Easily atmosphere. In true souls fashion, just about everything looks and feels beautifully dreadful in often different ways, but in this case with a gothic victorian aesthetic
The aesthetic and atmosphere are peak in Bloodborne, it really hits the world based story telling and the music does such a service to the game it’s awesome. If you have the chance, The First Hunter is probably my favorite song Bloodborne’s OST and one I think you would have a TON of fun listening to and breaking down.
This was the first game of soulsborne that I played. Hands down one of the most frustrating, haunting, beautiful, and fantastic games I've ever played. Best thing about the game is definitely the atmosphere. It leaves with an overwhelming sense of dread, despair, curiosity(if you play the game and find yourself researching the lore you understand), and hope.....I tiny bit of hope.
The word I'd use to describe the second movement of the song would be 'Vindication'. Ludwig was right the entire time... the blade was always with him. Violent and indignant vindication.
That is one of the things I acbsolutely love in From Soft soundtracks. They arent just made to try and trigger emotion. Obviously they are too, and succeed exeedingly well at it, this thimng always gives me so much creeps that I get goosebumps, but they also always tell a story and comment on what is happening.
I like how the last line of the chorus says something like "and blood will be abundant" just when it stops being dissonant, right before the brass hits like a greatsword. Yes, I know my blood will be abundant, guys, thanks.
I love how Bloodborne fans never get tired of explaining to newcomers how the shift in the song happens because Ludwig regains his sanity and the boss fight switches up! It's my first time on this channel, but this was a great breakdown. More soundtrack reactions from From Software games, please!
The thing about the theme though is the discordant 1st part matches the beastlike mental state of Ludwig; the more tragically heroic, brass led 2nd part represents a slither of the man Ludwig used to be as he even assumes a more human stance. A perfect juxtaposition.
Bloodborne has an amazing OST overall, and every boss theme is related to the boss itself. This one is about a knight which becomes an unsightly beast and loses his sanity, that’s why the first half is more of a beast lurking nearby. Mid-fight, he recovers the sword he used to have and his “knighthood” comes back while still being a beast, reflecting on the song becoming more energic and epic. Really excited for you reviewing Bloodborne OST.
this song in game is powerful as hell, and the fact that it's accompanied by Ludwig's HORRIFIC screams of anguish really take this to a different level
Seriously... as epic and badass as the fight is overall, everything about that first phase is terrifying... the general ambiance, his bizarre demonic hell beast design and even just the way he moves is so... unsettling... and then that god awful shrieking... ugh... creeps me right TF out, man... when the fact that the fight takes place in the middle of a gigantic pile of corpses is the *least* disturbing thing going on, that’s some next level shit... But NGL, when he said “Even in this darkest of nights, I can still see... the moonlight...” I shed a single, manly tear. Dude went out like a champ. Rest In Power, Ludwig. ✊ I mean I still looted his sword tho, cause that joint is lit. (Pun totally intended.)
Bloodborne as a game is dripping with a unique atmosphere - classical Victorian horror meets cosmic horror - and the soundtrack superbly captures that atmosphere. For further Bloodborne tracks, I recommend the themes for Father Gascoigne, Gehrman, or Amygdala.
Lady Maria OST, Laurence, The First Vicar OST, The Living Failures OST, and Gehrman, the First Hunter are also incredible from Bloodborne. Then we have Dark Souls 3 with Twin Princes, Sister Friede, Midir, Slave Knight Gael, and Soul of Cinder OST's. The thing with these songs is they embody who they are about, they tell a story. This one has a definitive transition, where Ludwig regains a portion of his humanity back mid fight, and his animalistic fighting style abruptly changes to a stoic duelist akin to a waltz. Hence why it is called The Accursed AND the Holy Blade. You will find the other OST's in FromSoft games follow this trend of being music as a story about the character it is about.
I had the pleasure of seeing the FromSoft orchestra perform the Bloodborne OST live in Chicago and when I say I was absolutely amazed by the sheer musical (and technical) talent these artists have would be an understatement. Ludwig's theme will forever be one of my favorite orchestral works.
