Fun fact, going from 11W to 15W get you very little FPS performance but use almost 50% more battery. Try to limit TDP to 11W and you might be surprised how well it plays
@@dawncyclist Press 3 little dots bottom right of steam deck and you can find it in the settings from there. You'll have to turn on TDP first before you can lower it. PS: I usually set in game settings to 720 and turn on FSR in the same settings as the TDP/FPS. It still makes the game look crisp and can get a little boost in performance (FPS).
This is actually so true. In most games ive played 12w seems to be the sweet balance between stable frames and battery life. It seems like pushing it to 15w hardly makes difference
I bought the steam deck June 4th, since then I’ve put 150 hours into Baldur’s gate 3. Like you said in your video, the deck has completely changed gaming for me. I feel like I’m a kid again, can’t wait to get home and play video games after a long day of work.
@@endocry I find it much more comfortable. I even recently upgraded my gaming PC and now I never use it other than multiplayer games with my friends. I would rather be in the living room with my SO watching tv and gaming. But I’ve always preferred handheld. I’ve been a huge Nintendo fan since the game boy. Prior to this, my favorite console was the 3DS.
I think an actual scientific study came out that showed that if a screen has better contrast/ colors it can look way better than a regular high def screen
Contrast affects perceived sharpness. My 1440p TN panel looks less “sharp” than my SD’s screen. You can tell the resolution is significantly lower, but subjectively it “feels” sharper.
I just recently got hollow knight on my steam deck oled and idk if it’s just me but it’s kinda confusing and I don’t really know what to do after killing the false knight.
The last Handheld I bought was the Nintendo 3DS years ago. And I never bought the Switch. I ordered an OLED Steamdeck a few days ago. I want to link it to the PlayStation 5, and emulate a lot of retro games. Thanks for the good review 👍
Honestly one of my biggest sell points with the Steam Deck in general, regardless of OLED or LCD is that you have the capabilities of running non-steam PC game files on it without even having to mod it or anything. Gotta love that!
It's a game changer. Xbox Cloud gaming is also insane. Since you're not even using the chip of your SD and basically streaming a video, you have an OLED experience with like 8-10 hours of gaming. The SD was the perfect purchase to get through chunks of my backlog this Summer.
@@Tonno7 that's bandwidth issues then. I only have that grainy 400p look when my girlfriend is streaming netflix. The better the internet, the better resolution you'll have.
The reason why the temperatures and battery life are so much better than their lcd counterparts is because of the change from 7nm to a smaller 6nm process of transistors. 6nm is much more efficient because not only is it the same tech in a smaller package, the die/cores are also smaller, meaning they produce less heat, leading to lower temps. That, and the entire mainboard and cooling system was rehauled. Smaller transistors also mean less travel times for electrons and therefore less loss of energy (stacks up over millions of transistors), leading to longer battery life. That, plus battery increasing by 50% makes for a heck of a lot more longevity in battery. Just a couple of tidbits that explain why you were getting the results you were. Nice video! Liked that you tested performance with benchmarks yet also included a lot of user experience with it.
I bought a steam deck lcd used from a used marketplace last week as a gift to myself to celebrate my son's birth. I figured it will fit my future lifestyle that you just describe, little spots of 20 mins here and there to pick up some game time. And boy was that a great decision. I'm back into gaming and like you said, it has been one of the best pieces of tech I've bought in recent memories. I'm more of an indie game player. Currently I'm playing Alba Wildlife Adventures, A Short Hike, Celeste, Mass Effect 3, Stray, and Hades.
@@Gins. Not really? Performance wise, it's been good, mostly 60fps since my games are light games. Battery wise, again, I don't even play more than an hour at any one time. So I've never had the battery drop below 50% before I dock it at the charger. I'm pretty sure oled looks nicer but without it being side by side, I'm quite fine with the lcd. It looks good.
At the end, it doesn’t matter, because you rarely have time to play in the next years - maybe 20 mins here and there but it’s hard to get the time for playing without exchanging time for friends or your wife.
I was on the fence about the SD for years and sitting on Nintendo switch waiting for a switch 2 got really old fast! So i bought a oled SD and boy this is perfection!
