I wonder how many Chinese people would love to return to this lifestyle. Early last year, I was in a Guangzhou restaurant when a young waitress wanted to practice her English on me. It wasn't very good.Turned out she was a university student working to earn money. She did say that she really wanted to learn the language but didn't know any 'foreigners' I did offer to help her via WeChat and we kept in touch when I returned to the UK. She is now working in Shenzhen and earning relatively good money - enough to help support her impoverished family. She is the eldest child so has a lot on her shoulders. Her English has improved greatly and we often video talk via WeChat. We are now good friends. As much as she enjoys her job and the money she earns - she yearns to have a small farm where she can grow crops and keep some livestock. I was actually introduced to Liziqi's videos by a Nepalese girl I know only a couple of weeks ago. I messaged my friend to ask if she had heard of Liziqi and she replied that she had and was so jealous of her. Liziqi is living the life that she dreams of living.

I started out life on a farm in the north of England, a long rather sad story cut short I ended up in the city. Over 22 years later and I still miss it, I hate cities, I hate busy roads. I miss the wilder, natural life. eventually I studied for a degree in Horticulture, still ended up driving a tractor and I now work as an estate gardener, but one day I'll go back, I know I will. I took the ancestry DNA test recently (all my blood relatives are lost to me so I didn't get chance to ask about my past) and found my ancestors were farming the North of England since the early 1700's, I was the first to break the cycle. These videos give me so much peace and inspire me to not let go of my dream.

Ever since watching her, she has inspired me to grow my own food. Even with very limited space in San Francisco, I just have to make it work and not buying too much of the processed with unknown preservatives food, I now grow lemons grass, cafia lime tree, green onion, mint, and basil, and other herbs and spices in using my planter pot and place them along the stair rails since there isn't any land or backyard to grow large amounts, so far, I've reduced spending on buying those herbs from the store, and I would say, it save my trip to the market and money as well, especially knowing that the food I eat comes from my hard labor... obviously it's not even .001% of what I've seen in this video, but it's a step to make it work in the dense city life...efforts is all it takes...😁🙏
@@soki1847I try do the same, at least to get self sufficient in some things. Peppermint is a good one, it grows well in pots and you don't need much of it to make a very tasty peppermint tea. We're trying coffee plants now, maybe one day 🙄 Daikon is amazing, so easy to grow

I messaged my friend to ask if she had heard of Liziqi and she replied that she had and was so jealous of her. Liziqi is living the life that she dreams of living.

I started out life on a farm in the north of England, a long rather sad story cut short I ended up in the city. Over 22 years later and I still miss it, I hate cities, I hate busy roads. I miss the wilder, natural life. eventually I studied for a degree in Horticulture, still ended up driving a tractor and I now work as an estate gardener, but one day I'll go back, I know I will. I took the ancestry DNA test recently (all my blood relatives are lost to me so I didn't get chance to ask about my past) and found my ancestors were farming the North of England since the early 1700's, I was the first to break the cycle. After grandfather died, Liziqi decided to help out her grandma...and learn the different dishes her grandfather used to make. This is how it all started. Ever since watching her, she has inspired me to grow my own food. Even with very limited space in San Francisco, I just have to make it work and not buying too much of the processed with unknown preservatives food, I now grow lemons grass, cafia lime tree, green onion, mint, and basil, and other herbs and spices in using my planter pot and place them along the stair rails since there isn't any land or backyard to grow large amounts, so far, I've reduced spending on buying those herbs from the store, and I would say, it save my trip to the market and money as well, especially knowing that the food I eat comes from my hard labor... obviously it's not even .001% of what I've seen in this video, but it's a step to make it work in the dense city life...efforts is all it takes...😁🙏

这时候，如果能在田坝里搭上桌子，整一顿伴着菜花香的火锅，那简直不摆了，毕竟还能顺手薅几根油菜苔扔锅里不是吗？
菜花开过结菜籽，随着种夹饱满，菜秆底部的叶子变黄。我们这一般是要把下面的老/黄叶拔掉一些，一来给顶部的菜籽让出养分，二来那段时间绿草也少，刚好扯回家喂小动物。
差不多到立夏之后，菜籽种夹开始饱满变黄，这时候就砍下来整齐摆在地里晾干，等着收割机到来。以前小时候都是手打，这几年机耕道整好了几乎都等机器来收，除非错过了时间。
打好的菜籽晒一两天，用风车车干净就可以送去榨油。现在的油坊，榨好的生油会给你熬制 过滤，直接提回家就能用。油枯还能泡来当农家肥，我院子里的花全靠它们！
至于“油”，怎么用都行。不管是蒸的 煮的 炒的 烧的 凉拌的都能用到，就着时令随便做了些。
现在正打田插秧，邻居家的冬水田也打了，逮了好多小龙虾，还有几尾泥鳅。他们忙栽秧，没时间弄这些费事的吃食，就让我拿回家吃。我自己也下田薅了几把，小龙虾倒能抓到些，但泥鳅实在是太滑没抓俩就放弃，提上田叔给捞的小虾米回去了。
刚好这个季节斑竹笋大发，掰了几根。还有观音叶子正好可以拿来搅凉粉，吃了清暑热。
笋子去壳焯水后清水浸泡，斑竹笋得泡后才能吃，不然总有一点涩涩的感觉。泡好的笋子随便咋吃，我放了一些在钵钵鸡里，还做了个油焖笋。道地的油焖笋，就用油 糖 酱油 笋 这四样，别的都不需要，吃的就是那一口鲜笋味。

I'm studying for exams now and drowning in stress. Seeing her natural lifestyle makes me envious. Humans never were meant to get away from such a life. That's why we drown in stress and the more wealth we amass the unhappier we get
Then how do you expect it to be so magical without the presence of technology? Education evolves us. It's true now-a-days education is like getting the best marks and get top grades. It's dumb as fuck. Yet it is required to score at least pass marks. My advice: start doing your own research. Do not follow principles. Challenge everything like a rude disobedient person. You may one day realise your own way.

So I read an article about her, her parents divorced when she was very young, then she went to live with her grandparents in the rural area. When she grow up, she tried various job at the city.. once upon a time, she got a call that her grandma was sick so she left everything and cameback to hometown to take care of her nana. She was inspired by her brother who uploads singing videos on Meipai (Chinese social media) and thinking that she could do one of that too. Over the years through trials and errors she was able to build her channel.
After learning this about her, I was really impressed. All i can say is, she is truly a hard working person and never leaves her family. We all should be inspired!!
Ps: All that woodworking and cooking skill she learned from her grandpa. Apart from this channel, I heard that she is also a bussineess woman 😍

Sad her stepmother was so abusive and she ran away to live in the streets at 14. So happy for her life now of amazing courage and integrity.
Having 2 daughters, I can't imagine why her mom was forced to leave her that the father took her from her mother to leave her with an abusive wife. That would break my heart.

This is the kind of life I’m working towards. Cause of the pandemic I lost my room that I was renting in NY and lost my job. After working 7 hard years to move back to NY myself from Boston. But I’m hoping that everything will be back to normal and I can work again, working my dream job and saving up towards living in the mountains and have the life I’m dreaming of. Liziqi has inspired me to start baking, embroidery, learn new recipes for cooking, check on my family and grandparents more often, and to show/tell my loved ones everyday that I love them. I hope to one day live in the mountains with my birds, and cook outside, and live life comfortably without worrying about money.