From bloodborne, "Lady Maria OST" is also brilliant. You should have a look at Persona 5's OST and Nier Automata. They have very different soundtracks, Persona being more funky while Nier has a good mix of weird and beautiful music, but they are both worth looking into. To start of I'd say "Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There" or "Life Will Change" for persona 5, and "Weight of the World" with Japanese lyrics for Nier Automata. The last one is an emotional rollercoaster of a song, both because the song is at the end of one of the games paths and because of the emotional performance of the vocalist. It also has a version called "Weidght of the World/the End of YoRHa" which combines 4 different versions of the song (English, Japanese, Chaos Language and Pixel style) and is only played at the end of the last path of the game.
@avologia I'm a year late but Automatas music is way better than replicant/gestalts. Both in terms of sound production quality, orchestration, number of tracks, variations of each track. There's 3 versions of yonah instrumental, 4 versions of ashes of dreams which is just yonah but orchestral, and there's dance of the evanescent which is yonah as a waltz. So 8 songs off of 1 motif. I know they were limited by budget and time, but that doesn't change that you're still only getting 1 song rehashed 8 times. Then there's song of the ancients which can kind of get a free pass but it's still also 1 song turned into 4. The hills of radiant winds motif is used 3 times. Once in lost forest and I think in seafront too. Then there's dispossesion which is done like 3 or 4 times instrumental just like yonah. Emil has 2 versions of his song. Kaine has 2 versions. The game is absolutely filled with repetitions of it's own songs. Then stack on top of that the fact they reuse so many songs again and again during the game. The amount of times kaine salvation played was asinine. Automata doesn't repeat itself nearly as much as replicant/gestalt. You've got weight of the world, but each version has a different singer singing in a different language and with different lyrics that correspond to different characters. City ruins has 2 versions but is also sang by 2 different singers with different lyrics, and has completely different instrumentals. 2 versions of vague hope. Same singer but very different instrumentals. That's basically it. To rub salt in the wound Automata has on average 3-4 variations of each song and it doesn't even count these variations on the official ost list. If Automatas ost played by replicants rules then Automata would have almost 140 songs. Even more if you want to mix and match vocals with different variations or count the 8 bit hacking space versions of the tracks. Replicant/gestalt is the 2nd best ost of all time, but number 1 is easily NieR:Automata
The shift between the “accursed” section and the “holy blade” section send chills down my spine every single time. The first time I played the game, when that brass drop happened, Ludwig brought the sword to his face and opened his eye in time with the drop. It was so fucking chilling and epic. Seeing this hideous monster you’ve been fighting rise up as this noble hero of the past.
The second part of Ludwig's theme is easily my favorite track in the game, the transition with its cutscene is phenomenal and while you're fighting during that second part the chorus and the choir are so often well-timed with the choreography of the fight itself. It's just *chef kiss*
The most impressive thing about this piece is that without ever seeing the boss fight that it's from, the language that you used to describe the music fits almost perfectly with that character's backstory as well as visual style & even fighting style. Truly masterful work, & great vid as always brother
i still like how the celestial emissary is supposed to be a complete and correct version of the living failures yet is complete dogshit on everything when compared to them
Glad you noticed that 123 456 pacing to the 2nd half of the soundtrack! I remember most musicians who hear this part refer to it as the “dance of death”(or more accurately, a *”waltz* of death”)
@@DrumRollTonyReacts As said, can't recommend Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower enough. Orphan of Kos and Gehrman, the First Hunter are also superb, but the _whole_ soundtrack of Soulsborne games generally is.
Every bloodborne song is a whole experience, my first playthrough was magical getting to hear these masterpieces in the background (Edit) I also played tuba in highschool but had to drop out of college due to issues in my family, I hope one day I can pick it up to learn to play music like this
Ever since I've heard the Holy Blade part (the 2nd half) I had a dream to see or take part with a gothic/victorian themed waltz arrangement with this song, absolutely love it. As for other Bloodborne OSTs i highly recommend Laurence the First Vicar and the Cleric Beast themes (the latter even has a playstation-provided recording from the, well, recording session of the piece)
I've watched a few of your videos tonight and I really like that you mention things in a track mix I may not even be paying attention to. I also like that you rewind so I can pick it out in the mix. I'm always listening from the top, focusing on upper melody or the harmonic progression, but you remind me to listen to the lower or more subtle voices. Practicing listening, and especially re-listening, is valuable for composers.