Bought a Oled Switch at Christmas 2023 after wanting one since it came out. Very disappointing device. A friend of mine has recently bought the Asus, I want to buy the SD OLED.
I play my PC through Moonlight in 1440p on my TV through my steam deck, sit on the sofa remote playing PS5, have been playing through Halo split screen co op with my wife through a fantastic mod and have been really enjoying having my emulation library be way more accessible on this thing. And that's all beside the vanilla steam game experience being fantastic in itself, absolutely love this thing.
I definitely know that feeling of the OLED making it feel like a higher resolution. I was certain Nintendo messed up and put a 1080p screen on the Switch OLED. It's a MASSIVE difference and makes the original feel like a child's toy.
@@zjeee I use it as a laptop replacement for gaming and studying combined. So I've had to figure out how to get some apps working so that I won't be needing a regular Windows laptop anymore. So far everything is working fine, got a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard connected for work stuff.

Imagine playing on your GameBoy at age 5. Not knowing what the future will bring. Steam Deck is a Indie Game beast. I know that you can play games like Elden. But I have a 4080 build for that. Its great being a gamer.
It looks nice but as someone that got spoiled with the aggressive pricing at 350 dollars for the LCD 64gb version back when I got it almost two years ago 550+ dollars seems a bit steep when we are talking about 5-7 extra FPS. The battery life and screen seems nice though. I would consider it if I did not have the LCD but it does not really seem like that big of an upgrade to me from the LCD considering the price increase. When we are talking that price range then yes, we will have to bring the competitors in because now we are in the same price range but worse performance. The LCD was so cheap so you kind of expected the performance to be lower.
I have had lcd model from the launch. I bought 1tb ssd and 512gb sd card for storage.. Also ptm on the cpu so temps never go above 72c. So it stays silent. And elden ring runs just fine 40fps with limited tdp.. Eldenring runs 2 hours 50min +/-10min depending where you roam in the game. I think it is smarter to just look for good settings instead of upgrading to get better screen.. Ofc new model with tinkering would be better but not worth the money thats for sure.
I got my Steam Deck LCD back in September of 2022 and couldn't be happier with it. I've modded it and upgraded the SSD and my most played game is Forza Horizon 5. I've got a total of 382 hrs and counting...i love my Steam Deck! I'll definitely be getting the Steam Deck 2 in the next 5-7 years.
I love my OLED, can’t wait for the SD2 with the performance improvements. Also with Ally X cramming in a 2x sized battery, hopefully valve takes inspiration . Can you imagine the potential battery life with a 2x larger battery and the current deck’s power efficiency 🤩
No Mans Sky, Xcom, American Trucking Simulator and Steamworld Heist are my usual go to games on my Steam Deck LCD but I think it's time to move to the SD OLED for all the reason you listed. Plus, I switched to a 34" ultrawide OLED monitor on my PC last year and absolutely love it. It's so hard to go back to an LCD display after having an OLED.
Really enjoyed your positive energy in this video! My most played game on my oled is sekiro. It runs flawlessly even on max settings, and is an absolute joy to play on the deck.
I’m still debating to pull the trigger. Despite having my main PS5 for gaming. I also have switch and a PC spec slightly better than deck. But I mainly use it for browsing only. I haven’t been touching much of indie games and bunch of retro games in pc that I just don’t feel like playing on a desktop. Kinda want to explore the indie games via deck.
@@thelegendaryqwerty Yeah I have ordered 1TB SD OLED yesterday. Now just patiently waiting for its arrival. After browsing through steam store, I can’t believe that I missed out so many great games
@@T.O.WalleeNice, enjoy it!! The indie scene on Steam is absurd, you don’t realize but 99% of the indie games on switch either released simultaneously on Steam, or came to Steam like a year beforehand. Not to mention the countless indies that just never go anywhere else. Either way, enjoy the sales, and start building up that wishlist!
