- A Las Vegas man became belligerent at Clark County jail after getting arrested on a domestic call. "Guess what? My wife called you in for me 'cause I beat her up," the arrestee said before arguing that he was a man that shouldn't be locked up.

@@StainderFin haaaaaa I agree. I worked in a emergency department for years and heard every name in the book told to me. And it should be water off a ducks back. I never listened to them Who cared. People under the influence r difficult to deal with at times and same thing many times we checked them over and they would spend time in jail and come back to the nursing station when they sobered up many never came back You ahve to be tough skinned when you work with people

The Vet's get away with a great deal. I work with them and I see this daily. They attack us, curse us out and we still have to treat them "with the honor they have earned"

Imagine being the wife and no matter what your husband does to you or your daughter people will always treat him with respect and kindness just because he’s a veteran &/or disabled. Like you could get beat up in front of your kid and people would still speak softly and try to help him out in every way.

Dear Vet. Former US Navy service member, USS Kincaid DDG-965 I.C.E. The reason I used to drink is that I could not tolerate myself. I manned up, put myself into a psychiatric unit and went through a "Dual Diagnosis". I was homeless then. I now own a house. Get yourself clean brother. You will learn to love that unloveable part of you and have peace.

The vet is all over the place mentally and literally physically. He says he didn't do it, "that its all a misunderstanding." Then he has a Freudian slip and does admit to physically touching his wife in violent manner in front of his daughter. This man needs to get more help mentally..
They aren’t treating him special, they are just trying to deescalate him. It’s obvious he is unhinged, everyone knows it.
My nephew just graduated to become a Sedgwick County Jail guard. I like his path. He wants to be Deputy Sheriff and learning about troubled people first is a great step.

I know that decades ago, Los Angeles County deputies were required to work in the jail system for a few years before they were allowed to go on street patrols like a city cop or state cop. This gave the deputies an advantage over city cops and state cops because the deputies got to know many of the inmates BEFORE the inmates were released.
Drill into his head every single day that the worst thing he can do is to make any personal connections in there. The inmates are not your friends and they will take advantage of anybody they can at any time. Go and do your hours and leave that's it nothing more nothing less.

I hated that this man lost a limb for being in service. But that does not excuse his behavior and I am going out on a limb and say that he is under the influence of some type of drug or alcohol. If he is proven guilt of assaulting his wife he deserves punishment. He also needs some type of treatment so he can get a handle on what is making him angry or get him to understand that no one can make him angry that is his choice to act that way. No one can make you angry. I pray this man understands why he is where he is and gets treatment. I know it is hard to maintain a professional attitude when you have to deal with incidents like this.

There's a good chance that the Veteran has PTSD is why he drinks. He needs to go to the V.A. and get tested for PTSD and then they may be able to help him. He deserves help from the V.A. for what he has done for the United States.
Its so sad that our government has failed to address these issues with our veterans 😔

What are they really supposed to do? You sign up for the military, PTSD should be expected. It’s not something that can be cured. Seeing tons of corpses is not for everyone, there’s only so much they can do for the millions of veterans.

Good lord, the cops are sympathizing with the one-legged guy because he's a veteran while completely ignoring the fact that he beat up his wife and has probably been doing so for awhile. Yeesh. I guarantee her life will be forfeit once he's out. A guy that aggressive is going to take it out on the person he thinks wronged him while not acknowledging that he did this to himself. It'll be the fault of anyone BUT himself in his mind.
It's sad how many of these people need to be in a mental hospital, not a jail. Jail is not the place to put people in mental crisis as it usually worsens the crisis but, thanks to Reagan era Republicans, we don't have but a handful of psychiatric facilities left in the US in which to house the millions who really should be there to get the help, and sometimes the medication, they desperately need.
I've seen this show a lot. The jailers try to build a rapport with belligerent inmates in an effort to calm them down. That's all. It's not the cop's job to convict people. They did their duty to the battered wife by arresting him. The crimes they are accused of are sorted out in court.
As for your unnecessary political statement; if he's let out of jail and he hurts the wife, you can thank Biden-era Democrats.
@@vohawk My "political statement" wasn't against today's Republicans. It was simply to point out that during the Reagan Era, when Republicans were in power, it was decided by the federal government to close large mental institutions and facilities in order to spread the mentally ill out among their communities. This experiment failed decades ago as most community/county mental health services were already strapped to the limit (and still are) prior to this decision. It led to some of the homelessness we see today.
Lest you think I let Democrats off with a pass, I don't. They've had ample time to work toward improving mental healthcare in this country and they've dropped the ball.
So...yeah, I guess my political statement here is that the government, Republican AND Democrat, are the ones to blame for people like this veteran who clearly needs mental help. Jail isn't the right place for the mentally ill as it can't even begin to meet that person's mental health needs, especially if they have anger management problems, schizophrenia, behavioral disorders, or bipolar disorder. Take this all as you will. LOL
