Electrical zaps (techno sound design like Snts) using Live's Wavetable
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 авг 2024
- In this video we do a little synthesis tutorial on how to get the buzzing, zapping electrical lead sound that can also be heard in Snts - Disappearance of Fate. This sound is perfect for any bleak techno or industrial atmospheres, and it's an excuse for us to flex our Ableton Live Wavetable sound shaping skills.

Hello :) the link is broken, where can I download the rack?
Admit it Oscar, if we removed SNTSs mask, it would be you would it
👹 haha no no, I'm a super small fry compared to them. Stay tuned though 😘
No,everyone in the "scene" knows that SNTS is UZB (Unam Zetineb) who was caught on ripping off other artists tracks, hence the mask.
A bit like the Emmanuel Arts story...
@@smashsystem really? any credible sources? or is it literally just hearsay?
@@marorococa Someone on reddit said it so it must be true. SNTS has been releasing music since 2012, predates any Many Benitez bs
I’m very happy I’ve found this channel.
It’s so clear and understandable.
Great content, keep it up!
🖤
Brilliant Oscar !!! Very cool tips!
This channel is so consistent. Always learn useful tactics and fast
Thanks for this, Oscar. I watched this video when it first came out, but the more I learn about Ableton the more powerful I find what you are teaching here to be. I just learned that you can also make some really interesting basslines with this technique by playing around with the resonant frequencies.
100% the best videos on RUclips, Oscar knows his stuff.
Thanks for everything you teach us on this channel brother!
these are superb. your way of explaining things is precise, easy to understand and apply, and doesn't come across all goofy and egoladen like a lot of tutors do.
Please make more underground techno tutorials like this. Thanks!
Tomorrow I'll be dropping a big one 😁 stay tuned
Super cool. I've really enjoyed finding this channel and the sound design tutorials in Ableton are great. I'll definitely look into courses.
Nice one Joe! Just hit me up if you have any questions, or come say hi in the discord!
This yt channel is pure gold 🥇
hey Oscar. just want to say I love your channel. so much great info.
great tutorial, loved the sound
Awesome intro and outro!
by far the best explanation ever. Not just this video, but all your vids
Cheers Marcos!
Great videos man, keep it up
Great Video! These sound design videos are always inspiring. Love how they trigger new thoughts and ideas.
If possible and interesting enough I would love to go deeper into the deep bass lines such as on “Layton Giordani’s - Nirvana”. Always seem to get stuck on creating those type off sounds.
Cool stuff!!
absolutely love your videos man
Flipping love the support ✌😁
Very nice, thanks! Sound design tutorials are great! :)
Thanks Mar 😁
love it!
Awesome video! Found it so useful :)
Beautiful tip comparing a 1000hz fundamental with a 50hz one! Thanks so much!!
I've been around synthesis since the 80's and I would have gone with my gut here and worked with noise to try to find what was required, thinking, as you say, it would be a logical starting point.
Thank you for explaining your reasoning at the end of the video. Although I had understood your method and the details of how you arrived at your colouring of the sound, I could not imagine how you knew that your chosen starting point would get you there until you described the rule of harmonic frequencies.
The way you were able to make such a colourful patch from such unpromising components is really inspiring.
Cheers Andy :) :)
Very helpful tutorials and love the whole presentation :)
Thanks Dhaval! Still working on improving the video quality, a lot more levels to go!
Awesome and well explained. I'll be checking out many more of your videos >>
This teqniq (playing with secondary harmonics tail of a very low saw) is also used in psy/trance/techno for bass fx stabs and mid-bass textures )
Right! Those ripping synth sounds - makes sense!
Once again thanx a lot! I thought he was making that sounds with an awesome distortion pedal that he uses. Cheers man!
Distortion pedals could be part of it, similar to how I overdrive the filter, you could run it through any distortion pedal to bring out that crunchy top end!
Legend 👌🙌
Ooomphh there's some naughty sounds there
Thank you!
great video
Super cool tutorial! Would love a tutorial that's all about modulation :)
Thx again :)
Hey, Oscar. I'm the guy known as HANGNAIL in your Discord. I just never got around to changing that name. Anyway, I'm always excited when you drop a new video. Thanks for all that you do!