How'd you get it to look not so washed out when you can't turn off HDR? That's the only reason I don't play it much, because of how bad the HDR makes it look, I got it on sale for $1.99 though
I was going to buy a used LCD 1TB local till I saw a OLED local pop up in way better condition and the seller was so cool let me go through it and all. He had upgraded the 512 SSD to 1TB so I’m super happy. The screen is amazing
I would change the reasons you have exposed for choosing the deck or other handheld pc, because with the deck you can play the same games as the others in 99% of the cases, so that can't be the point. The strong ponts of the deck are : - Best efficiency and performance at low tdp. - Best battery life because of point 1. - Best user console like experience, by far. - Best customer service. - Best price/performnace ratio. - Better screen. And the others: - More powerfull (but only at 20tdp or high, wich means 45mins to 1.30h of battery life). - More native compatibility with anticheat games because windows. - The VRR of the ally. So, only if you are seeking for the higher fps you can get, and din't care about battery life, and don't mind using windows in a hanheld, or you play mostly multiplayers with anticheat, then choose any of the others. In any other sceneario, choose the deck oled.
My 3080 PC has been collecting dust since I got my OLED. I can't wait what Valve does with future iterations. VRR, Thunderbolt 5 and of course better performance are on my wishlist.
I beat elden ring on the steamdeck as well, it just made it so much easier when i could put any time progress and it was way more fun. The oled definitely improved the couch experience
@@paolo9425 it happens sometimes if u quick shut down your steam deck couple of times. Quick solution is to exit the game to the main/starting menu and click continue. The audio issue will dissapear

great video, thanks mate, that's exactly what I needed :) and on a sidenote: the two UGREEN devices are awesome (no I don't get paid for this). I use them for about a year and they just work perfectly and also look and feel great.
Love my OLED. Bought Steam Deck LCD on day 1, and I fell in love with it so much that I knew right then that if they ever make a refresh or a Steam Deck 2, I'll buy it on launch as well. Did so with the OLED, and I can't get enough of it. It's a great device that offers a fantastic, console-like experience but also allows you to scratch that tinker itch whenever you feel like it. As for performance - I set mine up with Moonlight running from my main gaming PC, so when something doesn't work well on the SD, I can just stream it via Moonlight on that beautiful OLED screen (with full HDR support!). MoonDeck plugin lets me run games this way with just one click of a button, and it even works over the Internet - like my own, personal GeForce Now, only it's on better hardware, for free, and I can play every game I own, not just those supported by the service.
So between the steam deck and Ally which would you recommend for just a bedside game? Can't always get on my PC and while the kids are asleep, I like the idea of just pulling out one of these and playing RPGs like skyrim, pillars of eternity, or Witcher.
Honestly I completly agree with u I now got the LCD model first for a year then upgraded to the oled and noticed the weight and longer power cord better case the list goes on and on and I play alot of games on my deck that are unsupported with little ease great video man i still love my steamdeck to this day
It does have hdr which you mentioned, which really sucks in some cases, like certain games where you can't turn off hdr and it just makes the picture look bad, like the Witcher 3

I‘m struggling what to get… either the legion go with bazzite OS or the steamdeck… i love the OS from steam and wondering if bazzite and legion go is better …
To add to the other content, yeah, it’s about what games you play. If you primarily play multiplayer games with anticheat, like Fortnite, CoD, or Destiny, then go with the Legion since those games aren’t compatible with Linux. If you primarily play AA games, older AAA’s, indies, or emulate, go with the Deck, as you’ll get far more battery life when playing less demanding titles than the competition does. Keep in mind that AAA’s can be played on both. The Legion will perform better, but at a fraction of the battery life, so it depends on what you prioritize. Some extra things to keep in mind: I wouldn’t recommend the Legion unless you’re okay being tethered to a wall most of the time. Windows is quite a bit rougher than SteamOS on a handheld. I’d recommend always having a keyboard/mouse nearby. The lack of trackpads may make some of your library incompatible with the Legion. At least in handheld mode. No quick resume on the Legion. By that I mean you can’t turn off the system and open it back up in the same spot seamlessly. Not a dealbreaker, but something to keep in mind.
this was great. thanks man! awesome review style. definitely getting myself one now for christmas. was looking at gaming laptop deals and i realized i totally dont need ANOTHER computer for a couple hundred more bucks. i just wanna play my steam games (since tons cant play on my macbook air lol). deck will be a good in between before i just got some beast of a gaming desktop. whenever that may be.
