When I return from the war. I will buy your course. You got my word, Oscar.
did you
@@tyler361t2 I am still a soldier. Thanks for reminder.
Ukraine?
You will forever be my hero Oscar! I made such an improvement in my sound since I started a year ago. Without you, I wouldn't be nearly as far as I am. Thank you so much!
Followed this channel for a while now. Oscar is great at breaking down all the elements. I can tell the style of music he makes is much different from mine but they are broken down in a way that I can take with me. Another good video
I learned all this stuff intuitively over a long period, now I have the language for what I'm actually doing... thanks! Great video.
bravo bravo bravo! Such a GREAT distillation of concepts that can be super challenging for beginners to get a grasp on. Very encouraging and helped me realize i knew a little more than I thought!
I wasn't new to synthesis but still learned a few things and would have loved to see this video when I was first getting started. Great way to break down the different elements of synthesis and make the whole thing easier to understand.
Sharing this with my oldest son….! Now he can be be as creative as Richard D James 😊
Complete af!! Congratulations to you, for making a hell of a video!
This is really helpful, even if you don’t make this kind of music or have experience ❤
I feel this class is specially explainet for me a low speed brainer lol. Gonna help alot 🙌
Incredible, being familiar with synthesis, I've clicked only to see how you doing and still learned something new! Also, nice earring, got similar pair in silver :D. Regards!!
Oscar you're fuck awesome. My adhd normally won't let me focus on tuts but you have something that I can indeed stay focused :D Thanks
* edited cuz adhd
Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks man
thanks Teach'!!!! Godspeed!!
Man i needed this video 5 years ago xd really easy to understand! thumbs up for this explanation
THANKS OSCAR ! first time someone explain so well how works a synth :-)
Saw your previous videos refering to the subtractive synthesis and understood them. This is a wonderful master version of them. Thank you, will share!
Can you please make a tutorial about
what is a lead, pad, pluck, drone etc. and why where to use it. I never found a video about this.
Lead is like the instrement that plays the main melody during the more harder sections, pluck semes to be a instrament that simulates a string instrament, and drone sounds like a synth that is just one tone(i.e a sine wave)
I would love to hear Oscar on this too.
Thank you so much for an easy to understand explanation ...
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Very clear and straight to the point. Cheers from Costa Rica!
thanks for the time you gave us, trully legend
Best video I've ever seen on this subject ! Thank you so much for everything !!!!
wow you saved me tons of hours of reaserching synth, so simple and well presented. super easy to undestand, well done !
Thank you so much, that was so fun to watch. Appreciate the efforts you put in that video. Thank you again.
Thank you Oscar. So many questions as a beginner making electronic music and you are a really good teacher who makes it understandable.
best music teacher. you made it so simple and easy to understand.
I continue to be impressed with the quality of your teaching! Well done man
Loving how u break down things repeating how easy it is, so i feel less overwhelmed by the bunch of informations.
Dude, that was marvellous!
Thank you so much! Your explanations are so clear and easy to understand. You're really know how to teach things properly. Again, thank you!
knowing is something but teaching is another. you are way beyond that. thanks oscar.
This video is fantastic. Super clear. Thanks for the very great job done. Impressive. Bravo
You didn’t teach me anything I didn’t know in this video, but the way you taught it was brilliant!
Wish I’d had teaching like this years ago. Keep doing what you do Oscar.
thanks man, thank for all of your content! really good work
This was great! Great explanation for beginners like myself. Thank you 👍😊 You’ve got a new subscriber 😀
Legend... perfection at explaining, thanks

Thx Oscar! You are a great teacher!! 🤘😎❤️😎
Excellent description!
I did watched your past subtractive Synth video and this too is good 👍🏻
Wow, amazing info for me. Thank you!
Huge thanks! concise and totally life changing
These subtractive synthesis introduction videos from Oscar helped me a ton when I started!
I see we got a new one with better production and a better way of explaining how it works.
I only wish we got other videos with the same quality explaining how other types of common synthesizers work :P
that Oscarllator sounds nice ;D great video as always mate
Great video - excellent for beginners!
What a great explanation! 🎉
Excellence. Just pure excellence. Thanks a lot man
Absolutely excellent video

