You've completely changed my ability to use ableton and singlehandedly given me more avenues to creatively express myself. Thank you for the videos and keep them coming! Best ableton channel on youtube by far.
god damn, dude. Feels like everytime I wonder if I should be spending money for plugins like serum I come across another tutorial that reminds me how I‘ve not even scraped the top of what‘s possible with stock ableton alone. Thanks for the inspiration!
Ableton's stock plugins offer so much, Max for live adds another dimension of possibilities and most of the time you're better off perfecting your workflow with what you have on hand rather than spending money on new plugins. And then at a certain point I'd probably invest in plugins that have a coloring effect such as the teletronix la-2a compressor you can use for group processing
its cool to have the majors. serum, sylenth, omni, etc. and some samples. but making shit with the stock plugins is whats really gonna give u ur own sounds and techniques.
I discovered this by myself after spending 2.5 hours on Wavetable and "User" section was at the last section and I became extremely excited for the possibility to insert samples, then I recorded my voice and create banging sounds then I researched on youtube to see how many ppl know and talk about this, and I found this vid and this guy directly starts with his own voice recording hahahah. But anyway I'm catching, 3 years ago, when he uploaded this vid, I was not a free person.
Note for Tip #1 you need to record your audio as AIFF filetype... it won't work with a WAV filetype. You can change this under the Record, Warp, Launch tab of preferences
Please never stop posting videos, you’ve personally taught me more about music production than anybody else, including private tutors. A true living legend ❤❤
WOW all my arpeggiation and weird oscillation prayers have been answered by the techno gods today! My life has been changed unalterably by the wavetable knowledge I've been gifted with thanks to RUclips's algoryth! THANKS SO MUCH.
11.40 onwards is pure CLASS. . Mapping those specific controls, Loop Decay ENV 2 & Amount of LFO, to a midi controller is feeling mighty tempting. Could be too hard to handle, but I reckon a few nuggets will pop up. Have the tape rolling & delete the shite afterwards. As always with you, the delivery is sharp as diamonds. Careful conveyance compacts the complex. You are a bit of legend sir....
Honestly it's a bit overwhelming. Started producing about 6 months ago and just now tipping my toes to sound synthesis and design and god damn. After this I don't understand what do people use Serum for, how is it better? I mean the serum effects seem cool but there are so many insane things that you can do with ableton stock effects that I really don't get why pay for it.
Before I clicked, ego said that there's nothing left to learn about the Wavetable, yet, I clicked none the less, since there's no such thing as knowing EVERYTHING about something and, after watching this video - I know more about the Wavetable than I did before, thank you!
Man I keep coming back to your videos. You have so much info packed in each one you really need to watch them multiple times to completely digest them, and that's great!!! I have learned a lot from you, thanks for everything.
It just won’t stop!!!! Every time I think I fully understand Ableton, there something new!! This is by far the best DAW ever created. Especially using stock plug ins & sounds!
Thank you so much! *Tons* of inspiration packed in a most concise way. Especially like that you're constantly demonstrating audibly what you're doing. So many tutorials just get lost in talking for ages. Another gem on YT!
that intro sound is damn wide. feels like you used the delay method I saw elphnt teaching. like a few ms on one channel, but enough bot to mess with mono Compatibility. Love all your videos bro. Im new to Music general and ableton, and I couldn't just wrap my head around ableton. now is SLOWLY start making more sense every time I watch you videos. Much love for what you doing.
Awesome video, packed with great info!! I previously thought Wavetable sounded good but was a bit basic, but you've given a lot of cool options. THANKS!
This is great. I'm pretty frustrated with Serum which adds clicks to certain notes. And more often than not, that custom patch I worked on for an hour doesn't sounds the same when I open it up the next day.
This is really nice but i am wondering what is the difference between serum and this. There should be some difference since lots of people use serum right?
OK, so this was insane. Just started looking at the wavetable like yesterday, and I had no idea how crazy this shit is. Any chance you could explain me the difference between Ableton Live's Wavetable and Serum, except for the obvious built in effects and UI of Serum. For some reason people say Serum is better in some ways, but after this I just don't understand how.
The very detailed mentioned in this video about retriggering envelopes and LFOs while on poly mode and not doing that on mono mode, as legato setting, is it possible to keep at least LFOs without retriggering in the poly mode as well? was trying to find this everywhere but can't find any answers...
I can't believe I didn't know you could drop your own wavetables in. One of the only things I didn't like about wavetable was clicking through preset tables lol
I think it was added in the 10.1 update. I don't know why Ableton didn't hold off on releasing Wavetable so that the feature was included on release; it's such a huge deal that one would assume they'd want to highlight it, especially because the initial release was mired by people complaining that it wasn't Serum.
Hey great tutorial, like always, thank you! :) I have one problem that I am encountering - I would get error message in status bar like "Cannot load table 'file_name' 'file_path'" when I drag any recorded audio into Wavetable. I am sorry that I cannot paste whole message - but unfortunately because of it's length I can't see it in full width... :/ Has anyone had this problem? I am using Ableton Trial and tried to change audio rec file type just to see if this would solve anything. I also couldn't find any information relating this subject online.
If you go to Options > Preferences and open up the "Record/Warp/Launch" tab, under Record, you have to change the file type to AIFF, rerecord your audio and Voila. Hope that helps. Cheers.
HELP! When I drag audio samples to wave table it just replaces the whole wavetable with a simpler. I can't seem to get wave table to accept the sample. Doesn't give an error or anything.. Just replaces it every time.
almost ;) I am creating what I hope to be the most robust collection of online courses available on Ableton Live. If you want to be notified when they are ready put your email in here: mailchi.mp/a6892b61ffb2/seedtostage
Very nice. Have you experienced high CPU usage with Wavetable? My CPU spikes alot when using presets like Drubb Stabs and playing chords. It can go to 40 % cpu load :s
I just updated to latest version of Ableton which is 10.1.14. Yet still when I drag the audio into wavetable I get a red bar at the bottom saying I can't do so or it tries to convert the clip to midi. Any advice?
THIS IS GREAT! thanks! mate just one thing, when i drop audio on Wavetable , it changes it to simpler, cant load audio on to wavetable to make it a waveform. Love the channel, thanks

wow thank you for this comment!
god damn, dude. Feels like everytime I wonder if I should be spending money for plugins like serum I come across another tutorial that reminds me how I‘ve not even scraped the top of what‘s possible with stock ableton alone. Thanks for the inspiration!
Same here, totally agree. This video opened my eyes again...

With your previous videos on Operator and now this, my inspiration on where to take them is galactic. Thank you!
Note for Tip #1 you need to record your audio as AIFF filetype... it won't work with a WAV filetype. You can change this under the Record, Warp, Launch tab of preferences
thanks bro, exactly the info I've been looking for :D
Still not working wave table changes to sampler
Still just changes to sampler even with aiff files for me. Anyone else?

This is amazing. The more I fall in love with sound design the more I almost explicitly use built in ableton devices
Honestly it's a bit overwhelming. Started producing about 6 months ago and just now tipping my toes to sound synthesis and design and god damn.
