Hi from a 70 year old girl from the UK. Can't believe you mentioned purple glitter eyeshadow ....that's what I had on yesterday Risa. Love to be different. Love watching your vids too.xxxx
I love watching your videos and have learned a lot. I am 63 and I love shimmers and glitter in eyeshadow. They are fun and I am happy when I wear them!
I really enjoyed listening to to you I’m a 58 year old women and stopped wearing makeup because I have gotten so frustrated on what I wore in the past not understanding why it made me look so old and wrinkly. I will continue on watching you and go back to basics and learn how to pick and apply makeup. Thanks for encouraging me to try over again.
This video was one of your most helpful for me at 81. I've worn makeup for a long time back to Revlon Touch and Glow in Creamy Ivory and Helena Rubinstein mascara with a metal wand and smelled like shoe polish. Your help 😃 n prep and selecting prep products is the best ever. Thank you!😊❤
Ahneen, Risa (Hello in Ojibwe). I loved this video. I appreciate your candor describing the products and application. I am 53 years old. I have been watching you for years because younger youtubers create irrelevant content for my age group. I have learned so much from you over the years about make up and skincare. I have received many compliments on the looks that I have created using your tips. Thank you for creating this beautiful channel!!!
I really love this review. If you don’t have great skin prep , your base will not work !! It’s so Important. It all changes even when you hit 60. I’m 63. And boy, talk about doing it all different. It’s a perfect video.
Im a new lady and really like everything you had to say about learning about putting on make up, thank you so much , Im in my late 60,s and needed some one to finally talk about DRY skin ... yay !!!I learned sooo much ,
Hi Risa .... I hope you will see this comment . I have watched you for some time , and have come to trust you and respect your professional advise , but I was very glued ( so to speak) to this particular tutorial . It was so informative and educational . I really like your honesty .
I'm not in my 40s yet so late 30s and I truly appreciate your advice and tips on this video. Oh and you do not look like you in your mid 50s and your radiant and gorgeous. 🙏 GB.
I’ve had very good results with Laura Gellar Baked Balanced and Brighten powder foundation. Liquid always broke up on my cheeks and looked bad on my nose. I use an angled semi dense brush and press it in and roll the brush. Never swipe it around. It’s undetectable on my skin and just blurs the unevenness. My mom is 85 and she gets up and does full makeup everyday. Does it look perfect? No! But I love it! She feels and looks put together, and that is why makeup can be important!
We need to supply one another as women instead of being jealous insecure twists. Im 15 years your senior and normal to dryer skin and light medium skin tone and I’m still a subscriber. Thanks for all you share your points are spot on for all skin types. Thanks Risa
I'm 53, soon to be 54. I have been wearing the Laura Geller Balance and Brighten for well over 10 years. I love that I can blend different colors as my skin tone changes and it wears fabulously on me. I have combination skin, so having a regular skin routine helps this foundation look great. I prep with Neutrogena Hydro Boost gel cream, CeraVe Facial moisturizing lotion PM and I let that set a couple big minutes. Next comes the Wet n Wild Primer Serum per you 😉 (I'm loving it BTW). Lastly, I go in with Paula's Choice Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30. I let that dry down, then pounce on the BnB foundation with a make up brush. With the same brush, I blend in the foundation till it blends into my skin on my face, neck, ears ( I have short hair), and decollete. I finish off my makeup with ELF mist & set spray and it lasts all day ❤. I loved this video. So informative 😊
Risa this was another of your fantastic master class videos. I have been watching you for quite some time now and I value and trust your opinions and suggestions. You look so beautiful today. This video was so helpful and it inspired me. I been down in the dumps for awhile. When I lost my lab Redding in April and husband works nights on the strip and I don't have many friends so I said "Why should I do all this for what?" Hubby"s answer, "for yourself". Thank you for sharing this video. I learn my tips and tricks from you. Luv you🤗💋❗❤️👍✔️
He’s 100% right!! Do it for you! 😃 I’m so sorry for your loss, I know how that feels. 💔 Friendships at any stage of life can be difficult to cultivate and maintain, but even more so as we get older. I think a lot of us can relate to feeling lonely at times. Sending hugs!!
