FABULOUS, and WELL DONE GIRL 👍👏!! And I’ll NEVER grow tired of hearing an influencer of my age group tell me “ to work with what we’ve got” ! It reinforces the fact we’re still beautiful, and YES , we can still rock our beauty 💪👌🤩❣️
Well, sometimes I think that what we've got is BETTER than someone in their 20s! How beautiful it is to be our age & lived through what we have & still be rockin' gorgeousness!!
I must say. I am SO HAPPY to have come across your channel. You are instantly a new favorite! It is so refreshing how real you are and how you address real concerns us real women have! It is so easy to be fooled by filters and lighting and put ourselves down for not looking a certain way or getting the same outcome with makeup most of these other influencers get! I am a big fan Ms. Melissa! You are a Gem among the makeup community!
Oh my goodness Nina! First I'm so excited you're here! And super happy you're enjoying the content. You know I'm just like all of you, I watch the influencer & think, "what am I doing wrong?" Fact is, absolutely nothing! Except we don't have a MUA, hairstylist, Lighting director & photoshop to use everyday!!! Hahaha! So doll, you're in the right place. We're just a bunch of girlfriends that live makeup & fashion, getting together to have some fun! So glad to have you with us! Sending new friend hugs!
Thank u soo much for showing us that u do still have a little bit of texture after applying foundation!Alot of beauty influencers NEVER admit to that and there's soo many young girls and women who are self conscious about their makeup especially because they think its going to come out completely flawless like the influencers they watch and they end up soo disappointed that when they take a pic of themselves they photoshop it until it looks unrealistic.
LOVE that you encourage women to shave their faces (aka Dermaplaning). As a professional esthetician, I educate my patients about how beneficial this is. Truly, I appreciate the reminder that we are all beautiful and we ALL have skin issues that WE find problematic.
Yeah, dermaplaning will take your felus hair away, dead skin cells, and allow the products to penetrate into the skin better. Exfoliation does not need to be done everyday. Skin cells turnover usually 4-6 weeks this slows down with age. We lose collagen once a year this doubles during menopause stage. @shanazhussain718
Melissa, I do really enjoy your videos and your upbeat, positive e delivery. I always learn something , but today was an affirmation that I too, at 70 years young, could look model perfect if only I had a permanent soft focus filter hanging over my face😁❤! Your honesty and genuine caring for your community with truth about products, prices, efficacy etc. are refreshing. Thanks for all you do. Be well and have a great week lovely lady.
I want to thank you so much for this video! I turned 37 this year and it just seems like my skin and body has just changed. My skin is now dry and my pores are very large. The fine lines seemed to have popped up overnight! Your videos are so helpful. I like how I look in makeup again.
Try the “ordinary” brand 30% aha peel. It’s like $8 and you can find it at ulta. They have a whole skin care line that is actually high quality and affordable.
I just found your channel today! I learned some new tricks about applying foundation for over 40. Actually, I am way over 40 but your tutorial about applying makeup for people with texture skin was most helpful. Thank you!
So many great tips, Melissa! I agree, face shaving is essential for me. I am 62 and have been shaving my face for decades. Removal of the peach fuzz and flaky skin is key to a flawless foundation application and every single product that goes on top of it! You are always gorgeous, so glowy and radiant. Thank you for sharing techniques and opinions on products.
I agree at near 70 you must do this. Many women deny or don’t think they have facial hair but we all do, some with bifocals may not be able to see. Get a flashlight and shine under your face behind ears towards side of cheeks to really see the fuzz. It’s there and must go to have a smooth foundation or the things you apply will stick to the hairs and is visible to everyone even if you can’t see them yourself. Great video.
Hello there! I am 37 and starting to see fine lines on my forehead and crows feet around my eyes 😧 So I am so happy I found this video loaded with amazing tips 🙏 I have been wanting to shave my peach fuzz on my face for several years but I am sssooo scared to do it!!! Does it grow back thicker...or darker?! Does it feel like a "steel brush" when growing back in?! So many things scare me about this but I may be making a mountain out of a mole hill?! I already shave my arms and it grows back exactly the same texture and thickness as before I shaved it so maybe the face will too?!
Hello! I am 53 and sad to say I'm just now trying make up! I have always worn some but not much. I very much enjoy your channel BUT I wish I didn't shave. Maybe I did it wrong but my face feels awful.
Wow! First time watching and I must say that even at my age (75) - learned a ton!! You opened up my process thinking and I now see I have truly been stuck back where I first learned about makeup… many decades ago. I am anxious to try some of your ideas, sequencing, and products new to me. I do believe I am entering a new adventure, thanks so very much for sharing!!
