I like the Idea that progress constructing the power plant halted when Zapdos moved in. Whoever was in charge of the project was at a meeting like: "The local lightning god is nesting the construction site. Brock, Bruno and the Viridian Gym Leader, whose identity is still undisclosed to the public, are preoccupied and cannot lend assistance with their high level rock and ground type Pokemon. Until further notice, the premises now serves as a temple dedicated to the mighty thunderbird, praise be unto thee..."
@@ricarlab.967 That actually makes sense as to why it finally has been restored and put back into use if only to power the Magnet Train between Kanto and Johto. Oh yeah, the Strange House in Gen 5 has way more lore about it, and it's genuinely one of the darkest stories I think Pokémon has done. So the story starts out in Black and White. You see the ghost girl on the nearby bridge where she cries about her abra and then disappears. An NPC next to where she was starts freaking out and asks if you just saw that. Once you leave the bridge, there's an old woman who explains that there was once a little girl who liked the play on that bridge with her abra as the birdge was still being built. But one day, she disappeared and was never seen again. The story doesn't continue until Black 2 and White 2 when you visit the Strange House. As you make your way through the house, the trainers you meet are actually more annoyed than anything else because the furniture keeps moving and they're struggling to get out. But they're not really scared, more just like 'oh, this is pretty spooky haha. And a massive pain' As you make your way through each room, the ghost girl keeps appearing and slowly tells her story. She mentions her abra too so you know this is the same girl from the original Gen 5 run. Basically, she was playing on the bridge with her abra and one day, Darkrai came along and he just so happened to be in a bad mood. Something happened, and she was locked in a coma of endless nightmares. She was rushed home by her parents and as her health declined, her parents started panicking and found a way to summon Cresselia and beg her for help. She gave them the Lunar Wing, and the parents rushed home to save their daughter...they barely missed her. She passed away before they could use the wing. The family likely abandoned the house afterwards, maybe they knew her spirit was still there, maybe they didn't. Anyways, once you make it to the heart of the house, the girl finishes her story and gives you the Lunar Wing. She thanks you for caring and says that she no longer has any need for the wing. She then asks that you return the wing to Cresselia. If you return to the bridge with the wing, that's how you get a Cresselia encounter. The thing is, even as a spirit, she's still stuck in this endless loop of nightmares and is only able to break through every so often to speak to you. It's left ambiguous as to if you helping her broke her out of her ghosty nightmare loop, or if she's stuck like that forever, reliving her personal hell. The story could be taken either way.
Something weird is that in Mystery Dungeon Darkrai is actually evil and his nightmare causes pokémon to suffer so it's the exact opposite of what the pokédex states, so maybe an "evil" Darkrai exists somewhere? But also Mystery Dungeon is a completely different universe and the Darkrai from that universe got his memory "almost" wiped.
@@malick9549remember that most legendary and mythical pokemon, including arceus, are not the only of their kind. Also that, while no pokedex is a reliable source, iirc darkrais mentioned entry came from the rotom dex, the least reliable, as its an actual sentient being that talks to you.
@@malick9549 seeing as Darkrai is a mythical Pokemon rather than a legendary Pokemon, I could buy the idea that multiple Darkrai exist. Sure there’s only one Mew, Jirachi or Victini, but there’s also multiple confirmed Genesect, Meltan and (possibly) even Deoxys (I say possibly because its interactions with meteorites changing its form makes me think that whatever planet it’s from its not the only one of its kind there)
@@DG_Toti I actually searched online and multiple Darkrai do exist, Tobias owns one and there are other that appear in the anime. And something else I forgot is that in ranger Shadows of Almia darkrai has an ability called Dark Power that can send people in a dimension of total darkness, so that'd be another game where Darkrai is depicted as evil-ish but that could be also debatable: it behaved the way it did because of the power overload
Considering Pokemon schools have been a thing throughout the games, the most recent generation was entirely focused on Pokemon schools, I think it'd be super cool to have a big abandoned school. The backstory wouldn't be too difficult either, I legit just thought of it right this second: a fire breaks out and the school evacuates; some kid or Pokemon gets left behind by an absentminded teacher or sneaks back in on their own; the school gets shut down with the idea it will eventually be repaired and reopened; between the tragedy of the place, fire and ghost types moving in, and the cost of construction, it never happens; the building remains a half standing ruin. If you go to the school you see a figure occasionally peek at you around corners, and finally spot it in front of a locker. They vanish when you approach, and when you examine the locker you find it's somehow stuck. When you find a way to open it there's something inside that would be valuable to a child, and you can't take it. You walk away, hear a loud noise behind you, and come back. The item is gone, and instead there is a max revive left for you. The figure never appears again. In the closest town there is a new school, and when you go inside there you can see lots of sprinklers and emergency extinguishers around, and the principal has a powerful water type. If you talk to them after the event at the abandoned school, they give a special dialogue about how hard it can be to experience tragedy, but we all keep moving forward because people need to be there for each other. ...Seriously I legit thought of that in like five minutes and now I want it.
