9 years ago, there were 4 receivers selected in the first round of the 2012 NFL draft. How did their careers go?

Justin Blackmon, such a big "what if"
I actually met Blackmon at a mall in New Orleans, honestly was a really good dude when I met him. I was playing WR at the time and he talked to me for like 5 minutes about ball.
He reminded me of TO but without the break away speed
Dude was uber talented. I believe he was just as good if not better than Dez Bryant.
Same can be said about Josh Gordon man. Funny this draft class had two of the biggest “what-ifs” in NFL history.
@@jacobcelmer4928 josh gordon man that outro legit gave me chills
I used to watch OSU games just to watch Blackmon. Sad story, such a talented player. Allen Robinson came along 2 years later, they could have had one of the best duo in the league.
Stop man ): being a jags fan is nothing but fucking P A I N
Nobodys' fault but his own.
@@yaenamika2050 id rather fuck a cyber bot than be a jags fan
@@Lukemasonmedia you guys could've had Lamar Jackson, too
Don't forget they had Allen Hurns too who was solid during his tenure with the Jags up until they blew it up
I'll never forget how fun of a trio John Brown, Michael Floyd, and Larry Fitzgerald were during the BA-Palmer era. It was a good time while it lasted.
Smokey Brown!
Being a Jags fan, I was so excited for Justin Blackmon. His games against Houston and Denver were incredible. He looked to finally be the answer at wideout, since Jimmy Smith retired. Such an incredible waste of talent due to his off field issues.
You're a jags Fan? I am sorry for you
@@number8258 it sucks 😭
Self made "issues". He's a knucklehead.
Organization should have recognized these issues in a star player and given him some help, maybe they could’ve turned his life and career around
@@pretorious700 addiction and depression ain't no joke.
Damn lucky timing! Always love looking back at the draft classes with KTO
Ty Hilton is the best receiver to come out of this draft
And hes still beasting for the colts till this day
I remember getting him very late in our dynasty fantasy draft. Probably my biggest steal to this day.
@@jeremyc9593 Something like that happened to me but with Josh Freeman. Dude led me all the way to the championship
@@hayatorpg3896 more than likely his last season said his last contract then he’ll be done but we resigned him for 1 more year
Most successful... He wasn't the best
I love watching these videos because I’m not American but I really enjoy the game. Finding out about all of these individuals is truly enlightening. KTO is bringing the goods again.
I love these videos, it's so good for people who weren't watching back then to get context, learn about players you know, and don't know. Please keep doing these they're some of my favorite videos to watch period. RUclips, Netflix, anything I love these
Joe Mixon plays but Blackmon couldn't
Justin Blackmon had so much potential. I remember being hype when the Jags picked him just for him to be out of the league a few years later.
man was going off when he was on the field too
Crazy how the NFL thinks smoking weed is worse than beating up a woman
@@cadewardlaw5162 Honestly I think its more the fact that it was repeat offenses than the actual act. Ofc beating woman is much worse than smoking weed
@@lukeyao6483 More like jaguar hate. Josh Gordon literally been in trouble for weed about 7 times and still came back this year lmao. Blackmon got in trouble 2 or 3 times.
@@RsChrisG dang that sucks
Topics like these reminds you just how short a NFL career is. Safety should be more paramount cause these guys have alot of life after football.
And not enough have actual life skills.
Joe Mixon
Blackman and Gordon are 2 of the biggest "What Ifs" in recent memory.
Both could have been right there with Julio and AB as the prime receivers of their era. Such a shame.
I got to see a game right when Josh Gordon was breaking out. Hurts to think about all that talent lost
Gordon has actually bounced back and had a career unlike Blackmon
@@PIP-zf9yb ehhhh
Joe Mixon plays but Gordon and Blackmon can't?
KTO “____ years ago” videos are goated
I really hope that Gordon gets going in Kansas City
I think it's a douche move by KC to sign him then not play him.ffs. he could be playing, and contributing somewhere else. I wouldn't have minded him going back to NE, he'd be a great red zone target, and better than most of the WRs and TEs they have.
