      Hi, thank you so much for your comments. We reduced the amount of good. Less meat, less cow meat, more chicken and pork, chicken inner parts with rice. More rice and pasta. Legumes are not that cheap. Lentils are great. Pizza a lot. A litre of milk weekly or no milk . Polenta a lot. No cow steak. Instead of using a whole onion you use a half, same with other vegetables. If your meal has veggies you do not prepare a salad. You reduce quantities. Use public transportation and walk to find things on sale. More soup. Cheap meat cuts. Enjoy free activities and parks. Enjoy time with family. No restaurants or cinema

    Spam is another one we like to stock up on. It's great fried til crispy as a side to eggs. Grew up on Jello salads. Grandma would shred carrots, celery, apples, pineapple or what ever and put in a mold served over a few pieces of lettuce and topped with some sour cream or yogurt.

    Take the plastic casing off of the canned chicken and check the cans. The quality of their cans for the chicken (I don't know if it is the same for their tuna) is really cheap and dings really easily. The plastic hides the dings. Ask me how I know.

    Walmart has the best prices on lentils and even though it has gone up, quinoa.
    Canned Chicken,(pressure-canned and commercially canned), tuna, and Vienna sausages are stocked. We got a lot of corned beef when they were 2 Fir $% last Summer and Fall at Kroger( less than half price.) I Pckled vegetables, OLIVES and the like are essential for happy eating. I also have a lot of ramen,. I like them, although I never eat them., other do, and yes,we can add things.
    I put in pasta sauces, the creamed one for ourselves and tomato for others. CLASSICO is also one of the few sauces that are Gluten-free. Picante and green chili and stocked away!
    JELLO! I just got more. If anyone needs to be on a liquid diet for any reason, gelatin is a must. I noticed today how much they have gone up. I like Great Value for the price and they have pineapple ! Someone told me that a teaspoon of raspberry in hot chocolate is fantastic, btw.
    I also picked up boiled peanuts. I got a deal and figure even if they are lousy plain, they have great protein and I can sneak them into foods.
    I also picked up a box of whipped topping mix.I had one or two p[ut away.It may not be the healthiest, but we can make a reasonably special dessert even grid-down by whipping this up with a whisk and using it on puddings or whatever.

    For the ramen noodles, you can use beef, chicken, or vegetable broth to cook them in. And do not use the flavor packets. They are so full of sodium.

    • @joycedagostino6074
      @joycedagostino6074 3 месяца назад +1

      That’s a good tip about the broth and if people have their own homegrown dehydrated vegetables, you can add those too. You can find online where people come up with the seasonings for these foods using basic ingredients and that skips all of the bad stuff in the seasoning packets that you discard. Once you find the ones you like be sure to print them out and keep with those foods.

      I posted a reply and put a link to a site that tells you about any food you want to know about that might be GMO but it was deleted. Anyway, since we have family members that have to be gluten free, always check labels now and as we check for gluten, it's very disturbing how many major brands have bioengineered ingredients too.
