Gehrman the First Hunter still makes me teary-eyed once in a while, even after all these years. Knowing what he went through, the fact that even though he is one of the final bosses, he is trying to help you. Trying to set you free from this horrid nightmare, helping you to see the rising sun.
Oh my God this has to be one of the most amazing video i ever saw. Love Bloodborne, and the fact that you saw through the lore of the characters by listening the songs, absolutely fantastic!
I never played Bloodborne, didn't have the right console. But the OST is unbelievably good. The haunting beauty and sadness in Gehrman....and you're right, one can hear the conflict.
I've never come across your channel before but I absolutely love this kind of content and hearing musicians react to these tracks and hearing the breakdown. I loved every second of this but genuinely my jaw dropped at 14:28 when you began playing along as well, i've listened to this piece hundreds of time so hearing something else added on top was really incredible.
i'm shocked at how much you were able to grasp about gehrman's backstory. this is probably gonna be a pretty long message, but gehrman's whole backstory is that, as the title suggests, he was the first person to hunt the beasts found in yharnam. he encouraged other people to join the hunt, and maria, (another boss covered in this video) being a distant relative of queen yharnam, joined the hunt as well. gehrman has a deep fascination and attraction (kind of a craziness as well) towards maria, and after she disappears during the hunt at the fishing hamlet, (the area right after maria, mentioned by her saying "oh, i know very well; how the secrets beckon so sweetly") gehrman pleads with the great ones to bring the doll seen in the hunter's dream to life. after a while, however, the novelty fades, leaving him bitter and frustrated at the fact that, while the doll is very much a resemblance of maria, she will NEVER be the real thing. gehrman is left trapped in the hunter's dream until the end of the game, in which you can choose to die by his hand, defeat him in battle, or even become a great one yourself. something else somewhat tragic to note is that, in unreleased files of the game, there's dialogue of gehrman begging laurence and willem (other pioneering hunters) to let him escape from this dream.
@takeoutcentral The secrets go even further. Look at mother Kos' head or inside her mouth (looks like lady Marias face), and Kos' cry in the cutscene before the fight sounds much like Gehrman's cry.
@@GAM2bia knowing the symbolism that goes over people’s heads sometimes regarding these games i wouldn’t be surprised if miyazaki did intend something like that, but the lore videos i’ve seen by ppl like vaatividya have made it pretty clear that the two are distinct; idk what sort of admiration micolash would have for kos if it just happened to be gehrman and not a crazy powerful great one that was the sole reason responsible for the blood-drunk hunters in the hunter’s nightmare

Very insightful commentary on this wonderful soundtrack, one of my favourite game soundtracks out there. Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower is my personal stand out piece in the Bloodborne OST; the suspenseful build up, and the progression just keeps holding you on the edge of the seat; one suspension going into a resolution that just goes into the next cycle. I think "Holy Choir!" sums up perfectly my own reaction the first time I heard it :D

I generally never notice soundtracks in games, it tends to fade into the background because my lil adhd brain struggles to focus on multiple things at once, but bloodborne is the only soulsborne game that's the exception to this rule for me. The soundtrack is so goddamn good
The music for Bloodborne was actually written by several different composers from around the world as well as FromSoft's main composers. The main menu music is a piece called "The Night Unfurls" and is written by Ryan Amon. I do not pretend to know very much about him but he has written some film scores, at least the score for Elysium. The OST is amazing and was probably made possible through Sony since they also published the game and hold the rights.
"Beautiful dissonance" sums up the Bloodborne soundtrack pretty well, I think! Pleeeease do a part two! Especially including Ludwig The Accursed & Holy Blade

I love that it sounds like a sirens call for the menu them, drawing you into eldritch mystery that is bloodborne
I played the game, but I had never listened to the soundtrack with headphones before. It really is THICC
Welcome aboard and thank you for the kind words!
i'm shocked at how much you were able to grasp about gehrman's backstory. this is probably gonna be a pretty long message, but gehrman's whole backstory is that, as the title suggests, he was the first person to hunt the beasts found in yharnam. he encouraged other people to join the hunt, and maria, (another boss covered in this video) being a distant relative of queen yharnam, joined the hunt as well. gehrman has a deep fascination and attraction (kind of a craziness as well) towards maria, and after she disappears during the hunt at the fishing hamlet, (the area right after maria, mentioned by her saying "oh, i know very well; how the secrets beckon so sweetly") gehrman pleads with the great ones to bring the doll seen in the hunter's dream to life. after a while, however, the novelty fades, leaving him bitter and frustrated at the fact that, while the doll is very much a resemblance of maria, she will NEVER be the real thing. gehrman is left trapped in the hunter's dream until the end of the game, in which you can choose to die by his hand, defeat him in battle, or even become a great one yourself. something else somewhat tragic to note is that, in unreleased files of the game, there's dialogue of gehrman begging laurence and willem (other pioneering hunters) to let him escape from this dream.
