Personally, I was always expecting not to get Gen 5 remakes until after we get Gen 10 DLC. Notice how we didn’t get OR/AS until Gen 6 inatead of Gen 5 and BD/SP in Gen 8 rather than 7? The pattern seems to be remaking games in the Gen that’s double their own

@DDKoD For me, the pattern seems to be "a new console". Gen 1 got remade in GBA. Gen 2 wouldn't get a remake until the Nintendo DS released. Gen 3 would wait until the 3DS, skipping Gen 5 completely. Gen 4 and Let's Go only happened after the Switch, in the next Console jump. So it would mean we would only theoretically get remakes when the Switch 2 gets released.
BDSP ruined everything. ORAS excluded some content and Masada had the audacity to claim that very little would benefit from the Battle Fromtier, yet he failed to fully explain why Emerald content aren’t present. No remake surpassed HGSS, which honestly set the bar.
No Pokémon game period has surpassed HGSS nothing has even come close. The battle frontier missing and replaced with the lazy, copy-pasted battle maison was a giant slap to the face. The battle frontier was basically your endgame for all of Pokémon, it actually had a purpose and it was great fun for those in deep endgame with only pvp battles to look forward to.

@@BillSchrader thank you. I played all remakes and I can tell you that I had FUN with HGSS. They hold up to this day because they improved the mistakes from the original source. And if the level curve was an issue, there’s this thing called a lucky egg. Use it. I know I did and that’s just a lame excuse to hate the remakes.
Fire Red came out in 2004. Gold and Silver remakes came out in 2009. Ruby and Sapphire remakes came out in 2014. BDSP came out in 2021. There are at least 5 years in between all of the remakes you guys need to chill

@@stathisconstantinou I'm thinking that Legends Arceus might have eaten into the sales of BDSP because of how it released only a few short months after BDSP did. And Legends Arceus wound up being what I consider one of the only few good pokemon games to release on the switch.
Look oras was faithful, but it still had differences to the original game (the delta episode, wally's final fight, the rival getting closure in a final battle, the national dex being before the elite 4, legendary encounters after the national dex, elite 4 rematches that get mega evolution, latios and latias being gift pokemon, improvements from later gens at the cost of lowered difficulty and a so much more. I liked them, but i get why a lot of people didn't.
my wish: a pokemon game where you can travel between regions and choose your favourite. All pokemon would be available and you could visit all islands including the orange islands from the anime.

Your japanese Gen 1 info isn't correct. It started with Pocket Monsters Red/Aka and Green/Midori, then Game Freak made an updated version, that fixed many of the glitches and made completely new sprites, Pocket Monsters Blue/Ao The north american versions of red and blue are based on japanese blue. In other words, there is a third set of japanese only Gen 1 sprites. Some of them are more acurate to the original concept art, than the "updated" Blue sprites.
Lol Blue was not just a changed name. Blue was an updated version from red and green including updated sprites. Our red isnt even the same red that came out in Japan. Essentially, NA recieved the updated versions, and not the originals. Japan got Red and Green. Then the updated blue. Then the yellow version. NA skipped Red and Green. Got the updated Blue version as both Red and Blue. Then Yellow version.
TBH, I just want an anthology collection that ports the entire franchise to one console, with trading between generations EASY and straightforward. I don’t need graphical updates, half of the charm of the older games was the creativity in the sprites. IMO, Pokemon as a franchise benefits from the legacy of its catalog more than any other franchise. I love playing through different points in the franchise to see how mechanics have changed as well as endured from earlier entries. I agree with this video’s take that remakes will struggle on the grounds that Pokémon’s underlying battle mechanics have largely stabilized, meaning that there isn’t really much to “remaster”. As for BDSP, my disappointment stems from deeper than the fact that it was a 1:1 remake from a story perspective. It was also a 1:1 remake from a BUG perspective. There were numerous bugs present in BDSP from DP that were originally patched out for the release of Platinum. That’s when I knew it was actually an incredibly lazy, uninspired remake without soul, pride, or passion for craft.
As someone who started out on Gen 1, and then missed out on the subsequent generations for one reason or another, I missed out on a lot of Pokemon. When Lets Go came to Switch, it was like revisiting an old friend, so I was willing to cut it a lot of slack. When BDSP came out, it was the closest thing to a new experience in a long time, and starting to catch the fun that I had missed out on, so again I cut the games some slack. Scarlet and Violet just felt like it was meant for a more powerful system than the Switch could give. I passed on the DLC, because the base game just didn't feel finished to begin with. I'm hoping that by the time that they are ready for Gen 10, they give that pair the time and care that it needs to really shine.
BDSP were boring, and i think gen 5 is the first gen that can be considered "mechanically modern" because of sturdy and weather mechanics. i honestly don't think gen 5 or newer need remakes.
Let's get a new Pokemon game with the original graphics just adding all the updated features like the special physical typing, abilities, mega evolutions, ect. And either adding in all the previous gens of pokemon or maybe create an new generation separate from the main games of pokemon. You could also make the new generation of pokemon look like or be spinoffs of the original pokemon. Idk just throwing out some ideas

There are a slew of BDSP ROM hacks that modify or change quite a bit. I'm sure there's a hack that doesn't do any rebalancing or add anything besides the Platinum content at this point.