I think the old chateau could be a case of carbon monoxide poisening. There's no damage marks on the building that indicate a fire or flooding or something of that nature. And carbon monoxide leaves no visible traces. The only damage to the building seems to be due to lack of maintenance and long term abandonment which would fit. It is also not that uncommon for old buildings like that.
Might be on to something- The vast majority of Pokemon there are Gastly, which is referred to as being a poisonous gas Pokemon just as much as a ghost.
@@thesludgeking I didn't even consider that. That's awesome, but I was pondering on this theory and it could go even deeper. You see, a common symptom of carbon monoxide poisoning is hallucinations. Which is one of the reasons ghosts always seem to haunt these places. They're not really there, but as you're being poisoned you start to hallucinate them. Now. What if the same can be said for us: the trainer. What if the source of the monoxide poisoning is still there and we as the trainer are suffering from it as we walk across the old chateau, causing us to hallucinate the ghosts of people.
Kanto has the most abandoned buildings as well as the most poison Pokémon out of any generation as well as the only mention of a recent war… Gen 1 was the closest thing to a post apocalypse society besides the Orre region
Oh for sure. I cut a section out of this video where I rambled about how run down Kanto feels in general because it was making the preamble too long. I’m definitely interested in exploring that.
@@thesludgeking I stand corrected about Kanto having most abandoned Unvova Hoenn have the same amount it’s like 2 per a game usually …unless you count the strangely desolate underground path. I think that the gen 1 Kanto was meant to be a reflection of how the real world Kanto was in 90s when the bubble encomony popped and buildings were left unfinished. Gen 1 Kanto was bleak but endearing with all the dungeons to explore while gen 2 Kanto was more depressing having all those dungeons removed but as kid I didn’t see that I was just surprised that they gave us a post game experience that set the bar high for next gen.
Regarding Zapdos moving in: imagine if that was a thing. You're working on a project, all the permits, funding, and wages are accounted for, and then 3/4 through an elemental creature just moves in and either nobody wants to remove it or the cost would be too much for the company. Can you imagine that? Closest thing I can think of IRL is this Humpback Whale that swims up this river out west and swims into a commercial salmon refuge to just gorge itself on the fish... And there isn't a damn thing they can do to stop it
Funny thing about your IRL example. The closest to it was the whale known to Romans as Porphyrios. It lived in the Mediterranean for 50 years, terrorized and harassed the area which became great enough that it was a thorn in Justinian's side, and met it's end when it got beached chasing dolphins and a local mob killed it.
Can you truly call yourself a midwesterner if you haven't been exposed to lethal amounts of mold and asbestos while exploring as a kid? I'll have to look into Kinloch
The Pokémon Mansion fascinates me, but I don’t think about it often. When I do though, there’s one thought that always sticks around in my head: “What if the old lab survived the eruption unlike the rest of the building and is now buried under a mountain of cooled lava; a tomb of sin and regrets, forever lost to time on a now abandoned island, only remembered by those who would rather forget about it themselves.”
@@CaptainObliviousV I didn’t even consider that possibility! Makes me wonder what kind of stuff we DON’T see in Pokémon games due to them being buried or otherwise hidden from view.
In the Johto games, Red is the only person who owns a Mewtwo (presumably), unless you transfer your Mewtwo from RBY to GSC. I don’t think Mewtwo is even mentioned in GSC. The only person who has knowledge of Mewtwo besides Giovanni, Mr. Fuji, and maybe Blaine is Red. Who doesn’t talk. Giovanni, Mr. Fuji, and Blaine never even slightly mention the existence of Mewtwo in any adaption of Johto, either.