@@takeoutcentral uhm that dialogue isn’t unreleased you can still obtain that dialogue through specific sequences of in game actions. But what’s actually more interesting than anything you have to say is the woman that have many eyes on their head that inflict frenzy are actually the doll.
@@romanchavez5408 the winter lanterns? that can be seen in the nightmare of mensis and the nightmare frontier in the base game, as well? and were likely used as common enemies in the dlc due to the fact that fromsoft dlcs are known for their heightened difficulty? there’s gotta be pretty big flags convincing me that those were nothing more than a design decision on the team’s part, and i was well aware of the fact that the clothes under their heads are the clothes of the doll
@@takeoutcentral too much clinging to unofficial assumptive lore videos while disregarding the actual content in the game for me
I would love to see a collab between you and MarcoMeatball. He's a retired professional Opera Singer and now a Voice Actor. He does a lot of musical break downs related to video games and it would be awesome to see you two make a video together!
OMG your violin part for Gehrman was perfect! Can't wait for more Bloodborne reactions!
18:08 THE. DEATH. CHOIR.
I began calling that choir moment by that name because when game streamers get to that phase of the bossfight, they would usually suffer a quick defeat.
Thank you SO MUCH for highlighting these songs and this game. It is my favorite game and the soundtrack is equally as perfect. Something about the music of this masterpiece just makes me feel ALIVE.
I was listening to this while at work (so not fully watching) and I went "wow I don't recall the violin being that prominent" and then I flip back to the video and you're playing along with it perfectly by ear on your cool red violin. That takes skill dude, well done
WOW the way you played with the song after was completely insane. subbed instantly
By far the best song in any soulsborne game ever is the Ludwig the accursed/holy blade. The blend of strings and high vocals is insane and gives me goosebumps every time I fight him.
11:19 My man is having an eargasm lmao
This man deserves recognition, he knows the exact story of the character through the music.
A testament to this man and the composer of the OST.
This shit makes me emotional and I don’t care to admit it ❤
You gave me goosebump and made me tear when u started playing violin at 15 that was beautiful
Blood Starved Beast is a soundtrack that feels desperate, primal, and sets off something inside me. I love it as well as the Vicar Amelia fight theme.
9:20 "conflicted mind, mental battle" very impressive for someone who hasnt played or seen the game. And shows how amazing the music is done in this game. Especially this fight.
The first hunter theme has been my favorite song since 2019, first time I heard playing the game, but today that small cover u did make it EVEN MORE EMOTIONAL TO ME
I loved most of the sound track in this game but the drop into the chorus in the first hunter sent chills down my spine.
The fact you play as an example is just *MUAH*
Keep this up man, I always love seeing people’s first impressions of Souls tracks!
I don't think I can ever listen to Gehrman, The First Hunter again without your addition popping into my mind. An irrevocable addition, truly beautiful. Thank you.
So glad I saw this and reminded me in small part of why I loved this game’s setting and design so much I purchased a new console solely for one game. Just an absolute masterpiece.
Thank you so much for the your support!
You should totally listen to the Cleric Beast ost next, its one of my favorite.
Dude, I don't know you, just met your channel, but I LOVE Bloodborne and I love how it blew you away. I loved the passion you felt from this. This game has such a big place in my heart and I'm so glad that even though you won't play it, you can appreciate it in another way ❤
I love the parts where you just play something on top of the pieces. Fits always perfectly
this is my favorite game of all time and the soundtrack is so important to telling its story. your appreciation for the music is so heartwarming
Gehrman's music theme gives me goosebumps every time. It's so beautiful and sad at the same time
Your reaction to when the choir enters in during Gehrman, the First Hunter is how it hits me every time, legitimately one of my favorite pieces of music ever made. So glad you covered some Bloodborne, incredible soundtrack.
I enjoy how you take in the music, like you vessalize the music and feel it. 100/10 reaction since you explain yourself with musical terms
My goodness I have watched this video so many times not only because of Bloodborne being my favorite game but how you educationally broke this down and the expressions this brought along as you listened brought me joy! One of my personal favorites is Father Gascoigne theme.
If I was ever to recommend a bloodborne ost, it would DEFINITELY be the living failures ost. I am 100% sure you would love it. It's one of those hidden gems you would miss because how the actual boss gets overlooked. Please, you have to check it out. You will not regret it. Also amazing video, I love your reactions and breakdowns. Always makes my day.
@@cosmingafita1956 living failures is soooo slept on the BB ost. Easily top 3 imo. Ludwig's is great, but i think it takes too much attention from the other dlc bangers
Just one of the plenty reasons why Bloodborne its so special for me
THANK MOTHER KOS! PLEASE DO MORE BLOODBORNE! DO LAURENCE THE FIRST VICAAR AND LIVING FAILURES!