Well hi there Cathi! First WELCOME! I'm so excited to have you here!! And second... Yay! I'm glad the video was helpful for you. I love to get your thoughts after you've tried it out. Have a fabulous weekend my new friend
Finally someone who has an honest approach to skin and texture 👏🏼 So happy to have stumbled onto your channel all the way from a very gloomy Scotland 💜
The first one is a primer spray. They usually are quite hydrating & don't have ingredients that set your makeup. They are just to get your face ready for makeup. The other was a setting spray, those usually have ingredients that help dry down any break through of makeup. I don't use one's that contain alcohol because I'm too dry already, but a lot like Urban Decay All Nighter do use alcohol.
I love watching you so much that I wasn’t ready for the video to end. I am so glad you showed how long it really takes. I felt so bad taking so long of a time to do my makeup, but the real deal takes some time to do, I see. I used to take 30 minutes and be done with the whole thing in my 20’s and 30’s. I miss those days, but I now see how to do things in my older age. Thank you so much Melissa. I would add just one thing….it takes practice, although watching you helps get it done the first time, going slowly. ❤
I was writing her instructions down or I'll forget several steps! I ordered the priming spray, never heard of it! My face is always tacky after serums & my moisturizer. Nice to know I can blot it with tissue. My tissues all have lotion in them so I need to buy lotion free ones. All the steps seemed like a lot of work but if it works for me I'll do it. Much easier & faster in our 20s & 30s!! Imconfused on the under eye steps. I'll have to watch it again for that.
So many great tips that you've shared before that I still follow to this day. They have made my makeup so flawless. I'm so incredibly grateful for you, and your wonderful tips. Thank you so much!
I haven’t worn makeup in years. I’ve just had such a hard time finding foundation or even a bb cream that doesn’t make my pores look enormous. But I recently decided to start wearing some and came across your video. I saved it to watch again so that I can follow your tips. Thank you so much!
Oh, thank you for turning off your ring light and letting us see your skin in normal light! Sometimes it feels like trying to get the same look as you do is an exercise in futility. There is no way my skin can look the same without studio lights, no matter how closely I follow your tutorials. You still look gorgeous of course, it's just more realistic and achievable. Thank you so much. You are so honest and I love you to pieces.
I am glad to hear that you really push for foundation to go on the ears, the neck and the décolletage. I remember several years ago Laura Bush was being interviewed on CSPAN and all I saw was her face one color and her neck/chest was another.
I’m 48 and have been struggling so much with setting my under eyes. I am constantly using a damp sponge and using a setting spray, but I now see I have been using way too much powder under my eyes first- and will now only lightly dust AFTER using a setting spray on my sponge. I am binging your page now to find product recommendations. It’s so hard to follow super young influencers when you have aging skin. My under eyes and under my chin are really hurting my feelings lately and I’m so glad I found you! I also think my skin is the same shade as yours, as is my hair, so I feel like a found a Fairy GodMother!
I am SO HAPPY to have come across this channel! My skin is so different than 20 years ago and I was still using the same routine! I was so unhappy on how I was looking (larger pores, fine lines, combination skin). Thank you so much for teaching us! You are a beautiful and generous human being!
Melissa you are so inspiring. So beautiful and your makeup looks so classy....I will try out your tips because I'm 52 and I can use all the tips I can get to make my makeup look nice. Thank you... Have a blessed day....😊
So appreciate your open and honest information in this video! I have tried shaving, but felt a bit overwhelmed by it (I'm 66 and pretty fuzzy). After watching your video, I'm going to give it another go! Also, taking note of your info!
Thank You. First advice that actually improved my look. That powder prior to, and pat patting primer. Just a lot of improving tips. 81 and my skin with wrinkles had a sort of natural flawless look😅
Wow this is such a fantastic tutorial so many nuggets of wisdom. I use a waterproof tinted sunscreen down my neck, it's like glue and it doesn't get on clothing. One thing I've learned is that at this stage of life, a 5 minute makeup routine in a hurry, is lipstick, mascara, color correcting dark circles under the eyes, and a quick swipe of blush. If I'm going to put on Foundation, I know that's going to take some time. I no longer skip skin care, primer, foundation/tinted spf, powder and setting spray. I've learned the hard way that it's mortifying to look at your makeup at the end of the day if you skip any steps.
Thank you for another great video! Great reminders and I appreciate your comments as well. I try to remember to set my sunscreen before starting makeup.
