  • Danny shows you 3 different ways to grow sugar cane. We have some nodes growing in water in a mini greenhouse in our Big greenhouse. We have some sprouts putting on roots in the
greenhouse. Then there is the traditional way of cutting 18 to 24 inch pieces and planting them in the ground.

Thank you Danny and Wanda for this video (all your videos) and for making your sugar cane available to purchase! I grew up in south Florida (between Miami and Homestead FL) until the late 70's back when it was rural farmland. I remember fondly riding the horses through the seemingly endless cane fields where we kids (and the horses) would enjoy the day, AND the cane! Us kids chewing on the sweet inner cane and the horses taking down the whole stalks...LOL! I miss that!!! I just ordered some of your chewing cane to enjoy the memory after 40 years without it (moved away in 79) and to share with the kids and and grand kids what Granny used to enjoy as a kid! If I can get it to grow here, the horses I have now could share in it too ;) So thank you for the "memory"!! God bless you both!

I used to live in Hawaii. I dug up sugar cane in a field and planted as a hedge between our house and the neighbors. Nothing prettier than the wind blowing through the sugar cane.

Does it spread horizontally around the ground like bamboo? I don’t want it to grow wild.

Just received my sugar cane order and I put it in a bucket of water. They rooted in 2 days. I am ready to plant them in the ground here in South Fl - no freeze zone so should be okay. I assume you save a few stalks that third year for your new seed, right? I have bought sugar cane at the farmers market and none rooted as quickly as yours. Very healthy stalks. We're very excited to see how it grows. Wish we lived closer so we could come visit. Love your channel. It's our treat to watch your live streams.

Hi Danny. Love your channel! I live in the southwest in cowboy country, and want to plant sugar cane in pots, since I live in the city. I saw your videos on how to extract the juice with a presser & cooking. I don't have any of those set ups. Questions: 1) which type of cane is best for making syrup, and which is best for just chewing on? 2) what to feed in the winter? Do I keep in garage at night & put out in day time? 3) instructions for extracting juice & making syrup in my kitchen. Thanks much.
P.S. same for my 2yr old muscadine grapes in nursery pots - how best to winterize?

When your cane comes in how long to do have to get it in the ground or in a pot. And if you put it in a pot will it be easy to transfer to the ground in the spring time.

I would like to know if the cane pieces will over winter in the refrigerator? I live in western Washington and would love to grow this but we freeze in the winter, so I would have to dig the roots up in the fall or refrigerate cane pieces to plant again in the spring.

Zavia Hope Thomas The best way we have found is to put them in pots in a warm area so they can root during the cold weather and move them outdoors during the warm season. Thanks