Loved your reaction on Maria 18:08! Just how I felt it when I played the game. Goosebumps!
Thoroughly enjoyed your reaction and analysis. Pls pls pls do a part 2 of this with "Father Gasgoine" and "Ludwig the holy blade" themes. ✌🏻
@@foxhound931 yes !!!
Epic, frightening, unpleasant, bewildering, overwhelming. I always get chills from the Bloodborne OST.
Oh, and beautiful. Thanks for this video.
Gotta check out Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos! One of the most interesting tracks from Bloodborne imo
A lot of people can't get into the depth of the dissonance on that one and don't quite see how it's moving. Honestly not an easy track. One of the best in fromsoft lineup though.
in every video reaction of lady Maria's theme, I see them reacting with the video that cuts the part of the song that for me is the strongest and most epic part. It is sad but... OH WELL XD. It was a joy to see you reacting to these masterpieces!
THE BLOOD IS CALLING TO USE ALL BUT DO WE ANSWER IT!!!
Basically you described the backstory about those characters, and I love it, that’s why I love fromsoftware games, attention to detail is amazing
Please do the best songs from Bloodborne:
• Father Gascoine
• Ludwing the Accursed
• Laurence the First Vicar
Having played Bloodborne multiple times. Many of these tracks bring a tear to my eye. Even playing the game, I find myself crying during the fight. COK, Lady Maria, The first Vicar, and Ludvvig's 2 part. All have the emotions portrayed through the fight actions and music describing the past, present, and potential future.
I really love the new direction of your videos. The editing was very good and the content was informative!
Hawaii: Part II is the first album by ミラクルミュージカル (Miracle Musical), a side project of the band TallyHall. The album was released independently on 12/12/12 at 12:12:12 a.m.
It features themes of outer space, ancient mysticism, tropical paradise, parallel universes, love and murder.
It is compposed of 11 tracks and it is a strange musical.
You might like it
Since 2015 I have invested over 3,000 hours into Bloodborne. The ost is formidable. I shall however suggest the Abyss Watchers, and Midir scores from Dark Souls III.
Destiny 2 Original Soundtrack - Track 01 - Inner Light . Whatever ppl say give this franchise a chance and look this song up trust me Bungie have some of the most memorable music in videogames .
Destiny 2: Forsaken Original Soundtrack - Track 19 - The Man They Called Cayde
Would love you to do Cleric Beast as well if you ever do more, this is so good - Gerhman always makes me sob
FINALLY, I WAS WAITING OVER A YEAR FOR THIS LESGOO
Very insightful commentary on this wonderful soundtrack, one of my favourite game soundtracks out there. Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower is my personal stand out piece in the Bloodborne OST; the suspenseful build up, and the progression just keeps holding you on the edge of the seat; one suspension going into a resolution that just goes into the next cycle. I think "Holy Choir!" sums up perfectly my own reaction the first time I heard it :D
You should truly give Bloodborne a try. Hearing the music while following the game in lore and during the fights makes them even more enjoyable. Being good or not, the game is worth a play. Their soundtracks are amazing.
Also glad to have found your channel again after I changed channels years ago. I had to search in your videos but I remember when you were the Mini Mario Orchestra.
Tonight.... ,Gerhman Joins the Hunt!
Absolutely loved your analysis and commentary , made me hear things I overlooked before
FINALLY!!! You're so good at this!! One of my favorites game!
I just discovered your channel and WOW! As a music lover and pianist, I love your work and the way you decrypt the pieces of music. I’ll stick on your channel for a while, that’s for sure 😊. Thanks for sharing this content, this is exactly one of the rare perl you find from time to time ❤
Hearing Gehrman's theme on here made tears well in my eyes. I'm so happy to hear your thoughts on it!
Thank you for reacting to the Bloodborne soundtrack, the music was incredible and your reaction was too. One learns a lot.. :)
14:27 - Wow, I didn't expect you to play along with the track, that was really beautiful!
Bloodborne's OST is one of the only few that consistently give me chills, goosebumps, and a heavy feeling in my heart, that no other can give.
"Beautiful dissonance" sums up the Bloodborne soundtrack pretty well, I think!
Pleeeease do a part two! Especially including Ludwig The Accursed & Holy Blade
The entirety of this games OST is absolute bliss Bloodborne is a masterpiece down to every last pixel
Love how you play during the reactions! Super cool 🙏🏼
I always love watching classically learned musicians listen to this soundtrack, it has been and always will be my favorite ost FromSoftware has ever made
i've been waiting for this video!!!! hope you continue to react to the OST
I will. Here's an ongoing suggestion thread: ruclips.net/user/postUgkxbMtYFjwaBe_zpSuwGnOAITwZuDTLFbFf
