Just came across your channel. I like what you're doing! New friend over here! Hope to stay connected on this journey! I'm in GA grow zone 8a. Take care and have a Great Day!
I bought one 18 inch piece of sugarcane today with 6 nodes. It has a thin covering of clear wax. I'm going to scrap the wax off and plant in soil indoors. I'm in the UK. I hope to get a greenhouse soon.
How did the cane(not sorghum) from seed do from the previous video? I am at about the same stage as you starting to grow and learn about sugar cane. Thanks for the videos!
Just saw your comment. It grew very well and got very tall. It was kinda thin and not very sweet. Won’t be planting it again but I love planting the sugarcane. Looking forward to a big harvest this year! Thanks
Excellent job. I just cut my cane up into single nodes wish I had seen this first. First time cane grower. I may order more and plant double nodes. Is there an update to this video?
I amended by garden awhile back with a load of mushroom compost so I didn’t use any fertilizer however it wouldn’t hurt to use a little 10-10-10 halfway through the growing season if you think you need a little boost
No not into a tree. You can only grow the canes and they will regenerate for 3 years from the crowns in the ground. Keep in mind sugar cane is in the grass family. Thanks for the comment!
It depends on how long a row you want to grow. But I grew about a 100 foot row with about 12, 5 foot canes. Again, you don’t have to stagger them like I did in the video. You can space about 4 to 6 inches apart. Hope that helps.

Thanks so much! Same to you!
Thanks! Good info here. Planted my first cane patch last year here in East Alabama!

I'd like to plant them in a square like sweetcorn. Are they wind pollinated?
How long did it take from the time that you planted to harvesting the cane ?
About 7-8 months. Thanks

Cool thanks mate
This may be a dumb question but can you splice sugarcane into a fruit tree or a fruit tree into sugarcane?