I love how Elden Ring and the Steam Deck are basically synonymous with each other. I don’t think I’ve seen a single Steam Deck review / discussion video that doesn’t include ER gameplay. I’m currently in the process of getting a job. First thing I’m saving up to buy: a Steam Deck, a copy of Elden Ring, and SotE. So I can finally be a part of the experience I didn’t get to feel included in two years ago.
Got myself an OLED a few days ago, and i am glad i didn't go for the LCD as my friend recommended since she said the differences were minimal. Sure there might be others that are better by now, but I was kinda curious of the Steam OS and didn't really wanted another Windows device, nothing against windows, but some recent features are just annoying. But what sold me the most was Valves Cooperation with iFixit. I love to repair my stuff myself, and knowing that i can get new spare parts easy is a huge plus for me. I rarely heard anything like that from the other devices. I kinda hate it to send my devices to the seller or producer and to wait two or more weeks to get it repaired, just because i can't get the parts anywhere or only dodgy part from shady sellers that might break again but faster. If you buy it can repair it yourself, you should at least have the possibilities to do so.
@@rob_oddI wouldn’t be surprised, Valve said that wouldn’t make a Deck 2 unless there were serious improvements that could be made, so it’ll be a while.
I real reason I chose the steamdeck over it's competitors is due to the ease of game streaming from my desktop. I've always run into connection and latency issues when streaming from windows, but steamOS fixes all those problems and makes the experience seamless.
is what it is. is not bad is not perfect, but 1 hour is enought to made some progress, and if you are traveling i sugest to have a Power bank or plug it on the plane or bus whatever is better.
I think one thing that gives the OLED its longevity is the capability to stream HDR on the screen, basically the added benefit of a PS Portal that runs HDR streaming from PS, Xbox, or PC. This reason alone disregards the machines limitation when its hardware can't run the latest game. I just finished part of FF16 and Stellar blade on the steam deck. Mind you, you will need a pretty fast wifi connection.
When I first made the switch to an OLED display (LG C2) obviously i was taken aback by the perfect blacks, but as I continue to use it, the contrast in the midrange of colors is what truely makes the display standout compared to LCD's
On the original steam deck I mainly played modded minecraft, Bo3 zombies, 7 days to die and Yu Gi Oh games the games ran fine and I am excited for the OLED to come in since battery life will be upgraded plus I will have better performance specially since I also play borderlands 2 and 3 on the steam deck Now I'm typing this I might make a performance gameplay video test for cod zombies/my reaction to the OLED I also bought the Switch OLED and that also performs better then the normal switch from what I noticed when I play Dying light on the switch:]
I was on the fence with getting the steam deck oled or LCD. I have been watching lots of videos and been watching some of your content too. I went to the plunge on Sunday and ordered myself a steam deck OLED. Not owned one before or owned a gaming PC. So I’m so looking forward to trying to steam deck out.
@@sam.alexander.reviews hi Sam and I got my steam deck on Thursday. Playing Red Dead 2 portably is a dream for me. I’ve been researching this system recently to see if it’s for me or not. Do the games run off WiFi or are they downloaded to the system?
Looking at getting either a SD OLED or ROG Ally X. I lean more towards AAA type games than indie, travel a ton and dont want to purchase a new device next year. Thoughts?
I'm in the same spot. I like the ease of user experience with SD OLED. Ally X is better future proof for sure, nice to have GamePass as an option too. I'm torn between the two, not sure which to buy either.
I absolutely adore they took the amazingness of the first version and pretty much improved every facet of it. I was kinda flip flopping between both choices but I remember enjoying the screen of the Switch OLED so happily. Most companies would have just slapped the screen on it, but the battery life, apu refinement, fans, wifi, ssd, ram, and so much in the matter of upgrades is great lol. I'm ordering on Sunday after I finish reading Tsukihime on my Switch lmao
10:53 i would only partially agree, because majority of indie games still have FPS tied to the speed of the game, thus these games won't support refreshrate above 60, which sucks.