The reason we don’t have Gen 5 remakes is because they only do them with every even numbered generation, Gen 2: Remakes: Gen 4 Gen 3 Remakes: Gen 6 Gen 4 Remakes: Gen 8 Gen 1 is an exception cause it would be weird to immediately remake them. Gen 5 remakes are coming out with Gen 10
Someone else pointed it out and I think their theory fits better. each new "console" gets a remake. FR-LG - GBA HG-SS - NDS ORAS - 3DS BDSP - Switch Generational number thing is just coincidence imo. We may get BW remakes on the "Switch 2" but it won't be to align w Gen 10's number, it'll be cause Gen 10 is likely gonna be released on the new Nintendo console.

I do not think remakes are over, they know people are willing to pay in order to play legitimately the older games in the current system, either connecting them to home or battle in them. If they see "Pokémon" on it, people will buy it, their brand its already too established. I have known people with Switch that bough S/V and they say "omg, a Pokémon can walk with me, its open world" and do not pay attention to the graphics nor optimization. I think Legends series serve to tell a side story of the already happened events in the region, to have another point of view. They release BDSP in preparation to PLA, to get people know what happened in the original DP, same thing can happen to PLZA, releasing XY in sort of a way in preparation of it. My guess is that PLZA is going to be released in late 2025, and in Pokémon Day 2025 they will tell that XY is coming to switch in some way in order to compensate the wait. They did not release any game this 2024 which is good for more polished products, but they need to make money too in order to compensate this drought year. And no, the Pokémon card game coming this October is not a money printer for most fans...
Genius thing is, game freak could also make multiple fully fleshed out legends games for one region, take alola for example, one game could be a more traditional new story while another could be a totally wild ultra space thing. For kalos, they have the lumiose city thing they’re doing now, and they could have one to flesh out team flare.
I think whether Black and White remakes come out or not is irrelevant. I think the remakes' status as the main side attraction attraction is done with. Legends will probably take that spot and be the one with the cutting edge graphics. If Black and Whote remakes do come out, they probably will be chibi like Lets Go and BDSP since remakes will probably have less importance in the overall direction of TPC. An afterthought even.
A flaw of this Video's conclusion is BDSP remakes were not made by Gamefreek, they were made by a 3rd party studio. So little to no resources were drawn away from the main games. I suspect the remakes will continue because while they sell less, they are relatively cheap to make due to shorter production times and still sell ridiculous amounts, only slightly less then Legends Arceus. With longer mainline production times, the remakes will be perfect ways to fill in gaps in releases, especially if they outsource them to 3rd party studios to work on. Remakes are here to stay, even if they are less frequent. I just hope they take the best version of the past games (platinum, Emerald etc) and base the remake on those and add some new features and post game content to them.

Pretty much. Bumping old gen to current standards takes more time/staff/money each new gen raising the bar and the impact is less because older gens are already pretty much fine with less room to improve. Gen 1 and 2 were heavily held back by hardware and remaking 3 to current standards proved a lot of work. BDSP tried a cheaper approach and it was not popular.
15:00 Locations should get bigger in the remakes, making "each remake a larger and harder project", but GameFreak seems to be following the LoZ recipe: the new games look more and more realistic, while the 2D games & their remakes are made in the Chibi style. We might see a chibi Unova if it's ever remade.
Here's my take on it- Pokemon games were always these little indie-style pixel games on small little handhelds with not much grand scale nor complexity, to be enjoyed by all ages. However, as soon as the Switch era came about, and both home and handheld consoles merged, Pokemon, more specifically GameFreak, was suddenly expected to pump out massive, vast, AAA titles far outclassing their usual area of expertise. Which is why, since the Switch era of Pokemon started, things have not been following the usual patterns and trends as they have previously. Firstly, Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee released, which was very clearly meant to be a cash grab due to its nostalgia factor, being set in the Kanto, and its interconnectivity with Pokemon Go, which was raking in cash like nothing at the time. Excusing Pokemon Let's Go, the next mainline games to be released were Pokemon Sword and Shield, which did sell amazingly well, but were hated on by almost the entirety of the Pokemon fandom, and critics alike, for being lazy, unoriginal and boring. However, Pokemon SwSh were the first mainline games to include paid DLC, namely the Crown Tundra and Isle Of Armor. These two DLCs were actually pretty good, and GameFreak tested the waters with them, seeing if a more open style of gameplay would work well with traditional players. They then produced BDSP and Legends: Arceus, and even though both sold well, one of those games went down as among the greats, which the other was known to be particularly lazy and a carbon copy of the original. After testing the waters even further by creating fully open zones in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, GameFreak was confident enough to put out a fully open world game which was Scarlet and Violet. After Scarlet and Violet got paid DLC too, GaneFreak announced that a new game, set in past Kalos, called Pokemon Legends: Z will be released after a year of no Pokemon mainline release. This decision stood out for multiple reasons, like how they broke their pattern of releasing remakes in the order the generations were introduced, and how they always worked toward releasing 1 game a year atleast. My way of seeing this is that GameFreak is slowly and steadily undergoing a metamorphosis, by recruiting multiple new employees, slowly making their games more open and grander in scale, and taking large enough gaps between game releases. The break in patterns is due to them taking risks, risks which are long overdue for a franchise as big as Pokemon. To ensure quality control after the disastrous launch of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet(which are some of my favourite Pokemon games of all time, but buggy as hell), while also trying to figure out a new remake formula, much of which is talked about in the video. I frankly don't think traditional remakes are going anywhere, and it's better that they stay, but expecting more 'faithful' remakes should be something the fans must expect, as GameFreak also wants to put out games that are fresh and innovative. They had ILCA make BDSP because they wanted to give fans their traditional remakes, but also wanted to focus on a new take on those old games. I disagree with the video creator on that I do think there will be remakes that come out for Black And White, Black And White 2 and X And Y, but GameFreak might sit on those for a while until the divisive graphical fidelity of Nintendo consoles allows them to make those games. I also feel like we will revisit Johto eventually, be it a Legends game or some other way. I feel that the Legends title is more for GameFreak having new takes on older generations, focusing more on world building, but not a replacement for traditional remakes, as they can't really have newer generations missing out on classics such as those older games. Sure, they might be tricky to figure out, but knowing GameFreak, they'll find a way for sure.
i think remakes might still be possible if gamefreak thinks ahead, such as making the scarlet violet textures at a higher res and downscaling them for the switch.