The brass drop in this piece is great. In your face and full of power. "evil" music is something that isn't really explored as much as it probably could be. Especially in the classical realm. This is part of the reason why I like the Ar Tonelico series. Where they aren't afraid to have pieces that are just pure dread.
Fun fact about the song, the Latin actually sings about Ludwig and his story. Latin lyrics: Oh venator Beatus Sanctus Bonum fati par dia Domus Aeternus fiat morte Perit sanguine opulentum English translation: Oh, hunter. Blessed saint. An honest death is like a blessing. Let death come once and for all. Plenteous blood is lost Latin lyrics: Mūtaveras tue bēstia turpis Mūtavisse tuī fuit at diu ut Doceat in propinquo fuerat te Mūtari sanguine bēluae tuī Dominus venātorum est preases cum nitere Luna Venātorum dominus monitor prīmus Venātor prīnceps sanguinem mittere Prīmum sanguine bēluae mūtāverat Nē mūtat est bēluae English translation: Mutated into an unsightly beast Mutated a long, long time ago Still, as a mentor, I always were at your side Even when you had turned into a beast The master of the hunters, who stood guard in the night with his moonlight The first hunter who organised the folks to hunt The first hunter of blood And one of the first who mutated into vile beasts by the blood You turned into a beast. Latin lyrics: Oh venator Ejus Sanctus Tuam Fati Par Dia Dolus Deitus Fiat Morte Erit Sanguinem Opulentum English translation: Oh, hunter. That Saint. The Divine Partner of your fate May it come by mean of the Death, the Departed(or Missing) Blame (or Pain) The Blood will flow in abundant
These are not the actual lyrics. Tony has all comment linking blocked so if you want the actual lyrics add what's pasted below to the end of the youtube URL. The official lyrics can't even be learned by translating literally because of some convoluted stuff but what you wrote isn't the correct latin nor english. Apparently FromSoft also makes things convoluted in real life... Anyways the guy I (half) linked has another video explaining why that is. /watch?v=ShEjdUFWIHQ
@biggestt.t6920 I kinda get why there is misinformation since a lot of the main game songs are actually in latin , idk if they're proper latin or not but atleast the words are , but most the dlc songs ( which ludwig is a part of ) aren't in latin and are just made up to sound similar to it . with the exception of laurence i believe . And their other games like dark souls and elden ring follow suit by having their songs not in latin
The symbols crashes during the big choir moments in the second half of the track give me chills every time, I can literally see Ludwig’s moonlight blade cutting through the air at the player while synced up with the symbols ahh so good.
You should also listen to Cleric Beast theme and Laurence, The First Vicar. Composer is Yuka Kitamura and she wrote amazing soundtracks to all of souls games. I'm crying when listening to them. So-o-o good
Very good music but it's Tsukasa Saitoh, not Yuka Kitamura. It starts to get annoying when Yuka gets credit for everything. FromSoftware has more than one composer you know.
@@darktip Yuka did the majority of the music for Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro. However, that isn't true for Bloodborne and Elden Ring. Just 4 of Bloodborne's tracks are credited to her from what I've seen. The majority composers for Bloodborne are Ryan Amon and Tsukasa Saitoh with 12 and 6 tracks respectively.
@@wi0.24se The only song that I remember from Mgsv is The man who sold the world, and that's only because they must've reference the whole game around it 😒
I discovered your channel tonight and man I'm so happy I did. My Dad was a drummer and music teacher and unfortunately I inherited none of his gifts but you remind me so much of him the way you talk about music. Thank you for that
Since you mentioned your love of layers, you absolutely MUST listen to Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower from Bloodborne, even if only on your own time. To this day I would consider it the best piece of music to come out of a video game. Awesome analysis as always, I look forward to seeing where you go from here!
Loved your reaction on Ludwig, The Holy Blade, Bloodborne has such an epic, orchestral soundtrack. I hope you react to some more! The ‘Cleric Beast’ is very iconic, would LOVE to see you breakdown that piece. 💕 Gives me shivers to this day hearing it play out.
