My kyogre was my beauty contest pokemon and was carried into gen 4, did some work there and it's currently sitting in gen 8 with all of its hoenn and sinnoh ribbons intact

The image of a sea god participating in a beauty contest is hilarious, your Kyogre went from trying to flood the entire region, to the stage. Getting nervous and losing turns over simple moves like quick attack and double team.
*Fun fact: Before ORAS was officially released, there were CoroCoro leaks that depicted Steven using a Mega Charizard X instead of a Shiny Mega Metagross in battle*

My first Pokémon game was Sapphire. I was only 11 and I was so hyped opening it up in my mom’s car. Good times
That was me getting blue version after going with my mom to get my grandmother from the airport. Both are gone now so i treasure those memories all the more.
I got silver when I was only 4 and I didn't quite understand what I was doing but I learned enough that when I got Ruby in 2003, I fell in love
I like to think that the Gen 1 and 2 themes were made so the composers could get a good feel on how the music for Hoenn should sound.

In 2004 My first Pokémon game was ruby the beldum I got from Steven was silver colored and I didn’t even realize it was shiny until realizing my metagross was totally different from Stevens 🥹🥹🥹
I actually had to soft-reset like 90 times to get a shiny Beldum. You were pretty lucky!

When i was a kid before knowing what a shiny even was I gota purple Mudkip at the start of one of my playthroughs and turned off my gameboy to reset because i assumed it was glitched.

About Looker on the S.S. Anne, he's most likely a Looker from a different universe, a "Faller" like Annabel in Sun and Moon, as they were found in the exact same circumstances, both without most of their memories, and in the 2 games that make direct mention to parallel universes too.
Aren't the events of Hoenn and Kanto around the same time? I took Looker's appearance here to mean that that was how Looker came to be in this universe in the first place, and the other games occur later

We can't even say for sure the Ultra Wormholes don't also send you back or further in time.
Another one you missed for the ghost girl, there's actually a boy in the room as well when the camera switches perspective again, just behind the player.
I think Masuda's comment that battle facilities would only be enjoyed by a small group of people compared to in the past holds some water. I believe starting with generation 5 games, they added all sorts of survey and telemetry into their online services (Game Sync) that can track what game features and areas players explore the most and spend the most time with. It's curious that starting with generation 6, a lot of main stays just didn't return and are still missing from mainline games today.
I doubt it. It would have been incredible, there’s way more “old” Pokémon fans than new and post game shit is always very valued

I have known Braille my entire life almost, so the joy I felt when it was in general 3and people would come to me like I was a cheat code, that was nice.
This reminds me I had friend that had Retinitis pigmentosa so he could read braille telling me all I needed to get the reggies.

The braille portions always bring back fond memories of my friends at the Boys and Girls club. I was the oldest in our friend group (and the only girl, but that's neither here nor there), and we would rotate what we were doing according to age groups. We were allowed to print one page during our computer lab time, and I remember was assigned the task of looking up the braille alphabet and printing a copy of it so we could decode the messages in our games. I kept that page folded up in my bag with my game stuff so we could use it when we needed it.
Gen 2-3 was where pokemon music peaked and thats a hill im willing to die on

I remember that deoxys rumor. I remember waiting so long and thinking I did something wrong. Thought it was some secret event because I didn't see it in that giant guide book lol. Miss those days.
I kind of miss the days when the only information we had about events and secrets were playground rumors. With how easy it is to access the Internet nowadays, the days of Mew hiding under the truck and taking the rocket to the moon to catch Deoxys are no more . . . It's kind of sad, in a way, and bittersweet. We have an infinite wealth of knowledge available to us at all times, but that also means that the younger generations won't get to experience the thrill of playground rumors and spending hours trying over and over again to get a trick a friend has told us about to work.
The trumpets and French horns in Gen 3 were immaculate!!!

Gen 3 is my favorite, if I could be transmigrated or reincarnated or sent to the Pokémon world, I’d want to be in hoenn. My favorite Pokémon is Metagross and my second is Swampert.

I adore Ruby and Sapphire. I bought Sapphire 6 months before it was released in the UK and spent all my savings on it. Worth every single penny.
I love the first 3 generations of Pokémon. I had a lot of fun with Sapphire and I remember maxing out on time!
the braille was in the pokemon booklet that came with the game, im a little sad they didnt use it in the following game, i prefer the mechanic over the missing nomes.

Abandoned Ship was always the most mysterious area aside from the regi tombs for me. The music and the general vibe felt more like some Resident Evil area, instead of a pokemon one. Creepy place for sure.
There are a lot of things in Pokémon whose background is unknown, and the S.S. Cactus is one of them. What happened to it, or the S.S. Anne might forever remain a mystery.

I just realized that Mr. Fuji is the creator of Pokemon. Mew represents Pokemon as a whole and Team Rocket represents the evil investors and people in control of the Pokemon Company.
Mr. Fuji the creator of Pokemon eventually realized that Team Rocket would end up using Pokemon for "profit". The message left on Faraway Island basically proves that. He hopes that the Pokemon Franchise ends up in good hands.
When you mentioned the unused GSC tracks, I'm surprised you didn't mention the GSC youngster encounter music found within the leaks. That aside though, I really enjoyed the video!
Foster has mannerisms of dragapult, wonder if simplified nonghost dragapault is where it'd be. I could see spiderlily getting remade and formed into salazzle where they went with scent instead, it'd explain the wiggly shape.
Something often not remembered is that the manuals that came with some versions of the games actually had braille guides included with them, but of course if you got these games from secondhand stores which sold loose cartridges then you'd just have to be lucky enough to have access to an internet connection in the mid 2000s lol
Assuming the entire Gen 3 games gets released for the Nintendo Switch NSO in the future, I'll be sure to try to complete the Pokedex out of pure nostalgia.
Completing a Pokédex is so satisfying, but Gen III is unforgiving if we talk about the National Dex.
Unless you use the Pomeg berry glitch it would be impossible without Colosseum & XD

Why doesn't nobody look into the instruction booklet of ruby/sapphire? There is a braille table in it with a note saying that you may need it.

