In india we have machines that squeeze the juice ...literally the whole sugarcane stick is pushed thru and a lemon and ginger peice is added in between...an amazing refreshing and very affordable drink.. we get it in all seasons

Red/black skinned sugar cane is really the best. It taste less sweeter than green/yellow ones, harder too but taste more grassy and herbal.
Yellow and green canes tend to be used for making sugar - white, brown, washed, confectionery and even molasses
