Hey just wanted to say thank you, all of your videos are so helpful and direct. I've already learned a bunch from a few vids, thanks again. You've got a new subscriber here 🙂👍
thank you, i just redid my stream set up for my twitch after a holiday hiatus and couldnt find anywhere on how to upgrade Nvidia audio and video sdk until this vid, simple and to the point. very quick fix!
Much appreciated - I'm glad to help out! I prefer using it as a filter in OBS instead of having to run a separate application - far less to worry about...
I saw this Nvidia tool in another video elsewhere, but it didn't tell how to get it. Thank you so much for this video. It is super helpful. Looking forward to seeing more of your content.
Glad I could help out! I like having this as a filter in OBS instead of having to run the NVIDIA app separately...and the latest version includes the echo removal option as well as noise reduction...
This video was easy to follow. So I wonder why the relatively high level of thumbs down. Perhaps people looking for something else and frustrated that they didn't find it.
Glad to hear! NVIDIA noise removal (and now echo removal too) has come a long way since it was first released. It's a great option to have in OBS. Cheers!
Your tips did really help me. Thank you for the link. OBS got an update and my Nvidia NR decided to vanish, so I needed some guidance in order to get it working again
Glad to help out! I wouldn't say it is always better, it depends on the type and amount of background noise to be removed (each has its strengths and weaknesses). That said, it does take some load off of the CPU which may help depending on your system. I recommend trying both in your environment. Sometimes there is little difference, but sometimes it is very noticeable.
@@askdrtk After playing around with it, I find the NVIDIA noise suppression is better to actually suppress unwanted environmental sounds, but changes my voice a bit too much, more than the base noise suppression. And you're right, it probably depends on environments and mics being used, and ofc CPU vs GPU usage, whichever you have more available for this function.
Glad you tried it out and thanks for sharing your experience. Your observations mirror what I have experienced, but mic / environment and cpu / gpu considerations do matter and there is no substitute for trying it out.
@@askdrtk I think I chose the wrong software when I downloaded it because everytime I tried to get into obs after applying it to obs. My obs kept crashing, hopefully this time that doesnt happen.
Having NVIDIA Noise setting enabled actually caused my stream to abruptly end seemingly randomly for months. I spent a long time trying to figure out the problem and this was definitely it. So I have to stick with RNNoise filter now.
This has been an issue with certain combinations of hardware where Windows has some issues with memory management. Disabling Windows Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling often solves the crashing issue. Hope this helps out!
Thx a bunch! I was wondering why the Nvidia option wont show up althought I have a Nvidia card. I just got a decent mike and wanted to sound noice, thank you =)
The 3050 will provide audio out over HDMI which will often be superior to built-in laptop audio output, but you will need to use the microphone input from your laptop’s internal audio.
It is a very good place to start. I recommend doing some test recordings. If there is no noise at 0.70 reduced the amount in 0.05 increments until you hear noise again and then bump it back up by 0.10. If there is noise at 0.70, increase in 0.05 increments until you are happy with the sound and then bump up 0.05 more and leave it there. The general idea is to use as little as possible while still allowing a buffer to cover unexpected noise. Hope this helps out!
When I switch my noise suppression to NVIDIA Noise Removal in OBS it makes it so it only records audio in the left channel. I've done some looking online but nothing so far has worked (not even checking the mono checkbox in advanced audio properties). I was just wondering if anyone here ran into this or had any ideas Edit: Huh when I do Noise Removal + Room Echo Removal it works fine, go figure
There have been a number of reports of this happening. One way around it in OBS is to use ASIO input source instead of audio input capture source (provided you are using an audio interface that supports ASIO). When setting up the ASIO input, you set both channels to the same (the one your microphone is connected to) and then NVIDIA Noise Removal will see it as a "stereo" source and OBS will then record on both channels without needing to select the mono checkbox. Hope this helps out!
Hey there, I've installed the nvidia sdk, I can see the filter option but it's not available to select. Is it because I only have GEForce GTX in my laptop instead of RTX?
Hey and thanks for the question. Yes, unfortunately the sdk only works with RTX cards. I was hoping NVIDIA would open up an sdk for audio noise reduction for GTX as they did with the RTX Voice app, but nothing yet... Just in case you haven't already, you can still download RTX Voice for your GTX here www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/guides/nvidia-rtx-voice-setup-guide/ but it has to run stand-alone, not integrated as a filter in OBS. Hope this helps out!
NVIDIA Broadcast including OBS integration only works with RTX cards, but you can use "RTX Voice" which is compatible with GTX cards. It has a stand-alone installer available from the NVIDIA webpage here: www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/guides/nvidia-rtx-voice-setup-guide/ Once it is installed, you setup your microphone in the RTX Voice app and then add RTX Voice as an audio input capture device in OBS. Hope this helps out!
Great question. The sdk includes a more updated noise reduction and room echo cancelation algorithm vs rtx voice however the sdk will only run on 20, 30, and 40 series cards. I find the sdk adds fewer artifacts to the audio vs rtx voice, but I would still say both are more effective at removing steady and intermittent noise vs many competitors.
Great question. At very low levels it will, but as the music volume increases I find it can cut in and out or end up causing artifacts in your vocals as it has to over process to remove the music. Best option for listening to copywritten material while on YT, etc. is still separate audio tracks and headphones/IEMs. I have tested a number of noise removal plugins and haven't found one yet that didn't struggle with music in the background. Hope this helps out!
With the new obs 28 update you can create virtual cables and assign your music to a track that you can have muted from stream but you would still be able to hear it through your headphones.
I’m not sure which RTX card you have but this sometimes happens when an SDK for a different RTX series is installed by accident. Just a thought to double check that you have the correct SDK for your card.
If the humming sound is a low tone it could be a ground loop our low cycle (50/60Hz) interference from your power getting into the audio signal. Noise reduction filters are generally not effective at eliminating these types of noise. If you let me know some details about your computer and audio interface / microphone I can be more specific, but a few things to try include: - Make sure your microphone cable and usb cable from your audio interface are routed away from other power cables. - Try connecting your audio interface to another usb port with no other devices on the same usb controller if possible. - If you audio interface has its own power adapter, ensure it is connected to the same outlet as your computer and powered speakers/monitors (if you have these). - You can try placing inexpensive ferrite cores on the usb cable going to your audio interface, the power cable to your computer, and on any power cables connected to your graphics card. These are a few good things to try first, I hope this helps out!

Mines just not appearing under my suppression options. Not sure what's going on there.
We can try to troubleshoot. Let me know which GPU / driver version, Windows version (build number), and version of OBS Studio you are running.
Mine worked before but since upgrading my GPU and reformatting my computer it doesn't show up for me either. I have a 3070 Ti so it should work.
