Let me say this. When I turned 60, even 50’s rules changed for me. I’m 62. I’ll share my tips. Press and dab into skin it’s a must. No drag or pull. Powder use a dab or even finger under eyes. LESS IS MORE. I hardly wear foundation I don’t use around mouth or where wrinkles are just what’s left over-Blush is hard. Use , but lightly build and then blend into skin so no lines show, no heavy liner or like heavy black. USE highlighter, only a slight glow , (if you have pores or wrinkles ) also the dark sides of nose like heavy bronzer. Blending. Be light handed is the trick. Even now, I can’t wear as much as I did.

One of the best tips that you've touched on here (and in other videos) is that as we get older we should be going for a softer look. As a 64 yo I find using harsh colors and lines calls attention to the products, not my features. If I want to go for that "pop" or use the newest craze that's great - but I may need to modify the application techniques to achieve the end result I want. Thanks for helping us enhance our looks and making our outsides match our inner beauty Risa!

I love this video! Risa gives great advice.I’m not an MUA, but I have learned a lot from a lot of them. Sometimes, it’s what not to do based on what they did. But I also learned what types of products to use and where to use them and what tools to use. (I still find that a soft or medium toothbrush works well for grooming eyebrows.) For a very long time, I used those white, triangle-shaped sponges to apply my foundation, a powder puff to apply my setting powder, a big fluffy brush to get rid of the excess, and a smaller brush for finishing powder. I’d forgotten, until Wayne Goss reminded me, that a very thin layer of powder before applying foundation makes any foundation look better. Using all the products and applicators takes practice, but I feel it’s worth it for special occasions. I would never go through all of that for everyday makeup.
A clear lip liner can become your favorite tool to keep your lipstick where it belongs. When you get the hang of it, it doesn’t add much time to your routine. Likewise, false lashes get to be so easy to apply that you wonder why you tried every mascara that came out trying to get the lashes you want when “falsies” were available.

Risa. I can’t tell you enough how good my makeup looks now by following your method of application. I pump the foundation into the palm of my hand and press and swirl the brush then dab on my face. What a game changer this has been for me. Thanks so much for all of your tips!!!

Love the tips Risa! I use very little powder because I'm pretty dry and it always makes me look cakey. And I JUST came home with some cheap lashes and a couple different glues because I'm gonna get false lash application down if it kills me!! I'm 51 and struggle because I have never worn them but found your videos recently and knew it'd help my hooded eyes.

Hi honey! I’m 51 as well. I’ve been wearing eyelashes for at least 15 years. Just keep trying! It took me a while to get the knack. Try watching RUclips tutorials with different techniques. That’s what I did. I wear them on the daily! Really makes a difference.

I'm 59 and I'll have to admit I'm pretty impressed that I have already implemented most of your recommendations and it does make a difference! However, I am very intimidated by false eyelashes. My oldest sister has worn false eyelashes for years (the ones that are applied by a professional). She is 70 and has lost alot of her own lashes due to some of her own lashes coming out with the false ones. How can this this avoided? I am very interested in giving the corner lashes a try for special occasions. I have had issues with my own lashes for awhile due to autoimmune issues but have been able to grow them quite well with applying castor oil. Thanks for all of your videos!

Prescriptives was my first real foundation. My best friend and hero (miss you Daddy) my dad took me to get my custom foundation for my upcoming modeling gig in Tokyo in 1999. I loved everything about prescriptives. The packaging was awesome , they had the most gorgeous and coolest ladies out of all the makeup counters and we're so kind to my dad and I . Dad you were the best dad a girl could have ok im crying missing my dad forgot what I was commenting on. Love your channel !

Put my lashes back on and they were happy! Lol so I need lashes to make my clients happy! I love your techniques and tips. I appreciate all your help.

I hate using a brush with foundation; it’s so hard to keep the brush clean as bacteria settles on it with each use. You need like 5 brushes on constant rotation.

When I first started with foundation many moons ago, I had no idea why I was wearing it so I didn't color match properly, used my fingers, and didn't blend. For years, I allowed myself to walk around with a makeup mask. 😳
I think blending with the fingers can be done effectively, especially if stippling but sponge, brush, or fingers I think technique, patience, and thoroughness are key.

I used to over-powder with loose powder and a powder puff and didn’t sweep off the excess. I realized my mistake after giving a tall man a hug and saw I had left powder on the lapel of his suit. Ugh and embarrassing! I am now 65 (picture from 3 months ago) and use the slightest powder in the T-zone with a small brush. I have a cheeky face so I do place blush high, but I like a little on the upper apples and subtly across the bridge of my nose. I have a funky shaped bridge and either blush or bronzer across the bridge looks better than trying to slim my nose. Rather, I try to create more of a button nose effect. Great tips!