@@itstheman0nthem00n that little bit of lore was honestly brilliant in the original Johto games. Though they ultimately reopened cerulean cave and thus Mewtwo in the remakes which is nice for players who never played FRLG, but kinda breaks the lore from the originals
Concerning the Kanto power plant: in Austria we started constructing a nuclear power plant in 1972 and it was pretty much finished, but due to public pressure it has never been turned on. Instead, it's now a museum and sometimes used for filming movies.

11:42 Just wanted to say thank you for connecting Rotom to Cyrus instead of Charon! Sure, back then people assumed that Charon wrote the entry in the Old Notebook, but USUM and Masters has given way more evidence that the author is Cyrus instead of him. I still don't know why Bulbapedia hasn't fixed that mistake.
@TheWispGuy Charon did write one of the notebooks. The final line is "They will come to recognize me as the scientific genius Char..." That's the one Bulbapedia is referring to. It's in all of the Rotom appliance rooms. There is a second notebook. The second one describes Rotom's discovery by a child and is exclusive to Platinum and BDSP.
The old chateau was already my favorite abandoned area, but I had no idea about the antidote in the trashcan exclusive to pearl/ diamond since I only played platinum. Legit got chills over that.
Ex Urbexer here. When I was younger I used to explore abandoned buildings for funsies. I've explored an old abandoned school, an entire abandoned psyche ward including a power plant and crematorium, an old recreational building, an entire abandoned resort, and a bunch of random structures I've found through the years. If I had a car and the time I'd still be urbexing. I love it so much. I think old abandoned buildings and land are super cool, and when I was younger the old abandoned psyche center was my stomping grounds. Me and my old friends would literally go up to the roof of one of the buildings and just smoke weed up there. When I was homeless I used to squat in some of them too during the winter. I regret a lot of my younger years, but I don't regret urbexing. If I could find the right friend group I'd still be doing it if I could. like those abandoned buildings you've sat outside of and speculated about. I've been in them. I've explored them thoroughly. I've even lived in some of them. One of my biggest regrets is not recording it. It's really cool, and there's a lot of history and charm in a lot of them. I wish I could have shown some of that to the world.
All the ruims in paldea with the stories about the ancient king, the treasures of ruin and area zero give paldes a truly ancient feel and like there's something evil lurking in all the ruins
The Eterna Forrest music is bittersweet for me. It's a beautiful song but definitely makes me sad af so whenever someone uses it as background music, I'm like "OOOOOOH 😢" 😂
Just wanna say this is one of my favorite pokemon videos I've seen in a long time. I really enjoyed the way you broke things down. Definitely do more of these kinds of videos!
I was going to say the desert location in X and y. While it’s not hunted it is basically abandoned. It might just be the fact that it was rushed content.
You know I never did think about how strange it is that the Old Chateu has a working and modern (By 2006 standards) tv despite the house seemingly having been empty and left to rot for presumbly over a decade or so by the time you visit it
Something I was always curious about was that abandoned house on the snow route around Snowpeak City. When you first enter it, it is inhabited by a mysterious woman who gives you a spell tag, acting mysterious. When you leave the house and enter it again, the woman is gone, the house is darkened, and you never see the woman again.
Moreso an abandoned site instead of a building but one area that I’ve wanted to know more about was Terminus Cave. As in game it states it was a fully functional coal mine until it was shut down after fears of a big monster was inside. Like the possibility for more story there is insane. Did any workers inside see Zygarde or get attacked by it, never to return?
Not sure why, but I always loved videogames that put your into a totally empty world with just the remnants of what came before you left to remind you that you're not completely alone in the world. I love liminal spaces in videogame. Real life too, honesty. There's something about abandoned places that feel so natural. Like a place that was once occupied by so many people just utterly taken over by time, the way everything is, the way we all will. I get why people find it creepy, but I always feel so connected to the world when I'm in those spaces.
This is a fantastic video. I really love to explore each piece of the world of Pokemon and RUclips is perfect for it. If you want more, interesting stuff about Pokemon lore and worldbuilding, the Game Cube games set in the Orre Region are my recommendation.
