Wow! Some rather rude comments. Definitely not representative of the majority of the archery community. I enjoyed the review, and completely understand the “blind” test perspective. Your reaction to each bow in comparison to what you were used to was refreshing and honest. Anyone can find specs on those bows, as well as reviews from highly respected experts in the archery field. The problem with many reviews is the bias due to sponsorships and preconceived ideas/biases. Your’s was not necessarily a review of the bows, just an honest reaction to them. Thanks for being willing to share your thoughts.
Thanks so much. That is exactly what I intended on presenting with the video. Some people just like to find the bad in things. I’m a little stumped for what to do for a video next, now that I’ve shot other bows aside from my own. Thank you for watching my video! Hope to see you in the comments again!
@Brant_Moore awesome bro! I’d really like to see a video of all the 2018/19 bows and how they compare to each other because I buy a bow every year and it may be a prime one year Hoyt the next just whatever I like more . But I think you’re the guy for the job haha awesome video man!!!!!
I’m not a RUclips comment guy but I could tell by dudes look, form and lack of knowledge that there was going to be hate on here. It’s a shame. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US had to start somewhere... If we stuck together like the anti’s did we would be much better off imho. As far as the hair... You’re on your own there buddy hah. Jk. Keep it up and good review.
Haha Thank you. I find it strange how so many people act as if any of those things affect the ability to feel a difference between two different bows. Also just goes to show how muddied the waters are by people who care way more about the details than they do just going out and having a good time in the outdoors. Have only shot at two deer with this bow I knew almost nothing about and watched both fall. Can't hate on that.
Damn good video man seriously seriously refreshing to see someone not get super technical and over think everything and just react like a human being to what their shooting. All of these are good bows no going wrong here and please please keep this up, archery needs this. Don’t pay attention to the bs on here about your form or knowledge everyone has an opinion and most probably have their own issues with both of those things.
Enjoyed the review. Very interesting getting that perspective about new bows. I've watched dozens of archery reviews from "experts" about likes and dislikes that they have. Really liked the unbiased virgin-like reaction. You should do some reviews on some other brands and models.
Thank you! I've definitely heard that there is a lot of bias in this world. I really would like to review other models and brands if I can get my hands on them. Really not sure how to go about that though. Thank you again! Hope to see you in the comments again!
Thanks so much! And haha you’re 100% right on that one. It comes in every aspect of my life. RUclips, archery apparently, BMX. Just gotta use it as fuel!
Good unbiased review of how the bows felt. As for the vibration, your mathews is fully set up. If those other bows had a good stabalizer you would be talking about how vibration free they are.
Dont forget his old bow only has one cam, so the round wheel on the top will make it smoother with less shock (and less speed). There are also two string stops on his old bow. The traditional string stop, as well as the string stop up near the top wheel (green block).
Absolutely. A fully set up reign 6 would definitely be my bow of choice right now if I could just have anything. As much as I don’t like the look of split limbs. Haha
I was out there too and my only experience was with a golden eagle from high school and my current cheap bow. I shot the evolve and that reign 6 and I felt the same way you did. I still haven't decided which to buy but being inexperienced I was just like that. F these "pro's" who think there's only one way to shoot. Prolly think all pitchers have to throw one way and hitters can only stand 1 way!
bro that's awesome!!!! I just seen this video, I love that bow I just haven't had enough money to buy one lol. The my friend had one and I shot it a bit ,I'm more of a recurve traditional Archer but any archery in my opinion is awesome
All these people making rude comments about this guy about how he looks . Who gives a shit . Like your someone from the back holler big tough man . Get a life man . I'm damn sure the deer don't give a shit about this guy's hair scumbag . I think he did a awesome job on this review . Awesome review bro 🤘🤘
Thank you man, its nice to know see that not everyone cares more about other people's appearance than the point of the video itself. Kinda weird that grown men care so much about my hair...hahaha
Hell yeah! My first two deer did not go that same way haha. This touches on another point... you can know your bow inside and out, have perfect form and that doesn’t help you at the moment of truth. For the most part you’re a killer and can make it happen or you’re not. That’s not written in stone and people can get better under pressure but that takes a ton of experience. You smoke your first two deer .... let the shop worry about specs and you just fill the freezer 🤙🏼
Exactly!! And I don't remember looking down on others as part of the outdoors way of life I've grown up with. All that matters is being out there, being safe, and not wounding animals.
hahahaha!!! HEY MAN, I liked archery with disheveled hair and perfectly places beanies before it was cool! hahaha I finished the video and noticed how crazy my hair was and could only laugh. But ill be the hipster archer if thats what the people want! P.S. Thank you for subscribing!
