might be worth noting when you mention centering the mount, but most action cams have off-centered lenses which can lead to slightly off center video. good vid!
I LOVE Sugru!!! I used it to mount a gopro on my dads helmet and it worked perfectly!!! Oh, and it gets extremely strong after it dries. You will have a hard time getting the mount off the helmet after that!!
it helps to have a bowl of water to dip your fingers in when shaping it. wipe away excess easily with your finger or some type of shaping tool (like a spoon handle or a popsicle stick)... but i'm talking about once you have it how you like it and you're just trying to get the sides smooth and uniform; water helps to lubricate your finger to give it a nice smooth surface.
The real trick is the sugru. Mounting point is obvious. The alcohol too if you know how to work with adhesives. Sugru is some awesome stuff. I carry it with me on long trips. It proved useful for repairing a broken turn signal on the road. Gaffer tape is another must-have. One packet should be enough. I have tried unsuccessfully to remove the mounts before and I can confirm the Sugru will hold to speeds well above 100 mph.
Is this still how you recommend mounting a GoPro to helmet? Also, what setup do you use currently in regards to the GoPro accessories? Are you using that curved J bracket or something else? Would love to see an updated video. Thanks I’m advance.
Hey brotha! I understand this video is a few years old and you may never see this, If you do happen to stumble across this im just curious as to if this has held up well for you?
Great video Dan, I’m also Dan and a fireman. My family calls me that and I couldn’t use it for my channel because you beat me to it 🤣. But that’s okay. What was the outcome of this product? I tried a chin mount on my modular LS2 Valiant 2 it it lasted all of 30 minutes and I almost lost my Hero 10. I’ve since gone to a Dango Mount, which works great on that helmet. I’m going to pick up the Shoei Hornet x2 tomorrow and may look into doing this.
So... What's the long-term review on using this stuff? I have my GoPro mounted on top of my current helmet because mounting it on the front put too much weight out front and caused my helmet brow pad(s) to rest on my glasses causing discomfort on my nose, but the helmet has a ridge right in the center and the GoPro mount isn't terribly secure. I think this stuff would be "the bees knees" if it works as advertised.
Should really S P E L L out the adhesive used . Not sure but I’m gonna contact Arai to see if anything is voided or compromised by attaching a foreign adhesive to their helmets
But it won't come off. At least without the paint doing it as well. Sugru is great when it comes to this. You just use a knife, get rid what you can cut away and the rest is easy to do with your fingernails.
Another great video. Thank you. How do you attach your GoPro to that attachment so the camera lens points forward and not down? Perhaps you use another accessory?
Thanks for another great how to... I'm currently trying to save for a better lid and I'll be trying the sugru mount.. I mentioned you and your channel in the vlog I'm currently editing... Hope that's ok with you.
DanDanTheFireman I’ve tried a chest mount before. I liked it except I was riding someone else’s bike and their mirrors, speedo, and tach got in the way some of the time. Mine are located lower on my bike.
even with the curved mounts, it can be very difficult to find a spot that matches the curvature of the mount. and even if you do find a spot that works, it may not be anywhere near where you actually want it mounted. enter: Sugru.
might be worth noting when you mention centering the mount, but most action cams have off-centered lenses which can lead to slightly off center video. good vid!
Nice info! I would probably put the camera on it before putting the glu on to see where it needs to go.
Thanks for posting this DanDan. You have been an inspiration. You have grown 3X since this posted a year ago!
That mustache!!!

Is it able to hold the weight of a gopro? Especially with all the bumps and stuff
@@timyassa4343 Yes

Great video. I can confirm this works VERY well. I've went on probabaly 100 rides with this mount and it never even came close to failing me
Any updates on this? Still holding strong or nah?
Did you do a review on how you got on with the setup?
I keep thinking you're saying Subaru ...
Do you have a review video after the 24 hours ? I just got a X2 and looking to mount a cam
Here from the future and I definitely dig the beard you have over the stash you did have hahah

Thanks Dan. I’m in a similar situation. Just bought my first camera. Good to know. BTW I never saw you beardless. 🤪
So how well did it hold up?

2 component epoxy goo will do the trick also!

Isn't this helmet flat enough to just use the 3m sticky tape that comes with the mount?
I want to put my action cam like that on my helmet, but i dont want to ruin the aesthetic of my Bullitt..
Yognautto lol
Hey Dan, so I couldnt find a follow up video for this one. So did it work?
Still works and still on the helmet strong. Highly recommend it
@@DanDanTheFireman Cool thank you, its time for some SOOGROOUO
Hi there, how is this product after a long time? Is it still good?
Love your videos!
Two years ago you did this. How is it holding up, or have you had to use a different method?
Great Video
I would only need something like this for a short time (a couple of hours). Can it be removed and not residue will remove the paint?
I’m curious to know how it affects the feel of the helmet at higher speeds, with and without the GoPro attached.
DanDanTheFireman I’ve tried a chest mount before. I liked it except I was riding someone else’s bike and their mirrors, speedo, and tach got in the way some of the time. Mine are located lower on my bike.
Hey how strong is this stuff? If I have an elbow to mount my camera on the front, will this hold over 150+ mph?
Did you end up doing a review for Sugru?
Why not use the stuff that’s Made for the job? I just don’t get it. 3m
wonderful
Hi Dan! How do you mount the mic to your helmet?
Does the Sugru still holds?
The gopro mount already has a really strong adhesive on it already though?
This works when the helmet doesn't have a flat surface to mount it.
even with the curved mounts, it can be very difficult to find a spot that matches the curvature of the mount. and even if you do find a spot that works, it may not be anywhere near where you actually want it mounted. enter: Sugru.
Are you still using the yi 4K? If so how do you get voice over video?
I still do. I use a seperate audio recorder
Hey, did the suguru hold up? Are you still using it?
Still using it and it's holding up great
@@DanDanTheFireman great, thanks a lot for the reply, appreciate all your work.
Thanks for the info. Does your action camera support an external mic? Check my channel out of you have time. I'm 3 weeks in.
This video did not need to be 13+ minutes long. .... Brah.
tomtesting99 when it’s long like this it’s just lazy editing