Hello Risa, I wanted to thank you for this channel and all the recommendations, techniques and tutorials directed towards mature skin. It’s been a blessing have a person doing this for us.
I wear makeup everyday. It makes me feel better and if I don’t have some place to go I do a little playing and try out techniques I have seen but haven’t had the chance to try. I have tried some of the new mascaras and been amazed how well they work! I am 82 and I have a lot of friends who never wear makeup or sunscreen! I have found some products that are quick and look great when I go to quilt retreats so I still feel put together! LOL Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!
I match my concealer to my skin tone because I have hereditary bags under my eyes and a lighter shade just highlights them and makes them look worse. A tiny bit of a lighter shade just in the troughs under the bags helps some. I'm also mature and still very oily---I appreciate you and your channel so much. Thank you.
Thank you SO, SO much!! I really appreciate the way you offered drugstore products. I’m 69 and on a fixed income so I have to be as thrifty as possible but I still want to look nice. So thank you!
I have really noticed my skin changing when i hit my 40s. I am currently 44 and notice my dry skin becoming drier and darker under eyes. I absolutely adore your channel and content!
It’s like I woke up at 40 and started seeing lines that literally were NOT there yesterday! My skin just won’t stay hydrated enough, I thought I had dry skin in my 30# but nothing had prepared me for this kinda dryness..lol
I'd also recommend you check out Marlena Stell. I recently found her channel and have learned so much! She goes more in-depth as to what products to use on what types of skin, what tools to use for everything which is based on the thickness of your foundation etc. Her videos for skin over 40 are AMAZING
I agree about smaller eyeshadow palettes, with one exception: I adore the Natasha Denona “I Need a Nude” palette and think every shade is wearable for mature eyes. So good!
I’m 39 and starting to notice my makeup just doesn’t feel and look how it used to so I watched this video with a notepad lol. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the tip for people with unsteady hands. I have chronic illness and pain and my hands shake so badly and it’s been affecting my confidence when doing makeup and RUclips videos. I’m going to try your (and Trish’s) technique ❤
I'm happy to hear what you said about loose & pressed powder. Everyone always raves about particular loose powders & I do have some. But tbh, I really do prefer some of my pressed ones more. I have a couple loose ones that have been on my wishlist but now watching this I'm gonna instead get some pressed ones. Tyvm❤❤
Fantastic video, Risa! Thank you for answering so many of my long-standing questions, like how a setting powder differs from a setting powder an how to combine primer with the right moisturizer. Even though I've been a makeup junkie for over 30 years (I'm 48), I still have areas I can improve on. Two more questions for you: 1) do you apply your moisturizer while the serum is still 'wet' or do you wait for it to dry before applying? and 2) although I always use a lip liner with lipstick, I find now that I'm older, if I add gloss on top (and I'm like you, I just can't resist a juicy lip even when the matte lipstick looks fab), it still starts creeping over my lip line. I try to make sure I 'seal' the lip line with the liner, so there are no gaps for the gloss to seep through, if that makes sense, but I am finding myself avoiding gloss most days because I end up looking like a clown (and it breaks my heart to not use gloss). Thanks again for a fab video and fab series. I really admire you and love how relatable you are. You're a drop dead gorgeous woman with beauty, brains and a big heart. I know from your other videos you've had a hell of a year and I also appreciate you sharing that part of your life with us and still managing to carry on your awesome work and videos.
I'm 34 and started noticing my skin changing by 30. I have always appreciated "mature" makeup artists' tips because of their experience and understanding of different skin types. Love your channel! 💕
Wow! You just called her mature right here on her channel. As a woman you should know we don’t do that to other women. Wait till you see how it feels to be called “mature”.
I am 48, have super dry skin, except for my t zone that gets a little bit oily with enlarged pores. I absolutely adore the Laura Geller baked foundation you featured. Every time I have tried their minerals loose powder, I go into heavy-handed, but the Laura Geller never looks overdone. I can also add more throughout the day if I need to.
I can't get a really good color match in Laura Geller's makeup. Even mixing light and medium, as the makeup sets on my skin it oxidizes and turns orangey. It only looks good for about two hours on me.
