Have the same kayak. Bought it used and came with the trolling motor and mounted using a BKC mount that goes into the rod holders, causes much too much of a list to that side. The rear mount option is my goal as well. Looks great!
I like this guys style. Ingenuity at its finest but standard persons breakdown. If you havent.. you should make a "best kayak innovation" video comp. I'm gonna look for that now
*I bought this model for my 14 ft Jon boat. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend love it!!! It pushes my boat with ease ( 2 men 220 each). I would highly recommend this to anyone.*
Are just screws screwed into the plastic for the transom mount? Were they strong enough without a nut underneath? I saw where another guy cut a circle to get access, then sealed it back up with a piece of cutting board and sealed it with silicone. Nice job setting it up, doing mine the same way.
Best way to do it ( I'll say cheapest at least )...is to just clamp it to the side and roll. I can't believe I haven't found a single video of anyone doing that and maybe it's for fear of the pressure breaking the yak ? I can attest it wont. I have a walk thru of mine on here and am not trying to steal thunder of a great video , but for two years now on my ascend and my vibe I just clame it down to the side behind the seat and it folds over just behind it. Have my yak crate behind that. It will abstruct the opposite built in pole holder while folded up but soon as I'm on the water I reach back and flop it down and put the pole back .never had an issue of it slipping or breaking the hull. It'll squeeze it ...but it won't come close to popping it . Also love that it puts the handle kinda over my shoulder where I can reach up by my collar bone and bump it to turn it while fishing
I'm mapping this mod out for my 128x. I haven't tore down the minn kota troller yet. Do you have some more details on the control switch and box to manage the forward and reverse speeds?
I honestly have no clue man. I sold mine a couple years ago and bought a vibe seaghost......I dont think you can buy a rod holder like that but its super easy to make.
I live in west Tennessee..get your motor ...clamp to the back of the boat on the side just behind the seat ..and enjoy .I promise you 100% it's the fastest easiest way to get the motor setup .I got it where I wanted it where I could reach back and flip it up as close to the seat as possible without rubbing it and just marked that spot with a sharpie to know where to put it from then on out . Kinda put the back low in the water with the battery back there too so battery is now in the front and motor In the back and balances fine

That Kayak looks badass.
i am also impressed on how simple you made it to put a trolling motor on an ascend kayak
joseph poncik Thanks. I cant take credit for the set up. I took bits and pieces from others setups.

Thanks for posting your video. You came up with a good system. I appreciate you sharing your experience.
Nice work with the motor
sorry for that type of kayak you need to register them with the state or not I am going one but I am not well informed
This is awesome man
I'm impressed by your trolling motor set up. Do you know if there are any tutorials to walk someone through this process?

Looks great!! When you did your motor mount, what all hardware hold it on( toggle, large washer, etc)?
les skiles I just used stainless steel screws.
What kind of Velcro do you recommend for the seat relocation?
Is the angle you used for the mount 4 inch (height) by 6 inch (L)?
Did you have to cut a hole in the kayak to put washers and bolts??
If you don't want the transducer bouncing around mount it on the bottom of your yak

Are you still able to stand up and fish?
on the 7 pin connector, did you just hook up the positive and negative or did you hook up all the wires?
Is there a new version of the Ascend 12T? Also can you buy that PVC rod holder thing anywhere instead of making it? Thanks!

@@aposey22 thanks for the reply man. I am looking into a Vibe kayak myself. Specifically the Shearwater. Hope to get my hands on one!
@@TCKeating NIce....If you can, go for it. They are sick.
What model minnkota did you use?
Could you fit a second battery in there
Any chance you remember what size pvc you used on that trolling motor T unit?
Thinking of doing the same..Question: When you screw in the 2x4 Ls do you use nut/bolt or a tap type screw?
Johnny Quest Fishing I just used regular stainless steel screws.
How do the screws on the L-brackets hold up with that plastic?
They held up fine
Bro I have a kayak exactly like yours I want to put a depth finder and trail motor on it how much would you charge me to put it on I live in East tn