I got my new Steam deck OLED and since then I can't connect to my wifi, I also read on the internet that I am not the only one with this problem,... just that you are also informed about it. I have not yet been able to find a solution to the problem. It also bugs around a lot more than my old LCD. Maybe I was just unlucky but still, I'm apparently not the only one
How good is the software in the rog ally and the legion go compared to the steam deck? I know the compatibility in the steam deck with the steam library is excellent for a large amount of games, but I have no idea how good it is for the other consoles
Technically the LG and AX have more power but the SD is so optimised that its just better. Not to mention it being like 400$ cheaper than those devices.
I currently have an Xbox Series X but I'm considering getting one of these for basically one game being American Truck Simulator since it's not available on console. I'd just connect it to my Samsung 4k tv with my keyboard and mouse plus my Xbox controller and I'd be happy.
Broo steam deck is that good that you wouldn’t remember your life before the steam deck believe me (is that good that you will keep watching videos about the steam deck with your steam deck) is so cool 😎

Such solid videos man. Really want to pick up the OLED model but my LCD is treating me just fine and I’m just holding out for the full version 2 even if that’s a few years away still. 30 hours on Hollow Knight is my longest game so far, but once I pick up Stardew Valley I’m sure that’ll take the cake haha
I'm saving for the OLED version. Maybe the new version comes out before I get money. Also main reason I want SD is linux, and it just seems way more quality than other attempts.
I upgraded my oled steam deck from 512 to 1tb just fine but I tried to put my ssd from my oled into my lcd it did not go well rip to my lcd deck I had the 64 gig model
Did they fix the wifi 6 connectivity issue in the OLED model? I bought one a few months ago and returned it because it would not connect to my ASUS wifi 6 router at all. Tons of forums on the issue. I’d like to try it again if they have fixed the connectivity
Currently my most played Steam Deck games are Inscryption, Ghost of Tsushima (which can very easily be tweaked to reach a stable 60fps on the OLED and still looks phenomenal), Elden Ring, Borderlands 2, and recently RDR2
I got the lcd recently bc it was getting discontinued and was on sale. I really love it, but i wish you could wake the docked deck from sleep using a controller. I heard the oled model can do it, and im really jealous lol
and battery life is still relative right? so sure you could increase the LCD's battery life by adjusting settings but you can ALSO increase the OLED's battery life by doing the same things, so in your test of one hour compared to 2 hours, if you adjusted settings on both devices you might go from 2 hours compared to 4 hours, its awesome! love the deck, great video
I went for a LCD recently. I managed to pick one up for £200 so for that price the OLED just was too much extra to justify. I love it and it fits perfect for me. Currently playing Spyro trilogy on it and it’s so addictive playing it handheld maxed out at 60. I think platformers on it will be my crux
Great breakdown man! I just bought the 1tb OLED and am wondering if I will regret the etched glass. I keep hearing differing opinions but have yet to see a really good test on contrast/color when putting a gloss screen protector on the etched glass. Thoughts?
I had both, tried and tested both. Trust me, 1Tb screen is superior. Better colors of OLED on the cheaper one is a myth, but the difference between seeing own face while playing on the cheaper one and not on 1Tb is huge. And that is how you will experience it, not how a guy on you tube video will check how a light ray will reflect on it from 1m.
Bought the steam deck immediately when it came first out (LCD). Play mostly older games like Tombraider and Mass Effect. So no problem what so ever. Even play first Doom and Heretic which play great. Got the OLED version also immediately when it came out. Great console. Hogwarts Legacy plays great on it. Playing Tomb Raider remastered at the moment. Use to play on Atari Lynx and a Playstation Portable which was great also. Plays great too. Thanks for this review.
