Why not play around with making it a Semi-Peripheral port exhaust and using the older Rx7 housings for better exhaust flow? You'd have to use the older rotors or maybe the RX7 apex seals would be good enough. But being someone in the field, I bet it's crossed your mind. :) I just think the Renesis would be way more efficient with that change.

Finding a good turbo kit for the renesis is so hard. I wish greddy still made it for LHD cars, all the company’s in the states make questionable turbo kits at best. If you make one id buy one. Rather keep the renesis than swap an FD motor
Brettus got his +400whp and it hasnt popped yet. Perhaps reaching out to him re tuning and cast manifolds might speed up some development costs and downtime. The more boosted renesis for data the better
@noname-sd5dt fully aware of Brett Harper and his developments. Unfortunately his cast manifold is investment cast, (quite expensive) which is just one aspect of a conversion. The wastegate placement doesn't allow for a plumb-back arrangement either, which is a tradeoff for some people. Factor in the cost of the turbo, IC piping and various other things, and it becomes a fairly big expense. His manifold is fairly limited in numbers as well. But for those wanting a hassle free, bolt on arrangement for the turbo manifold, his manifold is second to none 👌🏽 Side note, my failure is nothing to do with the tune. And as far as I'm aware, Brett's engine isn't entirely stock, and everywhere else in the world has access to ethanol at the pump unlike the UK.
Owned an RX 8 now for 9 years....love it,.....lots spent including the usual rebuild....will hook up with you boys at some point for the final ECU tune that it is lacking. Do have a qustion.....was Alex,s RX from his old channel Car Throttle that you guys rebuilt rated at 215bhp at the crank or wheels? As he says wheels but I'm doubtful it could make that much. Nice work, I am currently slapping the Pettit supercharger on my R3, needs to be adapted due to OMP pump in the way compare to an S1 . I have the high boost pulleys but i’m not using it to have a safe amount of power on track.
I want to start practicing making my own mainfolds on some flanges what would you suggest that you could bend into port size the only other option i have is to cut my xforce headers for port match reasons flip them 90 and heavily modify them to clear and possibly remove the battery location. Not sure if your familar with brett harper or brettus he designed a manifold basically right next to the exhaust ports for less boost lag and hes been testing around 14psi reliably intrested to see your kit priced reasonably

keep up the RX8 love, but let's face facts together it WAS underpowered from day 1. Even if it had had an actual full 250 hp that would have been a massive improvement.

I'm down to send my R3 motor to you guys, I'm already in the process of going though route to boost mine. I have 2 engines ready to build for boost. Only down fall is I'm stateside 😅 my goal is 400+
Could you use the rx7 rotors to drop compression? and that way run more boost and make more power or is there a limitation on doing that in the renesis? also im so hyed to see this thing rip, have quite a soft spot for the rx8
So one of the reasons it's not advisable to run rotors other than the Renesis rotors, is simply because the sideseals on the earlier rotaries are quite thin and prone to premature wear - the biggest flaw on the Renesis is the heat on the sides of the rotors that builds up due to the side exhaust port arrangement. It's actually documented in SAE papers, that the 13B-MSP oil injectors are directed at the side and corner seals to keep them cool. Plus, lowering compression sacrifices torque off-boost, and increases turbo lag. So there's a bit of a trade-off there, but I always prefer keeping that responsiveness personally. 🤌🏽 High compression all the way for road cars!
What did you use to tune the car? I like the fact that the kit is a low mount since the rotary engine has a good COM and i wouldnt want to ruin that. The only other thing would be equal length runners.
Well, we'll find out in due time. There's more than enough examples in the USA, Australia and New Zealand running boosted setups and racking up the mileage. As for the UK, I'm not aware of many. That said, not many people have them as daily drivers, let alone when boosted. 😂
@@BlackstarMotorsport thank you, looking forward to finding out this :) As an owner of an RX8, I find the car a bit underpowered for its nice handling, extra 50-100 horsepower would've made the car so much more enjoyable... Wish you good luck with tuning your car!