The best thing I learned about a year ago was to shave my face. I never thought to do that until I saw someone else recommended that. That is a great tip Melissa!!! I hope you are doing well beautiful!
I'm glad I stumbled on your channel. I'm 52 & was having a hard time finding makeup videos for my age. I really like how you did your foundation. Tomorrow I'm definitely going to do these steps. I keep forgetting to use my straight razor. That's for sure tomorrow. Thank you for sharing
I’m 68 now and have discovered some out of the box beauty secrets over time (like egg white masks, and tinting my moisturizer myself for homemade BB creams before they were popular. I’m not into covering my skin with foundations, though you make it look so natural and looks beautiful! A few years ago my 42 year old daughter asked me how I kept my skin so smooth, since hers was getting fuzzy. I laughed and admitted to shaving for about the last 25 years. I just used one of those men’s triple rotary head razors my husband had. I think they call it “epilating” these days, with some cute little girly tools, which she is ok with using. 😂
These are such fabulous tips. I have yet to try the powder first application method, but I think I will try it tomorrow morning. The rest of your tips I already follow.💜
Hi Melissa !! Totally agree “work with what we have “ thanks for taking the time to share your experience and techniques so so helpful . You look radiant and your skin looks amazing . Practice makes perfect 🥰💕
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am turning 35 this year and I can't tell you how much I appreciate you keeping it real about skin. I keep finding videos of people older than me, giving the same advice for people my age and older as they do for the teens and young adults. My skin has changes immensely since I was I began my 20's and I still keep hearing the same advice from the same "beauty gurus" as if their own skin has not changed! I don't know if to consider my skin as mature or not but I do have these issues with my skin and found your tips here, to be extremely helpful! Thanks again!
Melissa, what's the difference between setting powder and finishing powder? I still get confused but I appreciate you so much.. I just learned a lot of great tips that I'm definitely going to try. Tysm 😊
Hi Traci. A setting powder usually is matte & it blurs imperfections. Most times a Finishing Powder have a subtle, or not so subtle, sheen to it & it give a tiny glow.
@@MrsMelissaM oh no I just saw your comment.. tysm I get it now. So you would use setting powder first and then a finishing powder at the end right? If you(or anyone else) see's this could you recommend any finishing powders from the drugstore? Please.. thank you!
Ok, I went & looked, I think it's more about the blend on my lip liner. I'll link my technique video. I hope it helps a little. ruclips.net/video/I0hdFEwuwjI/видео.htmlsi=b2WitSV05HOyjI4q
This is, I think the first time I actually understand what the heck I am suppose to do to get flawless foundation ON!!!! You are Fabulously Awesome!!! Lots of love!
You are so correct. Especially the extra moisture on your skin before foundation! Took me forever to figure that out. I’ve been walking around like a cake face.
I love your accessibility and turning off the lights; the vulnerability of your camera presence is beautiful before, during & after. One question, though: why so MANY products?!?! I'm a daily exfoliator and love those little shave blades myself, and I do glycolics every 1-2 months. However, I could only see myself taking THIS MUCH TIME for a super-important event w. so many products, steps and time involved. Girl, it takes two days for my hair to dry...And the thing that got you into covering up down to your decolletage (and ears) is one of the most important foundations of "foundation": sunscreen, darlin'. The time we'd spend on flawless as possible foundation (and then laundry tips on how to get this stuff out of our clothes + cleaning brushes) ages me just watching it. *Would you consider taking the flawless foundation routine and tips here for those of us who don't have this kind of time doen to 15 minutes or less? And things we can carry in our bags (to work, etc.)?
Thank you for these wonderful tips! I have a big event coming up next weekend so I am going to practice these techniques. I think your skin looks amazing, even when you turned your ring light down! I truly appreciate all the hard work you put into teaching us how to be the best version of ourselves. ❤💕💜
Wow. What a difference before and after. You are beautiful. I’m new here. I really like your application technique. They are so much more realistic than most I’ve seen.
I rarely ever wear make-up. It is such a job to apply everything. Thank you for going through the steps. I've learned a lot. It doesn't seem so bad watching you
I use disposable the pink razors with the sensitive foam, 3 or 4 tines a week. I bolted the Ikea vintage mirror on the tub wall. At 71 no creases or crepiness .
Thank you so much for showing us how to do all of these things. I picked up a lot of useful ways to change what I do now...let my moisturiser set in for longer than I do...and yes I do need to use primer, and setting spray and powder...I have now subscribed to your channel and will have a look at some of your other ideas xxx
I’m so glad I came across your video at 63 getting a smooth looking foundation has become so difficult and I’ve ended up feeling like I’m wearing an uncomfortable mask. I will certainly be trying this following your advise and watching your other videos.
