I don't like having Retroarch under SteamOS because (a) the core selection is limited and (b) having a game browser inside a game browser kills the convenience aspect. So I do emulate PS1/PS2/PS3/etc under EmuDeck but the older stuff gets put on a card with Batocera.
for standard features, yes it is the same. now if you add pads because you want to play at 2, 3 or even 8 players on ps2 pes, there are autoconfigured on batocera, if you want to view games manuals on batocera it is a simple click. you want to play lightguns with youre sinden gun or your wiimote, it works out of the box on batocera ; you want to take your card and continue the game on an other computer or play snes via the network ? want to play age of king or fpinball ? if you just compare systems by checking if you can start mario bros on both systems, yes, there are all the same 😂
Im an average gamer so I don't really take advantage of any of those but I also didnt start mario bros. Good to know that it can do it out of box though
It absolutely is. I've had issues getting emulation working properly on emudeck/retrodeck, not to mention the lack of the carbon theme on the version of emulationstation that comes with it. All your emulators and controls are already configured, it's just much easier to get into a game. It also boots faster than steamOS, even off the sd card. I would have preferred to stay in steamOS, but batocera is just a better experience if you only need emulation.
Batocera freezes during load screen, shows joystick with version under it, plays music while tryna load then freezes and screen goes black,.. Any ideas on how to fix ???
Batocera is better than Emudeck because it plays Sega Model 2 and Super Model 3. Emudeck doesn't play those emulators with going through a miniture headache.
JESUS!!! Your Hands Are Huge!! How have I never noticed or is it because I'm really tired or is it because everyone else that I have seen with there hands on the Steam Deck are really small well I'm going to have some crackers and go to sleep night night
My issue with emudeck is that their configuration limits any kind of customization i want like the lacked of shaders and custom controller mapping for each game. Batocera is a bit trickier at the start but at least it lets me fully configure my settings a bit better than emudeck.
I struggle with emulation for some reason… maybe it’s because there are so many roms and bios’s out there that finding a set that works along with a front end that’s not over complicated requires time and patience. I loaded Emudeck on the Deck but I didn’t like the continual updating or the fact it uses up hard drive space (sure it can run from an sd card but you need to do that off the bat). Batocera appealed to me because you can have it all on an sd card but I can’t get it to update… yes it downloads the latest but “reboot” doesn’t work.. for me.. also you need to transfer roms over your WiFi network which isn’t so convenient when away from your home network. Both methods suffer the same hassle in setting up roms and emulators.. some are drag and drop but things like Switch require a lot of luck ( getting the right files) and knowledge which isn’t easy to come by given the legalities of playing your Nintendo “back ups”.
You can moves roms directly to batocera with a thumb drive assuming you have a dock/hub/usbc adapter for your deck. Im moving 20gb of ps2 roms to mine with a dock right now. Seems like just buying a usbc thumb drive or A to C adapter would fixx that problem for you.
It is awesome! My only issue is when I play gamecube, the character constantly spins. Everything points to right stick drift but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to adjust the dead zone. Anyone know how?
For some reason I cannot map the hotkey to my Bluetooth controller. It is really really bugging me. So when I'm docked to my TV I cannot save or change games without getting up and touching the steam deck. How do I solve this? Thanks.
@@deality I can't remember I was trying to get WiiU running or something. I think the moral of the story is, start from scratch and do 1 game at a time, instead of downloading a dump of rubbish that you have to configure everything anyway.
Batocera or EmuDeck both are great 👌🤘

Batocera supports also natively sinden lightgun too.
Does EmuDeck support lightgun?
@aaaaaaaaaaron92 there is the Linux application that's in beta
Did you buy a special build of that?

Do model 2 Sega Rally and Top Skater arcades work on Steam deck with Batocera?

Cant figure out how use steam deck shortcuts on emudeck. Can i use shortcuts on batocera? I mean those back buttons to open emulation menu etc?
You gotta select button that acts as a hotkey then just press desired key combination
couldn't you point emudeck at the roms on the Batocera SD card?
You can have the steamdeck autoboot to the Batocera card
I was wondering this.
How?
Go into the BIOS and set the SD card first in the boot order.

Im using emudeck off sd card but yea if you're first time user it's quite a battle with sth like switch emu

Check the link they re all listed in there
Emudeck is better .Batocera dont work on dock
Im using my deck in hands only but very good point, didn't know that👍
it works on dock.

Not sure...maybe try different controller
Either you found a way to shrink the steam deck or your hands are big as fuck
I have Steam Deck Lite 😏
how to get to batocera main menu from steam deck in ps2?
map the hotkey to some key ( I put it to steam button) and then press hotkey and start wiki.batocera.org/basic_commands

Correct
Ali Express companies throw in a bunch of duplicate games to inflate the game count.
Emudeck with emulationstation already beaten batocera
It's a damn mess, there's like layers and layers of emulators on top of emulators...
Emudeck? Or batocera
