I don't think Seattle made a mistake with a pass. An unsuccessful run on 2nd down forces you to pass it on 3rd and 4th down. Lynch was not a great goal line rusher. The problem is the pick route Seattle wanted to go with, their wide receiver core was not built for that which is why Malcolm Butler easily jumped the route after recognizing the play. Seattle should've tried the goal line fade with Chris Matthews. Matthews had been the hot hand for that entire playoff run including 109 yards in that Super Bowl.
Hell, if Seattle ran the ball, they should've gone read option with Wilson carrying since New England bit on the Running Back on read option plays all season. Hell, Wilson had been successful twice carrying with the read option in that game.

He was easily my favorite Eagles growing up as a kid in South Philly, living 2 miles away from The Vet. The one thing I would have mentioned in this video is a large part of why Randall didn't have the success he could have in his prime were the offensive lines he had to play behind and the lack of a true offensive coordinator with the vision to use his talents. The Eagles had one of the worst lines in the league for many years. Ron Heller was dirty, but awful and a guy like Ron Solt was way past his prime. They struck out on every attempt to draft line (Antone Davis) and Randal was always running for his life. Buddy just thought Randall could "make a couple big plays" a game than rather bring in someone to use his talent.
That said, if Bryce Paup doesn't take out his knee in 1991, there is a different story to this as this was finally going to be the year the Eagles could win the Super Bowl. It's a shame, but that is how it goes sometimes. Mix in injuries and ego that helped the downfall as well to what should have been an all-time great. He is still an unreal talent that wowed me as a child and to this day I am still a fan of Randall Cunningham. Fly Eagles Fly!

Lost in all the highlights he put up was one absolutely indisputable fact: of all the QBs of his era, Randall Cunningham had _by far_ the strongest arm. Proof? Every summer, when QBs would do their annual "QB Challenge" prior to the start of the season, Randall would win the distance-throwing challenge without question, and it wasn't even close. Not only that, but all the other QBs would actually stand on the sidelines and gasp in awe at just how far he could fling the ball. Remember: we're talking about QBs like Montana, Aikman, Young, Marino, Kelly, Elway, etc., and _they_ were admiring Randall's arm.

Just like Doug Williams, RC showed his full potential as a passer with great pass-blocking. RC was only sacked 20 times in 1998. Those horrible O-lines in Philly forced him to scramble and run. Additionally, the O-line that Dennis Green built provided Cunningham with a running game so that the focus wasn't all on him.

I was an adult when Cunningham hit his stride. Quarterback of the Future was the SI cover, with RC morphing from dropping back to running. I remember him most for 2 things - that Banks hit and TD that I watch on tv, which was unreal. And the 15-1 Vikings that had a SB date with the SB champion Broncos (the 2 best records in the league) getting derailed when Anderson, who hadn't missed a field goal ALL FREAKING YEAR chose the NFC championship game to miss his first (at home) and send the Falcons to the Bronco's woodshed. Everybody wanted to see those Vikings take on the Broncos. Madden was actually cheering for that match-up. It would have been the culmination of Randall's amazing comeback. Win or lose it would have been a sensational game. But it was the greatest game that never was. Anderson joined Bill Buckner that day in professional sports ignobility.

Randall Cunningham wasn't selfish or anything like that...that whole "ME" time period was brought on because of Buddy Ryan. Buddy never made a game plan...he told Randall to go make something happen...LITERALLY. But Buddy would take the accolades...all the credit when the EAGLES won. Buddy would draft bums for the offensive line...then Buddy got fired. Enter dumber than a box of rocks Richie Kotite...who HATED Randall Cunningham. Hated the running quarterback. Never really knew the west coast offense...but tried implementing the offense anyway.
Thats why Reggie left. Seth Joyner left. Eric Allen left. Clyde Simmons left. Jerome Brown died. Injuries happen...but Kotite would go to the media to try and communicate with Randall Cunningham...the star of his team?
    A shitshow for sure.
