Is anyone else completely blown away by the fact that Japanese film composers in the day (and in some cases STILL) only have 4 days to compose the music for the entire film? Ifukube wrote some of our favorite pieces in 4 days. 4! American film composers have closer to 4-6 months to compose depending on how quickly filming wraps and goes into post production.
Ifukube, you're a legend forever man.

Really, I didn't know this about Ifukube's work! There is (sorry, was) another movie composer who had only few days to compose a score for a hit scifi fantasy movie-James Horner. When he had to complete the score of 'Aliens' he had so little time, he literally had to throw it together with literally only a few days to spare-and of course, the score was another 'classic'. Looks like stress & adrenaline are great inspirations.

It would have matched the scene to. The scene where the US army was marching into battle in Godzilla 2019 film was epic. Especially the fighter jets and the B-52 Bombers flying into action with Godzilla. Wish they done that for Godzilla Final War especially when he was about to face Kaizer. Then later became Kaizer Ghidorah. And I thought Death-Ghidorah was ugly whoo-boy Kaizer Ghidorah took the cake. And probably most strongest Ghidorah Godzilla ever faced.

Something else that's amazing is how the first piece become known as the "Godzilla March" when it originally in the 54' movie was not meant to symbolize Godzilla, but was actually intended to be representative of the Japanese Defense Force against Godzilla. Ifukube admitted to this in the interviews of the Gojira Criterion Collection blu-ray special features. Kind of funny in retrospect, actually.

I can just imagine every epic scene from Godzilla, from Godzilla's showdown with the JSDF and its tanks in the original, to Godzilla blasting a hole down to Hollow Earth, and from scenes as goofy as Minilla fighting Gabara, to Shin Godzilla just collapsing and apartment, even taking down several bombs and bombers, along with the prime minister's helicopter. Akira Ifukube is legendary and brilliant.

I see the Godzilla, and Superman (John Williams orchestrated version), themes as the best.
Godzilla's has that opening danger to it, but sounds a little more heroic as the theme progresses.
Superman's theme starts out quiet, grows, swells, and the heroic comes out.
Both these themes, I find, are invigorating.