Thank you for such informative and helpful content!!! I’m 39, never remember to drink water, and while I used to love makeup and was pretty decent at applying it, the last couple of years have been a little rough. Large pores and fine lines and puffiness around the eyes, made me look worse with makeup on. This is so great, I’m going to try all of these tips.
Love your mature skin videos being a makeup crazed 76 yr old. And have you tried YSl Lash Clash Mascara? Wow, I am so impressed on mature lashes it lengthens and provides perfect volume without lumping or caking, at least for me. Happy 2024🎉
Risa you & BK Beauty really should create a line of smaller brushes for smaller (and or hooded) eyes. You especially have always talked about how important the right size brush is and I couldn’t agree more. It would be so helpful to have an All in one set or even a few key individual brushes ….I really hope y’all consider something like this ❤
Check out Singe Beauty. Angelica Nyqvist is a You Tuber who does pretty colorful looks, but she created a line of brushes for smaller spaces and hooded eyes.
Risa, this was an excellent video. One of your very best. I love the idea that there are "no rules in makeup." Thank you very much for generously sharing your tips and methods for getting the best application. You are so lovely, and I enjoy watching all of your content. Once again, you are an outstanding educator. 💗
Hello Risa. I just stumbled across your channel and instantly subscribed and hit that like button. I am 47 years of age and I never really bothered with lots of make up. I usually just wear lipstick ,eyeliner, and mascara . Now that I am older though I am excited to start trying to use foundation and all others. Thank you so much for this video as I am looking forward to learn more from all your videos. Thanks again and please keep the videos comming.
I have the Laura Geller baked powder and so far I really like it. I am 61 with normal to dry skin with some fine lines. I have found so far that the liquid foundations and most concealers tend to settle into the fine lines and makes the lines look worse. When I do use liquid foundation I will use less to try and prevent this from happening have had a little success. Love your content for mature skin, skin changes, hooded eyes and so on. Thank you.
Hello. I just now discovered your channel and I’m glad I did. I am a 71y/o Hispanic woman with medium to tan skin. Since having Covid 3 years ago my facial skin became extremely sensitive to all products, especially sunscreen. It’s taken until now to really begin using not only skin care products but makeup as well. I am looking forward to watching your videos as they give me new techniques and beauty products to consider using. I so appreciate your honest presentation about products for mature skin. Thanks ☺️
Wow! I already know that I will be watching this multiple times! You are really helping a lot of people feel confident in their purchases and appearance. Thank you ❤
Great video Risa, I'm a very mature dry skinned girl who loves to learn new tricks. One new trick I learned is to put a very small drop of Castor Oil into my foundation and it looks wonderful.
Risa, you are so lovely 😊 I can't tell you how much I've learned from you! I always look forward to and enjoy your videos! Thank you so much for continuing to share your knowledge with all of us ❤
I agree with you. Wear what you think is suitable for you. I pretty much do everything that they say over 60 shouldn't do. Yet it suits me. Glitter eye shadow, long hair, ponytails etc etc.
Thank you. I am 55 and my son is soon to be married. Although I would love to have a makeup artist, I can't afford it. I am hoping that learning and practicing your tips and tricks and investing in some of the recommended products will help me improve my current regime and look my best for the wedding. I appreciate how honest and open you are. You are beautiful in many ways.
I found this video very informative and loved this important info, I am a beauty therapist so I am fully aware that u have to prepare your skin your before foundation etc. I do know people that go straight into make up. I just love watching what people use and do 😊. Thanks
Loved this and learned a few awesome things now that I’m 43! Thanks so much Risa❤ A shade from ABH Satin lipsticks I think you would love is called Taupe Beige, it’s gorgeous and I wear it very often!! I’m picking up a few more shades from this line, they smooth your lips out so beautifully!
