1TB - Batocera Arcade Punks image - SteamDeck showcase - Wow it’s Epic!
Sorry it’s late guys but here is the first look at the 1TB Batocera image from Arcade punks, this one is a bit long so grab a cuppa and if you wish to see anything else tested like more games on specific system just let me know or a full list video.
But great Xbox emulation, ps3 emulation, ps2 emulation, switch emulation, and Wii-wiiU plus great 3ds emulation for the steamdeck I do love batocera as a front end!
What do you think guys is this something you will be add to your steamdeck?

I already have the standard version of Batocera for my Steam Deck on a 512GB Sandisk Extreme Pro micro sd. Though, this arcade punks version looks like a nice version as well.
Either way, the Batocera image makes the Steam Deck the ultimate 7 inch display Linux handheld! I left the 256GB internal Steam Deck memory as is for Emudeck, classic Windows PC games and Steam OS games. So my Steam Deck works for me like a dual boot Linux/Steam OS handheld.
I have it the same way man and totally agree the steam deck is the best all round AAA and emulation Linux handheld you can get at the moment
😎👍Batocera forever man ☺️👍
@@SonicLoveEmulation Steam Deck is number 1 in my opinion. Also, I'd say that ASUS Ally may be the second runner up as being the best 7 inch x86 handheld out there. Especially, when it is being sold directly in stores. That makes it a much bigger deal than I thought it would be!
@@fonzitheman I agree! Batocera has just become my most favorite firmware.
Going to buy a steam deck just for retro gaming, looks amazing 👏
I'm more and more tempted to get a Steam Deck.
Definitely worth it
I'd say go for it!
Worth every penny
Just get one. Have one SD card for emulation and another for Steam games. Forget about the ROG Ally. The Steam Deck rules.
I made decision get steam it’s when need test out bestbuy 1usb drive again
Can someone Update the 1TB image with an Updated Batocera Version to run on Steam Deck Oled? Would Even Pay for it!
I have not tried it sadly so am not sure
I have Batocera on a 512gb sd card on my SteamDeck also 512 GV,. Now I can only get N64, psp,ps2,ps3, switch, roms to work,. When I select NES or SNES ,MAME , sega, Atari or any others now they won’t play, I get error 256,. Can u plz help,.?? Thx in advance,.✌🏻😎
Where can i get the 1TB - Batocera Arcade cuz i own 512 gb that i purchased on aliexpress but from what i've notice that the 1tb got bunch of newer games
I need Model 2 with a few games that would be sweet
The oled version is awesome
Never could get it to work on mine...
That's such a shame man
@@SonicLoveEmulation yeah I am not sure what the issue was, but I am a big fan of Batocera either way. Still love my Steam Deck too. :)
@@damienblack1283 it's one of the best handhelds still for absolutely everything
I may have to resort to this if I can get a 512mb install!!. I am sturggling with PCSX2 on my steam deck the controls arent working through desktop mode and Game mode I have issues with shortcut keys.....really not working well so hopefully this will sort things!
wait till I do a video with GameCube, ps2, then that should help you make a decision
I tried installing it on my SSD twice and it wouldn't fit or something didn't recognise any bootable image when i put the SSD in. I wanted my 2nd steamdeck to be a dedicated 1 terabyte batocera install but gave up. Waste of time it was days of downloading extracting etc
Running Batocera fine internally from a 2TB SSD on my LCD Steam Deck.
But not a preloaded downloadable image though I mean.
Made my own build.
Downloaded v39 base image off the Batocera site.
This is the best way.
Time consuming yes but better.
Pre made images you never know what they are doing.
They may be modifying cfg files, and then when you update Batocera to the next version, it may break something.
Whats your thoughts on the battery life when using higher end system such Wii U for example would you prefer to play Zelda BOTW on emudeck as you can use the custom tpd, etc or would you rather run it on batocera ? I have both, the fan noise gets quite high when i try botw on batocera, so maybe it might ve good to run on emudeck and lower systems on batocera.
