- Frank calls it "Basil Rag". He transcribed this piece by ear and transposed it into A-flat (originally in B-flat and E-flat). As he explains at the beginning, it is assumed that Henry Mancini composed the tune originally, for he is the only composer credited in the movie.
You can visit Frank's RUclips channel where he plays this (and other things) on his home piano: / kingporter1

...Just wow. I had always hoped that I would get to hear the ragtime piece from the bar scene separate from the movies soundtrack, and here it is! Thank you so much for posting this.
Oh my GOSH! I loved this ragtime as a child! Thank you sooooo much for transcribing this so I can listen to this separate from the movie! Haha, this brings back so many memories.
Someone should play this song on the Rag Time piano at Disneyland.
Raptormon OneThreeTwo - I simply agree, because the tune of this song sounds like one of the classic piano melodies at Disneyland etc.
I've never been more happy with a subscription to any youtube channel. Highest of honors goes to you, Keeper1st
You... just post the most awesome things. Serious thanks to Mr. LiVolsi for transcribing and playing this for us!
Very cool. I can see that seedy bar and all those mice playing cards.
Beautiful! I enjoyed it very much. Good job Frank with transcribing.
I love this guy. He seems like a really chill awesome dude.
I remember this as a kid =]
Nice!!!!
This is wonderful.
@pirukatz Actually there's no song in this video. There is, however, a rag. But his introduction is interesting.
The piano sounds so good!!
Great stuff.
fantastic! I am probably not the first to say so, but if you were to transcribe sheet music for this, not only would quite a few people be appreciative, but probably quite a few would be happy to pay for it. (myself included.)
thanks!!!
Didnt he also do Fievel Goes West?
1:12 to the song.

Definitely sounds like a Mancini composition.
Hi there,
I have loved listening to this piano tune since I was a little kid, because it certainly did remind me of some very intense childhood memories that I had ever experienced in my life. So, is there a way I can even learn how to play this song on the piano? I am also wondering if there is any piano sheet music for this song as an option or not. Good job by the way!
Frank learned it by ear. He has not written it down.
1:12 to GET ON WITH THE SHOW! (semantics)

Played very well, however the piano is HORRIBLY out of tune
You've no idea what a truly out-of-tune piano sounds like, then! At this festival the pianos are tuned once or twice per day to keep them in decent shape given all the abuse they get.
@@Keeper1st Emm, I do have an idea. I am a musician myself. This particular piano has a horrible sound and out of tune.
