- Chapter 3 of the NASM CPT Manual discusses psychology of how exercise affects us mentally, how it can create positive goal setting, make us feel good about ourselves, and how personal trainers can use psychology for adherence and retention of individuals in exercise programs. Psychological benefits will only lead to physiological gains.