OMgosh I slap it on like a face lotion and use no powder, BUT I will attempt these techniques... am 62 and finally beginning to show signs of aging and feel vulnerable and uneasy about my looks. Thank you just found you today and binging your chan
Great video Ms Melissa, I can only afford The Ordinary products I have been using them for only 2 months I'm 63 I just started taking care of my skin ( I know crazy right) I'm going to get this foundation and try to make it work for me, thanks so much for all you do ❤️

After buying numerous products from beauty influencers, to try and get a perfect base, I finally realized my skin just doesn’t like several diff products under my foundation. So NOW I only wash my face and put on a Hydrating primer and my foundation looks PERFECT. Same with concealer, I only put a VERY tiny amount of Cerave healing ointment under my concealer and it looks flawless. I’m so glad I finally found what works for me. Also, I love you videos!!💙💙💙💙💙
Thank you for the information. I would just like to recommend when adding moisturizer or creams, move upwards and not down. You want to lift your skin.
I am 59. So great that you are showing us older women what to do. Because at our age our skin is totally different from these young girls. I am going to try your way because you look wonderful. Thank for the video!!!
I just urned 62 this month! I’ve used a brush to apply foundation for years. In the last 2 years I’ve been using a beauty blender and oh what a huge difference that makes!! Plus a whole lot this hot summer I sprayed my foundation with setting spray before I applied!!
I've wondered about the shave the face thing. I have never done it but at 52 years old I've recently started seriously considering it. Your method and reasons makes sense. I didn't start wearing makeup until my 30's when I started getting darkness under my eyes. Even then I did as little as possible because everything looked terrible! (I still barely get by.) Your tutorial makes sense through and through. Thank you!
Hi KellyAnn. I do have a tutorial on it that I can share too. One thing is that as you shave you blunt cut the hair, so a few days as it grows in you might feel like it's a little stiffer, but within 2 days my new hair growth is exactly like before. That's the only thing I would share that might give you pause. But truly I live the way my makeup looks when I do shave. If you have any questions at all, I'm happy to help

Thank You. First advice that actually improved my look. That powder prior to, and pat patting primer. Just a lot of improving tips. 81 and my skin with wrinkles had a sort of natural flawless look😅
Woohoohooo! I'm so excited to hear that Mary Ellen! I'm super excited for you
Sheseido is the best balancing lotion and I20 would be a perfect color for you. We have the same skin tone.
I20 IS MY COLOR. IVE USED IT SINCE I WAS 32,IM NOW 58.
That's so true. If you want it to look great at the end of the day, it takes time for sure!
I've been following MUAs from almost their beginning. This was one of the best tutorials I've ever seen!!
Oh thanks so very much Kristin. I hope it helped
When you don’t have any makeup on, I can picture what you looked like as a little girl. ❤
I'm so glad to have you here Vicky!
Hi Melissa. Thank you for the tips. Have a beautiful day❤
we need more people your age educating us on these things! wonderful video! you look really healthy and pretty with AND without makeup! ♥
Oh thank you so much!
I adore you so much!!!!! I’m 30 but I suffer from acne scarring and dry skin. Your tips help so much!
Oh wow! You just made my day doll!
Thank you, I most appreciate that you show how to use the sponge and that you stressed taking the time to apply it.
How fun that your daughter was asking! Momma's secrets are the best!
So happy I found you. I am your age and need help with these big pores and everything else.
Hi Mrs M 👋Great video. Loved it. Could you do an updated contour, blush and highlight application please 🙏 You look absolutely amazing 💯 xxxxxx
I sure can Christie. I'll try to get to it pretty soon
@@MrsMelissaM Thankyou so much. 🌸🌸🌸🌸
Thanks for this quick step by step tutorial. It helps when you get reminders about techniques.
You're beautiful either with or without foundation 💜
I just love watching you & that big ole IT Cosmetics brush looks amazing.
It's so good!
These are such fabulous tips. I have yet to try the powder first application method, but I think I will try it tomorrow morning. The rest of your tips I already follow.💜
I'd love to hear what you think Felicia
I would have liked to have seen how she did her eyemakeup 🥰 it looked lovely 😍
Thanks so much Linda. I do have several eyeshadow videos. I'll link one if you're interested

Hi Melissa !! Totally agree “work with what we have “ thanks for taking the time to share your experience and techniques so so helpful . You look radiant and your skin looks amazing . Practice makes perfect 🥰💕
😘😘😘
Thank you! Thank you!
