One of things I most appreciate is that CC sees value in horses that are essentially over looked. Scarlet is maturing into a very nice filly. Whether $50 or $50,000 she is proof positive that there are potentially nice horses out there hiding in plain sight that don't cost a fortune. Look at Ziggy..he may be older but there's a lot of life and good riding left in him after reconditioning. Of couse you need to know what to look for but you don't have to pay a premium price to get a good horse.

    • @kathawenzel8033
      @kathawenzel8033 Месяц назад +3

Totally agree! Also I´m one of those "not horse persons", because every time I got in touch with them, they felt like really boring to me and I couldn´t get a connection really. But with the boys from CC, I LOVE THEIR personalities! I love to watch those videos because I can see their twerks and quirks and goofs and grumps. I mean Skelly sometimes behaves more like a dog to me, Nigel has this pure grumpy old men soul and so on. They stand out for me because all of them are kinda special in their ways. If I was a horse person, I rather would buy one of those kind of guys/girls then the perfect bred and shiny ones.

Folks who use ad-blockers and want to support CC (and others) might consider paying for RUclips's "premium". Every time a premium subscriber watches a video, RUclips pays the content provider directly (to compensate for the loss of income from ads). Greys have a 75% chance for cancer . . . most people don't want to deal with the health complications and potentially having to put the horse down early. Also grey horses continue to grey, so they end up completely "white" which most people don't like either. The pretty dappling usually only lasts a few years.

Thumbs up everyone! Terrific journey through, CC, this very high priced horse auction. All of the horses looked to be in great shape. I cannot fathom riding/steering a horse around in circles repeatedly as the rider did who held out her arms. I thought the horse would get dizzy and wondered what horses think of humans encourgaging horses to engage/perform such antics.
Well, your horses are picture perfect. So glad to see Ziggy with the other horses. And thank you for showing their names intially. Ziggy, Pete, Prim, and Nigel stand out due to their size/coloring.
Another great video. Cheers from balmy New England.

It's funny because you're right that little girl knew how to ride and had the horse she was showing do some pretty neat maneuvers but from the point of view of an english style rider she looked as if she was about to fall every time the horse stopped. And the next rider if I had been hunched over like that my instructor would have had a fit and told me I was riding like a toad on top of a tiny matchbox :p
Different looks for different riding styles obviously.

I paid $150. for my first horse in 1961, when I was 12yo. At that time a 50lb bale of timothy was 35 cents. The most I ever spent on a horse was 4K in 1977. He was an OTTB that was started as a Hunter/Jumper and became my first serious Event horse. After that I was breeding TBs and TB crosses, so I competed on my home bred horses. Some years later I realized that it makes a lot more sense to buy unstarted two and three-year-olds. Breeding, raising, training and then selling a horse for 10K - you lose money on that deal, and you don’t know exactly what kind of horse you’re going to get until you’ve trained it. Even knowing the bloodlines isn’t a sure bet that you’ll get the horse you want.

depends on the market, where I live you can get an auction horse for a couple hundred bucks, train it up to sent for finishing and people will pay a good 15k+ for them. Heck even dead-broke kids ponies are almost 10k now. Draft crosses and mules are trendy right now, so breeding them is getting more popular

I’m still reeling from the distress over Skeletor and his possible genetic condition. When you mentioned it might lead to euthanasia, I got all teared up. Me too. They have not the love or CC's patience nor the skilled insight. To address the quirks of each fancy horse you will need your.
kidneys will ( need both ) as time goes on.
My precious course ground school instructor said many times " i may not have the caliber of horses i want. But these are what i have. I have schooled each one. They are gentle and not anxious.
I respected her outlook. She was not a show off. Just the opposite. Her horses were beautifully cared for, fed according to their needs nutritionally, trimmed every 6 weeks, vetted regularly. She noticed the small things about each horse that needed attention.
She made her own training gear and taught her students how to make halters and longlines. When i made mistakes she was patient with our knots and we backed out of the mistakes to start over. I still have the rope halters and long lines. Learning the skills gave all of us a sense of accomplishment.
Sarah trained with Ned Leigh. A well known man from AZ . He moved to Ok. A few years ago.
He has the luxury of lake water there.
Something we all miss in the high desert plains. ❤

I’m not a horse person and I hope you can answer my question. Many of these ,well most of them, sold for well over what the average person could afford. And no one needs to justify on how they spend their money in my opinion. What confuses me is why so many of the geldings sold for so high. They can’t be bred (unless there’s a process that I’ve never heard of). Mares at least can be bred if the owner wanted. There are hundreds of horses that could be trained to the level of skill that these were, that have the same sweet kind temperament and that are just as beautiful. Maybe it’s just me but I’m having a really hard time wrapping my head around these prices and maybe I’m just cheap. Well I am and I’ll admit it…lol. Do people take out loans for the purchase of horses like these?