I've wanted to see videos like this for a long time - abandoned places in Pokemon have always been so intriguing to me, and you nailed down what makes them special. The closest most of us will get to exploring a forgotten landmark and without the danger of getting hurt, but all the fun of speculation. Great stuff! Pokemon Mansion is probably my favourite, especially after learning that in Japanese, the Burglar and Scientist trainer classes are called "Post-Fire Burglar" and "Researcher Gone Astray" - that just gets my mind racing, and would probably keep me clear from real abandoned places haha.
the power plant and burned down mansion had my hairs standing on end. something about the music used in the burned mansion - and the voltorbs in the power plant just did something to me. good video. thank you.
The abandoned buildings in my town were impossible to miss. They were the centerpiece of the town; in the late 1800s, early 1900 my town was founded on a state psychiatric facility and a huge coal fired power plant. My cousin's and I were exploring the entire compound by age...13 or 14? There was also a way less creepy abandoned concrete plant, we were exploring that WITH OUR PARENTS by age 5 or 6ish.
Never thought of that, but maybe not an abandoned hospital, but an abandoned, preferably huge and multifloor Pokémon Center... It can give similar vibes to the Lavander Town's Pokémon Tower... Could be a good idea!
Dude, I literally just stomped at your channel! Loved the video! How about making one about the mysterious ruins of Paldea? Joined your channel, and hope you can continue to make more creepy videos as this one.
First video I’ve watched of yours and subbed immediately, what an interesting mix of past times you have abandoned place exploring and shiny hunting lmao
I would love to see more abandoned places in pokemon! Those kind of places usually have a story and lore behind them, and I want to know more! Bring on the lore! 😊🤘 I would love to see a part 2/ sequel to this video! Stay awesome! 😎
Even if it’s not technically abandoned, I always found Po Town really unsettling due to the somber atmosphere and the ambiguity of how it was destroyed in the first place. This wasn’t just a single house or facility that fell into ruin; this was an entire neighborhood that likely would’ve been just as bustling and welcoming as any other town at one point. We know Team Skull took it over as their hideout, but it’s not made clear if they arrived after the community fell apart, or if they were the direct cause of it.
I subscribed because I think this video is really cool. I love theory videos and retrospectives on Pokémon. Abandoned areas in Pokémon have always captured my imagination too both as a kid and adult. Would definitely be awesome to see more videos like this in the future. Definitely a lot of areas I wish we knew more about but the lack off every detail also makes places even more eerie wondering what happened. 😮 I like hearing about others experiences & thoughts on different aspects of the games.
I remember that my friend lied to me about saying that if I were to trap one of the ghosts in the Old Chateau, I would encounter Gengar. I've always wanted Gengar but had no one to trade with me one. So I literally grabbed my own balls and braved whatever is at the Old Chateau even though I was scared the shits. Stayed there for hours and left relieved even though I couldn't get the Pokemon I wanted :/
I’ve been learning to cook since I was 5 so I might be a bit biased but I really think you CAN get the best of both worlds with this sort of approach. A lot of my go-to ‘fridge clearing’ type meals are also favourites that I love to cook and to eat. They’re not always pretty, true, but once you get your skills, method and approach down, you can absolutely have a delicious home cooked meal every night with whatever you have lying around.
I like the implication that the Kanto Power Plant was postponed for conservation efforts but only until some random kid captured a large endangered bird.
A variant I heard about the Old Chateau poison theory is that Gardinia was the culprit. Basically, the theory goes that the ghosts are her grandpa and sister, and that her sister was gonna be a gym leader. Gardinia, jealous, poisoned them with the intention of curing them after she became leader, but the poison was much stronger than she expected. So she discarded the antidote out of despair. However, she still sometimes watches the place, like when you find her outside the first time.
This is the first video I remember watching from this channel, so I don't know if there's an ARG attached, but if there is: captions at 10:13 look to be a cipher. Not solving it, those actually participating in the ARG can do that.
One of my favorite abandoned locations in a Pokémon game is the decrepit lab & power plant friend areas in the original PMD Rescue Team. Their mere existence drives my brain bonkers, because, while no humans are ever seen in a PMD game, it heavily implies that humans existed at one point. What happened to them?!
I'd argue that the Burned Tower now counts as an abandoned location now that the Legendary Beasts have permanently exited the premises, now there's literally no reason to go there besides catching Pokémon or exploring the ruins of what was formerly a religious site.
