Do 37" tires fit stock?? 2020 Ford F250 - Super Duty Build | Part 5

  • Will 37" tires fit on a stock 2020 F250 Truck?
    NOPE!! Well... actually they fit in the rear. They could fit in the front with enough cutting and trimming. Fitting 35" or larger tires requires aftermarket wheels or wheel spacers. With stock wheels your tires will rub on the sway bar and potentially brake lines. Not good!
    Aftermarket wheels are wider and offer greater backspacing (push the tire out from the body). This helps resolve rubbing on the inside of the frame type components but increase rubbing on the bumper and fender.
    With the ~4" Carli coil springs installed up front the tires clear the fender at ride height. However, they will rub when the suspension is compressed so additional trimming will be required. The Carli bump stop drop will help limit compression travel which is important for gaining additional clearance for the larger tires.
    Stay tuned for upcoming video showing the process of trimming for these tires...

    I just bought the same rims and I’m having trouble with wheel weights contacting my caliper. Was wondering where they put your wheel weights and if there was any issue balancing them? Thank you in advance !

    • @TruckCamper

      We had issues once... The shop put the weights in the center and the caliper knocked them off. Put them on the inside of the wheel or outside offset of caliper zone. Works great!

      You need different wheel offset. We run a 17x8.5" wheel with Zero offset. This essentially pushes the tire out from the frame giving greater clearance for the larger diameter at full steering angle. Also tires that are 12.5" wide or less fit much easier. We have many videos showing our build as well if you want more ideas.

    • @TruckCamper
      @TruckCamper  6 месяцев назад

      It has nothing to do with "lifting" rather... you need to "limit" the suspension compression travel. Otherwise, the tires will contact the body when the suspension fully compresses. We have many videos showing our build and parts used. You do need to increase wheel offset (push tires out) to clear the frame (we have zero offset 8.5" wheels) and bumpstop spacer (to reduce compression travel). Adding "lift" with springs is mostly for looks or function if you need the clearance off road (like how we use our truck). Hope that helps

    • @TruckCamper
      @TruckCamper  3 месяца назад

      Correct. Factory wheel offset will NOT work for 37s. Tires will rub the frame. These wheels are 17x8.5" with 0mm offset. You need to push the tires out further from the body to clear the frame with oversized tires. Wider wheels & tires will require additional offset and may require body cutting depending on diameter. Not really. It depends on the bumpstop location (which limits suspension compression travel). We installed coil springs which lifted the truck but the increased ability to fit larger tires was the 1" taller profile bumpstop which keeps the suspension from compressing as far.

      @@TruckCamper if I understand correctly, the shorter spring lowers the body making more lift necessary compared to a 2019? My 2019 has a 4.30 diff and thought taller tires might help offset the mileage loss. It is my understanding that you can go up to a 295 or 305 tire on the stock 18" wheels getting some improvement vs. the 20"wheel and a taller tire. Would rather not do a lift but still able to go with bigger tires. I do know the bigger tires will have reduced mileage which may or may not full offset the larger diameter. Thanks

    • @TruckCamper
      @TruckCamper  7 месяцев назад

      @Step-n-Wolf Correct. You should be fine up to 34-35" diameter keeping the stock wheels. Larger diameter will decrease hwy rpm. Larger tires are heavier and will effect mpg in town more than hwy. I don't think the cost is worth the change unless replacement tires are needed. You may gain some hwy and lose some towing and city mpg.

      I don't think there is enough advantage for a true "coilover" vs keeping the spring / shock type suspension setup. The biggest bummer with coilovers is rebuilding the shocks. These "performance" shocks are good for 20-50k miles typically between rebuilds. Removing coilover shocks means your truck will be on jack stands for a week or more while waiting to have shock rebuilt. Where removing a standard shock is relatively easy and you can install your factory shock while shipping the shock for rebuild. The diesel springs ride noticeably better than the factory springs (gas truck) due to the massive drop in spring rate. I'm sure they are even more plush on diesel truck. You gain about .5-1" more height on the gas trucks vs diesel. I do think staying close to stock tire size is best if you don't want to regear the axles. Thanks for watching!

    You should have bought a F350

      What would that do for me? F250 is the same truck.

      @@TruckCamper Exactly. I bought an F-350 with the "camper package" and upgraded tires only to find out that with a 3500 lb. camper on the back it isn't up to prime time...as a result I'll be swapping out the stock springs for custom ones very much like the Deavers you got. You saved a lot of money by getting the 250 and turning it into what you needed...I would have done the same, but I was ignorant. A 350 with a camper on it that weighs no more than 2600 lbs would probably be fine stock, but when you get heavier than that the suspension gets to "max" a hell of a lot sooner than Ford says it does. I like my truck...but I ended up spending money for a badge, really.

      Front was lifted 4". It is alright on road. But needs fender trim when suspension compresses. Lots of room in the rear!

    Dude get a diesel

    • @TruckCamper
      @TruckCamper  21 день назад

      No thanks. Diesels are much too complicated. Most repairs dealers will remove the truck cab (faster due to how cramped the engine bay is). This motor is proven to be 500k plus if maintained. Diesel power is nice but not worth the trade offs for me.