I used Pur mineral powder make up for many years. I had a hysterectomy at age 42 and almost instantly had to change to a liquid or cream foundation. Within 1 year my skin aged so much. It was crazy. I’m now 59 and have found a good mixture of products, thanks to you!😊
Thank you so much for helping us like you do lovely Risa 🙏🏻. I also appreciate you mentioning to each their own, when it comes to make-up, beauty, personal choices, etc. I am learning a lot, thanks to honest experts like yourself. Actually, I wanted to add I’m in my mid 50’s, and quite liking the “Moira” foundation powder. 🤗
The video was fantastic. I pretty much knew about everything & I do all the things you suggested. I really enjoyed it & I will 0:15 probably watch it many times. I hope you do more classes & how to video tutorials. I look forward to every video you do.
I'm 70 and use bare minerals loose powder. I have rocesa and blush is a problem. My eye bags are also a challenge. I'd love a tutorial on eyebags. I just found your channel and am enjoying them. Thank you!
Hi Risa! Thank you so much for your videos- you are a true favorite of mine on RUclips ! I am 63 with super oily skin, acne scarring and fine lines. I have tried numerous liquid foundations but always go back to my favorite which is the glo minerals powdered foundation- it has great build-ability and stays as long as liquid foundation. I have also recently discovered essence powdered foundation which is quite good- either option followed by setting powder and then revlon finishing powder ( a game changer!) which gives a subtle glo and charlotte tilbury setting spray I get great wear- hope you give this a try
I always learn so much from you Risa. Thank you for sharing all your típs. Your makeup always looks stunning and I also love your fashion style. I will be 35 this year so I guess I will be joining the “mature skinned” ladies.
I love love love that tarte pallette! I have bought numerous of them and will always repurchase it. I find that the cool toned browns & the red based browns make my green eyes pop.
This was an awesome video! I have VERY dry skin. But I LOVE the Jane Iredale powder foundation. I would recommend it to all skin types. I am not a primer person. I feel like less is more. I do a lot of skin prep, and my last step before foundation is lumi to add some glow underneath my foundation.
Hi Risa, I'm 66 & a longtime (20years) bareminerals original loose powder foundation. I've never had any issues with it looking cakey, dry, shiny, dull, etc. Using bareminerals mineral veil powder as my setting powder Keeps my finished makeup look last 12 hours. I've tried a variety of liquid foundations & have not yet found one that makes my skin look like it does when I use the bareminerals foundation. Thanks for this Master Class... I loved it!
ok.. i loved this video. best i've seen in forever. normally charlotte h. , mrsmelissam, and pretty over 50. don't tell them, but this was a true favorite!
Yes I agree. I'm 39 and I have a lot of wrinkles around my eyes my lips and forehead and I have huge pores and I love makeup but haven't figured out how or what to use so that my makeup looks good and so that I feel good about my makeup.and feel pretty. Trin to learn tho. Thanks for your vids. 🙂 This is my first one. I look forward to learning all that I can! I really want to enjoy my makeup again. 🙂🙂💖
I have been using the Wet & Wild serum as my primer especially under my eyes n I have oily skin but it works amazing ty for recommending to us on another video❤
I've been watching you for many years now and as always you are being the perfect pédagogue 👌🏻💄 👏🏻 It's so obvious that you just love your craft and love women 💋 You seem even more and more passionate about your job if that's possible. I hope 2024 will bring you more joy than 2023 unfortunately did, mostly a good health for yourself and your loved ones 😊
I appreciated your approach to everything you explained so well and gave plenty of room for us to still express ourselves and enjoy makeup. It's was a very real and helpful talk I will be following for sure
I have had good results using the Chantecaille Cushion Foundation. It seems to blend well with my 72 year old skin. What I have found is that going gray changes everything with the eyebrows. Since my natural brows were a medium brown, it just wasn't working. I found a medium gray eyebrow cream and it looks so much better. I love the tip about the press and wiggle eyeliner application. I have tried the tight lining under the upper lid and I always poke myself. For bottom liner, unfortunately, I had the permanent eyeliner put on 20 years ago. It hasn't gone anywhere, so I take that Rephr brush and use a very light color powder shadow on top of it. That softens the line. Great master class!