Ideally they should rotate new gen, legends and remake games so they all have longer development cycles. I think Hilda represents a problem for gen 5 remakes as well.
Interesting. My theory is that TPC was going to release BDSP as any ordinary remake using the latest graphics like with Oras just out of pattern. But they came up with the Legends Arceus, and the company to choose whoch to put their resources into and they took a gamble and chose Legends. And for Bdsp they basically gave it, Let's Go treatment, an okay but forgettable side game. If Legends became a distaster at least they would have money from BDSP. But it turned out to be a major success. And now they fully want to milk this success. But why? Probably because TPC has less interested in trying to bring back the past and instead trying to find ways to master the modern open world game market. Diamond and Pearl is pretty outdated in terms of design. I think fans focused a lot more on BDSP than what TPC did, who probably thought it just an onligation to get over with so they can move on to the more ambitious projects.

BDSP was a bit of a weird game to remake they didn’t really need it, all the game boy games suffered from being old and mechanics not being introduced so it made sense to remake them. BDSP and any future remakes would be money grabs
What killed remakes? Multiple things. 1. Accessibility of older pokemon in newer games. 2. The battle system being mastered in gen 4. 3. Reduced development leeway.

While I'm not COMPLETELY convinced we won't see remakes anymore I'm not complaining if we don't and the legends series replaces them.... barring kanto *(since I'm not convinced a legends game would work if I recall the lore correctly)* Granted, in gen 5's case I'm not seeing the typical remakes for them. So either "B/W 3" (soft title) or hyper focus on a legends game
I think there might be more…… just not at the moment. It does seem that GAMEFREAK learned their lesson and decided to slow down a bit and take their time with their projects and such.
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl were great remakes and i enjoyed them way more than the gen 3 remakes because they were faithful rather than being like the gen 3 remakes which were more or less like playing X & Y with a hoenn skin on it and i'm glad the gen 4 remakes didn't make me feel like i was playing Sword & Shield but in the sinnoh region......i don't plan of getting Legends Z-A because i really disliked Legends Arceus and if Z-A is anything like Arceus then i won't enjoy it either (if Legend games end up replacing faithful remakes or remakes in general then i think i'll just keep getting the new gen games only until they become as uninteresting as the anime has become since the end of gen 5's anime which doesn't seem too far off since gen 9 sucked so bad with the exception of a few things that made it just barely enjoyable enough to warrant me not selling my scarlet copy to Gamestop) as of right now my biggest hope is that gen 10 will be the next gen 4 or the next gen 5 or the next gen 6 in terms of greatness
I completely agree with you the BDSP remakes were better than the ORAS remakes because BDSP really felt like gen 4 brought to the Nintendo Switch rather than a gen 4 add-on to gen 8 and i'm glad to see that i'm not the only fan who dislikes the Pokemon Legends games in fact i still consider buying Legends Arceus to be one of the biggest wastes of money in my gaming career right next to buying the Lets Go games