You know, for 3 years, the Steam Deck 64GB original, upgraded to a 2TB NVME, was my go to hand held for gaming. The power port began to fail on it then, forcing me to either send it off for a referb, or to buy a new machine. Last month, I bought an Asus Rog Ally Z1 Extreme. I thought, well, I have tried the Steam Deck. Why not try the Ally? My Steam Deck is now in the cupboard. For thing's like RPCS3, the Z1 Extreme is a much more powerful system. I imagine that the Steam Deck 2 will be comparable to the Z1 Extreme, when it is released in about 2026. If you think about it, there are only so many upgrades that Valve can make, and most of them are already visible on the Z1 Extreme.
I don’t know what you are talking about, i can play my lcd anywhere for around 5 hours off of a 160$ power station. Not to mention how amazing the original is at emulating.
How can we check the performance of the game that played on steamdeck? Do i need to check a youtube video or is the a software/web that can check it for us?
I got the original at launch, then upgraded to the OLED at its launch, and I gotta say… it was worth it. And not just for the screen, the biggest upgrade for me is the battery life. It’s obscene lol, I can get literally 12 hours out of retro games. Here’s a quick breakdown of my experience, and keep in mind that this is without tweaking: Fallout NV: 4 hours -> 6-7 hours Witcher 3: 2:45 -> 3:30-4 hours Most indies: 4-5 hours -> 6-7 hours. Sometimes 8-9 depending on the game. DS emulation: 4 hours -> 7 hours You get the idea. I now don’t even worry about battery life, I’ll play for an hour or two before bed, sleep, leave the Deck on my bedside table, then maybe pick it up the next day to play a bit, put it down, play later that night, all without charging a single time. It’s absurd. Also I didn’t include it in the list, but GBC emulation gets me up to 12. I was playing Pokemon Prism, a rom hack, and saw that it would last 12 hours. Blew my mind. Even with heavy tweaking through powertools, the lcd would cap out at like 10. Also, not to drag this out any longer, but the biggest deal for me was the extra hour or two out of AAA’s. On my lcd Deck I never really bothered with AAA’s unless I was near an outlet, and at that point it just felt like I should be playing on my desktop. It didn’t feel portable, and I knew if I booted it up it would drain my battery life, giving me way less time to play later on. But the extra hour or two gave me enough wiggle room to where I find myself actually playing these games and not being overly worried about battery life. I actually did all of the side content in Marvel’s Spider-man on my Deck while on a plane, and it was fantastic.

Nice video! Liked that you tested performance with benchmarks yet also included a lot of user experience with it.
awesome insightful comment! thank you for that
and i'm glad you appreciate both the personal experience and the performance tests
love engineering majors. thank you for the explanation!
Do you regret not getting the OLED model at all?
@@Gins.
I loved Alba. Thought it was super charming. Hope you had fun with it, too!
You should really try out Prince of persia the lost crown and little nightmares
I was on the fence about the SD for years and sitting on Nintendo switch waiting for a switch 2 got really old fast! So i bought a oled SD and boy this is perfection!
I did the same thing 😂 and I’m not gonna go back to Nintendo this is the ultimate handheld 😂
@@Talon18136Same, I almost feel bad, I haven’t touched my Switch since getting a Deck
Bought a Oled Switch at Christmas 2023 after wanting one since it came out. Very disappointing device.
A friend of mine has recently bought the Asus, I want to buy the SD OLED.
Just did the same thing yesterday 😂
You've convinced me. Ordering one in time for my birthday.
happy birthday brother ✨
Happy birthday, enjoy it!
Switch is 720p, Steam Deck OLED is 800p same as LCD. 800p is the same quality as 720p. They are just different aspect ratios.
The long hair really works for you. Rock it man
🥲 thank you so much for this
I got mine less then a week ago. I love it, and it's fun to have a reason to learn some basic Linux stuff when in desktop mode.
I haven't been in Desktop mode since the first day I got it and installed drivers/updates lol, almost forgot it had one.
@@zjeee I use it as a laptop replacement for gaming and studying combined. So I've had to figure out how to get some apps working so that I won't be needing a regular Windows laptop anymore. So far everything is working fine, got a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard connected for work stuff.
