Because she was very secure about the beauty of her Voice, she did not rely on any vocal gymnastics. Definitely no one in America can ever be this FLAWLESS. Needless to say Gaga’s performance in 2021 was apocalyptic. Whitney and Mariah were also great though... But this is more Crisp and Charming.
In the Philippines, its not acceptable to sing the national anthem other than how it is supposed to be sung. You could get fined if you are a popular singer and had sung the anthem in a wrong manner. That is what miss Salonga did too in the Star Spangled Banner, utmost respect to the national hymn needs to be observed, and not the singer's own version of the song.

I really love her voice. Nobody sings like this nowadays. It’s so clean and clear. I used to like the soulful, r&b singing style with those runs. I thought that it was cool and tried to sing like that. Now I really appreciate this clean singing. Just hit the notes, no excessive runs, no over sing. Nothing less or more. This US of A's National Anthem has been aired a lot of time in the Philippines, particularly during Pacman's Fight, which is why in a way, this has been familiar to a lot. However, this is the sole version which made me understand what the anthem truly articulates. This is amazing

Yes, our parents also always tell us that when they were in school in 1920's, before classes starts they will sing the Philippine Anthem then the US National Anthem after. And you're not allowed to speak Tagalog or your native dialect while in school.

Inspiring and stirring! I don’t know why many singers try to put their own spin on the national anthem. It’s our national anthem, people. It’s not an adult contemporary tune. It’s not a pop hit. It’s not a jazz number. It’s not a rock sing. It doesn’t need to be altered, but sung as it was written. All event organizers have to consider is getting a singer with a glorious set of pipes who can sing with conviction.