If Nintendo hired me to remake pokémon games the first thing I would do is add Steelix to the game. I would also add something similar to the mystery dungeon games as trading to evolve pokémon can sometimes go wrong like the tradee running away with your prized pokemon
I agree. The best example is that Alpha Sapphire which doesn't contain Steelix unless traded hence why I despise that game however I traded with myself to get Steelix. The part where you trade evolve pokémon is also the part where they run afterwards
No, the reason we got Blue is because Green was a very buggy game with ugly sprites. Blue was the 3rd version that was magazine exclusive in Japan. They just gave us that version instead of the inferior Green game.
Why can't we just get a Pokémon game where (in comparison to Elder Scrolls Online) you could travel to any of the known regions and catch any and all Pokémon in the planet. All while playing it online. I'd call it Pokémon World Online. Yet we never get to see this idea brought to life despite me being the only one talking about it. So far, lots of people have challenged this and say that this is bad idea. But what do you think?
Every pokemon remake was just bringing a old game into the current gen art style, maybe changing a few things then adding content. Gen 1 to 3, gen 2 to 4, gen 3 to 6. And then bdsp ruined it granted adapting that to sword and shield style probably would of been even worse. Its jsut so sad becuase the remakes are considered some of the best games ORAS and HGSS espeically

While I don't hate the idea of remakes being a thing.... as it stands I'm not complaining if the legends series just replaced them. Almost every poketuber gave the games grief and I don't recall it being popular unless MAYBE we're referring to the pokemon go crowd... *(still felt hit or miss there as well)* Granted, the games are/were beautiful but considering that there was only one "high point" I can't imagine enjoying them myself. I'll acknowledge that the concept of the "spirit of pokemon" does at least shine there. But not enough to make for/overlook the short comings

Not disagreeing with your opinion on the games, but I haven't been a child legally in 14 years(a child of the target demo for the game even longer) and I've never once played Pokemon Go, so take my agreement for what it's worth.
I blame bdsp. If pokemon remakes moving forward were going to be THIS faithful to the point of adding back wrinkles that were ironed over in platinum, I can accept never revisiting a region ever again for atleast another decade
I think Pokemon Scarlet and Violet where poorly done because of remakes being made around the same time, if they stopped with remakes they can put more work into their next gens of Pokemon. With newer Pokemon games getting into the 3D range and being more complexes means you have to put more work into the game which takes years to do, so if they get rid of remakes they can put more work into the next gens so they don’t end up bad like Scarlet and Violet. Also I am sick and tire of the Kanto region which has been done 4 or 6 times already.
I hate gen 5, most of the designs of gen 5 where terrible I only liked 5 Pokemon out of that 150 designs, gen 5 was the worst gen in my opinion. I only liked Serperior, Galvantula, Elektross, Scolipede and Liepard the rest where bad designs. Gen 9 despite being glitchy had the best Pokemon designs, a hundred good designs, so many good designs while Gen 5 has over a hundred bad designs, a garbage bag, a chandelier, a pile of gears and a ice cream cone such bad designs for the 5th generation I did not like one bit.
But what if...We re-make classic pokemon games just not with all their content saving time and money. We market it then as a complete package in trailers. We then sell it, fans are gonna moan but they'll buy because its Pokemon. Everyone loves Pokemon. We get people used to these lazy re-makes and their expectations for the newer mainline games will drop as well, saving us time and money which would otherwise be wasted putting in an effort. So we release the new games lacking in content even compared to the gameboy, DS, 3DS versions and buggy as hell, fans moan but they'll still buy em cause its Pokemon. Everyone loves Pokemon. Then we release dlc, that is also buggy as hell and costs nearly as much as a new game. Oh and never patch or fix anything cause that'll save us time and money as well. Fans will moan, but still buy the dlcs because its more pokemon. Everyone loves Pokemon. With our commitment to shoddy buggy workmanship and content cutting, we should be on track to churn out a mediocre pokemon experience once a year from now until time stops and continue raking in a proft whilst doing so. That's the gamefreak/nintendo way...and people will continue loving dat Pokemon.
This may be a hot take, but NO, BDSP did NOT improve the graphics from the original game This is a problem I see with the gaming community where they think 3D is automatically better than 2D What makes a game good graphically is the artistic style and how well implemented it is into the game The original Diamond & Pearl, with all their technical problems, had a cohesive art style, the 2d elements combined pretty smoothly with the 3D elements, it was COHESIVE. And that chibi style worked for 2D characters BDSP, not only does it have average 3D graphics, but the artstyle is awful. A bunch of trees that look exactly the same worked for Diamond and Pearl, but it looks god awful in BDSP. Also you have toy trees but realistic water? That has no cohesion whatsoever. Also following Pokemon look awful too But hey, lets say BDSP is better than Diamond & Pearl graphically, in a literal sense. Even then, Diamond & Pearl at least looked like games from the year they were released, BDSP looks like a game that woulda been released for mobile 4 years before. The reason why I like Hoenn it's because it's the most "adventure" feeling Pokemon game, it's atmosphere is just so unique and it's music is so charming with it's Trumpets and French Horns mixed with some NES sounds

We need 1:1 remakes like BDSP because Diamond and Pearl aren't available for any current consoles. They're not made for fans of the originals, they're made for people who have never got a chance to play them and want to play them on the Switch. Also, GameFreak didn't even make BDSP themselves, they outsourced it to another game dev company. None of GameFreak's own employees worked on it.