Love the breakdown! Really like the style of you giving your thoughts in the moment as they come up. Gehrman, The First Hunter is another wonderful Bloodborne track. Also pretty sinister but much more subdued with a haunting, kinda sad tone to it.
The latin that comes in on phase two is sung from the perspective of Ludwig's weapon The Moonlight Greatsword, which sings about how great of a Hunter Ludwig was before his fall to madness. It is heavily implied that gis sword restores his sanity halfway through the bossfight so he can die to you honorably as a warrior and so it can prove itself worthy to you, its potential new wielder.
We all love that moment where you start getting familiar with a boss and realize that the OST actually slaps, only to then start bopping your head to every second of the boss fight.
Laurence, the First Vicar Is probably my favorite piece from Bloodborne (on one of my least favorite bosses lol). I think you'd enjoy it. Others would be: Living Failures, Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower, Orphan of Kos (every boss theme from the DLC).
From Bloodborne, absolutely check out these: "Living Failures", "Maria of the Astral Clocktower", and "Gehrman, The First Hunter". The first two are the themes of bosses that take place after Ludwig's, and the third is one of the final boss themes of the base game.
No love for Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos? She had such a different theme from the rest of the bosses we face. Emits a sound of Holiness and tranquility, yet despair and fragility.
i love ludwigs ost. not just because how it sounds like, but you hear everywhere, how great ludwig was and when you then finally see him in his beast form, u just feel weirded out. But then he enters his second phase, regains his sanity, remembers the moonlight greatsowrd, which he then uses till he dies and the music just kicks in. Experiencing that for the first time was my personal highlight of Bloodborne. Such a great game and the music is soooo good.
The song feels amazing all on its own, and yet it goes even further when you're listening to it while you fight. It's paired so perfectly with the fight it feels otherworldly.
I remember finding your channel months ago when you were at 10k subs listening to the Jojo openings. Now you're already at 64k subs. Keep up the amazing work!
Every 2 to 3 months i love listenting to people knowing stuff about music listening to to great things like this or made in abyss or attack on titan or undertale. I just enjoy but understanding how people like you break everything apart for better understanding is great
@@Al-ji4gd I think it tells the best story out of all the songs. It's sad, and quiet, like the lonely dying fire at the end of the world, and it's champion that once was so grand, brought low to a nameless undead. Compositionally it's simple, but it really evokes a lot of emotions from the context. "This is it, this is all that's left after everything else ends." It hits me hard.
@@feral_orc Yeah, it's just a bit too simple and repetitive for me to like it that much, though I will grant it does do all those things you say. It's also hyped up a bit too much by the fandom.
Absolutely love this track! And no surprise my favourite part is the heavy and loud back and forth in phase 2. Very much like a dark/chaotic waltz which perfectly emphasizes the fight itself and Ludwig becomes much more composed in Phase 2. Would love to hear your reaction to Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower from the very same DLC or Laurence the first Vicar :)
This is a great breakdown. You would DEFINITELY dig the rest of the Bloodborne soundtrack. If you want more "dark-sounding" stuff I highly recommend Master Boot Record for symphonic synth metal, FTP off Internet Protocol is a great intro (as is the whole album). Maybe not great for the channel but consider it a mixtape slid over by a friend for personal use :).
The amazing thing about this piece is I'm almost positive the sound designers, QA, and gameplay designers collaborated to make sure the big brass drop will generally happen at or close to a very specific and climactic moment during the boss fight. They would have had to taylor the boss' behaviour and health pool so closely, and understand their players and gameplay so well to pull that off, because it isn't scripted, it just happens that way in most normal circumstances. The whole battle is a masterpiece.
a cool thing about this boss i find is that when u fight him when he goes stage 2 without realising it u start to fight to the beat of the music and thats skill right their to draw u in that much u fight to a beat without even knowing its their
I love this song so much, it has such immaculate vibes and works so incredibly well in the context of the fight, as the two tell a story. Bloodborne has a lot of fantastic tracks, especially since it's the only game from the studio where the songs were recorded by real choirs and orchestras. Some personal recommendations are the Hunter (Father Gascoigne), Cleric Beast, the last Hunter (Gehrman) and Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower. All the modern FromSoftware games have great soundtrack, so I'm also just gonna recommend the Abyss Watchers from Dark Souls 3 and the Godskin Apostle/ Noble from Elden Ring. Anyway, loved your take on this. Keep it up!