🎢 I would really like to explore an abandoned amusement park in a future game! Not just because I like abandoned theme parks in general, but also because it could give us a side-mission involving some attraction or ride like an old rollercoaster or skywheel. The devs could also lean more into a marsh-like area if that's what they'll be going for if they choose to go the abandoned theme-park route, with many Water, Grass or even Ghost and Steel types [Water and Grass due to the swamp, and Ghost and Steel because of the abandoned coasters or other attractions that have been put out of commission]. 🎡 Maybe the player has to complete a coaster-themed puzzle to obtain something related to Spiritomb, or Rotom. Maybe a Mime Jr. or Mr. Mime is hanging around, and you can encounter them in Wild Battles. A haunted mirror room involving a Gastly- or Haunter-related side-quest. Or maybe something that would feature an all-new Ghost type. Another really dope idea would be if you had to do some fetch-quest that involved finding a certain amount of haunted bear dolls or Substitute toys while something like a Banette or a Pumpkaboo helps you out among the destroyed carnival booths.
I'll never forget he first time I saw a ghost sprite at the Old Chateau. It was in the room next to the one my avatar was in: I saw something move but when I went to investigate, I found nothing. It left me with an empty feeling in my stomach, and i wondered if my game was somehow glitching. It was sometime later that I learned they did indeed drift round to Old Chateau at random times!
The Under in Pokémon XD, in Colosseum, you were able to explore it and The Under and The Deep Colosseum. In XD, it's closed off and buried. You can no longer explore it.
I've always had thr same feeling seeing stuff abandoned! I dont know if you ever saw the show, it used to be on years ago because I remmeber my dad watching it, called Life After People and ot always filled me with such a feeling of dread. It would show how everythjng would decay after everyone was gone.
I personally would've loved to see you talk about the ruins of alph. It may not count as haunted, but it and the sinjoh ruins are such a huge talking point when it comes to an "abandoned" area(obviously, there are paleontologists exploring the area, but they're a bunch of old ruins that SHOULD be locked off to the public)
It’s always so different in Pokeworlds. FF et al taught us to explore the houses and see what we could…ahem…borrow. But Pokémon will keep you searching a three story house with nothing in it 😂 I guess that’s more realistic .
18:05 I feel like it has to do with Caitlyn. She's an elite 4 member with uncontrollable psychic powers. It would make sense if she caused an explosion of some sort
Hmmm what about Sky Pillar? Obviously it was built by people for some reason and abandoned. The floor being broken and stuff might give off a sense of danger? I don’t know just speculating haha!
I would have liked to hear something about the Johto region, as one of the few generations that was skipped. The Burned Tower at least should be abandoned enough to be considered for this list.. though maybe the fact that it's required to visit excludes it from the list.
first i've seen of yours. i like it. i think you're well suited to longform content you got a relaxing voice and i hope to see more like this. but i'm also rather enjoying your shiny hunting content
I'd love an "Abandoned Villain Base" that belonged to a completely unrelated Villain Team to whatever the main one is for the game's story, bits of lore here and there to reveal their goals (maybe they accomplished their goal and that simply lead to their disbandment of their own accord or were wiped out in some eldritch multidimensional erasure) you could probably also have an Elder Scientist in the main Villain Team that was a part of that other team and is the one to help you through it in the post game like "I physically can't remember what happened here, give me a hand" or "I'm the only one who remembers and need your MC skills to help me beat the thing in the menacing mystery hole of doom"...
I think the reason why abandoned building may invoke a feeling of unease, even in video games, is due to the many factors such as folk stories local rumors and myths, popular media depication said places often used for apocalyptic and/or horror setting, et cetera. The main one I believe is, as humans, regardless of culture, buildings are always built to serve a purpose. If there is no purpose for a building or it is left to the wims for nature, your mind instinctually assumes something is wrong and to be ready for something that can hypothetically be a threat to you. Then, your mind itself becomes your worst enemy because you may start running ideas in your, whether logical, illogical, or both, as to why it is deserted/abandoned if you are never told.
Burned Tower in Ecruteak City from GSC/HGSS would have been a good mention. It was destroyed in a fire and abandoned, albeit still inside of city limits. The fire is also responsible for the death of many Pokémon (3 of which were revived by Ho-oh, becoming Suicune, Raikou, and Entei.