Pokemon Emerald was one of the more exciting pokemon games for me to finish, as it was my first pokemon game since childhood on a gameboy SP
Gen 3 hoenn was my home region, I know he won't see this message but Masuda I appreciate the dedication you put into sapphire, ruby, and emerald for they are what started mine and many others love for the series
I feel like this video misses the point of an iceberg. A lot of the lower iceberg facts weren't obscure at all. Also it's clear only baseline research was done.

What the number at the Mossdeep Space Center actually represents is the number of days that have passed in-game since the save file began!
About the unused tracks on the 6th minute, I think they're placeholders, to test the system's sounds, choose the better instruments and stuff. That's what I think they did, since using an old already existing track is easier. Don't take me for certain, it's just my assumption.
The unused tracks were meant to test the gba soundfount in case anyone is wondering

Celebi and Deoxys are the rarest pokemon to get. Jirachi was recently obtainable otherwise i would count that one in too. Arceus was basically impossible to get until legends
Honestly I love all the water in hoenn. Makes it super distinct as far as regions go. Hoenn is by far my favorite, the volcano, the desert, meteor falls, the ash covered route, the rainforest, pacificlog town, the port cities. It was the first pokemon region that felt lived in. Plus the whole regi quest blew my mind as a kid.
despite the nostallgia the way combat and moveset worked for this game was heavily flawed. like absol . high atk stat but mostly special moves. like..what did the developers think? aggro was also not steel for ssome reason

Fan theory : Ruby/Brendan, Gold/Ethan, Diamond/Lucas, are all Red, after being defeated by “Gold”(future version of Red) Red runs into Celabi and Celebi takes him back in time. Red awakens way before he ran into the grass and got stopped by oak, time passes and with Red’s memory still being that of a pokemon champion he convinces his mother to move to Johto to try and find/befriend Gold. (Important for later) Red’s father is offered a job as Gym Leader, but in Hoenn) Time passes and with his now old yellow backpack gains the nickname “Gold”, in Red’s head still searching for the guy who defeated him disliked being called by his name and decided to buy a new bag. He soon receives a email from professor elm about a big discovery. The events of GSC happen as in game, eventually once Red/“Gold” defeats Blue and is to go to Mt Silver he realizes he has to face himself, that he has been Gold the whole time. The same events occur as in the beginning except after Celebi returns, Gold asks if he can go around again. Celebi granted his wish but already created a paradox, if Red moved as a child how was he on mt silver to fight himself later, time gets split in two, the energy that was expelled by this split in timelines were absorbed by evolutionary stones. With time being split so is Red, one in each timeline. If ORAS differs from RSE other than megas I’ll go over the differences later. Red is returned to Johto 4 years before Elm’s research discovery(Togepi Egg). his father Norman is offered a new job as a gym leader inexplicably, Red convinces his mom to move with his dad to hoenn.
Just watched the last one, uh, yesterday. That's great timing. I just beat this game (Emerald) for the first time recently as well. It was really good, but the lack of physical special split will never not be grating.
Using bite on a wall like cloister or steelix is pretty satisfying in gen 3 though
@breklaberif7553 And running the elemental punches on mons like Alakazam is pretty cool. It makes me wish some moves would still have some way to work with pre-phys/spec split movesets (RIP Sceptile losing its literal signature move).

I am so happy I started my Pokemon journey with Hoenn. Gen 3 would easily still be my favorite generation if it wasn’t for how polished Gen 5 is. I wish the mainline games never went fully 3D.

23:56 This is incorrect. Trainers in Colosseum can send out Shiny Pokémon. However, the shinyness is based on the trainers ID and SID. When you capture the Pokémon, its OT changes to your TID and SID and it loses its shinyness (in all but the rarest of circumstances)

I received Pokemon Sapphire as a Christmas gift from my grandparents in 2003, my friend gave me his strategy guide and i learnt the games secrets and in the hundreds of hours i spent playing this game i didn't once see a shiny and caught only one feebas and messed up its beauty stats. Huh. Never expected to run across something from a reddit post I made almost a decade ago in the wild (the most unlikely event). That could be an iceberg of its own with how weird and large some of the numbers get and the unavailability of certain rates at the time.
the relicanth and wailord entry was not about the origins of the pokemon, its about the strange requirement to have wailord in your partys second slot, and relicanth in the sixth, in order to open the Regi caves
I assumed that the point of wailord and relicanth was that they're the rarest encounter on the ocean's surface and underwater respectively

Same, I was trying to get that department store event that had rare items for the secret base and instead got mirage island. I knew it was rare because I had the guide, but I didn’t care too much about it lol
I knew ORAS were my favorite pokemon games when they made Deoxys on the moon basically real.
It was the only way to access a mythical Pokémon through normal gameplay at that time
that world map is mirrored tho!
To me those 'dex entries share similarities to some Pkmn like Blackstone is Slowpoke, Foster is Drakloak, Scale is Lotad & the last sentence of Red 🕷 lily matches Mandibuzz's Ultra Sun entry.
