Señor Cortéz Fellow Boricua and martial artist here, married to a Pinay and I just want to say your respect is on point! Mano Po to the elders is like the bendiciones we ask Mama and Papa. Pinoys and Boricuas island brothers to the core! Their orgullo and pride is as deep as ours. Im so glad you made this video! Im also wondering about the Machetazo style and puño de maceta! That one my tio showed me. He faught off two guys with it on the A train 4am no joke he was ex military and used what he had. Who knew it was that effective lol! Paz!

i love the fact that hollywood use the art in their movies and its just mesmerizing to see demos in movies. practical use is fatal i guess no wonder its not popular to the general public. bilang pinoy, i hope we dont lose this identity as part of our culture and that the masters hand them down to the next pinoy generation. the art is actually utilized somewhere internationally - movies, armed forces defense and where else. the fact that it is useful, it will live on but i hope the origins are not forgotten where it actually came from.

My brother learned how to utilize what my grandfather termed "skrima" from my father who in turn taught it to him. My brother used it to save his own life against eight street fighters in , Philippines .In school we called this Arnis .. Skrima in Visayas

Our midern technology is a double edged sword. Many in those islands havent seen how sharp that back edge is just yet but if they continue to modernize they will. Just like we here in the USA are. It's a faustian bargain.

Gracias, fue un placer filmar este documental. Sí, los machetes se usaron en Puerto Rico, pero los españoles descubrieron Puerto Rico antes que Filipinas. Quién sabe cómo hubiera sido si fuera al revés.

I believe that the spaniards taught filipinos arnis/eskrima to help them defend against the moros who during that time was pushing upwards from indonesia and malaysia.

Very dangerous foul. She could have break an arm bone or worst bumped her head in the floor. Very irresponsible and savage foul.