I disagree with your remakes don't need to be made because there is nothing to modernize take. BDSP should have used eitherSword & Shields or Lets Go Pikachu/Eevee models and style to remake the game instead of the chibi art style. However I think remakes and/or resisting old regions will always needed because they're will always be people who didn't get to experience those regions and stories when they were originally released. Like I would genuinely enjoy a Sun & Moon game in the Gen 8 or Gen 9 style for the sole purpose of playing them with my wife who didn't lile Pokémon back when the 3DS was a thing.

Pokemon remakes are a way for newer fans to see older regions with fresh eyes and modern mechanics. BDSP are the latest remakes and due to me never playing Kanto Johto Hoeen or Sinnoh untill they fot remakes in 3d i still haven't played Johto but i have played the others and BDSP was fine as a fresh experience. Oh and we are most likely getting b/w remakes in gen 10 due to the whole remake the game in even numbered gen alao know as the remake a game the same gen a new one comes out that matchs that gens number. E.g. gen 2 remakes came out in gen four and gen 4 remakes came out in gen 8 that is a pattern we can follow to determine that it is too early for a new one wait a few more years for gen 10 then we shall see if I was right or wrong but i feel like irs going to be right. Personally, I was always expecting not to get Gen 5 remakes until after we get Gen 10 DLC. Notice how we didn’t get OR/AS until Gen 6 inatead of Gen 5 and BD/SP in Gen 8 rather than 7? The pattern seems to be remaking games in the Gen that’s double their own

BDSP ruined everything. ORAS excluded some content and Masada had the audacity to claim that very little would benefit from the Battle Fromtier, yet he failed to fully explain why Emerald content aren’t present. No remake surpassed HGSS, which honestly set the bar.
No Pokémon game period has surpassed HGSS nothing has even come close. The battle frontier missing and replaced with the lazy, copy-pasted battle maison was a giant slap to the face. The battle frontier was basically your endgame for all of Pokémon, it actually had a purpose and it was great fun for those in deep endgame with only pvp battles to look forward to.

Fire Red came out in 2004. Gold and Silver remakes came out in 2009. Ruby and Sapphire remakes came out in 2014. BDSP came out in 2021.

Look oras was faithful, but it still had differences to the original game (the delta episode, wally's final fight, the rival getting closure in a final battle, the national dex being before the elite 4, legendary encounters after the national dex, elite 4 rematches that get mega evolution, latios and latias being gift pokemon, improvements from later gens at the cost of lowered difficulty and a so much more. I liked them, but i get why a lot of people didn't.

It started with Pocket Monsters Red/Aka and Green/Midori, then Game Freak made an updated version, that fixed many of the glitches and made completely new sprites, Pocket Monsters Blue/Ao
The north american versions of red and blue are based on japanese blue.
In other words, there is a third set of japanese only Gen 1 sprites. Some of them are more acurate to the original concept art, than the "updated" Blue sprites.

TBH, I just want an anthology collection that ports the entire franchise to one console, with trading between generations EASY and straightforward.
I don’t need graphical updates, half of the charm of the older games was the creativity in the sprites.
IMO, Pokemon as a franchise benefits from the legacy of its catalog more than any other franchise. I love playing through different points in the franchise to see how mechanics have changed as well as endured from earlier entries.
I agree with this video’s take that remakes will struggle on the grounds that Pokémon’s underlying battle mechanics have largely stabilized, meaning that there isn’t really much to “remaster”.
As for BDSP, my disappointment stems from deeper than the fact that it was a 1:1 remake from a story perspective. It was also a 1:1 remake from a BUG perspective. There were numerous bugs present in BDSP from DP that were originally patched out for the release of Platinum. That’s when I knew it was actually an incredibly lazy, uninspired remake without soul, pride, or passion for craft.
As someone who started out on Gen 1, and then missed out on the subsequent generations for one reason or another, I missed out on a lot of Pokemon. When Lets Go came to Switch, it was like revisiting an old friend, so I was willing to cut it a lot of slack. When BDSP came out, it was the closest thing to a new experience in a long time, and starting to catch the fun that I had missed out on, so again I cut the games some slack. Scarlet and Violet just felt like it was meant for a more powerful system than the Switch could give. I passed on the DLC, because the base game just didn't feel finished to begin with. I'm hoping that by the time that they are ready for Gen 10, they give that pair the time and care that it needs to really shine.