What's your thoughts?
This looks amazing, makes me want to buy a steam deck
For the price the steamdeck is unbeatable at the moment great emulation and AAA gaming
I doubt you would regret getting yourself a Steam Deck! So, many things you can do with it as far as gaming.
To expensive for me my retro emulation brothers ☺️😁
@@fonzitheman It was expensive for me as well. I had to save from paycheck to paycheck before I was able to afford mine. I could have went with the lower tier, but I really wanted the higher tier so I end up settling for the mid tier. I built up a little more funds to get the mid tier version, I was late but I got one.
@@jonathonearl482
More expensive here in AUS.
Not available locally, you can get it from some online retailers, but even then the base model ends up from $540-570 USD minimum.
I ended up paying usd $377 for the win600 3050e.
Still really more than I originally wanted to pay for a handheld.
can u plz leave the exact link
Will this work on the sticks as well, like the usb-c sticks? 🤔🤷🏾♂️
@@jqweary I have not tried it but, I should think so as long as it let's you boot in to it bios mode but it would have to be a 2tb stick or drive
I downloaded by tixati after there's to much files i extract only the winrar file then there's img i only have to write this img to my sd card using win32diskimg that's it ? What's about the other files?
Not sure I download it by torrent then just extract the file then flashed the image but it took a long time to do as in download and flash
No sound on Wii U games how I can fix it thank you
Not to sure as I did not have that problem man sorry about that I think the best thing to do is try different roms and if that dose not work there is settings for sound maybe mess around with them and try different settings
I'm having issues running the 1tb image on a Steamdeck 64gb emmc version
What issue are happening
@@SonicLoveEmulation figured it out...something in the Batocera folder of the 1tb image isn't playing well with the 64gb emmc version, not sure what it is but i just took the 512gb AP image which had a working batocera folder over to the 1tb and then it fired up ...
Great stuff. When is this available? I can only see the 512gb version on the website.
Should be there buddy
@@SonicLoveEmulation Ah, yes, thanks. Its underneath the 512gb dl!
why is mame not reading only 0.138 and how to put cheats
Not sure I will have to have a look in to it
How should I format the sd card on windows for this build so that Steam Deck can play it? I have a 1tb card on the steam deck already which I want to format for this build. Any advice? Thx.
Still trying to figure out I think it’s fat32 but can not confirm. Hopefully we can get an answer.
how do stop the games and start a new one
Should be start and select
Good video. I watched it all.
Thank you kindly Lon
Thanks! I have download the 256 GB version to install it in my 256 GB samsung sd card....but the card only have 210 usable GB. It's possible mount at PC the IMG, delete some unwanted roms, shrink partition and repack img? Thanks in advance
I would love to run one of the steamdeck arcade punks Batocera Images (fully loaded 1tb or 512gb steamdeck batocera image) but my StemDeck OLED won't run them. All I get is a distorted image when Batocera tries to boot. I am using a Sandisk Extreme 1TB microsd card.
Can it be that the OLED System is different from the old ones?
I do burn these type of pre-configured images for my raspberrypi all the time but when I try doing it for my deck oled, they never work. I tried to boot the images using Clover boot manager. I tried using balena etcher, Win32DiskImager, Raspberrypi OS to burm the images. Nothing works.
Weird right?
