This 'intro' to subtractive synth is better than almost all of the YT videos claiming to be 'advanced'. I've been doing production for 30 odd years and rarely do I see YT videos that make me genuinely listen. Your approach to this whole thing is fantastic - if I was a newbie I would 100% be paying for your courses.
simple and informative - if I had this amount of information back in the mid 9os, i would have had a much different "timeline" of my life.... but better later than never.. thanks
Your videos are second to none, have spent many nights listening to your wisdom. Thanks for helping and sharing. Wish you all the much deserved success.
Most of this is review for me at this point, but you covered in under 20 mins what it has taken me MONTHS to wrap my head around! I'm still a newb for sure, but I wish I had been able to see this presentation before I even started getting into synths. I'll be looking into more of your content for my continuing education for sure!
Woww, so this must be the quality of education that I'm missing out on in the US 😂. Seriously, the teaching style is both accessible and informative.. cheers, will be keeping up with your videos!
Nice one, this is awesome encouragement 😁 Would be great to get more US viewership as well! Before you know it, we could run online classrooms in US time too!
I was smiling and laughing all the time while watching your video. How can a one person explain all the important information in a clear and undestandable way for people IS FASCINATING. You are the BEST Oscar!
Thank you! Be proud of you because as young person with fresh mind, you are communicating easier that anybody on YT. I bow low. Keep doing and I am sure you will get a new students. That will be the fruit of your labor. Cheers mate
Brother man… I was doing syntorial, and needed a more basic primer before going further. This is THE clearest explanation I have ever seen, thank you so much!! Even LFOs you were able to break down, I am amazed.
Hi, Oscar (Sorry for my terrible English) I’m total beginner and you videos are helping me to understand the synth basics. Your video about subtractive synthesis is very good. Thank you
I've been wanting to get into making electronic music for years, but the learning curve have just seemed to steep for me to commit. After binging hours of your videos i've finally got the courage to get started. I just cannot fathom how I can get free access to such high quality content. Once I get my setup ready I can assure you that i'll buy your course! Thank you!
I love the way you explain this stuff. I’ve watched tons of videos on this subject and they have never been half as effective as this. Thank you so much!
Thanks so much for this lesson. I've been trying to wrap my head around this for years I feel I finally got it. I've passed the link around to my friends learning synths cause I found your way of explaining it super easy to understand and to put into practice. Thanks Oscar, you're the man!
Guitar dummy here... my boss GT 6 has some really cool synthesizer stuff in it. But I didn't know how to really use them. This is going to be a huge help to me. Thank you
Man, just half way though this video and I am understanding way more than I ever have about synthesizers. I have played around with the parameters to change sounds, but not knowing what I was doing. Thanks for this video
Thank you!! This is all I needed! You really helped this guy who isn’t a good reader but who gets his Information by listening and viewing stuff…you’ve really made my day! Eric
You are who ive been looking for all this time. HA jokes aside, as someone whose job it is to explain and educate technical concepts to people who don't know it yet... KUDOS to you! You have another sub.
You're an absolutely good teacher ! I understood each and every thing very easily !! Thank you so much , I've already subscribed and now I will always wait for your every video 💟
I have a korg workstation. These pieces often exist on different pages in the menus. I get so confused when I’m making adjustments, sometimes they don’t even change anything audibly! Having this visualization of how sound is being bused helps a lot, thank you! Love the screaming dude osc, haha.
Loved this- so helpful. A heads up for an amazing synth option some of you may already have. Nintendo Game Boy. Korg makes synth programs for them. The old DS as well as the newer ones. Great place to learn. Cheers!
My man, that is the type of information what I lookin for, thank you so much for that technical and easy approach to synthesis, now I can stop pushing random values with no idea and be more conscious and productive 🙏🖤
Just got into syths and I am so happy that I found your channel. You're abilty to communicate and teach is on another level. I am definitely going to check out your classes.
I've been producing for 4 years now, teaching myself of trials and errors and very superficial youtube videos. But you managed to teach me precise things that will definitely give me way more tools to control my producing amd creative process ! Subscribe !
Thaankyou for thiis videeooo, this is total masterpiece, I have finished the course of ableton lately but only now I understood this concept of this things, Please make more videos like this, it is a science and should be explained in a language of science which you know
Thank you for your easy to understand explanation on subtractive synthesis. Know I have some knowledge to better use the yamaha reface cs mini synthesizer.
Thanks for the intro, Oscar you my friend just became a part of the journey to some great music of the future much apricated. I will pay you back with amazing synth music ~ STARMAN
i like this video very much, i understood now how it work´s and sit here in front of the "SimSynth" [FL Studio] and made sounds like waves on the Beach, short and long "WwwOooWww" all night. :) this was fun for my soul. Big THX
It could be either one! Most LFO's have an "R" button (for "retrigger") to turn that option on or off. People disactivate Retrigger if they want to keep the sound moving organically. People activate Retrigger if they want predictable "wubs", like dubstep growls :)
Really appreciate your simplified version of this! Im curious to ask have you had any experience using Arturia Pigments? I recently purchased it as a plug in for my DAW I'm using Ableton live 11 and everything you said in your presentation I can comprehend but Pigments seems to be a bit more complexed then what I had anticipated.

Amazing video. How does the Filter's envelope works? So if you wanted to go from dark to light and to dark again, what Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release do you need?
start with filter at a more closed position have it open on Attack portion, as it reaches the top it will become brighter. On the decay portion it will close the filter and become darker. You can sustain your tone by effecting the sustain level, on the release portion it will close back down to the original position.
Blew my mind! Damn near gave my girlfriend a heart attack with my Eureka! moment! You have a great way of explaining things that many teachers here in the US fall short on.

amazing tutorial!
Is the LFO always running like the oscillator, or is it triggered the moment I press a key?
It could be either one! Most LFO's have an "R" button (for "retrigger") to turn that option on or off. People disactivate Retrigger if they want to keep the sound moving organically. People activate Retrigger if they want predictable "wubs", like dubstep growls :)
