+Etor Christie Really? As a musician and composer of music, I don't hear very much power or any intimidation factor in this theme. I hear a military march meant to accompany the Japanese military fighting against Godzilla, as that is exactly what Akira Ifukube first wrote it for back in 1954. The first time this theme became synonymous with Godzilla was 1975 when it was played for the first time in conjunction with his arrival when he blasted Titanosaurus with his atomic breath and appeared out of the darkness of the city's skyline. But does this theme exude power and intimidation? Not really. It's actually more jaunty than anything else, like you could dance to it. Since March music is meant to be marched to, what do you expect?
Shadow07Warrior1989 In my eyes i see power and intimidation. Mainly this version though, the 1975 version is a little cheerful. True in many respects I suppose. Given that it's still a military march, I really don't hear much intimidation, though this version does have some nice tension with the strings in the beginning versus other versions. Still, it's less intimidating to me than suspenseful. He's lurking beneath the sea, ready and waiting to unleash his wrath. To me that's how this one sounds I guess. Less like he's HERE in our faces and more like he's on his way, ready to tear us apart.

Well this march was left out completely in the new 2014 (sadly), but the 2014 movie was (watch out! Opinion of an individual person on the internet!) really great. I didn't like the 2014 movie, i loved it, cause it had more of this old soul in it, then this Zilla garbage from Emmerich or Final Wars...Ok i didn't watch Final Wars, gonna have to do it some time, though, but srsly... The 2014 movie felt like a rebirth of the franchise. i went into the movie with different expectations, but went out completely satisfied. That movie was totally worth the money i paid to see it and i don't say this so easily, cause it was the first time in the last 6-8 years, where i really could say this about a movie. But there is still one thing that disturbed me, too: The Godzilla March music. They REALLY need to put it in the next Godzilla movie! And if it is just in the credits, whatever, they need to put it in!
I saw the movie too and actually thought it was great! I definitely agree with you about the absence of the march theme. At the end of the movie I was really expecting the iconic music to play but instead we get the new theme over the credits, and I felt slightly disappointed even though the new soundtrack is actually pretty good - in my opinion. Maybe it has to do with buying rights for the Godzilla theme from Toho studios? That's my guess for a reason... Listening to this Godzilla 1991 march theme, I felt this would've fit the 2014 movie. And I too hope the march music is put in the ending of the next Godzilla film!
Well, the main theme for the new movie seems to contain a subtle reference to the classic Godzilla theme if you listen closely, which was good enough for me. Hopefully they will elect to use more of the classic themes in the sequels.
I actually despised it and my reasoning is actually quite simple: Bryan Cranston got more screen time than Big G did. His (the King's) physical apperance also made him look like other than gulpin' down a pod of whales every few hours, he hasn't been doing anything. I mean Big G was seriously fat. It was a good monster movie, I won't deny it. Just not right for calling it a "Godzilla" movie.
S-171 Cam I don't see how the film isn't a true Godzilla movie other than just giving Godzilla too little screen time. Normally Godzilla is in 12% of the movie. in this one he was in it for about 6%. Aside from that, it felt like a Godzilla movie in every way. The monster looked like Godzilla, acted like him, sounded like him, and kicked other monsters' asses like him. Godzilla isn't any fatter in this movie than he was in any of the old ones. Just look at Godzilla in Son of Godzilla or Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla. He had thunder thighs, there's no denying it. He has a thick build in the new movie, but he's more muscular than fat. I think the new movie is an acceptable addition to the franchise and don't see why everyone disowns and despises it for trivial reasons like Godzilla's screentime and appearance.

But there is still one thing that disturbed me, too:
The Godzilla March music.
S-094 Cam so you want a monster movie that has the monster for 2 hours of screentime
would you want that
will you get bored I will