Excellent video
Thanks for making it Cool and super easy
So great!
Thanks for video. Very useful
So many thanks !!! the more I watch your videos, the more I think to go for one of your courses. I feel myself more clever and skilled when i watch your videos, in fact i feel i could be the next David Guetta , or Daft punk, fat slim boy or Martin Solveig, Jean Michel jarre ....
Thank you, Oscar.
Substractive synthesis is a term referring to a method to modulate harmonic richness.
Thank you!
Completely new to this world. I come from being a singer in rock bands. Home studio built during covid. And start experimenting with loops. until I sometimes wanted to give a sound a different feel... How does this work... hmm. AH that's how it goes. And then I end up with a fellow countryman. thx 4 the vid.
Represent! 🇹🇩
That was a great explanation. Where was this video when I tried to self-learn this in the '90s?
I was out there self-learning myself, wish I could teleport through time!
@@OscarUnderdogI understand LFOs but I'm struggling with how an envelope modulates other parameters. For example, How does adsr modulate pitch?
@@ELLIOT8209 It usually doesn't modulate pitch at all! The only exception to that would be in the case of synthesizing a kick, tom or snare drum, where it rapidly makes the pitch sweep from high to low to create a transient punch.
Thank you!!
Thanks helped a lot
Well explained
Man i love this stuff. Is there any chance you could do a sound design breakdown of Rikhter's new track Syndikat sometime in the future? Or anything from Rikhter, there is just so little on the subject anywhere. Thanks for the videos!
Thank you for all this free gold you put out! I've learned so much
I am curious about your Techno Production Course - I just wonder if Ableton (or any other DAW) is a core part of this course or if I can follow with my DAWless gear (Sequencer, Synths etc.) and use the DAW only for things like arrangement, mixing, mastering?
Awesome clear teaching on the basics!
What I am missing is the the coherence of the filter envelope (ADSR) and the amp envelope (ADSR).
Doesn't the Roland Juno Synth have applied the same envelope to both, filter and amp (which made them simple and thus part of their success)?
Great Video 🫡
Awsome!!!
Hi Oscar! Thanks you so much for your tutorials! Now that I'm trying to compose my first Techno track, they are a must! I have a request, is it possible to have a tutorial for the hoover sound (Mentasm) using only the Ableton 11 instruments? I can't find a guide or tutorial anywhere. It's driving me nuts. Thanks!
No, I don't want to fall in love 0:09
🥰
hey , still no video talking about turing ,u re still my Ableton Live hero
Great!
Hey mate :) I was wondering if you do one on one classes? :) I like courses but I d prefer to just get into a live session.
Fucking brilliant. I'm new to electonic music and you something like Master Oogway for me. Thank you for sharing your knowlege and making content that great!
thAnks
No way man I literally just did this video haha 🤣🤣🤣
Great minds think alike I suppose!
Hey Oscar!
Perhaps you or some of your other viewers can help me!
What order do you recommend a beginner watches your videos in?
I'm brand new to production and I've just watched the 'First Hour of Making Electronic Music' video which was incredibly helpful. I'd love to subscribe to your course but it's a bit pricey for the time being so I'm relying on your RUclips videos.
I'm just trying to understand simple structures and song progressions, so videos Like Hi Hat strategies (gears) and Syncopation are super helpful because they tell me where to place those notes.
However, I've been jumping around - for example, I started with Dotted Bassline then half way through switched to the Moroder's Bassline video, then to Learn Any Synth, to Subtractive Synth, to finally this video. I feel like I should have done that in completely opposite order.
Please help a newbie out :)

What plugin do you use?
That synth is called Vital! And it's free!
🙏
First section, when you mentioned a dude that screams, you called him Oscillator, worryingly similar in name to Oscar. Maybe he's your evil twin?
🙏🏻💛☀️
vital
came here for chemistry smh
maybe title should be revised to sound synthesis
Thank you!
