You know, I watch many bow reviews and it’s almost always the same. Smooth draw, solid backwall, real quiet, but with your reviews we actually get some actual data and not just word of mouth. IMHO other reviewers should take note. Thanks for your reviews, you just picked up anew subscriber.
THANK YOU! Nice of you to say! God bless you.
Thank you for you hard work sir. I have learned so much from watching your videos. It became time to upgrade my bow and your testing and insights made a tough decision much easier.
You are welcome. Thanks for watching. God bless you.
I have ordered 1 bow tech reign 6 upon your recommendations. Your comments on the comfort settings made the deal.
Wow, great. Thanks! I'm shooting the Reign 7 on comfort setting right now.
Just to let you know I am from Malaysia. Superb videos. Very informative.
whats the cost Syed?
Im in KL and I shoot a Bowtech Fuel now..
Hi Sean, my name's Emiliano, i'm your italian follower and i had been watched all your videos on your youtube channel. I'm just a little more than a rookie in bowhunting world but i think to have a grea passion in it and your video tutorial helped me to improve my capacity and hunting technical. In Italy there are few archery shops and they are very far from my country, a lot expensive, and not so available to give tips. For example in this mounth while i'm triyng to find a spare parts EA camsets, for my old bowtech allegiance, i called 4 Italy archery shops but they answer me that they sell new or used complete bows and few spare parts . I was a little angry for this reason so i've decided to buy a new bow but not from Italian store. For this reason I want to thank you because thanks to your dedicated test video about 2017 bowtech regin 6 i've just buyed a new one in stock from a store from pennsylvania with included a CBE TACTIC 5-Pin .019" Micro Adjustable Bow Hunting Sight and a Trophy Ridge Sync MD Right Hand Arrow Rest and all inittially setted in comfort mode and after a right practice i will switch it in performance mode. It should be shipped in a mounth and i'm eagerly to use it. I'm sorry for my bad english but i hope you'll been understanded me. Thank you sean and best regards Emy
Thank you. That is a very nice bow. I hope you enjoy it. God bless you and stay safe.
Very appreciated that you take the time and give honest, non biased reviews. It's a huge help to anyone who can't decide on which bow to purchase. Looking forward to the halon review as that's what I'm looking to purchase. Thank you Sean!
Brian, that is great to hear! Glad you liked it. God bless you!
Hi just wanted to say thanks for doing these videos. It helped me make the choice of buying the bowtech reign 6. Love the bow and I'm glad I got it. It is truly all the hype it was getting. Thanks for all you do!!
Thanks for the feedback, Mike! I actually gave my honest feedback, and I got a BowTech Reign 7 and it just impresses me so much when I shoot it. I'm just so impressed by that bow I don't know how to fully put it into words. And, I put my review out before anyone else had, so I was essentially in the front of the pack on that one. Again, thanks for sharing, and God bless you.
Great job as always!! I think we all would love it if you could get your hands on the Athens line of bows. Especially the Revelation. Lots of talk about that one this year.
That would be great. Wish they would help me get my hands on them around here, but not one carries them. So sad.
Hi Sean - really great reviews - thanks!
- I also have reviewed bows some years ago - one thing you might consider to measure, is how easy the bows are to twist in the hand due to wrong grip etc.
In a hunting situation you might not always have the opportunity to have the perfect grip - with gloves on, standing i awkward shooting positions, frozen hands etc.
Some bows are really sensitive to this issue and some not at all - but very important in a hunting situation.
Just my 2 cents - again really really great rewiews - some of the best I have seen!
BR
Morten
Thanks, I will keep that in mind when I do the next series and see if I have a good way of testing and rating that within the context of all the other tests I will be doing. God bless, and thanks for watching.
I agree a lot of people overlook how sensitive some bows are to different ways you grip your bow. When shooting from extreme angles, twisting around shooting behind the tree, etc.. I recommend that you shoot your bow out of the type of stand u plan on hunting out of.. Loc On style, Metal platform types, Climber stands etc.. Practice how u hunt with the same bulky clothes, face masks, gloves, etc. Also practice shooting at extremely close downward angles, And watch your bows bottom limb n cam so after the shot it doesnt slam into your stand. Ive done this twice and learned the hard way... Good Luck to all this Season!👍🏹
Sean. I just shot the reign 6 for the first time tonight. Wow....all I can say! Lol. I haven't shot a bow in YEARS that made such an impact on me. I was deciding on this or the halon 32. Close but the bowtech was super quiet. Absolutely dead in the hand after the arrow left. I can't believe how quiet it was!! I was shooting 28 inch draw 70 lb. on comfort setting.