Let's get a new Pokemon game with the original graphics just adding all the updated features like the special physical typing, abilities, mega evolutions, ect. And either adding in all the previous gens of pokemon or maybe create an new generation separate from the main games of pokemon. I do not think remakes are over, they know people are willing to pay in order to play legitimately the older games in the current system, either connecting them to home or battle in them. If they see "Pokémon" on it, people will buy it, their brand its already too established. I have known people with Switch that bough S/V and they say "omg, a Pokémon can walk with me, its open world" and do not pay attention to the graphics nor optimization.
I think Legends series serve to tell a side story of the already happened events in the region, to have another point of view. They release BDSP in preparation to PLA, to get people know what happened in the original DP, same thing can happen to PLZA, releasing XY in sort of a way in preparation of it. My guess is that PLZA is going to be released in late 2025, and in Pokémon Day 2025 they will tell that XY is coming to switch in some way in order to compensate the wait. They did not release any game this 2024 which is good for more polished products, but they need to make money too in order to compensate this drought year.
And no, the Pokémon card game coming this October is not a money printer for most fans...
Genius thing is, game freak could also make multiple fully fleshed out legends games for one region, take alola for example, one game could be a more traditional new story while another could be a totally wild ultra space thing. For kalos, they have the lumiose city thing they’re doing now, and they could have one to flesh out team flare.
I think whether Black and White remakes come out or not is irrelevant.
I think the remakes' status as the main side attraction attraction is done with. Legends will probably take that spot and be the one with the cutting edge graphics.
If Black and Whote remakes do come out, they probably will be chibi like Lets Go and BDSP since remakes will probably have less importance in the overall direction of TPC. An afterthought even.
A flaw of this Video's conclusion is BDSP remakes were not made by Gamefreek, they were made by a 3rd party studio. So little to no resources were drawn away from the main games.
I suspect the remakes will continue because while they sell less, they are relatively cheap to make due to shorter production times and still sell ridiculous amounts, only slightly less then Legends Arceus. With longer mainline production times, the remakes will be perfect ways to fill in gaps in releases, especially if they outsource them to 3rd party studios to work on.
Remakes are here to stay, even if they are less frequent. I just hope they take the best version of the past games (platinum, Emerald etc) and base the remake on those and add some new features and post game content to them.

Bumping old gen to current standards takes more time/staff/money each new gen raising the bar and the impact is less because older gens are already pretty much fine with less room to improve. Gen 1 and 2 were heavily held back by hardware and remaking 3 to current standards proved a lot of work. BDSP tried a cheaper approach and it was not popular.
15:00 Locations should get bigger in the remakes, making "each remake a larger and harder project", but GameFreak seems to be following the LoZ recipe: the new games look more and more realistic, while the 2D games & their remakes are made in the Chibi style. We might see a chibi Unova if it's ever remade.
Here's my take on it-
Pokemon games were always these little indie-style pixel games on small little handhelds with not much grand scale nor complexity, to be enjoyed by all ages. However, as soon as the Switch era came about, and both home and handheld consoles merged, Pokemon, more specifically GameFreak, was suddenly expected to pump out massive, vast, AAA titles far outclassing their usual area of expertise. Which is why, since the Switch era of Pokemon started, things have not been following the usual patterns and trends as they have previously. Firstly, Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee released, which was very clearly meant to be a cash grab due to its nostalgia factor, being set in the Kanto, and its interconnectivity with Pokemon Go, which was raking in cash like nothing at the time. Excusing Pokemon Let's Go, the next mainline games to be released were Pokemon Sword and Shield, which did sell amazingly well, but were hated on by almost the entirety of the Pokemon fandom, and critics alike, for being lazy, unoriginal and boring. However, Pokemon SwSh were the first mainline games to include paid DLC, namely the Crown Tundra and Isle Of Armor. These two DLCs were actually pretty good, and GameFreak tested the waters with them, seeing if a more open style of gameplay would work well with traditional players. They then produced BDSP and Legends: Arceus, and even though both sold well, one of those games went down as among the greats, which the other was known to be particularly lazy and a carbon copy of the original. After testing the waters even further by creating fully open zones in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, GameFreak was confident enough to put out a fully open world game which was Scarlet and Violet. After Scarlet and Violet got paid DLC too, GaneFreak announced that a new game, set in past Kalos, called Pokemon Legends: Z will be released after a year of no Pokemon mainline release. This decision stood out for multiple reasons, like how they broke their pattern of releasing remakes in the order the generations were introduced, and how they always worked toward releasing 1 game a year atleast.

My way of seeing this is that GameFreak is slowly and steadily undergoing a metamorphosis, by recruiting multiple new employees, slowly making their games more open and grander in scale, and taking large enough gaps between game releases. The break in patterns is due to them taking risks, risks which are long overdue for a franchise as big as Pokemon. To ensure quality control after the disastrous launch of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet(which are some of my favourite Pokemon games of all time, but buggy as hell), while also trying to figure out a new remake formula, much of which is talked about in the video. I frankly don't think traditional remakes are going anywhere, and it's better that they stay, but expecting more 'faithful' remakes should be something the fans must expect, as GameFreak also wants to put out games that are fresh and innovative. They had ILCA make BDSP because they wanted to give fans their traditional remakes, but also wanted to focus on a new take on those old games. I disagree with the video creator on that I do think there will be remakes that come out for Black And White, Black And White 2 and X And Y, but GameFreak might sit on those for a while until the divisive graphical fidelity of Nintendo consoles allows them to make those games. I also feel like we will revisit Johto eventually, be it a Legends game or some other way. I feel that the Legends title is more for GameFreak having new takes on older generations, focusing more on world building, but not a replacement for traditional remakes, as they can't really have newer generations missing out on classics such as those older games. i think remakes might still be possible if gamefreak thinks ahead, such as making the scarlet violet textures at a higher res and downscaling them for the switch.
They release remakes per every new console. FRLG for GameBoy Advance, HGSS for DS, ORAS for 3DS, BDSP for Switch, etc.

