      Hey, absolutely! Thank you! I am glad to see that my older videos are still relevant, even though I feel that I've improved so much since this was filmed.
      Hope you enjoy the newer, and future content as well!
      Glad to have you here, my friend.

    I agree about the stability. I've had this for a couple of years with the upgraded seat, and the kayak is pretty stable. The thing is people don't really understand how to stand up on a kayak.

    I'm going to paint the bottom with undercoating like pickup bed liner. Additional layer to scrape through before it gets to the plastic.

    Great video. My 10 year old FS 12 takes me down multiple fall rivers where butt scooting over yards of shallow gravel is common
    No Leaks. Oops except for sealed phone holder.

    Great video dude! How did you paint the kayak? Paint job is really cool! My 12t is starting to look weathered lol

      Thanks! It's funny, but just Rustoleum spraypaint just sprayed in random stripes to imitate duck camp/weeds/grass.
      It isn't great by any means and the bottom rubbed off real fast, but it looks better than lime green 😅🤣

  • @_Steve_W
    @_Steve_W 2 года назад +1

    Can you share how you mounted the handles? Most I see for sale are designed to have inside access when mounting. Thanks

    • @VictorMarines06
      @VictorMarines06 2 года назад

      If you have the same kayak, you should be able to access the inside of the kayak through the compartment in the middle. Depending on where you want to install your handles, you should also be able to move the foam inserts around to get to the spot where you are installing the handles. I recommend using the YakAttack Rigging Bullet to help you get to the screws/nuts. Look up a video and it'll all make sense.

    Maybe roughing up the keel and rhino line it? Would that work?

  • @thewestmoh
    @thewestmoh 2 года назад +1

    Hey, the published max weight is showing as 350 lbs, how do you find it after you have loaded it up? I weight 210, my dog about 70 so I am sure if it enough room weight wise. Thoughts?

    • @ckwoutdoors
      @ckwoutdoors  2 года назад

      It is not bad at all! Quite stable and handles well all loaded up!
      I think your weight plus the dog's weight combined would be totally fine in the kayak! I have heard, however, that people who weigh around that or more may find the boat a bit more unstable while standing. I weigh 175 and can stand just fine with no issues, and obviously having the motor/battery/gear loaded up is also no issue on my boat, even while standing. Just something to bear in mind

      @@ckwoutdoors Hey, Thanks. I have had a Hobie Kona for 10+ years, so understand your comments about standing from a lower butt position, that was an accurate observation, the beer belly doesn't help, but I manage for brief periods. The flat deck of the 12T should make it easier. Thanks, and great video.

    • @thewestmoh
      @thewestmoh Год назад

      So first off, apologies for the very tardy response.
      So to follow up on this, I did end up buying one and trying it. The good people at Cabela's let me return it, and if I had no dog, would have kept it.
      The issue was the dog standing at the very front or the very back. The wieght shifting would cause the bow or the stern to submerge. So the very reason why thought it might be a good choice (flatter deck lower profile) made it very unstable and flooded with dog who Iike to change position and weighs as much as he does.
      Will stick with the Hobie and Yoga mat for now :-) but other then that it was a great unit.

    Boat isn’t “welded” or glued top half to bottom, it’s roto molded in 1 piece. The seam is where 2 halves of mold were joined.

    Just curious man, if you did get that top water that’s probably my next kayak. Would you do the 10ft or 12 ft paddle?

    • @ckwoutdoors
      @ckwoutdoors  20 дней назад

      So this is a really old video, now days I'm using an Old Town Predator PDL (pedal drive) which is a 13.2 ft. I'd definitely recommend a 12ft over a 10. It's heavier, but the weight capacity and stability is way better, and it'll handle rougher conditions a lot better than a 10 foot kayak will

  • @bryanbambrick4826
    @bryanbambrick4826 Год назад

    Kayak is not welded - what you think is seam is mold parting line. This kayak is rotomolded.

  • @Manuel_Z_Kayaks
    @Manuel_Z_Kayaks Год назад

    YOUR KAYAK IS ROTO MOLDED. The "seams" are where the 2 halves of the mold meet. What you're looking at is where they cut off the excess plastic that oozed out between the molds during the process.
    You raised your seat but don't tie anything down? I learned the hard way.. you will too.
    Use contact cement to fix your for flooring.
    Those are NOT bulkheads those are floor supports.
    It's unstable and you raised the seat which triples the instability.
    Standing has nothing to do with the seat. You made the kayak top heavy by raising the seat.
    Good review but it sounds like you're trying to convince us and yourself that the seat was a good idea. I did like your other mods though.
    Good luck.... leash everything!