Yeah, really nice bow! Enjoy yourself. God bless you.
Nice review! I especially liked how you did the comparison between the comfort and performance settings.
A couple suggestions:
Screw your field tips down tighter. When your arrows are vibrating around it's hard to tell how loud the bow is.
Maybe add a more middle of the road arrow to your speed test. Something in the low to mid 400s would be awesome.
I screw in the tips after every shot. The noise of the bow is much louder than anything the tips could make anyway, and the meter logs the loudest overall noise burst. As for the 400s, while you could look at the difference in the arrow weight and pick a speed in the middle and get a good idea where it would be every 100 grain incremental increase, I will think about it. But I am already adding so many data capturing things for next year I'm not sure if time will permit another round of arrows per bow.
You are a class act... great reviews. Much respect from ct.
Thanks so much. I am honored you think so. God bless you!
Really enjoyed your review. I'm looking forward to the Halon 32 video. Hopefully you'll test the 7" brace version as all the other reviews are of the 5" & 6" brace versions.
Thanks so much! The review is up if you want to check it out. God bless you.
Another great video Sean!! Looking for a new bow myself!
GREAT, thanks for watching and thanks for saying that. God bless you
Thank You Sean, another great honest review!
Thanks so much, Christopher. Glad you liked it. God bless you and thanks for watching.
Fantastic review sir!!! Very detailed and professional! Subscribed!
Thanks Gary. Glad you liked it. God bless you.
Another great review Sean! Keep it up!
Thanks!
love the video as always my man! great work!
Thanks so much, Jerry! God bless you and I appreciate you watching!
Thanks for uploading these videos👍
You are welcome. God bless you.
Just subscribed. I've been wanting to get into archery, and I wanted to do a lot of research before purchasing a bow. Lots of good information on your channel and these reviews are very helpful. Both my girlfriend and my niece have Diamond Edge SB-1's. I want something a bit "higher-end". This review has got me really leaning to the Reign 6. Are you going to be doing a review of the Bear series (LS6, Moment, Escape)?
Nevermind. Just scrolled down a bit and read where you wouldn't be able to review the Bear series. I'll still wait for your final analysis. Thanks.
The Reign 6 is a really nice bow.
Kind of interesting. The reign 7 in comfort mode kinda has same speed and specs as the PSE evo nxt 33. Only reason i only looked at comfort mode is because the evo nxt 33 isnt a speed bow yet rather a smooth drawing bow
Thanks I haven't gotten to shoot the Evo. Long annoying story I won't bore you with
Sean you make the best reviews on the Internet thank you. Do you think it is possible you can do a review between the Bear Cruzer and Diamond SB-1?
Diamond Edge SB-1**
Hi Johnny. No one is carrying the Bear Cruzer anywhere around here, which makes it impossible for me to do a review on it and I contacted Bear Archery earlier this year asking them to help me do a review on their bows, but they didn't even respond. As such, let me tell two of the most obvious differences between the bows. The Diamond has solid limbs and no yoke system on the cables whereas the bear Cruzer has split limbs and a double yoke system. This will come into play in the tuning of the bow. The rest of the specs are fairly similar with draw length, draw weight, and estimated speed. While the double yoke system of the Bear gives you a little more ability to tune the bow adding or removing cam lean, the Diamond would force you to do all of the tuning by moving the arrow rest, and that also makes the long-term tuning easier for a beginner who doesn't have a bow press, because you don't need to press a bow to add or remove twist to the cables and yokes. You can still tune the Bear by just moving the rest around, but with a double yoke system you have more of a chance of cables or yokes stretching over time needing to be adjusted etc... Thus, the Diamond would require a little less maintenance in tuning over time (in most instances). For that reason, I might recommend the Diamond for simplicity sake for a beginner. Hope that helps. God bless you.
good review better than any others i bought reign 6 i love it
did you find that the7 was easer to pull than the 6
Thanks so much!!! God bless you, Jim!