I would love more abandoned places in pokemon. That hotel with the ghost girl in Kalos always seemed so strange because you never hear of an empty hotel just chilling in a city. I think seeing an abandoned safari zone would be amazing as the pokemon could all be moved there but like some Disney resorts and parks it just... Stopped. Would be spooky. On the other side of the spectrum what are your favorite more... Non important locations? I love the one town in Unova the trains take you and it's just there for the vibe
Tbh I think the pokemon mansion was the games' equivalent of the lab/arena Mewtwo was born in, destroyed, and rebuilt. Considering Mewtwo shows up in Cerulean Cave in the games and in a special episode of the anime, maybe the mansion is post-movie and in disrepair because everyone who would've owned it forgot it exists.

And a massive pain'
As you make your way through each room, the ghost girl keeps appearing and slowly tells her story.
@@jackcollinsmartin4210 I loved that the story continued in the next game. Also, the abandoned house in B2W2 was damn creepy.
Thrifty Megamart is my favorite abandoned location in the Pokemon franchise.

Don’t forget that Cyrus’s family live in Sunnyshore, and comment on his emotional stuntedness.
Kinda rude of them, actually... "yeah, so, our kid grew up just kinda... preferring machines to people? Eh, whatever."
@@cringecorps a reflexion of the actual province of Kanto in japan back then? that would be kinda cool honestly
Living in the Midwest, there’s so many abandoned places to explore when you have time to kill. Like the entire town of Kinloch Missouri.
Crystal Anniversary says hi

@@tvb5509 Oh, I wasn't saying Charon didn't write that one. It's why I specified Old Notebook instead of Mysterious Notebook.
Honestly I think those honorable mentions are a list all their own.
All the ruims in paldea with the stories about the ancient king, the treasures of ruin and area zero give paldes a truly ancient feel and like there's something evil lurking in all the ruins
Seriously, running into those stakes for the first time and hearing the music fade away made it feel like I walked into a different game
Will do!
I'd love to see Silent Town remade as an empty & dilapidated Old Bark Town.
I remember that house! I think she's supposed to be a yuki-onna, a Japanese snow spirit that appears as a young woman during blizzards
Dude…… what a great video! I did not know about the kanto power plant lore!
I always thought mansion on Cinnabar should have had ghost types.
Bro you know how to hit me with the vibes right out the gate with that BGM at the start.
Take me back.
I get why people find it creepy, but I always feel so connected to the world when I'm in those spaces.
great story telling and narration! loved the video
This is a fantastic video. I really love to explore each piece of the world of Pokemon and RUclips is perfect for it. If you want more, interesting stuff about Pokemon lore and worldbuilding, the Game Cube games set in the Orre Region are my recommendation.
dude, this was such an unexpected and cool video. it looks like it's popping off too! i'd love to see what other ideas you have for videos like this
More to come!
Love that I'm watching this before I go to sleep :)
Thank you a lot! I had no idea about those trainer class name differences. I've gotta keep stuff like that in mind for next time.
New to the channel but I love videos in this style especially ones about Pokemon
thats the content i want from my algorithm
the power plant and burned down mansion had my hairs standing on end. something about the music used in the burned mansion - and the voltorbs in the power plant just did something to me.
good video.
thank you.
Thank you.
No problem.
I’ve always enjoyed this areas in pokemon. In each iteration, the liminal but comforting aura of these places is peak.
I definitely should not have been exploring the places I did as a kid lol
Never thought of that, but maybe not an abandoned hospital, but an abandoned, preferably huge and multifloor Pokémon Center... It can give similar vibes to the Lavander Town's Pokémon Tower... Could be a good idea!
Dude, I literally just stomped at your channel! Loved the video!
How about making one about the mysterious ruins of Paldea? Joined your channel, and hope you can continue to make more creepy videos as this one.
First video I’ve watched of yours and subbed immediately, what an interesting mix of past times you have abandoned place exploring and shiny hunting lmao
woah. never knew i needed content like this from brother sludge but man i love it. wouldn’t be opposed to more non-shiny hunting videos!!
Expect more, then!