I don’t have the oled steam deck to check sadly but it might be because of the new coding it might be using but I would not know till I try it. But I will let you know and do a video on it when I get mine to test. And maybe keep a eye out on the arcade punks website to see if there is a update to a oled steam deck or you could google it to see if someone has done a video on it already man
@@SonicLoveEmulation I will! Thanks for the reply! 👍😊
I understand that you are showcasing your build, and I know it takes a lot of work, so my question is this, is this the build that is the downloadable image that is on the arcade punks website, or would you be kind enough to share your image? 😁🤞
There should be 3 builds to download from arcade punks website for the steamdeck
@@SonicLoveEmulation Yeah, I'm hoping to do it once and for all and go for the big one. Can I put in a 1tb card in my laptop and save it directly to that? Would I be able to, space wise, unzip it directly on the card and do everything on the card that I need to do? Thanks brother
Thanks for the video. I assume you have it on an SD card or USB hard drive. How do you boot into that OS on the steam deck? I dont have a 1 TB sd card only 256gig one so can't use that image but would like to know. :)
sd card but I had to download it to a hard-drive first then flash it to the sd card
@@SonicLoveEmulation and is there a setting in the steam deck to boot from SD card?
@@jobearesto9746 there is.
@@jobearesto9746yes. Power down, press vol- + power, hold the vol-.... you can work out the rest when you get your SD card.
The image is awesome, but my bluetooth controllers dont work in NES or Dreamcast games for some reason, maybe more i havent tried them all. It works fine in the menus, just not in games. I tried 8bitdo controllers, and xbox controllers. they all have this issue. Any ideas?
Are they any decent images for n64/dreamcast and upwards?
I tend to play just the harder to emulate on the deck snd the easier stuff on my trusty old RG351P
I did a video on the 256gb image if I remember right it have good Dreamcast and n64
So I just downloaded it used etcher to put it on my 1tb microsd card and twice near the end I keep having it fail on me. What memory cards are you using? I used the team grouo elite memory card and never had issues with it.
Please guide me
can i install steam games on the Sd card as well? or should i keep the Sd card direct for batocera? Will it mess it up if i install steam games to it while batocera is on the same sd?
Since this is a Batocera image, I should be able to use this on a windows machine yeah? Or no?
Yes you can have batocera for windows of there site and just add your own stuff but I do think arcade punks has windows images though
How do the 256 512 and 1tb compare in terms of mainstream games? I'm new into old systems emulation so haven't played the most played games of those systems, would I be fine with the 256? I would like some ps2 roms but I can get those easily to add
It'd probably take me 1-2 months to download 1tb, do you or anyone else here sell pre-imaged cards ? or willing to do so ?
impressive
It’s a great image zocker how is you foot feeling now?
@@SonicLoveEmulation 👍 better but not as goid as it should yet
Hello does this download includes rom files too ? Would this work on lenovo legion go ?
Hello thank you for the video. I have 1tb image on my pc. I use balnocera to flash sd card of 1tb. Balnocera failed 2 times do you have any solutions ? Regards
Quality
Not a bad image at all man
Which 1TB image are you using? I see they have several.
I have the 256gb image 512gb image and the 1tb image from arcade punk’s website and then I have my own 1tb batocera build I did myself and a 500gb emuDeck image I built up to
@@SonicLoveEmulation nice which one are you showing in the video.
Does it have any instructions somewhere where I can read how to download from arcade punk? What 1tb sd card to buy? What software to use to flash? Any tutorial or advice anybody who would help me? I have some respect for doing that.
Head over to there website there should be a table to click on for handheld and the steamdeck and there is a written part that tells you what you need and how to do it buddy
@@SonicLoveEmulation okay thank you
So this can go on Legion Go?
How comes this took you over a week to set up? Surely the download did not take a week, is it complicated once the downmload is finished? Thanks.
The download took about a week to download and complete the process to a hard drive then extract it the 1TB image then flash the image to Sd card all taking time due to the size
Downloading from Arcade Punks isn't a speedy affair. I used to use my GPD WIN 2 and leave it switched on 24/7 as it's so low power.
How long did it take to download it all? (Sorry if you covered that had kids screaming through some of it) and did i read it right its free…?!?!
Yes it’s free man it took little over a week to complete and set up
Wow
Epic
Thank you
How long last the battery on heavy systems emulations? At least 5 hours? And what about on SNES, MAME?