I am a big fan of Unova and bought Switch hoping for the remake. But if they want to do a remake, i hope it does not look like gen 4 remakes...
Ideally they should rotate new gen, legends and remake games so they all have longer development cycles.
I think Hilda represents a problem for gen 5 remakes as well.

My theory is that TPC was going to release BDSP as any ordinary remake using the latest graphics like with Oras just out of pattern.
But they came up with the Legends Arceus, and the company to choose whoch to put their resources into and they took a gamble and chose Legends. And for Bdsp they basically gave it, Let's Go treatment, an okay but forgettable side game.
If Legends became a distaster at least they would have money from BDSP. But it turned out to be a major success. And now they fully want to milk this success.
But why? Probably because TPC has less interested in trying to bring back the past and instead trying to find ways to master the modern open world game market. Diamond and Pearl is pretty outdated in terms of design.
I think fans focused a lot more on BDSP than what TPC did, who probably thought it just an onligation to get over with so they can move on to the more ambitious projects.

Remakes = newest Gen / 2
Example Heartgold Soul silver out after gen 4 because 4 divided 2 is 2 (remake gen 2)
ORAS out after gen 6 because Remake gen 3 = gen 6 divided 2
BDSP out after gen 8 because Remake gen 4 = gen 8 divided 2
Using this pattern it means that Gen 5 remakes only happened after gen 10 is released
FireRed/LeafGreen on GBA, HGSS on NDS, ORAS on 3DS, BDSP on Switch.
GF did 1 console 1 remake for decades.

BDSP was a bit of a weird game to remake they didn’t really need it, all the game boy games suffered from being old and mechanics not being introduced so it made sense to remake them. BDSP and any future remakes would be money grabs
What killed remakes? Multiple things.
1. Accessibility of older pokemon in newer games.
2. The battle system being mastered in gen 4.
3. Reduced development leeway.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl were great remakes and i enjoyed them way more than the gen 3 remakes because they were faithful rather than being like the gen 3 remakes which were more or less like playing X & Y with a hoenn skin on it and i'm glad the gen 4 remakes didn't make me feel like i was playing Sword & Shield but in the sinnoh region......i don't plan of getting Legends Z-A because i really disliked Legends Arceus and if Z-A is anything like Arceus then i won't enjoy it either (if Legend games end up replacing faithful remakes or remakes in general then i think i'll just keep getting the new gen games only until they become as uninteresting as the anime has become since the end of gen 5's anime which doesn't seem too far off since gen 9 sucked so bad with the exception of a few things that made it just barely enjoyable enough to warrant me not selling my scarlet copy to Gamestop) as of right now my biggest hope is that gen 10 will be the next gen 4 or the next gen 5 or the next gen 6 in terms of greatness
I completely agree with you the BDSP remakes were better than the ORAS remakes because BDSP really felt like gen 4 brought to the Nintendo Switch rather than a gen 4 add-on to gen 8 and i'm glad to see that i'm not the only fan who dislikes the Pokemon Legends games in fact i still consider buying Legends Arceus to be one of the biggest wastes of money in my gaming career right next to buying the Lets Go games

If Nintendo hired me to remake pokémon games the first thing I would do is add Steelix to the game. I would also add something similar to the mystery dungeon games as trading to evolve pokémon can sometimes go wrong like the tradee running away with your prized pokemon

I agree. The best example is that Alpha Sapphire which doesn't contain Steelix unless traded hence why I despise that game however I traded with myself to get Steelix. The part where you trade evolve pokémon is also the part where they run afterwards

No, the reason we got Blue is because Green was a very buggy game with ugly sprites. Blue was the 3rd version that was magazine exclusive in Japan. They just gave us that version instead of the inferior Green game.

Why can't we just get a Pokémon game where (in comparison to Elder Scrolls Online) you could travel to any of the known regions and catch any and all Pokémon in the planet. All while playing it online. I'd call it Pokémon World Online. Yet we never get to see this idea brought to life despite me being the only one talking about it. So far, lots of people have challenged this and say that this is bad idea. But what do you think?