If Tampa wasnt already Jacked, he was a favorite of Bradys his short stint in NE.
Or give him a chance to at least play somewhere else. Raiders and Saints come to mind.
Um.
@@idontcareanymore2754 I agree that kc should play him more. As a KC fan it kinda annoys me that they signed a WR of his caliber and won't play him smh
Yeah it isn’t like Pringle or Hardmon are wowing anyone right now and the rest of the core is having a case of the dropsies
Someone still holding out hope for Gordon huh?
damn man i wish i could play ncaa again. 🥺jus talking about prospects gets the nostalgia flowing
Where'd you play at? I'm legit curious

Talents keeping out of trouble is, unfortunately, a big problem. So many what ifs have surfaced thanks to many off the field issues. It’s just sad.
Big facts
This series brings back so many memories. Middle school kid watching these guys in college. Man the good ole days
9:00 this is one of the best features of Pro Football Reference. I always go back to old drafts and sort by stats - games played, receptions, yds, etc. Gives a perspective on the over-valuing of 1st round picks.
I remember whenever I'd play as the Cardinals in Madden 15, I'd *only* throw to Michael Floyd. Definitely fun to watch irl for a few years, too
Late 00's and early 2010's will always be my favorite years of the NFL.
Some of the best seasons happened during those years. 03-13 was my fav
Late 2000s-Early 2010s NFL was amazing
- It wasn’t the Tom Brady invitational
- Excellent star power at every position
- Tons of amazing memorable playoff games
- Better jerseys amongst most teams
- nowhere near as political/soft as today
- fantasy football was funner
- Simpler times
Am I missing something?
@@Terror832 you hit the nail on the head NFL/sports in general is just a joke feels inauthentic. It feels like I'm looking at a Broadway play. Too much politics and social media about their personal lives I don't care what these players do off the field as long as it's not criminal.
Ryan Broyles.. He never made it as a legit NFL wide receiver, but he was super smart with his money and is a good person to look up to for young athletes.
Justin Blackmon would’ve been a top 5 receiver ever if he didn’t have his off field issues
That’s a huge stretch
Top 10 prob. But it would take a lot for him to be top 5 obv
what about josh gordon
He probably would’ve been a Brandin Cooks type guy, which isn’t bad at all.
@@Avntador Josh Gordon would prob have been a top 15 receiver of all time
This class had SOO much potential
these videos are bangers especially since it takes me back to NFL history in the 2010s that I wasn't familiar with thanks KTO
Had Josh Gordon in fantasy that year. Yup. It was a good year.
Love the vids man. You should do a vid (in each position if ya want) of super star players from college that fell off, fk'd up, etc that they have got a full careers. How different could the NFL be? It happens all the time, like Blackmon in this video. If he could have stayed out of trouble what kinda of impact could there have been? Playa after player, draft after draft. How deep and star studded could it be if all the injuries, arrests, and busts just never happened on top of all the surprise talent too. Now it just sounds like a thought experiment rather than a video idea, too many variables lol.
Love these types of videos bro, great storytelling as always
Bro the outdo every time is so good It’s like the perfect exit
Keep it up, can't wait to watch it
Bengals got the best bang for their buck with Mohammed Sanu and Marvin Jones Jr in the 3rd & 5th rounds.
Marvin was great on the lions
Joe Mixon is A OK right?
Great video!!!! Love this series!!
Regarding Blackmon, one of the teams that drafted before Jacksonville sent a scout to Stillwater. The scout’s job was to sit all day in Blackmon’s favorite bar for a few days. Blackmon was there so often that the team passed on drafting him.
Love when you do these types of videos. You should start of series of these running down QBs, RBs, and WRs from each class.
That’s crazy I partied with Michael Floyd in Scottsdale in 2012 you wouldn’t even thought he was in the NFL very down to earth guy
What happened to him?
Love your videos man!
Blackmon was such a beast man. GOAT college receiver imo
For real. I'm honestly sad for him that his substance abuse issues wrecked his life and I hope he's gotten cleaned up. Everyone deserves a shot at a decent life.
GOAT? Nah, but he was special. Too bad he couldn't put down the bottle.