Cheers Hang! Looking forward to working together 😁✌
Thanks man
I dont know why you chose Underdog, but you are guiding us through this underworld, like Anubis teaching Osiris how to be a Producer...
hahahaha
Many Thanks from Brazil
😁
Instant sub!
I made a similar sound accidentally by touching the tip of an audio cable while the other end was plugged in one of my boxes 😅. Nice vid.
you da best dawwwg
Still buzzing from this haha Very nice video :)
Zap zap baby!
When i bought ableton I thought "I won't need that omega version for 500 bucks what even is max for live" but now I find myself in need of so many of those functions... damn you, past me! ✊
Very cool video!! Could you make one about boris brejcha zapping resonant hits, that morphing sound is so cool
Very helpfull! Would.love to see a sounddesign video that shows how Hadone makes his signature melo padsounds
Hey, Appreciate for the great informations. Could you make tutorial about "Hoover "sounds as well? Cheers
I was feeling stagnant but no longer. Thank you
BE FREE!
Thanks!
If you can dive into some Scalamerya sound design technics you gonna be a God!
Post to the techno production sub Reddit. It’s very active. Great video as always!
Trying to minimise the youtube videos I post there - they're not a huge fan of self-promotion and I got a few vids removed there in the past :) Feel free to share it yourself if you think it's valuable!
So simple.. yet so effective. Very nice. Whats up with the SNTS obsession thought haha
Hahahaha I feel you. I just seem to attract questions about it somehow, and then I might as well turn those answers into videos. Anyway, wont stay too long in 1 topic, don't worry 🤭
@@OscarUnderdog Oh I don't mind. I love industrial techno so I find these great :)
nice video as usual ! Does anyone know how to do this with massive ? i can't even find the filter modulation window and the "drive" option as well
Love the video. The link to the instrument rack is 404.
Did you know snts and liked his music before making videos about him? Just curious. Lovely video mate. Already got ideas on how to implement this in my own live set.
I did know it yes! But hearing so many people speaking about him definitely invited me to investigate him in way more detail. I hadn't heard his more quiet and introspective stuff, which is quite nice too.
@@OscarUnderdog I think it's fascinating how his style evolved over the years. But he still has a unique style.
@@thiasusofficial4785 I feel like his style evolved from "I want to make atmospheric music" to "bro I gotta headline".
Very nice! Give us a bass line like Schwefelgelb
Teach us how to make the Wata Igarashi sound like in his track Warp.
Really cool sound design. How would you best "stutter" a sound like that in Ableton, like glitching? Would be really cool to see a video on that. All your videos are ace btw!
There used to be a VST called glitch , pretty sure someone else bought it and changed the name but I can’t remember what they called it
@@MYEVILTWIIN I'll try and find it, cheers!
www.audiopluginsforfree.com/glitch/
@@MYEVILTWIIN Seems there's a Glitch 2 for €50. You can still get Glitch 1.3(?) for free so I'll give that a whirl! Nice one.
Resample and copy paste little bits of it. Lot more control than any "glitch" plugin and it will sound better and more intentional. This is the basic premise of the glitch plugins anyway though, you record into a buffer and play back small loops from the buffer.
Hoi Oscar Wil je alsjeblieft een tutorial over Ableton Preferences Setup ui te leggen omdat ik het niet voor elkaar krijg om juist in te stellen of noem een tip tutorial
When i try to make the macro between lfo and filter frecuency in the Matrix doesnt allow me to do,can you help me to achieve this??
It reminds me of Mike Parker's sound design
Nice reference ✌
Yes! The label Bahn from Barcelona have many artists who use these sounds 👽 Mike parkers remix of pttrn's disappear is a pure brain melter!
Hi, what midi controller is that you're using? Thanks.
it's for ableton 10 ?
It's just a saw wave with a filter, you can do it in any daw
💖
The way you look up to see the higher frequency of the saw. 😂
It’s insan
lol..