Bloodborne has several fantastic tracks. Cleric Beast, Father Gascoigne, Living Failures, and Lady Maria of The Astral Clocktower are some of my favorites, but Ludwig the Holy Blade will always be my favorite.
The truly crazy part is that the choir is speaking latin and it correlates with the horror that is this boss fight. This is hands down the best track in all of fromsoft's history. It was and still is peak
Fun fact, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the director of the game and president of Fromsoftware is a huge fan of classical music, in particular of Ludwig van Beethoven (hence the name of the boss). In all of his games appears a moonlight sword. It's a tribute to Beethoven's Moonlight sonate.
@@pandooju i don't think the last part is true tho, since the Moonlight Greatsword has been existing for like 20 years well before Miyazaki joined Fromsoftware in the game King's Field.
I know this is an older video so you may not be reading these comments, but I really appreciate your channel. I really like these sorts of music reaction/analysis channels, and the number of times I’ve seen videos from other channels where they just kind of go “woah that was sick! Anyway guys thanks for watching.” Was a bit disheartening lol. So the fact that you take time to appreciate the specific elements in a song is really nice. Definitely expected from a drum corps nerd lol.
This composition is truly brilliant. Great to listen to as a stand-alone piece but written to be entertaining as a looped track since it plays during a boss fight and they have varied length. This is also two separate tracks. Ludwig, the Accursed is the first half and Ludwig, the Holy Blade is the 2nd half (first stage and second stage of the fight in-game). Honestly the entire Bloodborne OST is great. Not all of it is interesting to dissect since it has some pieces that are meant to be atmospheric/background. But basically any boss theme is worth a deeper look. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for checking it out :D
Bloodborne is my favorite game of all time and this is my favorite piece in in so I’m always ecstatic to see more people react to it. My other favorites are The First Hunter, The First Vicar, Lady Maria, and the Living Failures
Do Laurence the first vicar next, tbh the best ost i've heard in any soulsborne game. You can hear the tragedy of the backstory in the song itself. A masterpiece.
Definitely recommend "The Hunter" from the same OST. It's the theme of the very first required boss fight, Father Gascoigne. It's a bit shorter, since each distinct section is meant to loop, but it kicks like a mule. You'll see why.
i'm so happy to see that you reacted to a bloodborne track!!! this is literally my favorite game of all time so getting to see your reaction to one of the best songs in the ost and also just in general is very special to me, i would love love LOVE seeing your reaction to another track from the old hunters dlc, "laurence, the first vicar"
One of the things that's stuck with me after watching a different reaction is that the person reacting also noted that 1,2,3 pattern and described the feeling of it as: "A Dance of Death" Which is very accurate both to the song and in game the actual fight and the way you and Ludwig move.
I would love for you to hear the Living Failures OST from Bloodborne. It takes inspiration from romantic composers in all the best ways, and paints a very good picture of the themes of the boss fight.
I turn into a conductor when ever I play this masterpiece, I always try to fight bosses according to the music. Its like a beautiful dance of death and destruction.
Father Gascoigne's boss fight is the first you can come across on the main road of the game and serves as a great introduction to the lore the player will find later on. Of course its OST is one of the best of the game imo. Or if you want something darker, you could listen to the Witches of Hemwick's OST or to The One Reborn's OST. There are a lot more OSTs in this game worth listening to, all with their own story to tell.
Hi man! I've been binging a few of your vids and really enjoyed you breaking down the DOOM ones, I'd love to hear your take on the Killer Instinct OST Mick did. Every song is so different, from the electronic pop-like "Touch me and I'll break your face", the chanting in "warlord", the tense strings of "Lycanthropy" or even the hip-hop vibes of "I'm Back (to Rise!)". They all are incredibly different and really show you just how versatile Mick can be!
I ask this with a burning passion, PLEASE review some of the sound track from NieR:Automata. That game has some of the greatest video game music I’ve ever heard. At the very least, the first major boss theme “A Beautiful Song” is honestly amazing.