@@cgh7337 college* goat college receiver my brotha. The only receiver in college all time who was better tbh was Michael Crabtree and I’d still pick Blackmon

I remember Michael Floyd, I remember when he caught a pass that went off his teammates helmet and went into his hands for a touchdown.
Hands down these are my favorite series on RUclips today
I see my man Travis Benjamin still sticking around. He was great at the U.
God I love the little surprise ending mentions, and hand picked plays to close out on. Superb work as always
We not gonna talk about how a WR named Nick Toon was in this draft class as well?
LMMFAO

Please 🙏 post more videos? You do beyond a great job and I can't wait to check out da next one.
i get chills when that outro hits at 10:00. Great video KTO
As a Browns fan, I really hope that Gordon gets going in Kansas City. He was so fun to watch
Nah he'll be cut by the chiefs
Tell me about it, that year that he absolutely went off actually made watching your team lose fun.👍
Blackmon and josh Gordon had so much potential had they dealt with there off field issues
But Joe Mixon can play?
AJ Jenkins has to be one of the worst picks of all time. How often does a first round receiver get moved after their rookie season? Picks like that make me question how Trent Baalke got a second chance
Well as a Jaguar fan I can confirm Baalke is trash lol.
San Fran should have fired their draft scouts after 2012. I mean seriously how do you draft a guy in the 1st round who can't play???
I’m an Illinois fan and I remember watching him. The quarterback made him look really good with a ton of targets and big plays. I can see how they fell for him, especially after that 2011 northwestern game
@@theman1412 People also want to give them the benefit of the doubt and say in hindsight it looks like a bad decision, but it was a bad decision at the time and they provided no reasoning or defensibility for why they drafted him so high.
@@BMoney77 facts bro. He's gotta go.

Your outros the 🐐
You could totally make a video talking about everyone in that one pic of the giants on the boat in like 2016 right before they fell apart. “where are they now” lmao
I get unreasonably excited when a new KTO video comes out.
The 49ers were better off drafting a long-snapper in the first round over that *MEGA BUST* AJ Jenkins!
At least the long snapper could've played like 15 years and would've been solid at least.
AJ Jenkins Is My JV Football coach he is not the head coach but works with the receivers Oviedo Florida Masters Academy
Nice vid man keep it up
Can't wait for the 2020 version of this in ten years. Also a very talented class with a fair amount of weird stuff in the works (coughcoughHenryRuggscough)
Blackmon would have been an multi year all pro. He comes from an amazing family in Ardmore (OK) and is a great kid. Just had a disease. He’s better now and still the greatest WR I’ve ever watched in college.
gotta love a KTO vid
Good video. Still have to do that 2014 WR class though.
I should have known KTO would somehow bring this back around to the Browns by video's end 😂 Love it, keep up the good work 👍
I miss watching Ryan Broiles play in college. The dude was SICK!!
Looking at that 2012 draft list now, the successes mainly come from defense and O-line. WR was definitely underwhelming in comparison.
qb??? Luck, RG3,COusins, Tannehill and Nick FOles
@@Unknown-we4ii RG3 - 1 year then fell off a cliff. Luck - ruined by those incompetent fools Irsay and Grigson despite his talent. Cousins - middle of the pack. Tannehill - eventual upside but still not someone you could have as the primary threat. Foles - The dream run but again not the main guy. If you're talking longevity and depth, defense and O-line defined that draft.
@@lastsinnersa8002 Imagine calling a guy who has 25 td's and 3 interceptions middle of the pack
How do y’all forget Russell Wilson?! Smh
@@ceebee312 I thought Wilson as a given
Saw Brain Quick on the list, he was always around the NFL and had at least 2 decent seasons (I think), I'd always nab him in madden and he was just one of the more slower WR's in the game
Yeah I remember Liver Quick his cousin. He played fullback
I remember old Brain Quick. We called him BQ for short. Do you remember his other cousin Duodenum Quick? He drop kicked extra points. Great guy, Ol' Duodenum.