In my experience with the light stuff NES-PSX 5-6+ hours. Heavier stuff GC, PS2 ect 4+. Really heavy stuff like WII U and switch 2-3 hours, more like 2 for switch.
That’s about right also depending on brightness
All work well and Masa is about right with the battery life
@@masamasa1815 around 6 hours of PSX is awesome! Even that amount on GC/PS2. Thanks!
@@SonicLoveEmulation I'm considering to get one to focus on emulation and the "battery life per system" is a key feature for it. Huge thanks for the video, Sonic!
How do you copy the image to the SD card? Thanks.
Have to use a torrent to do it on the arcade punks website there is a how to and links
@@SonicLoveEmulation thanks found it last night. Wish arcade punks would add links where it asks to complete the steps and they go to the pages that show how, was a little confused for a bit.
Can I ask what you formatted your sd card to for steam deck? Is it the EXT4? Thanks for your response!
where to buy this exact version?
Is it problematic if you connect an xbox controller for a second player
When will all these extra emulators get added to Emudeck?
Is it possible to find these kind of images for a system like retroid pocket?
am not sure, I know you can get rom packs but for a complete image am not sure
@@SonicLoveEmulation I’ve seen something called doujishin but still as lost as an octopus in a parking lot 😂
hey great video, how do you exit the wii and wii u games?
Thank you very much, so what are you using to emulate on the steamdeck? As in batocera or emudeck?
@@SonicLoveEmulationthanks I’m using batocera. I actually figured out a work around for the wii exit alt f4. Every other system exits with escape.
Yes that’s the one, sorry about the late reply…but glad you sorted it out man
Would be awesome if it worked on iOS 🎮📲
@@jqweary there are some emulators now available for ios
@@SonicLoveEmulation yes, iOS emulation is awesome. Just don’t have these type of custom builds yet 🕹️📲
@@jqweary oh right I see it's only on windows and Linux at the moment and android but it only early days for ios emulation so soon it will have the opportunity
Bonjour top mais comment télécharger c est trop lent il y a pas moyen d accélérer le téléchargement mais top😊
It took me over a week to download ha ha
wind waker? or wind waker hd?
Both GameCube and wii u versions are on it
I don't have ps2 emulators on my copy of arcade punks...how is that?
It’s 2 versions arcade punk picture 2 are differents check
Would this run on Rog Ally?
Yes they have a windows version on there website batocera
@SonicLoveEmulation I actually just started tweaking a bit wars coinops build
It's working out great with some added emulators
Well, when it comes to handheld PC's there could be issues cause of the inbuilt controls.
So just cause its a 'windows' PC handheld doesnt mean the windows version (really X86 64) of Batocers will work..properly anyway.
Cause if you check the Batocera changelog, information for v39 it says :" Initial support for the ASUS ROG Ally"
As well as steam deck oled, and some other models.
V39 currently still in beta but if previous stable release dates are anything to go by v39 stable would be out sometime this month, at a guess.
Also, v39 has TDP settings for mobile X86 64 devices, we can adjust powermode setting also TDP setting in wattage values for Ryzen series cpu's.
Per system or game.
This will be very welcome for those using Batocera on mobile X86 64 bases handhelds.
Tested on my win600 too btw.
How to quit a game?
What game or what emulator are you using
Gamecube
@@sephiroth-k8f should be select and start
@@sephiroth-k8f failing that try holding select and a,b,x,y buttons individually
Does not work on Oled
Older versions have issueson the OLED deck.
You would best need to use v39,that should give you no issues on the OLED deck
Ofcourse you would have create your own build.
If you are looking for pre builds, well thats another issue.
What fonz said 👏
pc use ok ?
It’s not bad loads of apps to use not as good as windows but still gets you by
Cool 💩
Do I buy a 1tb sdcard or 2tb sd card for this? It is a squeeze wirh the 1tb?
1tb just fits but make sure it’s a Samsung as some cards have less storage than others
Or you can go with a drive with more storage and probably work out cheaper