Bloodborne Soundtrack OST - Laurence, The First Vicar (The Old Hunters) Extended + Clean and Bloodborne Soundtrack OST - Lady Maria (The Old Hunters) my personal favorites for sure
There is a live orchestra rendition of the theme song that is absolutely astounding. Try to look for the SCORE concert and just type bloodborne with it. I would love to see your take on that.
Ludwig the Acursed was once a great hunter that fights with a magical sword that sings and talks to him. When the player meets him though he has been distorted into a horrific monster lurking in a massive cathedral full of blood and corpses. His sanity gone as he screeches and attacks anything in sight. the music for the fist half represents that sadness. the transition is is long lost freind the sword waking him up and he regains part of his sanity. now fighting on two legs upright like a man although still a monster. the song then become this horrific waltz of death as you dance with the monster avoiding his blade and tearing each other appart. Bloodborne has so many great moments and so much good music. Lady Maria, Laurence the first Vicar, Father Gascoigne, Ebriatas Dauther of the Cosmos, The Living Faliures and the First Hunter are just a few great ones.

Disfigured and malformed, sure. But clear of mind once more.
And talk/ speak humanly. It's both chilling and uplifting
@@hafirenggayudahis voice acting is top notch too, really adds to it.
The second part of Ludwig's theme is easily my favorite track in the game, the transition with its cutscene is phenomenal and while you're fighting during that second part the chorus and the choir are so often well-timed with the choreography of the fight itself. It's just *chef kiss*
You and Ludwig dance a waltz of death to the music of course.
i hate how these people speak
“Ahh, you were at my side all along..”
I always think Ludwig ost is mid. Thr Hunter, Omen, Cleric Beast, Laurence, Lady Maria, Gherman... much better ones
The most impressive thing about this piece is that without ever seeing the boss fight that it's from, the language that you used to describe the music fits almost perfectly with that character's backstory as well as visual style & even fighting style. Truly masterful work, & great vid as always brother
The living failures is a mid boss, but their theme is godlike
Underrated asf as well
I mean, they're living failures.
i still like how the celestial emissary is supposed to be a complete and correct version of the living failures yet is complete dogshit on everything when compared to them
@@whyareyouhere6274 doesnt mean theyre not powerful, theyre just not great ones
@@konradlamm9243 it's a joke about how he called it a mid boss
Glad you noticed that 123 456 pacing to the 2nd half of the soundtrack! I remember most musicians who hear this part refer to it as the “dance of death”(or more accurately, a *”waltz* of death”)
Because that is what exactly is what you and Ludwig are doing at phase 2
@@RX0_GundamUnicorn 2nd phase is wayyyy easier than phase 1 for some reason
@@Overqualification because that way of fighting is best for Man vs Beast type battle, not Man vs Man

Laurence, the First Vicar OST and Gehrman, the First Hunter OST are phenomenal. Definitely worth checking out
😮😮 Omg I love that you reacted to the Bloodborne OST! It's incredible!
More of that to come
@@DrumRollTonyReacts Lady Maria👀
@@DrumRollTonyReacts As said, can't recommend Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower enough. Orphan of Kos and Gehrman, the First Hunter are also superb, but the _whole_ soundtrack of Soulsborne games generally is.
Every bloodborne song is a whole experience, my first playthrough was magical getting to hear these masterpieces in the background
(Edit)
I also played tuba in highschool but had to drop out of college due to issues in my family, I hope one day I can pick it up to learn to play music like this
Ever since I've heard the Holy Blade part (the 2nd half) I had a dream to see or take part with a gothic/victorian themed waltz arrangement with this song, absolutely love it. As for other Bloodborne OSTs i highly recommend Laurence the First Vicar and the Cleric Beast themes (the latter even has a playstation-provided recording from the, well, recording session of the piece)
But my friend, you do take part in a waltz. Every time you fight Ludwig, The Holy Blade. A devilish and lethal waltz.
Latin lyrics:
Oh venator
Beatus Sanctus
Bonum fati par dia
Domus Aeternus fiat morte
Perit sanguine opulentum
English translation:
Oh, hunter.
