    Great vid. I like that you did the mod, then actually hit the water with to show it in use. A lot of folks never show it on the 'after.' Well done!

    Great video! Also, great tip about applying (forcing) silicone into center of rivet. Very important!

    I would attach a float to your anchor rope in case you have to uncleat the line and paddle away from it for some reason and you can come back and get it. Thanks for the video I just bought a Deluxe Anchor Trolly from Yak Gear for a Ascend H10 Hybrid kayak and needed to watch this video on how to correctly install it. I'll probably watch this video a few more times.

      Thanks for the tip! I have since the video. It’s free floating on the line as well. So boats passing can see my anchor line.

    Just one thing. Theres 2 orings on the Yakgear rivets. One should come off and go in-between the pad eye and the kayak and one in-between the rivet head and pad eye.

      I contacted Yakgear before I shot the video. At that time they no longer supplied rivets, only screws. I wanted the rivets. I purchased them separately. Hence the silicone.

    Hey! Greetings from Iowa. I watched several videos tonight about the installation of the Yakgear Deluxe Anchor Trolley, and this is the best one I've seen. Your easy to follow, step by step instructions are much appreciated! I wish I could see exactly what you did towards the end of the video when you modified the caribiner to attach to your anchor - I didn't quite catch that, but nonetheless, great video, and love the background scenery when you're out on the kayak! Cheers!

      Troy Church thank you for the kind words! Much appreciated!
      As for the carabiner part. It’s quite simple actually. The ring YakGear gives you doesn’t open or close. It’s closed on all three sides. So instead of having to unravel my anchor line and feed it through that given ring I just clipped an aluminum carabiner to it. Now giving me something to open and close. My anchor line stays spooled while clipping only what I need through the carabiner. Then the given ring, carabiner and anchor line travel in unison.
      No more tangled anchor line in the kayak being it stays spooled. At least until you need more line. Then you just unspool what you need and feed it out as you would.
      Also, when it’s time to pack up and go home, you just unclip the carabiner from the given ring spool up your excess line and toss it in your crate. BOOM no more unraveling of the line and feeding it out of the ring.

    Wish I had seen this before I did my install. The yakgear video said they rivets came standard which they did not so I went out and bought rivets from the hardware store. If I do have a problem with them I suppose I will drill out to 3/8 inch hole and install well nuts.

    • @843Fishing
      @843Fishing  4 года назад

      wilsocn, honestly that’s what prompted me to shoot this video. I spoke with Yakgear and they told me they stopped sending the rivets because they found the screws to be stronger. In my opinion I disagree. Screws will wiggle loose over time, and as expensive as kayaks are I don’t want to eventually strip the screw hole out and have to drill another hole in the kayak.
      You can get the plastic rivets online. I bought mine on amazon. They worked with a standard rivet gun and they are holding up just fine in and out of both saltwater and fresh.

      Craig Baker thank you, sir! I don’t have any personal experience. But, I have heard of folks using garden stakes from Lowe’s or Home Depot. They sell them in 8ft lengths for tying larger plants to as they grow.

    To mark holes Use Fat, Round, Carpenter Pencil,(Thicker led Than normal) from home depot and sharpen with our trusty Razor Knife, Carefully till the tip is long enough to go through hole far enough to mark. You can also use a Reg pencil IF your Real Good with a Knife

      Trevor Thompson I did not find a riveter. However, I did research and found a couple helpful videos. I’ll link below.
      The silicone I used was bought at Lowe’s it’s just 100% clear silicone. Goes on white so you can see what you’re doing, then dries clear. I believe the brand was GE.

    Hey there. My last day in myrtle beach looking for a pond to catch some south carolina bass. I am down by pier 14. Any ideas ?

    • @843Fishing
      @843Fishing  5 лет назад +1

      Hey hey! Sure! Thanks for asking. Have you tried Market Common? There is a pond surrounded by public park. A bridge over the pond and a dock too. Plenty of Bass, Bream, and Catfish. Might even be a few trout left. Orvis had the pond stocked for fly fishing years back, but people were keeping them. I suggest catch and release over there though.

      @@LarryJohnson7 thanks! Also there is a pretty good pond a little further south of Market Common as well. It's behind the Lowe's Home Improvement on the corner of Hwy 17 and Hwy 544. Not real big bass there. But a bunch less than 3 lbs.

    Why do u think of placement of pulley up front (bow) now that u have had in awhile .. would u place else where or is it good?

    • @843Fishing
      @843Fishing  4 года назад

      Hey Matt, great question! I think the placement on the bow worked out perfectly. I guess I got lucky. Haha!
      As I said in the video when trying to decide I think if you went any further forward towards the bow it would put the trolley line at an awkward angle. The wife got the same trolley from me for Christmas. I’ve yet to put it on her 12T, but will be following this same process on hers.
      The only regret I had. Was tying the trolley line so tight. When the trolley line gets wet then dries repeatedly, it seemed to get even tighter. It still works well and isn’t a problem to replace going forward. What stinks about the trolley line being so tight is it is hard to set in the zig-zag clip and hard to release. And...well...the point of that clip is for quick release.

    • @MattW616
      @MattW616 4 года назад +1

      843 Fishing I sat there for over a hour trying to decide and remembered I saw a video not to pull to much tension,, I put the line in the cleat than snuggest it up and tied.. if it shrinks can always re tie .

    What size drill bits do I need to install ?

    • @843Fishing
      @843Fishing  4 года назад

      Tom Collier You will need a 3/16 drillbit for the rivets and a 3/8 drillbit for the well nuts. I also pre-drilled with a 3/16 drillbit for the screws that go in the zigzag anchor cleat.