What a fabulous video! I love watching you for many reasons. Primarily, I find your sincere honesty an absolute delight. Makeup is fun. It makes us all feel good. You remind me of that every time I watch one of your videos. ❤
I am 72 and I’ve been using the Laura Geller Balance and Brighten powder foundation for a few years now as my only foundation. I have dry skin and it applies easily, evens out my skin tone, and doesn’t sink into my lines. I love her blushes as well.
I watched a dermatologist talking about layering primer and foundation formulas and it teally made sense. You can add anytning over a water-based gel or serum because the wayer will either sink into the skin or evaporate. You cannot put water based formula over silicone or oil based products because they create an occlusive layer and the water will sit on top
Love you Risa, your videos and all of the hard work that you put in for us all. Brilliant recommendations for all skin types and such honest reviews of course x🙏♥️
Risa. I love your videos. You are teaching me so much. I am practicing and got soooo many compliments at work yesterday with just a little eye makeup. Going shopping today for a few more items. I am falling in love with makeup again. Thank you!!!
I am 60 and have an oily t-zone. My foundation of choice is Giorgio Armani. On my “lazy” days I use Maybelline Fit Me poreless powder foundatio or Lancôme dual finish powder. They last for 6 hours or so. I have tried them all. I live in south texas (hot and humid). I hope this helps someone 🥰
I use Clinique Double Wearing powder. I usually just use a primer and moisturizer, then put on my double wear Clinique and then I do everything else. However I am looking to implement a foundation as I am now 52 and want a bit more coverage. Thank yu for your videos, they are so helpful.
Great video Risa thanks for sharing all this valuable information and tips I had learned so much from you and I’m sure I will continue learning. I Only have two RUclips favorites make up ladies and you are one of them I appreciate and value your recommendations and honesty Risa ❤🙏
Loved this video! I needed it! I forgot to tell you back when you uploaded your favorite products of 2023, MY favorite was influenced by you and it’s the Merit blush in Cheeky! The color is perfection and everytime I wear it, I feel pretty! ❤
Hi! First time seeing your channel 😊. I have very dry “mature skin” at 40 with wrinkles under my eyes that crease no matter what I do. I have found cover fx pressed mineral foundation to be THE best powder foundation for very dry skin. I highly recommend it ❤
Risa...I absolutely LOVED this masterclass video. It was so informative and pleasant to watch. Thank you for being so helpful with your tips and "secrets". 🙂💕
I have combination skin and the only drugstore powder foundation I have found to look halfway decent on me is the Loreal Tru Match powder foundation. Haven't tried any of the high end.
The Thank Me Later primer from Elizabeth Mott is one of the absolute best products you’ve ever recommended for me! She also has a hair primer that works so well on my dry, textured, color treated hair! It makes my hair so smooth. I definitely recommend.
Thank you, I’m 76 and have learned alot and have fun with the makeup!
Hi from a 70 year old girl from the UK. Can't believe you mentioned purple glitter eyeshadow ....that's what I had on yesterday Risa. Love to be different. Love watching your vids too.xxxx
I love this! I’m 49 and I will be wearing colorful glitter eyeshadows until I’m 90 😆
me too!! I'm 54 and I just love sparkle on my eye! My hooded eyes need a little something somethin to stand out
I’m 69 and never giving up glitter in my shadows! Natasha Denona Nude palette is my fave of the moment 💜🇨🇦
I‘m 74 and I‘ve been doing all these steps for my whole adult life each and every day and I‘m still enjoying it. I love your videos!❤️👏
I love watching your videos and have learned a lot. I am 63 and I love shimmers and glitter in eyeshadow. They are fun and I am happy when I wear them!
Yes..of course we can still wear shimmers, it's just placement has to be more carefully selected.
I’m 29 but I love watching mature makeup tutorials I learn so much more from RUclips videos like this than even people at my age.
I really enjoyed listening to to you I’m a 58 year old women and stopped wearing makeup because I have gotten so frustrated on what I wore in the past not understanding why it made me look so old and wrinkly. Loved this video Risa! Please do more Masterclasses! In the spring could you also do a fave lip combos video or an updated peachy spring look? 💕🌸
I am 56 and the Elizabeth Arden mineral powder foundation has been a staple for me...buffed in with a brush...flawless on my mature skin!