Haha. This made me laugh. I started something that now has my buddies calling me the Original Hipster Hunter. I was sighting in my new IQ Define while having some beer (I know..bad role model). Anyways, I told them that im a full on hipster now....I have a beard, drink PBR and wear skinny jeans because my fat a** gained weight so they're too small lol. Just to be dicks they bought me a camo scarf to go with my beard and PBR haha.
I hate to hear that Mathew is the only bow you have shot. I do like that your second choice was Bowtech. Once you add minimal accessories to all three bows, the vibration goes away. I wish you would have picked 3 different bows, the Realm and Realm X are to identical. Also wish you picked 3 bows that compare to yours better. Like the Realm, Reign 7 and Carbon Icon. Great review. Thanks.
Well, the Heli-M wasn’t a decision made by me. It was a college graduation gift/trade in on my old crossbow. I do really like my bow, and it has done the job for me for the past 2 years. Which is why I never actually thought about shooting another bow. Haha If there is access to other bows in the future, I definitely will do videos on them as well. It was really fun to shoot these. Thank you for the constructive feedback and kind words! Hope to see you around my channel again!
Ok well not your decision, ok. Ill let you slide then lol. I love your reaction after your first shot with bowtech, Hmmm right off the bat... i think ill shoot another.
Haha While I do love my bow, I don’t think I would be disappointed had it been any other flagship bow. The bowtech’s were awesome to shoot and definitely makes me wish mine had a deeper valley. There will be more videos with them in the future. If I can manage to get a deer!
You got a positive attitude & enjoying what your doing. Stay interested in archery, and more importantly stay happy. After years of skateboarding / pro riding, I had to eventually stop riding the kick skate cause of age & injuries. That was a tuff time. I had a buddy turn me onto bow hunting & 12 years later I’m still loving archery & hunting. Learn some more about technique & bows & it just becomes a great gig to be a part of. Lastly, fuck anyone that had/has some dumb shit to say!
Thanks man. BMX will be there until I can’t ride any more, but the outdoors have been in my life since wayyyy before BMX!! It’s awesome to hear how you got into it. Almost feels like it could be appreciated more getting into it at an older age. I’ve been in it so long it’s just life to hunt and fish. Hell yes. Thanks for the comment, definitely needed the positive energy
Do you mean set them up for comfort then set them up for performance? Sorry I'm not super knowledgable yet, obviously! haha Thanks for watching and thanks for being here!
@Brant_Moore Sorry for the delayed response. Bowtech's have a "flip disc" on each cam. One side says "comfort" and the other side of the disc says "performance". It's a quick change to make and it does change the draw cycle, valley, and speeds. Pretty great technology. Definitely worth checking out and seeing for yourself. I'd be interesting in seeing you do a video shooting the reign and realm in both comfort and performance settings and comparing them both to your mathews.
That’s so awesome that even exists! I definitely will do a video on that. Really hoping that there will be some free time before the holidays to get another archery video in. Thanks for coming back! Hope to see you in the comments again
I want one. Shame I live in a country where if I so much as own a slingshot without a licence, the police will be kicking my door down, armed with MP5s. Lol
You must live in the tyrannical dictatorship known as Australia. Here everyone knows....'government knows best' and if you don;'t know that, they'll teach you pretty darn quick
I have the Reign 7, and I was surprised they came out with a brand new flagship bow the year after. Nice to hear you liked the Reign better. Great video! Are you going to splurge and get a new bow?