Blessed saint.
An honest death is like a blessing.
Let death come once and for all.
Plenteous blood is lost
Latin lyrics:
Mūtaveras tue bēstia turpis
Mūtavisse tuī fuit at diu ut
Doceat in propinquo fuerat te
Mūtari sanguine bēluae tuī
Dominus venātorum est preases cum nitere Luna
Venātorum dominus monitor prīmus
Venātor prīnceps sanguinem mittere
Prīmum sanguine bēluae mūtāverat
Nē mūtat est bēluae
English translation:
Mutated into an unsightly beast
Mutated a long, long time ago
Still, as a mentor, I always were at your side
Even when you had turned into a beast
The master of the hunters, who stood guard in the night with his moonlight
The first hunter who organised the folks to hunt
The first hunter of blood
And one of the first who mutated into vile beasts by the blood
You turned into a beast.
Latin lyrics:
Oh venator
Ejus Sanctus
Tuam Fati Par Dia
Dolus Deitus Fiat Morte
Erit Sanguinem Opulentum
English translation:
Oh, hunter.
That Saint.
The Divine Partner of your fate
May it come by mean of the Death, the Departed(or Missing) Blame (or Pain)
The Blood will flow in abundant
And it's speaking from the point of view of the moonlight sword, the sword is begging you to put down his old disgraced wielder.
Gottta love how misinformation is still getting spread everywhere. Never stop souls fans
Why are you lying?
So-o-o good
Pretty sure Ludwig’s themes were written by someone else, but yeah, Yuka does most of the other stuff
Very good music but it's Tsukasa Saitoh, not Yuka Kitamura. It starts to get annoying when Yuka gets credit for everything. FromSoftware has more than one composer you know.
@@Jaikhay231 didn't know that. Thanks
This song is an incarnation of banger game tracks.
Yet they weren't even nominated that year for best soundtrack apparently. Criminal, yet what do you expect lol
@@RaytheGrayt but a game with licensed music did 😭
@@wi0.24se The only song that I remember from Mgsv is The man who sold the world, and that's only because they must've reference the whole game around it 😒
your selection of music from games and anime is excellent
"no more hiding away". crazy man, he practically knew how the boss fight went down just by the music, incredible what a sound track can do.
I love how the music goes from you fighting a beast and then goes to two warriors having a duel
Loved the music analysis, always fun to hear you break things down!
I discovered your channel tonight and man I'm so happy I did. My Dad was a drummer and music teacher and unfortunately I inherited none of his gifts but you remind me so much of him the way you talk about music. Thank you for that
"Gehrman, The First Hunter" is still my favorite track from the game, despite other great ones that many others have mentioned
No pun intended?
Gehrman and soul of cinder are tied for my favourite souls borne tracks, both of them are great send offs
Miyazaki has a great eye and ear for composers who really set the tone for the boss.
12:51 this is the exact part where I froze the very first time I fought him this song sent shivers down my spine literally
Love the breakdown! Really like the style of you giving your thoughts in the moment as they come up.
Gehrman, The First Hunter is another wonderful Bloodborne track. Also pretty sinister but much more subdued with a haunting, kinda sad tone to it.
Bloodborne being my favorite game has an amazing ost.
Hopefully you can make another video or two!
Laurence, the First Vicar
Is probably my favorite piece from Bloodborne (on one of my least favorite bosses lol).
I think you'd enjoy it.
Others would be: Living Failures, Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower, Orphan of Kos (every boss theme from the DLC).
Just killed Laurence today but oh my god his music makes me feel like I’m ascending
From Bloodborne, absolutely check out these: "Living Failures", "Maria of the Astral Clocktower", and "Gehrman, The First Hunter". The first two are the themes of bosses that take place after Ludwig's, and the third is one of the final boss themes of the base game.
First hunter. You are the last hunter my friend. Father gascogine's sound track, the blood starved beast and alot of others are good too
@@simon-peterwilliamson2412 I am not smart. Thank you it's been a while since I played :P
No love for Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos? She had such a different theme from the rest of the bosses we face. Emits a sound of Holiness and tranquility, yet despair and fragility.
What makes this more amazing is because its in latin it has lyrics and people have translated it and it literally tells a story
Wait what?