My first pokemon generation was gen 5
Every pokemon remake was just bringing a old game into the current gen art style, maybe changing a few things then adding content. Gen 1 to 3, gen 2 to 4, gen 3 to 6. And then bdsp ruined it granted adapting that to sword and shield style probably would of been even worse. Its jsut so sad becuase the remakes are considered some of the best games ORAS and HGSS espeically

I dislike how you can't battle wild pokemon in Let's Go Pikatchu and Eevee and thats why I have never finished playing those games.
I think Pokemon Scarlet and Violet where poorly done because of remakes being made around the same time, if they stopped with remakes they can put more work into their next gens of Pokemon. With newer Pokemon games getting into the 3D range and being more complexes means you have to put more work into the game which takes years to do, so if they get rid of remakes they can put more work into the next gens so they don’t end up bad like Scarlet and Violet. Also I am sick and tire of the Kanto region which has been done 4 or 6 times already.
I hate gen 5, most of the designs of gen 5 where terrible I only liked 5 Pokemon out of that 150 designs, gen 5 was the worst gen in my opinion. I only liked Serperior, Galvantula, Elektross, Scolipede and Liepard the rest where bad designs. Gen 9 despite being glitchy had the best Pokemon designs, a hundred good designs, so many good designs while Gen 5 has over a hundred bad designs, a garbage bag, a chandelier, a pile of gears and a ice cream cone such bad designs for the 5th generation I did not like one bit.
I want to avoid the Gen 5 remake because all the Pokemon designs in that game were terrible.

But what if...We re-make classic pokemon games just not with all their content saving time and money. We market it then as a complete package in trailers. We then sell it, fans are gonna moan but they'll buy because its Pokemon. Everyone loves Pokemon. We get people used to these lazy re-makes and their expectations for the newer mainline games will drop as well, saving us time and money which would otherwise be wasted putting in an effort. So we release the new games lacking in content even compared to the gameboy, DS, 3DS versions and buggy as hell, fans moan but they'll still buy em cause its Pokemon. Everyone loves Pokemon. Then we release dlc, that is also buggy as hell and costs nearly as much as a new game. Oh and never patch or fix anything cause that'll save us time and money as well. Fans will moan, but still buy the dlcs because its more pokemon. Everyone loves Pokemon.
With our commitment to shoddy buggy workmanship and content cutting, we should be on track to churn out a mediocre pokemon experience once a year from now until time stops and continue raking in a proft whilst doing so. That's the gamefreak/nintendo way...and people will continue loving dat Pokemon.

This is a problem I see with the gaming community where they think 3D is automatically better than 2D
What makes a game good graphically is the artistic style and how well implemented it is into the game
The original Diamond & Pearl, with all their technical problems, had a cohesive art style, the 2d elements combined pretty smoothly with the 3D elements, it was COHESIVE. And that chibi style worked for 2D characters
BDSP, not only does it have average 3D graphics, but the artstyle is awful. A bunch of trees that look exactly the same worked for Diamond and Pearl, but it looks god awful in BDSP. Also you have toy trees but realistic water? That has no cohesion whatsoever. Also following Pokemon look awful too
But hey, lets say BDSP is better than Diamond & Pearl graphically, in a literal sense. Even then, Diamond & Pearl at least looked like games from the year they were released, BDSP looks like a game that woulda been released for mobile 4 years before.
The only important improvement BDSP had over Diamond & Pearl is that at least they dont have performance issues, everything else is either worse (although not necessarily less enjoyable) or the same

The reason why I like Hoenn it's because it's the most "adventure" feeling Pokemon game, it's atmosphere is just so unique and it's music is so charming with it's Trumpets and French Horns mixed with some NES sounds

We need 1:1 remakes like BDSP because Diamond and Pearl aren't available for any current consoles. They're not made for fans of the originals, they're made for people who have never got a chance to play them and want to play them on the Switch.
Also, GameFreak didn't even make BDSP themselves, they outsourced it to another game dev company. None of GameFreak's own employees worked on it.

Idk but having diamond and pearl have a forced run in a game, that was insanely too fast, designed for linear straight line movements killed any hope i had for that shit. Let people walk if they want to and not woth some bs where you have to barely... Barely tippy tap the stick forward to walk and if you go just a millimeter too much youre sprinting in a game that wasnt designed for it.

I disagree with your remakes don't need to be made because there is nothing to modernize take.
BDSP should have used eitherSword & Shields or Lets Go Pikachu/Eevee models and style to remake the game instead of the chibi art style.
However I think remakes and/or resisting old regions will always needed because they're will always be people who didn't get to experience those regions and stories when they were originally released. Like I would genuinely enjoy a Sun & Moon game in the Gen 8 or Gen 9 style for the sole purpose of playing them with my wife who didn't lile Pokémon back when the 3DS was a thing.

BDSP still sold the best of any remake so I very much think remakes are on the cards, they may go back to full on remakes rather than faithful ones but BDSP’s (undeserved) reputation isn’t stopping them alone

Pokemon remakes are a way for newer fans to see older regions with fresh eyes and modern mechanics.
BDSP are the latest remakes and due to me never playing Kanto Johto Hoeen or Sinnoh untill they fot remakes in 3d i still haven't played Johto but i have played the others and BDSP was fine as a fresh experience.
Oh and we are most likely getting b/w remakes in gen 10 due to the whole remake the game in even numbered gen alao know as the remake a game the same gen a new one comes out that matchs that gens number.
E.g. gen 2 remakes came out in gen four and gen 4 remakes came out in gen 8 that is a pattern we can follow to determine that it is too early for a new one wait a few more years for gen 10 then we shall see if I was right or wrong but i feel like irs going to be right.