I'll be completely honest here, I had no idea there was a Reign 7! That has me wondering what the difference is between that and the Reign 6 that I shot here since they are still offering it this year. I think I just liked the reign better because of how similar it felt to my heli-m. It was like a brand new version of it. Definitely can't afford a new bow right now, but maybe Bowtech will see this and help a guy out! haha Thanks for watching and subscribing!! Im working on another version of this now!
I like the honesty and he did say he hasn't shot anything but his bow and it's all he knows. I'll give it to ya, simple yet effective even with the hipster look it doesn't matter because it is your opinion. I state the same in reviews, if people don't like it, then shoot it yourself. Did you end up upgrading to any of the bowtechs or are ya still rocking the ol mathews?
Absolutely man, thank you. I still find it so funny that an entire group of people think a baseball tee with long hair and a visor beanie is what hipster is. Haha Google image search hipster just for laughs. Unfortunately I can’t afford a new bow and fortunately the Mathews is holding up well. Would absolutely love to rock the reign 6 even though it has split limbs and I love the single limb design of the Mathews.
enjoyed the video and the lack of what to expect. made it enjoyable to see your reaction. bows have come along way. check out Cameron Hanes. He's one hell of an archer/hunter(archery athlete) and very constructive. Good tips on drawing, holding, anchor points, and shear dedication. Check him out. Good video and good luck to ya.
Thank you! That’s exactly why I wanted to make it. An outside perspective is usually refreshing. I’ve seen Cams podcasts with Joe Rogan but hadn’t ever watched any of his videos. If I have troubles prepping for this year’s season I’ll definitely take a look. Thanks for watching and leaving your thoughts
I like this guy! He's like a millennial/hipster Robin Hood. And its obvious all 3 of those bows are spitting that arrow out far faster than the Mathews. The Mathews is pretty quiet, but it should be cause its SLOW
Hahahaha you guys really should google image search the word hipster. Robin Hood is a compliment though! Like I said in the video, I don’t know much. How much difference is 10-20 fps realistically?
Less vibration for sure...that was one of your talking points. My current set up is a Mathews Z2 and I'm going to test the realm. I really like the stats on paper. Will see how it shoots in person!
I just don’t care. Never gonna meet these people and they’re showing anyone who sees their comments how much of a piece of shit they are🤷🏼♂️ I also made a bunch of money from having fun making this video while they get to go to work every day to jobs they probably hate them come home to wives they settled for that probably bitch too much. Probably drink a bunch of beer and get drunk to deal with life till they get to do it again the next day…While I get to enjoy what my hard work has earned me. hahaha It really is funny when you think about it
@@Brant_Moore Come on mate.. don't just laugh at these idiots insults, stand up for yourself, Good comparison looking forward to picking up a reign 6 👍 (Edit: didn't see this was so old)
@@Brant_Moorehahahaha Fair enough I take it back I know too many of the type, Solid video none the less, did U end up getting a reign 6 I'm considering it even over the new realms.
@@dunno6442 hey thank you! It’s a bit outside the scope of my channel these days so it’s cool when comments pop up on these older videos. I couldn’t afford a new bow at the time and my Heli-M is still going strong so I’ve stuck with it
You're comparing a fully loaded Heli-m to bare bowtechs of course it's going to be quieter....put the same accessories on the bowtechs and then compare the noise. I think you'll be surprised at the difference.
Really to each their own. But if you learn without a kisser button then if your button get messed up while hunting or shooting no need to worry. You should try Hoyt rx1 and the double xl
Someone must've woken up on the wrong side of the bed today. The rookie part was clearly stated in the beginning. Hope your day gets better, and thank you for watching! :)
No hate, but if your going to do a review on youtube, you need more experience than 1 bow, w all due respect, you have no idea what you are comparing what
how is this a "blind test" ? this video might as well be paid advertisement with a noob shooter does do not know what or how to feel when not anchoring or even know how to. and no follow through to test the balance . the guy is even drawing the bows wrong.
