Melissa I just couldn't agree with you more❤ so many beauty RUclipsrs are always repeating the same mistake....they go in with lighter shades of concealer instead of using a shade that suppose to match their complexion.Sad thing is most of them are younger and think they are actually helping the beauty community with their tips. There is a wrong way and a right way and thank you for showing the beauty community the right away of applying makeup. Without Wayne Goss & You Melissa there would be a huge void in the makeup community here on RUclips.❤
Agreed!!! When I first got back into makeup, I went with a lighter concealer and it always looked HORRIBLE - dry, cakey, grey cast showing through in inner corners. I started to think concealer just did not work for me until one day I accidentally got one a little darker than normal but it actually matched me perfectly and it looked great!! I went back and got shades that matched me as close as possible in concealers I tried in the past and thought were horrible and those worked well too!!! Makes such a difference to use a shade that matches!
As a woman in my early fifties it has been incredibly difficult to accept the changes in my skin! Because of your videos I don’t feel as hard on myself x You always try and be as inclusive as possible unlike other channels x Thank you
I love Jen Phelps too!! She's just so sweet & kind!!💓💓💓 I also had been seeing Rose Marie talking about where we place our bronzer/blush.. IT MADE SOOOO MUCH SENSE!💡🥰❤ Shes a great smart cookie!☺️ GREAT VIDEO SWEETNESS!!💟💜👑💜💟
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this step by step. I just purchased the Elf yesterday. Excited to give it a try. Appreciate the update on the brush too! You look beautiful!
I stopped powdering under my eyes because it ages me. Even Pat McGrath does. So I learned a tip from Mary at Glitzy Fritzy. To avoid creasing get a sponge after you apply concealer and spray it with setting spray. My eyes look so much better!
@@maryrose7842 no. The setting spray wets the sponge. I either use a flat sponge or a tiny sponge. But you can use the edge of a regular sponge. You can try dampening the sponge a little bit I guess if you want. If you let me know how it works. Ok?
@@maryrose7842 I would think if you spray it enough because the velour or puff whatever it is might absorb it. Give it a try. Tell you what I'll try the puff to! Good idea
Friend, you are reversing time! You look amazing. I agree, less is more when middle aged. I’m 56 and use the smallest amount to make my skin look its best. ❤
Melissa, i went out and bought that cover girl stuff in the classic ivory like you suggested. I really like it! Now i will use the techniques on this video!
Wow Melissa so beautiful ! I was wanting to try the Cover Girl Foundation. Maybe I can make it work with your technique. I follow Jen Phelps too, even though I’m older than her, she’s has my skin tone. I used to use the the Pixie peach concealer, and will be going back to it. Forgot how good it is. I’ll probably be trying out everything you used. Thanks, awesome video ! 💞💜💞
My favorite drugstore spray is the Neutrogena setting spray in the blue bottle. I think it’s the hydro boost formula (hydrating). It’s not super glowy or matte. No alcohol! (🙌) Love the mister too. I haven’t tried the radiant version yet. I also love the technique of blending the blush/bronzer up into the concealer. It’s beautiful. You look great in that dress!
You make it look so easy. My pores are huge(thanks to my dad's side). I'll try this...I'm more mature than you by 15 yrs or so...love your content!❤❤❤❤
I love watching your videos. I’m 67 years old and I’ve found that heavy foundation makes me look older. I only use mascara on my upper eyelashes. I don’t use much eyeshadow & I love a BB cream on work days especially during the summer months. You always look beautiful. I have my days when I don’t feel beautiful at all but I think that’s just the way I am. Thank you also for always being so uplifting to me.
I do minimal foundation, skintint too. And use cream products..my skinprep makes such a difference w/ minimal make up on top! Thx for the video Melissa❤
I enjoyed this video even though some of it doesn’t apply to me. Despite my age I still have combo skin in winter and slightly oily skin in the summer. I need all the powder. 😂 Plus the powder I use blurs my under eye lines and pores. I love Jen Phelps, she is fantastic. I just watched a recent video Kelly Gooch did last week about blush placement among things and how while lifting is popular especially amongst mature women it isn’t always best. Our faces are all different shapes. I have always had a narrow face and when I lost volume with age it got worse. I need to place products to fill out my face rather than lift it with everything (despite it being trendy to do so.) I’d love your take on face shapes and makeup etc. I am a former makeup artist so I tend to do my own thing for my own face and incorporate trends when they suit me.
Hi Carey. You're so right! Face shape needs to be taken into account everytime. And I think personal preference too. No matter what, we have the right to "decorate" our faces how we like & what we think looks good. Trends come on & out of fashion all the time.
What’s some favorite cool toned eyeshadow palettes that easy to blend and not an overwhelming about of colors in it. I have hazel green eyes and when I was younger …. Purples complimented my eyes. Now that I’m about to turn 65 this summer…. my eyeshadow techniques had to change. Sometimes… I just give up on it and that makes me sad.
I love the technique & love Jen Phelps as well. I have been enjoying Laura Geller Moisture Tint this Summer. Temperatures just reached the triple digits and a technique like the one you just shared is what I need. Haven't tried either of the foundations you shared, but elf was just kind enough to send me there lash extender tubing mascara & I was just putting in an order as they also sent me a 30% discount code. So I will add the foundation you shared. Thank you as always Melissa. By the way absolutely love the dress & will be checking it out.
I love Jen Phelps too Melissa and I have been watching her for a very long time. I love the look that you created with so little product. Thanks so much for the tips too Melissa. Beautiful finish!Your skin truly looks like skin here, Melissa, yet was perfected. Such a great technique. I need to pick up some puffs to use for pressing in my powder.
Nice video I’ve had a hard time with foundation for my face. I’m dry and I don’t like the way it shows my my lines. Especially around my mouth thank you for showing me a way I will definitely try this. Also, you look good. Stay blessed stay healthy.
You look lovely Melissa, less is more when it comes to foundation as we get older, I’m actually preferring to go foundation free on most days when I go out just to the shopping centre, a little concealer, bronzer, blush and put what’s left on my eyes, mascara and lipgloss, I haven’t seen those foundations available here in Australia in stores, both brands have limited stock with what they sell in stores here unfortunately 😢, Loved your pretty dress for Summer and the shoes. Hope you had a lovely weekend and a great week ahead. ❤️❤️
LOL I did the exact same thing.. Jen Phelps ->> RMS and then to your video. SO helpful! I just discovered the Revlon translucent powder in a whim at the grocery store a few days ago and my dry skin LOVES it! Thanks Melissa!! ❤
Melissa, did you misstate the source of that flat brush you used for the Pixi undereye brightener cream? I swear that's from Jen Phelps' collaboration with Doll 10 - not Sigma. I have two sets of her brushes, they are finest quality and have a great feel, well-balanced in the hand. I love your videos, especially if they involve in-depth technique details.