Its not, das fake
i love ludwigs ost. not just because how it sounds like, but you hear everywhere, how great ludwig was and when you then finally see him in his beast form, u just feel weirded out.
I just enjoy but understanding how people like you break everything apart for better understanding is great
Since you like the dark symphonic stuff, the theme of Mohg, Lord of Blood from Elden Ring is excellent, especially if you like Ludwig's theme.
Mohg is in my top 5 in all of Soulsborne
Mohg and Radahn are both top tier, the main theme I think is on par with the Gwyn theme as well imo
@@feral_orc I find the Gwyn theme super boring, tbh.
When the Holy Blade starts, I love the way the melody is passed back and forth between the high brass and the low brass.
That face in the thumbnail says it all. Bloodborne’s OST is a masterpiece
Starting : 😤🔥🤌
Ending : 🗣🔥☠(This is my favorite game)
Bloodborne original soundtrack is one of my all time favourite. Award winning material. Loved the game
Bloodborne can be seen comfortably as Victorian Dark Souls.
It's always good to see BB content even after 7 years
8 you mean.
For me the more amazing part is how this song accompanied the actual fight in the game, its almost too perfect to exist.
The truly crazy part is that the choir is speaking latin and it correlates with the horror that is this boss fight. This is hands down the best track in all of fromsoft's history. It was and still is peak
🎉
This is why Bloodborne is the greatest game of all time. People are still making content regarding the game, its music, etc.
Ohh, so that’s why they’re in the games. Thanks. 👍
@@pandooju i don't think the last part is true tho, since the Moonlight Greatsword has been existing for like 20 years well before Miyazaki joined Fromsoftware in the game King's Field.
@@NIKEONXX Yeah i'm pretty sure the moonlight greatsword is just a reference to kingfield.
Ehhh idk
Might not be why the Moonlight Sword exists, but it sure explains how it ended up in the hands of α guy called Ludwig.
I always get chills when i hear Ludwigs fight music
I know this is an older video so you may not be reading these comments, but I really appreciate your channel. I really like these sorts of music reaction/analysis channels, and the number of times I’ve seen videos from other channels where they just kind of go “woah that was sick! Anyway guys thanks for watching.” Was a bit disheartening lol. So the fact that you take time to appreciate the specific elements in a song is really nice. Definitely expected from a drum corps nerd lol.
Thanks!
I love your breakdowns of songs in your reactions. Slave Knight Gael from dark souls 3 and Great Grey Wolf Sif from dark souls are also great ost.
One of the things that's stuck with me after watching a different reaction is that the person reacting also noted that 1,2,3 pattern and described the feeling of it as: "A Dance of Death"
Which is very accurate both to the song and in game the actual fight and the way you and Ludwig move.
I would love for you to hear the Living Failures OST from Bloodborne. It takes inspiration from romantic composers in all the best ways, and paints a very good picture of the themes of the boss fight.
“My true mentor. My guiding moonlight.”
Love your breakdowns, feel like I’m learning something every time, which is unique for reaction vids.
Gascoigne's theme I feel is pretty underrated for how iconic/great it is. You should definitely give it a listen
I love that the choir is completely translatable, it's not just a bunch of giberrish with a latin-ish sounding accent
I turn into a conductor when ever I play this masterpiece, I always try to fight bosses according to the music. Its like a beautiful dance of death and destruction.
If you're into sinister-sounding orchestral music, I highly recommend Virgin Black - Requiem Pianissimo. The entire album is just fantastic.
Wow indeed. Probably one of my favorite tracks
That pause at 9:40 kills me lmao
Easily my favorite track from this game. Unbelievable power in this piece.
Dude, the dimples on this guy have a whole personality of their own!
The phase 2 “wow” always got me when i see people making Reactions
It just sounds so tragic and sad. Like your fighting a friend who has turned into that...
Been wondering if you'd eventually take a look of this. Great stuff as usual.
All of the “souls” OSTs are a must from Bloodborne to Darksouls you won’t be disappointed
Lady Maria OST is astounding and my personal fav
The moon presence is really good too.
This earned both a like and a subscribe! Cheers from Canada.