I would love to see more abandoned places in pokemon! Those kind of places usually have a story and lore behind them, and I want to know more! Bring on the lore! 😊🤘
I would love to see a part 2/ sequel to this video! Stay awesome! 😎
Great video! I really enjoyed your voiceover
I think one of the things that was so scary about the Old Chateau, for me, was that no other game has sprites that behave the way the ones here do.
You actually can get Gengar in the room with glowing eyes. You just need to dual slot a gen 3 cartridge while exploring there. I've done it before.
I’ve been learning to cook since I was 5 so I might be a bit biased but I really think you CAN get the best of both worlds with this sort of approach. A lot of my go-to ‘fridge clearing’ type meals are also favourites that I love to cook and to eat. They’re not always pretty, true, but once you get your skills, method and approach down, you can absolutely have a delicious home cooked meal every night with whatever you have lying around.
true
I like the implication that the Kanto Power Plant was postponed for conservation efforts but only until some random kid captured a large endangered bird.
I always wished they had done a ghost town ...maybe an abandoned mining town .. a pokemon evolution stone mining town in the middle of nowhere...
That could be awesome! We’ve seen mines before, but not the towns that spring up around them.
Nobody found that he named his rampardos, ram rancher lol
Reminds me of those old SOG haunted gamings where Muta would name his pokemon stuff like penisland
What happened to them?!
id wanna see an abandoned Pokecenter or Pokemart. but have the building be in the style of the older ones from like gen 3 or something.
Well I certainly would like to hear about the interpretations of Area Zero, it’s very much gives that whole other world vibe.
Make more vids like this one it was really good!
Thank you! That's the plan
The mansion Cinnabar being Part of Mewtwo's Backstory is good
I'd argue that the Burned Tower now counts as an abandoned location now that the Legendary Beasts have permanently exited the premises, now there's literally no reason to go there besides catching Pokémon or exploring the ruins of what was formerly a religious site.
I knew about it before I saw it, but jeez I may have been a completely different person if I found it on accident.
I haven't! I've gotta check that out now
I personally would've loved to see you talk about the ruins of alph. It may not count as haunted, but it and the sinjoh ruins are such a huge talking point when it comes to an "abandoned" area(obviously, there are paleontologists exploring the area, but they're a bunch of old ruins that SHOULD be locked off to the public)
Oh trust me, just because I didn't talk about them in this video doesn't mean I don't have any thoughts on them. Maybe one day I'll do a ruins video
It’s always so different in Pokeworlds. FF et al taught us to explore the houses and see what we could…ahem…borrow. But Pokémon will keep you searching a three story house with nothing in it 😂 I guess that’s more realistic .
Imagine an abandoned route 1...
Or an abandoned Pokémon center...
I find abandoned buildings fascinating as hell personally.
absolute baller of a video absolutely enjoyed it!!!
Po Town was abandoned by non-Team Skull people, to the point where it's locked off by Nanu. If Lost Hotel and Dreamyard count, Po Town should too.
I feel differently, it makes me happy to see nature taking back areas that used to be inhabited by humans. Ruins are still useful for wildlife.
I plan on continuing both
I'd love an "Abandoned Villain Base" that belonged to a completely unrelated Villain Team to whatever the main one is for the game's story, bits of lore here and there to reveal their goals (maybe they accomplished their goal and that simply lead to their disbandment of their own accord or were wiped out in some eldritch multidimensional erasure) you could probably also have an Elder Scientist in the main Villain Team that was a part of that other team and is the one to help you through it in the post game like "I physically can't remember what happened here, give me a hand" or "I'm the only one who remembers and need your MC skills to help me beat the thing in the menacing mystery hole of doom"...

I honestly completely forgot that the lost hotel even existed in x and y. I don't even remember ever seeing it from my playthrough.
Believe me, it’s not your fault. It’s on two routes simultaneously and not accessible where the town map says it should be.
Very interesting subject!
I love the one town in Unova the trains take you and it's just there for the vibe
i really really really like memorial pillar in sevii islands
Love creepy Pokemon lore. Great video.
This was very unique and insightful
Tbh I think the pokemon mansion was the games' equivalent of the lab/arena Mewtwo was born in, destroyed, and rebuilt. Considering Mewtwo shows up in Cerulean Cave in the games and in a special episode of the anime, maybe the mansion is post-movie and in disrepair because everyone who would've owned it forgot it exists.