@@Daviscowwow your comment is pushing me more and more to get a steam deck. OLED + desktop mode is convincing enough
@@zjeeeI pretty much only use it for Emudeck, which is literally just a download and install. So I haven’t really messed with linux in any meaningful way.
QQ
OLED is definitely more of a luxury purchase and not a necessity. I think the LCD does its job very well and is nowhere near obsolete
I copped the 256gb LCD for $160 and getting a battery pack basically solved the shorter runtime for me.
@@jer4rud0 160?! Deal of the century right there lol.
So excited to get a steam deck! Love your reviews and recommendations
Can you imagine the potential battery life with a 2x larger battery and the current deck’s power efficiency 🤩
duuuuuude cant wait
It’s possible because 100wh is the largest battery allowed on planes so it’s the cap for portable devices. 🤞
50x2 🤩
Actually x looks wired when it's close to 700g
By that time SD2 will cost like $700-800
The price of the Ally X 🤢🤢
No Mans Sky, Xcom, American Trucking Simulator and Steamworld Heist are my usual go to games on my Steam Deck LCD but I think it's time to move to the SD OLED for all the reason you listed. Plus, I switched to a 34" ultrawide OLED monitor on my PC last year and absolutely love it. It's so hard to go back to an LCD display after having an OLED.
Really enjoyed your positive energy in this video! My most played game on my oled is sekiro. It runs flawlessly even on max settings, and is an absolute joy to play on the deck.
ohhh i haven't played sekiro but i'm planning on getting to it someday, heard good things

Either way, enjoy the sales, and start building up that wishlist!
Completely agree with you, i got the oled for specifically emulation and indie games, its incredible, for big titles i still use my PC
00:51 I'd classify the ps4 slim as an iteration rather than a mid-gen refresh. The Ps4 Pro was the true mid-gen refresh.
Been playing The Witcher 3 on my OLED Steamdeck and WOW does it run and look great!!

The strong ponts of the deck are :
- Best efficiency and performance at low tdp.
- Best battery life because of point 1.
- Best user console like experience, by far.
- Best customer service.
- Best price/performnace ratio.
- Better screen.
And the others:
- More powerfull (but only at 20tdp or high, wich means 45mins to 1.30h of battery life).
Bro out here looking like NicePool and giving out a steam deck review. Love it
My 3080 PC has been collecting dust since I got my OLED. I can't wait what Valve does with future iterations. VRR, Thunderbolt 5 and of course better performance are on my wishlist.
Moonlight will probably blow some new life into your PC :) I use it together with my steam deck and it's absolutely lovely.
I beat elden ring on the steamdeck as well, it just made it so much easier when i could put any time progress and it was way more fun. The oled definitely improved the couch experience

great video, thanks mate, that's exactly what I needed :) and on a sidenote: the two UGREEN devices are awesome (no I don't get paid for this).
What do you think about the OLED technology having no vrr? I don't think it's much of a problem since v-sync doesn't affect performance as much.
Placid plastic duck simulator was like that for me had to change the launch script to turn hdr off
@@Talon18136 I wish I was technically advanced enough to know how to do things like that, the games a great game but it's very hard to make it look good

i haven't played the other 2, but i play RDR2 on my steam deck almost everyday and it runs great, mix of low and medium settings, locked 45 FPS
Mad Max runs great on Deck LCD even. Hitman 1 (and MGSV) work well on Deck LCD too. So I’m willing to bet all these work great on Deck OLED.

I'm a noob when it comes to technology and want to decide which deck should I buy.
Also do you think they might do a deck sale over the black Friday?
I want a steam deck so bad but I play games like warzone, R6, helldivers, etc would you recommend the steam deck for these games or something else?
if those are your main games i'd go with the legion go or the ROG ally X

A big ol soft box
I‘m struggling what to get… either the legion go with bazzite OS or the steamdeck… i love the OS from steam and wondering if bazzite and legion go is better …
I'd say it depends on what games you wanna play. Certain games don't run without tinkering or are completely unsupported on Linux
Some extra things to keep in mind:
I wouldn’t recommend the Legion unless you’re okay being tethered to a wall most of the time.