They actually felt about the same to me.
My reign 6 @ 70lb & 29" on performance only shoots 328 fps with 350 gr arrow.....by my calculations it's around 10 fps off IBO rating.
That 1 inch of draw length is costing you about 10 fps. I have a reign 6 as well and love it btw, but changing the draw length is super easy. Try bumping it out to 30inches on draw length, its gonna feel awkward to shoot but your only doing so for the purposes of shooting ibo then bump it back down. I bet you get 340 fps +/- 2 fps. Let me know if you end up trying it
thanks
Excellent Job as usual.
Wow, thanks so much! God bless you!
Fantastic! Love the review!
Thanks, Al! Glad you liked it. God bless you!
I really like your reviews. You always use science than verbal BS . Your arrows duplicate real ibo speed too. Keep up the great work. Thank you. Regards Victor..
Thanks Victor, I appreciate that. God bless you and thanks for watching.
you're doing a fantastic job appreciate it so much will send money when I get paid
Wow, thanks so much, William. Glad to hear it. God bless you!
you should try the new the PSE evolve ecs cams. They have 90% letoff and a solid back wall. I personally dont like the 90% letoff but it is a great bow. Looking to get the reign 6 when i have the money.
Yeah, it is nice, and it is probably what I will be shooting now that I am on the Drury Outdoors team. Here is the link to the review I did on it - ruclips.net/video/fXzg_perUz8/видео.html
Perfect review!
Thanks so much! Glad you liked it. God bless you.
Thanks Sean
You are so welcome, Adrian. God bless you!
Just started learning about bows, and you have some of the best videos on RUclips. Question... I think I am going to buy one of these bows. In what world would you pick the 7 over the 6? I am 6' and guessing I'll be a 29 to 29.5 draw length.
I'm 31 inch draw length so I have to use a 7. If not, I'd probably go with a 6, but some people feel as though the larger brace height is more forgiving so they go with a 7 if they want a little extra help from the bow if their form isn't the best. God bless you.
Sean's Outdoor Adventures God bless you as well!
it would be cool if you did comparison to used older bows 2004-2012 to newer bows for those who want to get into archery and find a used bow a better option
I wish I had the time to do that and access to old bows to do that, but that is a little out of my reach right now.
Very good review
Thanks
Hey Sean! Thank you for your videos.
Tommorow im going to Look at the reign 6 and 7 at my local proshop. they have some hold overs and are selling them for $699. according to this video im leaning toward the 6. One thing i was wondering in your video around the 12:36 mark, was the noise of the 6 compared to the 7 on the comfort level. you said the 6 was the quietest bow you ever rewviewed, but the 7 was quieter wasnt it? not that it matters that much. In your opinion what one would you suggest, any changes in your thoughts on these two bows since your video? Thanks again for the excellent information!
Travis
They are both good. I’ve been shooting a 7 because of my draw length but I’d say they are both good. I haven had any limb issues yet so that’s a plus.
I just recently bought the reign 7 and I've noticed that the cables are nearly touching if not touching were it comes out of the cable guard is that the way it should from the factory.
They should not be physically touching but are typically close. If they are touching thin it's possible they are in the wrong slot and might need to be switched.
@@seansoutdoors its so close maybe a cigarette paper gap if that but because I haven't got a press I can't swap them over, I'm going to get a portable press and have a play.
Mate I REALLY appreciate your help and quick responses, the closest shop is 200 miles away and there not much help ether
Try to watch the movement of them as you draw the bow to see if it gets any worse or better, but they should not come in contact during the draw process.
If budget allows would this be an ideal first bow for a new bow hunter? On their website it says 50,60,70lb draw weight. So are you able to easily switch it to pull at 50-60? Strength isn't an issue but I'm sure it's easier to learn technique with lower draw weight. Also I've heard of bows with 80lb draw weight but ive never even heard of one advertised as such, is that a custom thing or just a very expensive profession bow? Thanks for the content i've been through like 15 of your videos today & subscribed as well!
