nothing compared to living with teeth pain for the next 30 years. Im excited to finally be out of pain and to get my beautiful smile back. Ive watched a few of your videos. Thank you for sharing your story. Its helped me mentally prepare. Thanks again.

My experience was horrendous 🥺 Now, 10 days out fr top extractions & 6 days out fr bottom extractions- they started by breaking the original plan which was to use general that way entire top & bottom could be extracted at same appt, instead w/o informing me, they decided to go w conscious sedation which does not work on combined w/ me not being able to get numb! 💔 I suffered horrendously,,, bottoms had to be done on a diff day cuz they simply couldn't proceed- 4 days later, under general, I had my bottoms done- woke crying in the worst pain possible 😭😭😭😭
Now, still crying on a daily fr the amount of pain I'm enduring on both top & bottom,,, these temp dentures are a nightmare!😢 Praying someday I'll be able to start eating even just the softest of foods- 2nd week of my wk leave, glad I extended it for an extra week (3wks) but I'm dying to get back to work- can't even stand n can hardly walk to the bathroom
Beyond weak n shaky fr starving for so long- this by far has knocked me on my back,,,, hopefully someday I'll be grateful I did this, but for now, regretting n hating it to the extreme 😭😭😭😭
Needing to get a refill of Norco took over 24hrs allowing the pain to reach 10+ 😣 not ok ☹️

i had 16 teeth pulled at once. The shot was the only thing i felt as well, once i was completely numb, i really couldnt even tell he was pulling or cutting the teeth out, nor did i know he was putting stitches on my gums.
Sadly i could only afford a temporary partial denture to cover the gap in the front, that ended up breaking in half when i dropped it, and luckily the half that covers the front still fits into my mouth and stays. Been doing that for about 6 years now. With the way the price of everything is skyrocketing, and wages are not, i will never be able to afford all on fours... :(

Having some soreness at extractions the morning after "full-mouth extractions" of my remaining natural teeth. Alternating triple-strength Advil (3 OTC easier to swallow over brand-new dentures than the 1 prescription-strength "horse pill") and extra strength Tylenol (normal OTC dosage) every 3 hours, plus 1 amoxicillin capsule with each meal (3/day). Dentist-provided gauze pads comfortable but bulky; cotton "cosmetic rounds" from dollar store much less bulky and just as effective at absorbing oozing from extraction sites. Eating very soft solids with little texture (ice cream, mashed potatoes, applesauce, yogurt, and a little oatmeal) thus far, plus liquids (water, juice, breakfast coffee). Slept without gauze in mouth but towels on pillow; drooled during the night, but no oozing onto pillow. Dentures worn continuously since yesterday's extractions; heading back to dentist just before lunchtime for fit adjustments (+ "Denture Cleaning 101" instructions). Looking forward to lunch at Culver's afterwards -- although I'll probably be having mashed potatoes and a fairly smooth soup for my lunch there.

Hey, gang. :) (And thanks again, Kristi! :)
Let me echo so many other voices here: Extraction pain wasn't that bad!
Had my uppers removed 1.5 years ago (PLUS bone grafts, sinus lifts and implants--all in one day) and was amazed at how smooth both the procedure and the recovery were. The only "stuff" I got during the process amounted to two Atavan, some nitrous and the anesthetic injections--and that was enough to let me doze off during it all!
Afterwards: Only took six of the codeine the doc prescribed (and one was for menstrual cramps! ;).
Just had my lowers removed two weeks ago (my "bottom surgery," so to speak), and it was a similar sitch--and this time I didn't even need the nitrous!
As Kristi alluded in the video, it's often the rubbing of an ill-fitting denture later down the line that causes the most "agony." But fortunately, that's relatively easy to fix.
Can't wait for your Part II video next week, Kristi!

These comments make me think my dentist did the bare minimum lol. Im 23, 6 days ago I had a full mouth extraction, I had 28 left that were all breaking apart from a genetic thing. It took them 30 minutes to do the whole procedure. No numbing gel, no pills beforehand, completely awake and conscious. After a ton of shots on the inside and outside of my gums, top and bottom they waited maybe a couple minutes before starting.Pretty sure he missed a tooth with the numbing as well and when i told them I could feel it alot hes like well its almost there and keeps cranking it. Twice he dropped a tooth in the back of my throat and I had to stop in the middle of this thing and hack the tooth out and hand it to them. Walked out covered in blood. they didnt sew my gums just gave me a few strips of gauze to bite for 45 min and sent me on my way. Fingers crossed the rest of the healing goes well. Lesson learned the hard way, find a really good dentist who actually cares because itll be a pretty rough 30 minutes if not.

I've waited several months to make the final decision to just do it and am watching everything I can to prepare. All my close ones tell me "lots of people do it, you'll be fine" . It didn't hurt except for the infected tooth which the antibiotic didn't totally kill he was able to put some super numbing medication on it and get it out after that it's pretty much just recovering from being sore from the extraction site of course you can't brush your teeth for the first couple of days as you can't remove those blood clots that form in those sockets as it's part of the healing process. But my experience only one tooth out of all 16 hurt