@@LisaMarlene. I didn't mean it in a negative way at all.
The mama of the video says for mature skin. Seriously!
@@LisaMarlene.anyone over 25 is considered to have “mature” skin. Nothing wrong with that. I’m 40 and I have mature skin.
I like to used old CD's for my application tray. I hold it like an artist's palette, with my thumb in the hole in the middle.
Happy 2024🎉
This was such a fabulous masterclass, Risa!!! Your before and after makeup looks are amazing and you’re so knowledgeable and helpful. 💗💗💗
I have recently purchased 2 Revlon Colourstay cream eyeshadow pots. I love them and quite often just do a one shadow look. 👍
Thank you.
Hi I love the Jane Iredale pressed powder mineral foundation. Amazing I’m 51 with combo skin
Thanks ☺️
Wonderful video Risa! I have learned so much from you over the years! Your tips are on point! You always look beautiful!😊❤
Risa, I really appreciate this video!!! I got a lot out of this!! It was very detailed. I know you put a lot into this!! Thank you so much!!!❤😊
Thank you Rissa 💗 I truly appreciate all of your tips and tricks I have mature oily aging skin too. 😅
I’m now 59 and have found a good mixture of products, thanks to you!😊
At 64 and not a big makeup wearer, this has been great. I usually only wear makeup on special occasions but I’d like to do it more. I’m learning 😊
Hi Risa! This was so informative! I love how knowledgeable and good hearted you are. I always look forward to your videos! Thank you!❤
I'm 70 and use bare minerals loose powder.
The Jane iredale powder foundation works surprisingly well on my 59 year old dry skin 😊
I loved it!
This is why I appreciate you!!!! Thank you for re enforcing what and why to do something. Thank you for helping me make a more confident step. 🙏🏼
ok.. i loved this video. best i've seen in forever. normally charlotte h. , mrsmelissam, and pretty over 50. don't tell them, but this was a true favorite!
Thank you so much!! These comments are so amazing and are making so happy to do what I do!!
Thank you, products and techniques change over time. I always learn something new from your tutorials.
I seen this video about 3 times already to try to learn every tip. Thank you.😊
I am 72 and I’ve been using the Laura Geller Balance and Brighten powder foundation for a few years now as my only foundation. I have dry skin and it applies easily, evens out my skin tone, and doesn’t sink into my lines. I love her blushes as well.
I am 56 and very fair and when I wear the it celebration foundation illumination powder foundation I receive so many compliments.
Great video! Makeup is so subjective and personal. There is a learning curve to finding what works for you. 💕
100%!!
You are so good at this. I appreciate all the time and effort you put into these videos!
Thanks Risa for your great informative videos
Would you please suggest a good makeup mirror for us mature skinned ladies
Love you Risa, your videos and all of the hard work that you put in for us all. Brilliant recommendations for all skin types and such honest reviews of course x🙏♥️
Risa. I love your videos. You are teaching me so much. I am practicing and got soooo many compliments at work yesterday with just a little eye makeup. Going shopping today for a few more items. I am falling in love with makeup again. Thank you!!!
This makes me so happy!!! Thank you! 🥰
I love your videos, your expertise and your honesty! 💗
This is my first time watching one of your videos. Thanks for the instruction. I can’t wait to put some of your techniques to use.
Jane iredale powder foundation pressed or loose is amazing my OG/HG since 1995! It has grown w my now 54 yr old skin. Along their pomegranate mist!
Hi! First time seeing your channel 😊. I have very dry “mature skin” at 40 with wrinkles under my eyes that crease no matter what I do. I have found cover fx pressed mineral foundation to be THE best powder foundation for very dry skin. I highly recommend it ❤
Thank you for this informative masterclass on makeup. Every time I watch your channel I learn something new. ❤
Thank Risa i have learned a lot from you I'm 63 and dry skin very few wrinkles but large pores! Thank you great advice you are beautiful ❤
Thanks Risa!!
Please talk about under-eye bags
and mature eyes make up.🙏
Risa have you tried Elf powder foundation. It has a primer in it so it’s supposed to last a long time. I like it a lot.