To have this as a first bow you might get a little spoiled with the quality compared to price-point bows that are a bit less expensive. The draw weight range is 10 pound increments, so if you get the 60 pound limb, you will be able to adjust from 50 to 60. Manufacturers will typically make an 80 pound limb, and you generally have to special order them because shops don't sell many of them so they don't stock them. Some people are either really strong, or they are just trying to get the fastest bow they possibly can, so if they can pull that much weight, they try to. I had an 80 pound limb bow when I was younger. It's just not necessary with the way bows are made now. It also helps if you have a longer draw length. For instance, I have a 31 inch draw, and I was shooting a BowTech Insanity CPXL back in 2012. I had it set at 63 pounds and I was shooting faster arrows at 5 grains per pound than a guy who had 80 pound limbs of the Insanity CPX with 80 pound limbs and shooting it at the 80 pounds. His draw length was a lot shorter than mine. Typically, I've seen an average of 7 to 10 feet per second per inch of draw length depending on the bow. Anyway, have fun with. Get out there and shoot a couple bows before you decide, but that BowTech is pretty darn nice and hard to beat. When that thing goes off you almost can't feel it, which is simply impressive, and you essentially get two bows in one with the cam shift technology, which is genius. God bless ya.
I feel yourt review was much strict on xpedition vs bowtech, funny thing is I shot these bows side by side cause I can't decide between the 2 but I think I like xpediotin better.
The difference was that Cy from Expedition had a draw board I could use and also he had a spot where I could check the draw weight. I did not have access to either of those at any of the other places I did reviews at. That is why I was asking for some fan support so that I could get a portable drawboard for next year, but that seemed like a fruitless request as no one has contributed.
Hello love all your videos very informative. Do you have this same info on the Hoyt Pro Defiant (2017)? Thank you
Yes ruclips.net/video/sEtUR3G3irM/видео.html
I just got a reign 6 after watching your reviews. my local bow dealer doesn't have the correct press for the bowtech. do you know the actual press needed so I can put in a peep without messing up my strings. thx
The owners manual says it has to press on the tips of the limbs like the finger style press
I was gonna go with 7 over 6 at 29 inch draw for two reasons it had a smoother draw then the 6 n the 6 hit the sleeve of my very baggy coat while I am in a tree stand I don't want to worry about clearance but now after seeing ur review it seems the 7 isn't as efficient as the 6 you have me confused as to which one I should get now lol
You will be just fine with the 7! It isn't as fast, but speed isn't always the biggest thing. As I said, you will be fine with the 7. Good luck and God bless.
I know it's not as fast but I would hope it would be the same as the 6 on comfort when on performance
The 7 on performance will be in the same area of speed as the 6 on comfort.
Sean's Outdoor Adventures I know buddy but ur tests showed a significant speed drop others tests put it at Ibo or very close so I'm hoping poundage was down n draw length was a little short in ur test but I enjoy all ur videos u da man sean
Yeah, next year I am simply going to have to buy a portable draw board so that I can verify the bows that these shops are setting up.
I've was told by the shop that the reign can go from 50 to 70lb, is this true
They typically are ten pound incruments
Hey Sean..what release are you using? Im currently using a spot hog wiseguy, which I like, but I find it too touchy to effectively apply back tension. Thanks.
In this video, I was using a Fletcher Outsider release but I only used that during the review. I am hunting with the Spot Hogg Whipper Snapper. I love that release! However, if you prefer the finger trigger style, I hunted with the TRU BALL short and sweet last year and the trigger is better for me than the one you use. I didn't get that release you have because the trigger was too touchy for me as well, but I like a swept back trigger. God bless you
Sean's Outdoor Adventures thank you. You do great work.
THANKS!
Sean, could you please do a similar review of the Bear Moment?
I contacted Bear bows to ask them if they would help me review their bows because no one carries them around here and they didn't respond to my request. As such, I will not be able to review Bear this year unless something changes. I will keep trying to get them to help me review them.
Thanks for the quick reply.
You are welcome, William. I will be trying to get a review on it, but I can't make any promises that it will work out.
I have the reign 7, and is there a difference in pulling the bow back with the comfort or performance, does the performance feel harder to pull back?
Performance definitely feels a lot different in the draw cycle, and could be considered a little harder to pull, but not a lot. However, it does add a good bit of speed. God bless you.