So pretty! Thank you for the extra tips for making a more flawless look!
Love the comment in black box at end. That fits me to a tee.
Wow what a difference your make up
Makes. Thank you for sharing.
Please.. thank you!
Just Stunning! The best thing about you is the fact that you don't mind being real & your big ❤
Aw, thanks my sweet friend
Excellent video, Melissa! Great instruction and so helpful! Thank you!❤️
You're such a beautiful woman. Love how honest you are. Id love to see how you get your lips that perfect light pink without looking like lipstick.
Oh thank you Holly. I'll have to go back & rewatch this & see if I can remember.
Ok, I went & looked, I think it's more about the blend on my lip liner. I'll link my technique video. I hope it helps a little.

Loved it! Please do the whole look!!! Thank you!
Like a cake face!!🤣🤣
Hey wait a minute...I LOVE cake! 🍰
Hahaha!
Love u girl!
You're so kind Stacy! Thank you
New technique using powder before foundation. Can't wait to try! Thank you!
Great tips, I appreciate all you do for us!💞
Wow. What a difference before and after. You are beautiful. I’m new here. I really like your application technique. They are so much more realistic than most I’ve seen.
Thank you so much Teresa
There is no way I’m going to put makeup on my neck and chest! 😳
Lol
Why not?
To bad..
🙄🙄🙄
Eh well then your face will look different to your neck and chest. Unnatural looking. Sounds like you’re new to makeup.
No matter what, you always cheer me up.
Aw, I'm so happy to hear that Linda!
I'm almost 40 but I have textured skin, fine lines , deep forehead wrinkles, I'm so happy to find your channel!!!! Your tips have helped me so much!
I rarely ever wear make-up. It is such a job to apply everything. Thank you for going through the steps. I've learned a lot. It doesn't seem so bad watching you
Glad it was helpful!
Good morning Melissa thank you for sharing see you soon 🍂
I use disposable the pink razors with the sensitive foam, 3 or 4 tines a week. I bolted the Ikea vintage mirror on the tub wall. At 71 no creases or crepiness .
That's awesome Beth!
Thank you Mellisa five more great tips you look amazing sending love and blessings to you and your family
Love the background ❤ glad to find an influencer older than 20😎

I’m so glad I came across your video at 63 getting a smooth looking foundation has become so difficult and I’ve ended up feeling like I’m wearing an uncomfortable mask. I will certainly be trying this following your advise and watching your other videos.

OMgosh I slap it on like a face lotion and use no powder, BUT I will attempt these techniques... am 62 and finally beginning to show signs of aging and feel vulnerable and uneasy about my looks. Thank you just found you today and binging your chan

You are such a delight & I absolutely love your videos! Please let me tell you how much I appreciate your not dumping on all of us all the negative things going on with you. Sadly, life isn't pain free & we all have hard things to deal with & grow from. Thank you for always leaving me feeling cheered up, enlightened & hopeful after watching your videos. You're so delightful!
I'm so glad Kory. There are a few of those videos out of the 500+ I've made. But on the whole, I just live bringing the makeup to you.
Very nice Melissa I'm not into much make up but I'm learning now at 55 I feel I need some enhancements for my look....thanks
Great tips! I'm going to try the loose powder before foundation.
I came here by chance.am 45 and am starting to feel everything is finished.but watching you having this much energy gives me hope eventhough I am living in a hopeless country like Iran. May be I dont have access to internet tomorrow but I subscribed.⚘️
Hope is something no one can ever take from us. 45 is still very young! You can do anything truly!
This was very helpful. I've never deplaned my face but now I may try it. Please wish me luck.
That's awesome Kari! We all have to do what's best for our own skin!
I shave every couple weeks and it makes a very big difference..feels so smooth
Thank you for the information. I would just like to recommend when adding moisturizer or creams, move upwards and not down. You want to lift your skin.
Thanks for sharing!!
I am 59. So great that you are showing us older women what to do. Because at our age our skin is totally different from these young girls. I am going to try your way because you look wonderful. Thank for the video!!!
I hope it works great for you Suzanne
You look amazing!!!! Beautiful, beautiful you are getting younger every day!!!!! I want what you're having!!!😍
I just urned 62 this month! I’ve used a brush to apply foundation for years. In the last 2 years I’ve been using a beauty blender and oh what a huge difference that makes!! Plus a whole lot this hot summer I sprayed my foundation with setting spray before I applied!!
Perfect Debra!