Gotta go back and watch some Floyd highlights from college. He had some incredible catches. Wish you couldve showed some of those
What’s the story behind everyone doing the Stone Cold Steve Austin “WHAT!” after Goodell says the pick number? Lmao
KTO you should make a video about this college football football season just like the one you made about the 2007 season. Both seasons have been insane and that is to this day my favorite video
Yeah that was a MF season to remember I won on alot of upsets including Appalachian State vs Michigan game!
Yeah I loved that video
As a pats fan I will never forget Micheal Floyd’s block against the dolphins for Edelmans touchdown reception or the fact he was apart of the super bowl comeback even if he was inactive
If Blackmon didn’t have his issues, that Sacksonville team coulda won the Super Bowl
If pigs cud fly
@@mostknownunknown1110 At this point the only way Jags could rebuild
The goat has officially uploaded😌
Great Video.
Being from Illinois I was so hyped for AJ Jenkins when he got drafted in the 1st, shame that his NFL career didn’t pan out
I saw Ryan Broyles on that list. I was actually neighbors with him in Michigan while he was playing for the Lions. He could've been such an amazing receiver if it wasn't for injuries
Love the What!? After evey Goodell sentence 😂
I remember the Bears needed a WR so I followed the WR class closely. Alshon Jeffery had one of the most impressive college tapes I have ever seen. Not only did he make some highlight catches, he did it over some big name guys. That class was stacked too....don't reach for a player if the position is too deep.
My alma mater plays Concordia-Saint Paul every year. Would have had no idea that Michael Floyd was there coaching. I heard mentions that he was back in Saint Paul, but that threw me for a loop when you brought that up.
I remember Floyd in high school (he was a year ahead of me). My high school never played against him that I can recall, but every week his highlights were all over the weekly news.
Just got off work!! Lets go!!
The ending 🔥🔥🔥
The 3rd round of that draft gave us Rusell Wilson and TY Hilton, two seriously great players. How on earth did all the scouts and GMs and coaches overlook them? Oh wait, they're both kinda short.
the name blackmon brings bad memories
Two of the biggest "What If" in the same draft. Incredible.
I’d love to see a video about the 2012 QB class.
KTO = GOAT
I knew u were gonna end it with jg, gave me chills
Man Blackmon was a beast! Hate that we didn't don't get to see him through 10yrs
Liked the video while scoring a TD with Bo Jackson in Tecmo
Giant Oklahoma State fan here he’s still loved around the program but he never really came around until recently wish him nothing but the best in his future!
when you end the video with a browns highlight, it just makes me happy.
Watching videos like this really makes you wonder if that NFL dream is really worth it. I feel bad for a lot of these guys. Some come from bad childhoods, and football may be their only way out. They go in the league, make a few "big" off-field mistakes, and their career is basically over.
Josh Gordan was a beast in Cleveland when he had his shit together.
A true highlight of some terrible browns teams. It's a shame he never played a full season in Cleveland
The fact he led the league in rec yds with the rotation of backup QBs throwing to him, was suspended 3 games, and admitted he would show up drunk or high every game is insane
*Sees a KTO upload*
OKAY IT’S HAPPENING. EVERYBODY STAY CALM
Blackmon was my teammate in Jacksonville. This guy was mishandled by Jax(suprised? Me Either) and they knew he was in need of help as he was dealing with serious alchohol problems. He was ABSOLUTELY an UNBELIEVABLLY talented player and was on pace to be an ELITE WR. I personally think it was a mistake for the Jags not to be more proactive in helping to get Justin help. I think this was a situation where you have to hold a young guys hand and keep him out of trouble yourself to protect your investment. In the end, they distanced themselves and that was what really changed everything for Justin. He just was not able to shake the demons. Loved the guy because he loved football. Sad and tragic. Hope he has found some kind of peace of mind at this point.
Thank you
Man I had to literally FEAR Justin Blackmon every year he was at OSU as an OU fan. I was so convinced he was gonna tear the league up for the next 10 years.
That is incredible to actually pull off getting two consecutive 200 yard receiving games. I mean he must have just been that much better than the other receivers on the browns sure, but still it would take so much to do that
idk why i have more than a season and a half’s worth of memories watching blackman play.