+Morten Jacobsen Because I’ve never shot any other bow than my own and didn’t know anything about the bowtechs. Clearly I don’t know what I’m doing and never claim to. I’m sorry to have offended you so much with my video made just for fun never claiming to be a professional. Hope you have a better day man! Maybe give some actual constructive feedback next time.
+@Brant_Moore Blind in the sense that I only knew what my bow felt like and had absolutely no preconceived notions about the bowtechs. Obviously I’m not super knowledgeable either, so didn’t know what to expect or look for. The outcome could only be what I felt with no bias. Later I will do a typical blind test and do it between bows with no logos or labels showing.
@Brant_Moore I know I put you on the spot b4 but your drawing anchoring and trigger punching is just painful to watch. Look up Paige Gore. Look at her hand position anchor and how she shoots her carter release. We all have to start somewhere and I appreciate your review.

I’ll definitely be doing a video when the 2018/2019 bows come out from Bowtech
I had a bowtech admiral, the flagship of 2009. It was awesome but once I shot the reign 6 I bought it. Love it
Absolutely, I believe that any flagship will be a great bow for as long as it lasts.
But that Reign 6 was just awesome
All I know about you is BMX. Neat to see you shooting bows! I used to shoot a PSE Phaser....way back...way back...in the day as a kid.

Probably drink a bunch of beer and get drunk to deal with life till they get to do it again the next day…While I get to enjoy what my hard work has earned me. hahaha It really is funny when you think about it
@@Brant_Moore Come on mate.. don't just laugh at these idiots insults, stand up for yourself, Good comparison looking forward to picking up a reign 6 👍
(Edit: didn't see this was so old)
@@Brant_Moorehahahaha Fair enough I take it back I know too many of the type, Solid video none the less, did U end up getting a reign 6 I'm considering it even over the new realms.
@@dunno6442 hey thank you! It’s a bit outside the scope of my channel these days so it’s cool when comments pop up on these older videos.
I couldn’t afford a new bow at the time and my Heli-M is still going strong so I’ve stuck with it
Damn some of y’all are rude.
Heli-m is quieter than the bowtech
I hadn't even paid attention to that, youre right!
You're comparing a fully loaded Heli-m to bare bowtechs of course it's going to be quieter....put the same accessories on the bowtechs and then compare the noise. I think you'll be surprised at the difference.
Relax yr bow hand and slowly apply pressure to trigger do not punch trigger and learn to anchor without a kisser
Thank you for the feedback, Ill definitely try to!
What are the benefits to not using a kisser?
Why learn to anchor without kisser, if it works it works is say
Really to each their own. But if you learn without a kisser button then if your button get messed up while hunting or shooting no need to worry. You should try Hoyt rx1 and the double xl
"Which one is 20, it doesn't have a kisser where should I put it" jeeez rookie ass
"What's brace height" slap yourself in the face
Someone must've woken up on the wrong side of the bed today.
The rookie part was clearly stated in the beginning.
Hope your day gets better, and thank you for watching! :)
i cant watch
No hate, but if your going to do a review on youtube, you need more experience than 1 bow, w all due respect, you have no idea what you are comparing what
Ah crap, I forgot to put review into the title of this video that isn't a review where I clearly state I don't know what I'm doing.
how is this a "blind test" ? this video might as well be paid advertisement with a noob shooter does do not know what or how to feel when not anchoring or even know how to. and no follow through to test the balance . the guy is even drawing the bows wrong.
Maybe give some actual constructive feedback next time.
so why the blind test thing ?
+@Brant_Moore Blind in the sense that I only knew what my bow felt like and had absolutely no preconceived notions about the bowtechs. Obviously I’m not super knowledgeable either, so didn’t know what to expect or look for. The outcome could only be what I felt with no bias.
Later I will do a typical blind test and do it between bows with no logos or labels showing.
kinda defeats the point when they tell you what bow it is and what not
@Brant_Moore I know I put you on the spot b4 but your drawing anchoring and trigger punching is just painful to watch. Look up Paige Gore. Look at her hand position anchor and how she shoots her carter release. We all have to start somewhere and I appreciate your review.