Sean's Outdoor Adventures thank you, I up here in Minnesota and archery season starts September 16th, can't wait and good luck for you're season man
Any chance you'll post a chart with all your bow numbers on your website? Thank you!
Yeah, I have been mailing it out to people on my newsletter list on my website. God bless and thanks for watching!
Know it's last years model, but can you do a review on the mathews no cam htx? Thks!
I did the no cam two years ago with Lancaster Archery.
Sean's Outdoor Adventures can you send me the link? Thks
I is at the 5 minute mark ruclips.net/video/OqsLr82bt-w/видео.html
Will you be doing reviews on the new BowTech Realm and Realm X any time soon?
I'm probably going to start recording my reviews early this year. Typically I wait to January and February to get started, but I looking to get some recorded in December if I can.
Awesome! I'm looking to pick up a new bow this year, and your reviews seem very helpful. There are not many dealers in my area. The closest shop is an hour away and they all seem to carry only one of the bigger name brands. I appreciate what your doing, keep it up!
So would you prefer the reign 6 or the 7 if you were purchasing one?
If I only had a 30 inch draw I would get a 6, but as such, I have a 31 inch draw so I couldn't even shoot a 6.
What about the limbs, have they finaly changed them? They had some serious problems in the last few years with those limbs.
I specifically addressed that in the video. I guess you skipped over that part or something... Yes, the limb coating seems noticeably different than it was in the past.
You're right, I skipped that part. Sorry about that. Thx
I have the opportunity to buy a 2015 bowtech prodigy used, is this in the years where the limbs are sketchy?
Yes. Some limbs just flaked off the top coating, some actually broke, but the flaking was the most common problem people had. For the flaking, BowTech was offering one set of new limbs for a bow.
Anyway you could get your hands on a carbon icon?
I'll see if I can in the next review season. God bless ya.
What draw length was used? 29 or 30 inch
30
What bow do you shoot Sean?
Currently an elite Rezult
Any thoughts on the carbon icon?
I haven't shot one but the people I have been in contact that have one really like it a lot.
Do you have to buy new cams to change the draw length?
No, all the draw length adjustments are right on the cam with this bow
what about the halon u shot
You have to buy separate draw modals with each draw length for the Halon.
do a review on the mathuewes no cam
I did one two years ago at Lancaster Archery.
what do you prefer the bowtech reign 6 or the pse evole? Can you give me some reasons why you like one more than the other, thank you God bless.
BowTech. It was faster and quieter in my test results. I also own both and prefer the Reign .
Thank you Sir God bless.
Reign6 vs realm which one u taking?
I'd go with the Realm. They have a more robust looking limb.
Id go with the realm x. I have a reign 6 and do love it but sean does have a point about the limbs and the limb pockets for that matter on the realm series. The realm x is a super stable, fast, forgiving bow
so which is better the 6 or 7?
If you have a draw length 30 inches or less, I would go with the 6. If 31 inch draw, then you'd have to go with the 7. The 6 was faster and still very quiet.
Do you like the Denali?
YES, loving it!
what bow are you shooting in 2018?
Not sure yet. How about you?
redwrx turbo
347 is moving
Enjoy the move
Do Bowtech limbs still break?
All of the pro shops I have talked to said they are not having any problems with the bowtechs they have sold so far this year. Some people have commented on my video that they heard of someone or know someone who had limbs blow up and took it to the pro shop and the pro shop opened a box with a new bow and the limbs were split, which sounded like a load of crap the way it was presented, so I called him on it and asked for the name of the pro shop so I could call and verify and the person never responded. Hence, you get people badmouthing BowTech saying that someone they know had a limb break but so far none have turned up any verifiable facts. So, I am still under the impression that they have corrected the problem.
Thanks for the reply Sean The reason why I asked is because I am new to archery. I just bought me a Bowtech Prodigy. I hope that bow have the newer improved limbs that won't break on me.
My buddy had a prodigy and loved it. Shot it for over a year with no problems. I would suggest just shoot it and enjoy it and not worry about them breaking or anything. If it happens, then deal with it, but don't let it distract your shooting in the meantime. Archery takes focus so clearing the junk out of your head is important. Good luck with it. God bless you.
Thanks! God bless u too!
Thank you!