So I can finally be a part of the experience I didn’t get to feel included in two years ago.
good luck with the process!! Just ordered a steam deck and I’m hyped for it
Got myself an OLED a few days ago, and i am glad i didn't go for the LCD as my friend recommended since she said the differences were minimal.
If you buy it can repair it yourself, you should at least have the possibilities to do so.
it is. I didn't get an oled but I've had none of the issues people talk about with the LCD I love it. thinking of buying a second one.
At this point I'm just waiting for the next release but man it's so hard to avoid the temptation to buy one now😅
From what I read the Steam Deck 2 will not be released before 2026. I don't want to wait that long.^^'
@@rob_oddI wouldn’t be surprised, Valve said that wouldn’t make a Deck 2 unless there were serious improvements that could be made, so it’ll be a while.
I real reason I chose the steamdeck over it's competitors is due to the ease of game streaming from my desktop. I've always run into connection and latency issues when streaming from windows, but steamOS fixes all those problems and makes the experience seamless.
i love to buy steam deck, but its still not yet available in my country,i end up bought Rog Ally and Lenovo legion go
is what it is. is not bad is not perfect, but 1 hour is enought to made some progress, and if you are traveling i sugest to have a Power bank or plug it on the plane or bus whatever is better.
Would you still Pick up a Steam Deck, if it’s for games like wow and gw2?
When I first made the switch to an OLED display (LG C2) obviously i was taken aback by the perfect blacks, but as I continue to use it, the contrast in the midrange of colors is what truely makes the display standout compared to LCD's
Another note on the screen is motion resolution. 90hz oled will have sharper motion and therefore higher perceived res and sharpness
On the original steam deck I mainly played modded minecraft, Bo3 zombies, 7 days to die and Yu Gi Oh games the games ran fine and I am excited for the OLED to come in since battery life will be upgraded plus I will have better performance specially since I also play borderlands 2 and 3 on the steam deck Now I'm typing this I might make a performance gameplay video test for cod zombies/my reaction to the OLED
I also bought the Switch OLED and that also performs better then the normal switch from what I noticed when I play Dying light on the switch:]

I got my new Steam deck OLED and since then I can't connect to my wifi, I also read on the internet that I am not the only one with this problem,... just that you are also informed about it. Incredible review. Very thanks.
How good is the software in the rog ally and the legion go compared to the steam deck? I know the compatibility in the steam deck with the steam library is excellent for a large amount of games, but I have no idea how good it is for the other consoles
The UX on steam deck is insanely good, makes it worth it despite the lower performance

For the size of this it's amazing I think 👍👍👍 it runs games nicely
Yeah oled can😂😢
The lcd can to but you need a plugin from decky loader
and battery life is still relative right? so sure you could increase the LCD's battery life by adjusting settings but you can ALSO increase the OLED's battery life by doing the same things, so in your test of one hour compared to 2 hours, if you adjusted settings on both devices you might go from 2 hours compared to 4 hours, its awesome! love the deck, great video
@@przemysawjodczyk4307 stoked to hear it I just got mine and honestly love the screen, no need to trip for anyone else wondering!
Not to mention how amazing the original is at emulating.
non topic related question: Intro Song?
gonna get one soon lets goo
How can we check the performance of the game that played on steamdeck? Do i need to check a youtube video or is the a software/web that can check it for us?
this was the channel that at first convinced me about the steam deck and now you might convince me about the OLED lol
I got the original at launch, then upgraded to the OLED at its launch, and I gotta say… it was worth it.
And not just for the screen, the biggest upgrade for me is the battery life. It’s obscene lol, I can get literally 12 hours out of retro games. Here’s a quick breakdown of my experience, and keep in mind that this is without tweaking:
Fallout NV: 4 hours -> 6-7 hours
Witcher 3: 2:45 -> 3:30-4 hours
Most indies: 4-5 hours -> 6-7 hours. Sometimes 8-9 depending on the game.
DS emulation: 4 hours -> 7 hours
You get the idea.
I’m a big fan of Point & Click type games and NBA 2K games. That’s about all I play. I’m so glad to hear 2K is FINALLY next Gen on PC!
